Reviews for Appart'City Narbonne
Review 1:They do not have the reception open 24/7, so they leave your keys in an envelope into a locker and send you the code to open the door and the locker. When we arrived the locker was open, and there was no envelope with my name. Other envelopes had been opened. We had to call to the emergency number of the hotel and after 45 minutes waiting they told us to take the keys of another room that were in another box, with another name. We had pre-paid a superior room and it was a standard room. The morning after they made us pay again and I had to demonstrate them I had already pre-paid to make them give me my money back. Terrible experience.
Review 2:Good location. Big bathroom. Clean. Comfortable bed.
Review 3:The second day we had no heating (end of November) and it was impossible to Change the temperature in the room)
Review 4:Great location, facilities were excellent
Review 5:-Not enough staff. Reception is not open on Sundays and very limited on Saturdays. -Their help line doesn't work, literally, the number doesn't exist. We called their reservation line and they told us that they cannot help if there is no reception. -On the documents it says that they can keep the luggage for 2 EUR per day, however there is nowhere to leave the luggage. This is, apparently, only available when the reception is open, which is almost never. We had to carry the luggage with us for the whole day. What a useless service. -I do not recommend going to this apartment, if you have an issue noone will be there to help.
Review 6:-Clean rooms -Good location, only few steps from the Cathedral and the city center.
Review 7:The short stay was not enjoyable. As I had a fully ladened UK reg car in the city I booked the car park, on arrival I was informed that this was not available they were doing repairs to the entrance door, find your own car park. The hotel, including rooms, had no heating at all, the overcast October weekend was not warm, bathroom fan worked 24/7, the shower curtain hung outside the walk-in shower area and flooded the bathroom and the entrance hall, the fridge froze the cheese, the yoghurt, the salad etc., the hot water went off. We couldn't complain as there was no reception from 4 pm Saturday until 8 am Monday. Don't book the large room, it was dull with dark brown carpets and furniture that would have suited a room half the size and still there was nowhere comfortable to sit.
Review 8:The location was within walking distance of the city centre
Review 9:Problems with the door lock - the whole process was too complicated and difficult to do and the eventual opening of the door seems to be random rather than a consequence of the procedure described to us.
Review 10:The location and space in the apartment and the self catering facilities
Review 11:The fact that reception was closed, we had a few anxious moments with the codes. Others did too. The door locks to the rooms are a bit tricky, they do supply instructions. Eventually managed to gain access. Had reception been open it would not have been a problem.
Review 12:The apartment was a lovely property, very clean, fresh & modern in style. It was an 8 minute walk from the railway station, taxis are scarce, so be prepared to walk. Needed to ask for directions a couple of times to locate the property. The property has short reception hours. We arrived after hours (about 6pm) They did send me an email with the access code to main entry and code for safe just inside which had our room keys in an envelope. Breakfast was continental buffet, which was adequate & reasonably priced. Reception was opened in the morning at check out. Staff very friendly & efficient.
Review 13:No attention to detail, all carpets in and out of rooms were dirty. Zip link beds not connected. Bathroom just ok, could be cleaner. To say the hotel is relatively new it is run down. Pillows so thin they were useless. Unlikely to stay again.
Review 14:The location is good and parking charge reasonable.
Review 15:Negative woman at front desk. No reception in the evenings, so when our key wouldn't open our door one evening we had to wait almost 2 hours for someone to come and let us in - unbelievably poor service! Of all the places we stayed in Europe, this was the only place that charged for bike storage. Our bags arrived a couple of ours before us and they wanted to charge for that too.
Review 16:I did not appreciate the reception staff playing the 'I'm too busy on the computer & you will have to wait till I'm good and ready' card on the three occasions I attended, 2 of course were booking in & out. This was not great service & i could understand this better if there was only one receptionist, more over the reception is only opened for limited periods. The contract I had to sign which came with a list of tasks I had to complete before checking out does not endear me to staying here again.
Review 17:The location is perfectly set for walking to the main shops & restaurants. The room is clean & spacious with a small kitchenette which is handy if you need one.
Review 18:Long queue to book in. Breakfast expensive compared to cost of room.
Review 19:Last minute booking. Surprisingly excellent but simple, large rooms with kitchenettes. Wonderful large showerroom. Very modern. Very well equiped. WiFi per modem which has to be set up but is very simple. Cost €2. Parking round the corner at rear for €8 per day. Excellent price.
Review 20:Arrived after concierge had gone home and had great difficulty getting in as no Sms message had arrived and the help phone number would not connect. Then battled the safe, it seems to need holding tight shut while entering code.
Review 21:Easy to get to the lovely old city. We had a bonus view of the cathedral over the roofs. wonderful patient young man, another visitor fluent in French, used his own phone and helped us get the codes and room no. to get in.
Review 22:The staff and the service was very poor
Review 23:Nice concept but very poorly organised. The check in out of their opening hours is really difficult. I had to phone a number and the customer service assistant was quite rude. I've asked to provide another towel because we rent a flat for 2 but all was organised for 1 and I never received an answer. I wouldn't recommend it at least in Narbonne
Review 24:No hot water on two nights but the staff gave us the keys to another room to use, all the facilities to cook, make tea/coffee but nothing else, no tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc, when we arrived (Sunday) most of the shops were closed, this should have been explained, the option for a welcome pack would have been nice then we could have planned one way or the other but I suppose this is a budget appartment and we should not have expected to much.
Review 25:Location, clean, modern room, all the facilities for a self catering holiday in the centre of town at a reasonable price.
Review 26:Staff was not service minded. Efficient- yes- but travellers are usually tired from the trip, therefore, friendly voice and showing willingness to help would be good.
Review 27:Big room with kitchenette- stove, fridge, plates, etc. Big, comfortable beds snd pillows.
Review 28:Staff not very welcoming at all at the reception in the morning when I arrived few hours in advanced. Tat reception I did not recieve all the info regarding the reception facilities that were closing at 17. I arrived at 18 and noone around to give me the access card to my room. I had to wait for a resident to come in to let me in the first lobby. I had to call the appartmemt city service (using my roaming x 2.... very expensive) to get the number of the seif where the envelope with key card was. Though I asked for internet in the morning at reception they did not think to give me in the envelop the access info. So I could not use internet (which I needed to plan my next hotels etc). I had to stay in the lobby with many others to use the internet. Spoons were not clean. Telephone in room not working.
Review 29:The studio was spatious, clean, bright.kitchen, big bathroom, air conditioning system in room. Posibility to leave your lagguage (payed and to pick up within the reception hours) Quiet
Review 30:Secure bicycle parking costs extra, WiFi in apartment costs extra, having to sign lengthy terms and conditions upon arrival feels strange
Review 31:Great central and quiet location, spacious clean and modern apartment, good value for money, grocery shops and restaurants in walking distance
Review 32:Door locks very difficult to use, sometimes resulting in you being locked out of your room for a period of time. Staff not friendly.Bathrooms smelled like a sewer.
Review 33:Diffiificulty with language and understanding. Being charged for luggage storage and wifi only free if you sit down at reception, not in your room.
Review 34:Having a lift, room was clean and good location
Review 35:The hotel website informs that Wifi is available at rooms by paying (which is already unfair since most of hotels nowadays offer free Wifi). However, I did not detect any wifi in my room.
Review 36:Staff was very friendly.
Review 37:The door mechanism to get into the rooms. Designed by an idiot. The first time it took me 10 minutes to get ino my room. When I returned later in the day there were three different groups standing in the corridor in frustration trying to get into their rooms. Amusing but change your locks Appart City.
Review 38:Clean, comfortable and good value
Review 39:The staff were very helpful when they changed my booking after I had made a mistake What a great find, lots of extras that you don't get in a hotel that make your stay so much easier
Review 40:We arrived at 11a.m. with many small bags. The receptionist insisted on charging €4 per bag for storage until the official check in time of 3p.m.
Review 41:The location was a short walk to central Narbonne.
Review 42:We had to wait half an hour to check in because there were a few people waiting at reception, and only one person on.
Review 43:The room was a good size, clean, with a big comfy bed.
Review 44:They ask for a 2 euro charge to hold your baggages until check-in time. I personally think this is crazy, so I'll just note it down.
Review 45:nice place in Narbonne. Relatively close to the city center and to the train station.
Review 46:- there was no shower curtain and the bathroom was flooded every time we took shower, no grocer’s shops in the neighbourhood
Review 47:+ the apparthotel is located within a 10-minute walk from the city center, we got quite a big room, simply furnished, bus stop close to the hotel, when you want to go to the beach or downtown, good air conditioning
Review 48:Slight niggle about Wi Fi connection from room but better signal was available in reception area
Review 49:City centre location easily within walking distance of amenities. Spacious accommodation.
Review 50:A bit pricy at 80€ for a one night stay. No free wi-fi in the room which was disappointing.
Review 51:Easy to find the building with satnav. Reception door is not that clear though. Located on the edge of the old town a short walk to shops, bars & restaurants. Modern, light, large self catering apartment with all facilities. I parked on the street but they have a car park at a charge per night. Reception closes at 21.00. However, they are very efficient and send a detailed email (in French, English and Spanish) the day before your arrival and, if you arrive late, an sms to your mobile to explain the procedure for out of hours access. Make sure you have internet access and a mobile whilst travelling.
Review 52:apartment was well located and within walking distance of cafes , restaurants etc. spacious apartment , we were on 4th floor and had magnificent views .
Review 53:1. no staff on Sunday, wasted almost an hour trying to register by phone, password/code etc should have been issued to me when booking was confirmed 2. need to pay for wifi inside the room (there was however free wifi on G/F at the lobby) 3. reserved parking was expensive (so I parked on the street)
Review 54:1. cleaniness 2. air-conditioning 3. reasonable price 4. proximity to the town centre
Review 55:The limited number of pots and pans for self catering was the only major drawback. But at the price we paid you could afford buy some!
Review 56:We liked the location, quite spacious apartment, car park, cleanliness.
Review 57:frosty, unfriendly receptionist, unhelpful, we had 2 expensive road bikes with us and we were told we had to leave them in the underground carpark which wasn't secure, and just got told "haven't you got a lock.." wouldn't have minded if rooms were spotless and gorgeous, they weren't
Review 58:location
Review 59:We received a friendly welcome and found the staff both friendly and helpful. We were conveniently able to park in the basement. A 10 minute walk brought us to the historical centre. The rooms are spacious and the self catering facilities looked okay although we didn't make use of them. I must thank a previous reviewer for mentioning the lack of WiFi in the rooms. I packed an ethernet cable and was able to use the Internet without having to go down to reception.
Review 60:Not applicable, except that the beach is much further away than we realised.
Review 61:Fantastic food readily available, hire bikes near the square with lots of flat riding along streets and little boats to rent on the canal. Beautiful architecture. Intermarche near, stocked with amazing fresh food. Train station near.
Review 62:There was no air conditioning (not turned on, so the staff told us….but friends staying on the first floor had air conditioning). The room was hot even with the window open. Almost non-existent wifi (paid). Staff came to room 4 times to try and sort problem. In the end they gave up and so did we. Limited kitchen utensils. The surrounding area seemed a bit seedy. We felt as though we needed to be on our guard when walking around.
Review 63:Clean apartment with comfortable bed. We could walk to the station and the daily market. It wasn't far to the historic centre.
Review 64:We booked a room for 2 but at our arrival, the bathroom kit was only for one person. Since we arrived after 5pm, there was nobody at the reception so we could not ask for a second towel, cup etc. In the morning, we were told that it's a fault of booking.com who transferred a wrong information about the room occupation and they can't do anything about it. Also, the toilet paper in the bathroom was in a state like if someone just used it. There was a hole in the bathroom door and the walls between rooms are very thin. Also, guests are requested to take care of the rubbish bin and clean the place to avoid additional cleaning fees. This experience was not worth even the little money we paid for the room especially compared to other hotels in the region. This place behaves particularly cheap. There are students and seasonal workers staying at the residence.
Review 65:Location with a possibility to park car on the street
Review 66:We found the kitchen could have more utensils. Also it would be nice if milk was in the fridge, especially for late arrivals.
Review 67:Location very good. Clean room and friendly staff in Appart'City.
Review 68:Lacks character as a large block of newer apartments.
Review 69:Room was very clean and quite a good size bathroom. Self catering was good with a proper hotplate.
Review 70:Great place and great value for money. The apartment was absolutely new and absolutely clean. The bathroom was bright and new, with everything working perfectly well and beyond all our expectations for the price you are paying.
Review 71:I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you are looking for budget places to stay there are better. The wifi is a joke, it doesn't work. We requested a double bed and got two single beds and the staff is barely there so if you have a problem there's no one to help. The room was dirty and the stay was unpleasant. Worth not even a quarter of what we paid.
Review 72:The location was safe and convenient.
Review 73:No wifi in the chamber - mmh, a cable (1€/d) was rentable - but what to do with your tablet? It works, but it could be nicer...
Review 74:New, clean place with modern facilities, newly openend and as such everything not much used yet
Review 75:Blanket is made of synthetic fabric. So waking up at night because of heat and sweat used to happen several times.
Review 76:Location is good. 10 min by foot from the train station, 7 min from Les Halles -- centre of a city, also a post office, stores -- all's located nearby. Friendly staff.
Review 77:Problems with Wi-fi, no launrdy facilities in the room, nobody on reception at night, no tea&cofee facilities.
Review 78:Parking, big bed, big bathroom, spacious rooms
Review 79:2 hour nightmare - we booked about 430pm knowing staff we not there after 5pm - but they didn't get the email so didn't leave an envelope with room card/number for us 3 other couples arrived after us and had similar problems - after 2 hours the duty manager recalled by a cleaner finally got us a room so - try to book more than half an hour before your arrive - and plan to arrive during staffed hours to avoid such a nightmare
Review 80:lovely room - walking distance to Les Halles Market
Review 81:Shower gel was empty. Literature said no reception on a Sunday but there was. Also said no breakfast on a Sunday but there was. Wifi only available in reception area unless you pay for a cable to use it in your room
Review 82:Cheap
Review 83:Hard to check in on Sunday when reception not open.
Review 84:Breakfast is very good and value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful. One of reception staff has excellent English.
Review 85:Cant see on the outside that its apartcity. Only a very little sign. And the wifi could be better. Otherwise, very good!
Review 86:Location is very good. New building, clean.
Review 87:Wifi not available in the room, but only hall Lack of storage for luggage for early checkin or checkout, so guests have to pay 1.50EUR per luggage
Review 88:cleanliness, location
Review 89:When we booked the room, a different photograph (bigger room with a sofa) was shown in connection with our rate, so we felt a little bit cheated when we saw the actual room. There was only one roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and it seems we were expected to buy our own after that.
Review 90:Great to be offered kitchen facilities (even though the items in the kitchen were basic - no salad bowl, only one cup, etc.).
Review 91:The car park gate was left constantly open, which meant that anyone could enter the car park and hotel any time day or night.
Review 92:Happy with virtually every aspect of our stay there
Review 93:Wifi slow and would cut out occassionally
Review 94:Clean spacious and 10minute walk to the train station. kitchenette was excellent for making light meals. wifi was a little slow and sometimes the signal poor.
Review 95:The reception was CLOSED. We arrived and the place was CLOSED...only a telephone number. They didnt advise about no reception on sunday! Thanks to a nearby restaurant that allow us to phone the place we could get inside and manage with a treasure hunt-like game to open the door of the apartment. NO WIFI in the appartment. Only ONE towel SERVICE for two people...
Review 96:Hard to find, I walked past it several times in the dark. A small sign above a doorway in the middle of a large estate agency.
Review 97:It was ideal as a stopover with an early train the next day. Clean, comfortable, good kitchen facilities, nice bathroom
Review 98:No actual Wifi in the room, you need an ethernet port (and to pay 1 Euro daily).
Review 99:Cute little studio, close to both the city centre and the train station. Large bathroom (shower).
Review 100:Wifi in rooms no good . Had to use reception area which was small. Smell of take away food etc in lift and on hallway was a bit off putting .
Review 101:Location and garage were perfect. A huge room and a ample kitchen facilities if one needed them.
Review 102:Smell of cigarette smoke on the linen Only one bath towel and one hand towel for 2 people Charged maximum parking no matter what area used
Review 103:€60 all included (parking; tax) Cleanliness Within 10 minutes of all worthy sites Plenty of parking
Review 104:Wi Fi only available at reception area, which leaves you hovering in the hallways in your pjs at ridiculous hours. However, the WiFi failed to work for me and only rarely worked for my friend. That said, there's decent WiFi in every place in town. You'll survive!
Review 105:Perfect little kitchen area, including cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge etc. Bathroom was surprisingly spacious! Also, I noted reviews mentioning noise if staying out front - I was in front-facing room and there was no noise when windows were closed!
Review 106:Wifi only worked in the lobby, not in the rooms. Gates in the back open-air car park didn't open and we were stuck for a long time. There is no emergency exit or buzzer/phone to contact reception. We could have been stuck in the open all day. There is no way out! One of the rooms smelt all night, from the bathroom.
Review 107:Reception staff not available on Sunday, no wifi which was advertised as being available, door key difficult to operate.
Review 108:Comfort, cleanliness, location
Review 109:WiFi only in lobby. Overpowering smell of air freshener in lobby area.
Review 110:Kitchen compact and everything you need. I liked the fact that there was a hallway with door to close, made it quiet from other guests coming and going. Also good breakfast.
Review 111:The apartments are hard to spot from the road- my husband had to drive around while we looked for them on foot! Also wifi was only available in the foyer.
Review 112:Good location, close to the city centre, with well thought out facilities and secure car parking.
Review 113:Had an extra large modern apartment at end of corridor. Excellent facilities, good bed at a reasonable price and close to City centre. Had designated secure storage facility in basement for my bike.
Review 114:The bin in the kitchen did smell of cigarettes which caught the nose when opened. Otherwise very happy with the apartment.
Review 115:Good location easy walk to the station and town centre. Very clean a quiet. Excellent value for money, very useful tiny kitchen which has the worlds smallest dishwasher (with a tablet provided for each night of stay)! Finding it wasn't a problem as others have reported.
Review 116:The fiasco regarding access. Witnessed other traveller's being totally disappointed with having to deal with the access system after hours. Not all traveller's have access to a phone either. This needs improvement . Luckily I checked in when staffed.
Review 117:Comfortness, cleanliness,location.
Review 118:The building has no signage to show it is an Appart'City. Many people walking up and down trying to find the building and then which door to gain entrance.
Review 119:Location could not be closer to the centre. Friendly efficient reception who found nothing to much trouble. Finding ourselves upgraded massively was a terrific surprise. Bicycles secured in a locked room under camera surveillance was impressive.
Review 120:There is no signage on the building to let you know where the place is, not even a street address number. The kitchen utensils were totally inadequate,no sharp knives and had to go downstairs to ask for a spatula. The carpet was dirty and there was mold in the shower.
Review 121:The room was quiet with the window closed, but stuffy. The location was excellent.
Review 122:Arriving out of reception hours meant following instructions using the phone. My French is reasonable but the instructions were spoken too quick. Lucky that other guests helped me out.
Review 123:Price suited my budget and mini kitchen was useful.
Review 124:I came to the hotel around 5, there were nobody at the reception...the keys from my room wasn't in safe..i'd called to customer support, they several times dropped the phone and proposed me to take several keys from the another rooms....but it were not work at all. in 2,5 the support called to service and finnaly i'd got my room. around 4 h.... and the same was this day with another guest...total DISASTER!!!
Review 125:Nothing........................................................
Review 126:There was no sign outside the front door to show where it was - even using a SatNav did not help to explain exactly where the front door was . There was nowhere to park before I got a security card for the car park - luckily another guest helpfully explained the system once I found the outside of the car park and before I got to the reception desk. As it is on a one way system I had to drive round 3 times before I decided to go into a local shop to ask for help. A clear sign is definitely needed.
Review 127:The apartment was very comfortable and well sited for the town centre. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 128:bewar if you're arriving at the weekend because the reception closes at 17.00, We weren't aware of this and arrived just as the receptionist was closing up. She'd e mailed an access code for the door and directions on where to find our key, but as we were en route we didn't get these until after we'd arrived.
Review 129:This is a brand new apartment close to the centre of Narbonne, with excellent facilities - even a mini dishwasher hidden in the kitchen cupboard. Everything was sparkling clean and I had the best night's sleep of our holiday in the comfy bed. Great value, highly recommended.
Review 130:(1) Wi-Fi - impossible except in downstairs hall (2) Air-conditioned room - very uncomfortable (3) Cancellation refused, before and on arrival - despite being available to anyone booking on same day - unfair contract (4) Sheets/ bed not serviced each day (5) Room not cleaned daily (6) I met two people who could not access their rooms as there were no staff to answer service phone after 10 pm, to give them their room numbers
Review 131:Location - fine Shower-room/toilet facility - clean towels etc
Review 132:I have booked many hotels with bookings and this was by far the worst. wifi is a joke it only works in reception area 3 sq metres 2 seats and 100 rooms. if you stay a week you get just 1 set of towels for the week. Parking is expensive.
Review 133:Can't think of anything
Review 134:For the price....nothing major
Review 135:Within 5 minutes of Narbonne cathedral, great value for money with very helpful and friendly receptionist. Room was very clean, with limited cooking facilities We were only staying for one night and this was ideal
Review 136:proximity to town centre means that of course it can be noisy overnight and sofa in living area wasn't very comfy to sit on, but these are small points.
Review 137:clean and tidy, close to town centre, secure. Kitchenette area is small, but has fridge, microwave and cooker hob - all you really need for a short holiday stay. Easy walk into town centre.
Review 138:The signage outside was not big enough to see from the other side of the road which makes it easy to walk straight past. Even up close it is difficult to decipher if you are at the right place as the reception cannot be seen from the road and the sign is small. The wifi is only available in the lobby which only has a sofa for two so it makes it difficult to check mail etc without costly charges for mobile data!
Review 139:Cleanliness and facilities were very good, located within easy walking distance from the station. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Bed was comfortable. Room size was good, kitchen was well equipped.
Review 140:The reception closes at 5pm on Saturdays which is a bit too early, however, the receptionist worked until much later on the day of our arrival (there were unbeliveble traffic jams on moterways leading to Narbonne) and everything worked out well.
Review 141:I enjoyed the comfort and cleanliness of rooms.
