Reviews for Birchwood Hotel

Review 1:a grabrail would have been handy in the shower, also a non slip mat. curtains in the room would have been nice rather than venetian blind.

Review 2:pleasant staff. good breakfast, especially the porridge!!

Review 3:Very convenient for area and theatre Comfortable All staff friendly and helpful Excellent breakfast with durst class personal service Would definitely use again

Review 4:The food was great. We enjoyed their dinner our first night, which it doesn't seem many folks partake in. The owner was very kind and helpful. The location is superb for exploring town or hiking the hills. Loved the character and charm of the hotel.

Review 5:The gentleman at the desk knew I would be checking in very late, and on top of that I called to say I would be arriving at 11.15 (fifteen minutes past him locking the door). He was NOT HAPPY, and gave some major attitude, acting like it was a massive inconvenience. The room was a tiny shoebox, with the most uncomfortable bed ever. Scratchy sheets and a terribly old blanket.

Review 6:THe location was good. The room was inexpensive. Good water pressure in the shower.

Review 7:Single room was small but still comfortable. WiFi works best in the lounge and doesn't reach the rooms very well.

Review 8:Beautiful location, charming place to stay and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was great as well! A great base for exploring Pitlochry and the Perthshire area.

Review 9:The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They rushed out to help me both in and out with my luggage to my room even though I was capable of carrying it myself. I was always greeted with a smile and interest in how I was enjoying myself. I have been several times and for a single traveller I cannot find anywhere better.

Review 10:I could have done with better quality pillows on the bed. Also not sure about the idea of leaving room key on board in reception as this could be open to theft.

Review 11:Lovely old hotel set in its own grounds in a very quiet location yet only minutes walk from the twon and theatre.

Review 12:Breakfast was only average. Lacked quantity and choice. No fresh fruit!

Review 13:Traditional but well equipped room.clean and well presented. Evening meal of good quality but expensive.

Review 14:Disappointing view/position of room - overlooked backyard with washing line and wheelie bins. Seemed to be no choice re dining room table at breakfast as a solo person, seated by staff, no window view both mornings that I stayed. Discounted room should not really make difference to dining experience. Although food good and dining room lovely it would have been nice for at least one morning to be seated with window view of gardens.

Review 15:Breakfast - great selection/choice of food. Gardens lovely, well maintained and accessible, able to explore or to relax in them. Downstairs entrance and communal areas very atmospheric and make a good first impression. Staff informative and friendly/welcoming.

Review 16:The strictness of Breakfast, The serving of fruit juice (small glass per person), and no self service for cereals, fruit or other cold choices. cooked breakfast was of a high standard but again sparse in quantity.

Review 17:Cleanliness, Peacefull,

Review 18:I found the pillows not very comfy, but I always have problems with hotel pillows so it may just be me. I'm sure you could ask for additional ones, as the hotel owners go to great lengths to help!

Review 19:Helpfulness of staff; my bike slept safely in the hall overnight, and John gave excellent tips on the best cycle routes around Loch Tummel

Review 20:Our room was amazing, the bed, large and comfortable. The service was wonderful and breakfast was amazing. You can also have meals there, and there is a bar. The location was perfect for exploring Pitlochry and surrounding areas. You could even walk to town.

Review 21:Breakfast service had limited time availability and a coffee/tea-less wait in the reception area. Bring your own hair-dryer (if you are used to power) and conditioner.

Review 22:The setting/building and decor of the reception areas was wonderful. Gardens and home were well kept, minimal aging/wear issues. Lots of brochures for local sites were available.

Review 23:Nothing at all

Review 24:This hotel is easy to find and offers a warm welcome. It was very quiet when we stayed which added to the tranquility of its edge of town location. It is a very short walk to the centre of town though. The owner's are great. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings but I can highly recommend the breakfast, which has enough choices for everyone. Thank you for a great stay! (Oh, and sorry I accidentally pinched you shower gel...I genuinely thought it was ours)

Review 25:Leaving

Review 26:Restaurant meals are delicious, freshly prepared to order. A friendly polite atmosphere with a wealth of local knowledge. Ask to see John's stunning Perthshire photography.

Review 27:Superlative accommodation. Delicious meals, beautifully cooked and expertly presented. The owners were very friendly and willing to provide help with information about suitable excursions in this beautiful part of Scotland.

Review 28:I enjoyed my week at birchwood hotel very much. The owners are friendly, provide good counsel, and try to fulfill guest wishes. (I had to depart on some days before breakfast time. As they do not have a 24/7 reception it was a welcomed surprise that it was possible to have a full breakfast at an earlier time). There is no question where I will stay at my next visit in Pitlochry.

Review 29:We enjoyed the, hospitality, the delicious food. The comfort of this Hotel is excellent, they cater for Theatre Visitors by serving an early dinner, and on return a wee nightcap & chat with other visitors in a lounge with a coal fire. The Hotel itself is very tastefully decorated, and compliments the 1890 Hotel . We will definitely go back to this excellent hotel,

Review 33:Excellent location, friendly hosts, excellent service - a bit "old fashioned", but in a very good way. Breakfast was very good, everything cooked to order and brought to the table. We can recommend the porridge. We have not had dinner, but other guests told us that it was excellent and also freshly cooked. Next time! We would definitely come again.

Deliciously varied menu for both Breakfast and Evening Meal. Traditional surroundings in a peaceful naturistic woodland setting and only a short walk from town centre. Neighbouring towns and other tourist destinations in Highland Perthshire were easily accessible by a very good local bus and rail service allowing the Birchwood Hotel to be an excellent base for longer stays.
