Reviews for The Kings Harbour Hotel

Review 1:We had an extremely spacious room (room 203) overlooking the green. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom too...could do with "grab" handles on the bath for extra safety. Super breakfast with plenty of choice. evening meals were great too (very tasty) -though one meal's portion was a little on the small side.Staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Parking is opposite which is not always easy to negotiate but we managed it! The hotel is central for walking around Christchurch town. An all together lovely hotel where staff are welcoming without being overbearing. Thanks to Chris -we gave him the runaround...he never complained. An excellent 2 nights stay

Review 2:Parking was a concern but is fine as long as you leave your key they can double park you. The lift was perfectly adequate but hilarious. 4 person capacity with the old fashioned doors

Review 3:The staff, bar and location were perfect. We had a problem with the shower but it was immediately addressed and the room rate discounted and some drinks paid for. Couldn't fault them.

Review 4:Hotel needs lounge area away from the bar which can be very busy of an evening with lots of noise.

Review 5:Excellent location, good food and value for money, room small but well kept with linen changed daily.

Review 6:Upgraded to rear double, very quiet, lovely spacious room and decor, excellent ensuite. Excellent breakfast choices and staff extremely kind to guests. All staff very helpful.

Review 7:Very convenient location - ideal for shops, restaurants and places of interest. Room very comfortable and quiet. Food in restaurant good quality/value for money.

Review 8:Close look would realise room not that clean. Didn't like email trying to sell upgrade. Good company would offer upgrade free if rooms available for future custom. Breakfast good quality but over zealous staff meaning cooked breakfast arriving before finishing cereal etc. Doing own toast

Review 9:Location was excellent the decor in general and the bar especially was great

Review 10:Was left a bit to long in the restaurant between courses and the wine we ordered was forgotten.

Review 11:Hotel was lovely and comfortable, with a relaxing vibe. Had a bar which served cocktails so made the place busy with people.

Review 12:No formal reception desk. Small details overlooked such as missing items of cutlery or dishes on breakfast buffet. No bathrobe in bedroom or biscuits for coffee/tea on tray. Parking can be a problem if arriving later in day

Review 13:Standard of rooms very good and location by the town centre convenient.

Review 14:Staff very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is excellent. Breakfast tasty and the hot breakfast is served by staff! We always like that. We will return as many times as we can. The smaller rooms on the 2nd floor are good with excellent bathrooms, but smaller Windows, and the larger rooms on the 1st floor are even more roomy and airy with larger windows. We like them all depending on what budget allows.

Review 15:we weren't informed about accessing free wifi. the room was rather small and although there was a small window the view was of no interest.

Review 16:very comfortable bed and shower room excellent light evening snack in bar excellent breakfast very courteous staff at all levels

Review 17:Room was okay but small. Carpets have seen better days, especially corridor and stairs. Slight smell of fish and chips in stairs due to massive extractor fan outside.

Review 18:Nice location near old castle, harbour and town centre.

Review 19:After leaving we thought we might have left an i-phone behind. Despite it being a busy Saturday with wedding guests etc the Head Receptionist & the housekeeping team went out of their way to try and locate for us. Their helpful attitude was v impressive.

Review 20:Location, although central for the town the street noise (people) didn't stop until midnight and the church bells sound every 15 minutes right through the night - absolutely no sleep!

Review 21:Staff were great and the hotel is beautiful

Review 22:Basically it is a nice hotel with good staff, facilities etc, but being a seasoned traveller I've stayed in many luxury hotels around the world and this one certainly did not warrant a price tag of £215 per night, even on a Bank Holiday weekend.

Review 23:Location

Review 24:Had to climb over the laundry to get to the room on arrival. Parking isn't brilliant but there are alternatives round the back so make sure to ask for help with directions - the staff are very helpful. Lift is tiny!

Review 25:Hotel is very nice - food was excellent though dinners a little pricey. Staff are extremely helpful and professional. Lovely room particularly the bathroom and very clean. Would definitely stay again as apart from minor glitches it was a lovely stay.

Review 26:The bedroom carpet could do with a clean! We thought it was quite expensive compared to other hotels which offered more for the money.

Review 27:We stayed the night for a family wedding. The wedding went perfectly and the quality of the food was excellent. We had a loft room which was very good but other members of our party were less satisfied with the standard of their rooms.

Review 28:The room was disappointing even though I knew it would be small. You could hear conversations through the walls and windows till the early hours and beyond. The electronic card to the room never worked. The cleaner let us in twice and on other occasions it had to be reprogrammed by reception. Breakfast on Sunday was a shambles. There was no service and no explanation, although it was obvious there was a staffing problem. Nothing had been refilled or tidied and we waited 45 mins for service. At this stage there was no apology. We felt most of the time that the focus was on wedding guests rather than other clients.

Review 29:The evening meal was good. The manager was friendly and professional.

Review 30:Stayed last year and the bar was a nice place to relax in the evening. The refurbishment has meant that this year the bar is very trendy and was very busy. Good for business but not for us - we went elsewhere.

Review 31:Central location, friendly staff, comfortable room and a good breakfast.

Review 32:Breakfast was poor. Cold and worst during our weeks stay at various locations in the area. No proper reception desk/area which was a bit strange. Need secondary glazing on roadside rooms as was a bit traffic noisey early morning.

Review 33:Lovely Hotel in great location. Very clean and comfortable with very pleasant staff

Review 34:We particularly liked the warm informal welcome on arrival and friendly attitude of the staff. We came to attend a wedding at the Pavillion and Harbour Hotel which was most enjoyable.

Review 35:Even with air con on the room was very hot. Shower was not designed for tall people.

Review 36:Beautiful room and bathroom very well decorated and clean. Very comfy bed.

Review 37:The parking is a bit of circus. Not entirely sure why they insist on playing music in the restaurant over breakfast on Sunday. Really soft mattress. Overpriced by about 10% to 20%

Review 38:Excellent and helpful service

Review 39:We paid £200 for Bed and breakfast and we're both disappointed with the breakfast. Tinned prunes and grapefruit and packets of cereal to start. We both opted for full English, the mushrooms were from a tin, I asked for crispy bacon but it was barely cooked and the scrambled eggs were runny. We had dinner in the restaurant the evening before which we felt was ok but nothing special.

Review 40:Staff were very polite and helpful. Room very clean and comfortable. Lovely location and view from room.

Review 41:Not really fair to comment on this as we were experiencing high temps the night we stayed and the lack of air conditioning made the room very stuffy and hot. We were given an extra fan so had one on each bedside table which was okay.

Review 42:Excellent hotel, from the moment we walked through the door all staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was amazing and as was the dinner and breakfast.

Review 43:I liked the lovely bright and uplifting atmosphere of the hotel. The staff were extremely pleasant and seemed to be working together so well and making the hotel experience a lovely one. Very comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant and food.

Review 44:No Bath only shower despite plenty of space in bathroom plus shower temp not constant. No telephone in room and despite asking twice we never got one. Poor Customer service. No Reception not practical

Review 45:Great Breakfast

Review 46:The service during breakfast was very poor. We waited for ages for someone to take our order and when it finally arrived, it was partly missing. When I asked where the rest was the waiter returned it to the kitchen but then just came back and said sorry they can't do the rest of the order (it was only mushrooms) but I think they just couldn't be bothered. They had a wedding group in so the Sunday breakfast was more like a rowdy pub with very loud and disruptive guests which made it very unenjoyable. I was having to shout to my partner on the other side of the table so that we could hear each other. Not very romantic or pleasant! I informed the receptionist and just got a rushed "yeah I know sorry about that" response which was very disappointing. We also got charged £2.50 for a newspaper! Ridiculous, they usually come as complimentary particularly when we spent so much on the room. The parking was a problem and the hotel had to take your car keys so they can move your car in your absence. This would have worked well had someone actually been present at reception. Unfortunately we had to keep searching for someone to give us our car keys every time we wanted to go out which was a real nuisance. The room was nice but very small and not worth the £190 we paid. I often stay in hotels in London and it appears that you get much better value for money elsewhere. Overall the hotel is nice but the service is poor.

Review 47:The hotel was clean and modern and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean and we slept well.

Review 48:Have had much better breakfast elsewhere, they need to practice scrabbled eggs!

Review 49:We upgraded room for £25 per night and it was well worth it, room was much bigger with seating area and double doors opening out onto the balcony between the two flags at the front of the Hotel, just had to go out and give a royal wave! Staff were very welcoming and attentive, will definitely go back again.

Review 50:Lack of a clear reception area was confusing. People wandered in and out of the hotel all day so I am not really sure how they keep it secure.

Review 51:Charming hotel - very busy. Room was up in the waves but still comfortable. Dinner was good. Awesome list of cocktails. Although parking was at a premium a space was saved for us which was really kind.

Review 52:The small room we had in the roof space was a bit on the hot side so we needed the fan on all night to stay cool.

Review 53:The location was excellent. Handy for everything in the town. Car parking whilst on-site was somewhat challenging if you didn't arrive early enough but enough car parks near it to not make that an issue. Staff very helpful and friendly and a busy bar ... good experience all round really

Review 54:Although the website refers to parking it does not explain where it is. The front parking is very limited and not signed. The instructions to the rear parking are inadequate in that the road signs to the rear access road are not clear/non-existent. The side of the bath is very high, too high I suspect for most women to get over into the bath. The full breakfast was not quite sufficient for the price and the drinks are over-priced.

Review 55:The staff were friendly and helpful except for the bar staff; the room was fine except for the bath

Review 56:Bedroom was very small and very expensive for what you received. Massively overpriced! Also bar staff seem to make up prices as they go along, same drinks came to several different amounts (all very expensive)!

Review 57:Location, with view over bowling green and Priory

Review 58:Disappointed with the first night's meal in the hotel. Catalogue of disasters and very expensive.

Review 59:Walking distance of everything. Very comfortable room.

Review 60:The Lift - We did have our 7 mth old daughter with us and the lift did prove a bit of a tight squeeze for a pushchair, parents & bags!

Review 61:The hotel is modern and relaxed. Our room on the second floor was very spacious as was the bathroom. The Staff were extremely polite and very helpful. We had dinner and breakfast, both were delicious. Would definitely recommend!

Review 62:water bottle and glasses were placed in bathroom. Not very hygenic!

Review 63:we could leave our car as the hotel is central to everything. The quay, shops, restaurants and church are all close by.

Review 64:Parking is not he best, the bar was lovely to sit at but I wasn't impressed with my cocktails.

Review 65:The hotel was immaculate, staff were very friendly and breakfast was very tasty. The room was very clean comfortable and the bathroom a good size. Great location would definitely stay again.

Review 66:Car parking facilities were not brilliant but we managed to park ok. If went to Hotel in peak season it could be difficult.

Review 67:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The Hotel was beautifully done out. The town centre was just round the corner and if you did not want to eat in the Hotel there are 3 pubs which are all excellent to visit.

Review 68:The Priory click bells ring every 15 minutes, even throughout the night. Best get a room around the side or back of the hotel.

Review 69:Dodd was good as was the friendliness of the staff

Review 70:Not really a bad experience but the parking was difficult. As guests, we were not able to have dinner because all tables were taken for 7.30 to 8pm. The menu looked very good, so we were rather disappointed. Maybe, there should be some suggestion from the Hotel that one should consider booking for dinner at least as soon as the accommodation is booked. We tried to book at 2.45pm while having a drink in the bar, having arrived at 2.30pm.

Review 71:The staff were very attentive in a very friendly and relaxed manner. The ambience was particularly warm.

Review 72:The original bar was closed while we were there which was disappointing. Felt that we should have been made aware of that on booking as we were going to meet friends for a drink there. But really look forward to the new bar opening as it looks lovely.

Review 73:This is a small hotel with a cosy feel. The service is excellent. Look forward to coming back to this hotel in the future.

Review 74:Really squeaky sash window which made a horrendous noise when opening. Breakfast not really explained well. We weren't directed to what we were welcome to so we didn't want to take for fear of it not being included. Plates cold so brekkie wasn't hot.

Review 75:Bed fantastic. Room lovely and clean as was bathroom. Good range if facilities in room. Iron, hair dryer, fridge etc. Staff very nice.

Review 76:Car park is limited at the Front. BUT there is a carpark at the rear.

Review 77:I have stayed here many times over the last year [2014] Always have had excellent service for Dinner & Breakfast. Food quality for Dinner Good, Breakfast Excellent!! Will certainly stay again.

Review 78:Needs a touch of paint in places, as stayed 2 years before and it was immaculate, but to be fair refurbishment is due to start in New Year. Evening food portions were small, although the food was excellent. Car parking an issue as not enough spaces.

Review 79:Staff were friendly and very helpful. Soft furnishings very tasteful. Good location. Breakfast was good served by a very friendly waiter. Will visit again, look forward to any deals in the future.

Review 80:This hotel is fabulous, loads of class with attentive staff. We stayed on a special deal but would definitely pay normal rates to stay again. Very close to town and within walking distance elf the beautiful priory.

Review 81:Parking can be difficult. There is an additional car park to the rear of the hotel in the courtyard although not mentioned on the website or brochures. .

Review 82:From the moment I arrived every member of staff was excellent, very friendly & helpful. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Christchurch & the surrounding areas. Great choice & quality for breakfast.

Review 83:Only minor niggles: we asked for a quiet room but were put next to the lift; the shower was so angled that the floor outside the shower cubicle got a good soaking every time we had a shower; plus not enough hooks! (although you are not alone in this: I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel which has enough hooks)

Review 84:We booked under a special offer for a room on the top floor which we were warned on the website would be smaller than the other rooms In the event we were perfectly happy with the size of the room and the en suite shower facilities were a good size as well. Being at the back, it was very quiet. The bed was a good size but a tad hard for our old bones. The staff were extremely helpful and informative, especially the very nice gentleman who served us breakfast. Dinner was very good.

Review 85:Rude waiter at breakfast Rooms need updating, poor decor and scruffy carpets not been touched for years. Lights fused twice in one day. Couldn't get back through gates, had to wait 20 minutes before we could contact anyone. Sockets loose on walls. Very noisy road in rooms at the front. Poor value at £159 b/b. Etc.,

Review 86:Restaurant brilliant Food exceptional but pricey Pedro wonderful waiter Convenient location Good choice at breakfast They have concentrated on restaurant and no interest in hotel side.

Review 87:After a very long day at a conference and family visiting, on the go for 12 straight hours, we really enjoyed the comfort of the bed. Out like a light! Staff very helpful and food delicious. And then there was the leisurely walk down by the river and round to the very big church. Good start to Sunday. Many thanks.

Review 88:Parking was a bit difficult as couldnt get in the car park and staff had to keep moving cars out the front. No light over the dressing table in bathroom

Review 89:Staff were extremely helpful, room comfortable, breakfast very nice

Review 90:Car park is small

Review 91:From the moment we arrived every member of staff was excellent, very friendly & helpful. Its in a great location for exploring Christchurch you dont need to use your car.

Review 92:Hot Loft Room which made our stay unacceptable Lack of Aircon due to it being a listed building however the manager has given us a free nights stay because of our bad nights sleep so we are looking forward to going back and sleeping in a bigger room on the 1st or 2nd floor

Review 93:Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly Food was divine! Interior is beautifully tasteful.

Review 94:Name is a bit odd, as it's really not close to the harbour, couldn't access the wifi at all, but didn't really care, nice to get away from it all.

Review 95:Lovely location, lovely hotel, excellent staff, great food. Pretty much faultless.

Review 96:Being fussy, an under-cooked apple desert which I must say was removed from my bill.

Review 97:Excellent room. Great value for money. Restaurant excellent except for under-cooked desert. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Nothing too much. Talk to them, they are what made it such an excellent stay.

Review 98:The room was far too hot

Review 99:The receptionist was very helpful and she helped us by letting us check in slightly early and also check out slightly later than planned. The room was large and the bed comfortable.

Review 100:Me and my son had a delightful time during our stay here and would definitely go back in the future.. Staff are very friendly and helpful... Loved it :))

Review 101:Booking.com website incorrect. Should read Kings Arms!!

Review 102:The Hotel is owned by a group which allows you use the Spar facility at the Kings Harbour Hotel. The breakfast was good and the staff are very friendly.

Review 103:parking - not clearly defined - as full at front and getting out of courtyard could be a little less hit and miss with exit and entrance Doors! We were on first floor and doors slamming very early below and also on corridor there should be improvement to closing springs. We made conscious effort to close ours quietly but easy just to just let slam. This spoilt what was an almost faultless stay. This could so easily be remedied. Dining - Also do not like wooden platters for food. Have no idea why you would chose this. I am probably being picky but there is no need. Various reasons, hygiene - can something that has had pork or fish (although cooked) be easily sterilized and does this not just make unnecessary extra work. I am not a health freak but you cannot improve on plain china unless trying to be trendy and you do not need to do this.

Review 104:Staff - all excellent - waiters faultless- reception staff excellent position in town very good breakfast cleanliness of rooms Good value for money Hotel attractive

Review 105:biggest gripe is that the parking is almost non existent. for my own convenience I used the council office car park about 500mtres from the hotel. between 7pm to 9am costs a pound. hotel is situated on a main road which can get noisy.

Review 106:the staff were very welcoming. room was clean and well maintained. breakfast was very good. ideally situated for visiting the town, quay and dorset.

Review 107:It was so hot and unbearably uncomfortable due to the lack of air conditioning. When we complained about this the staff agreed and tried their best to help out by changing our room and providing fans but it was still stiflingly hot and the staff asked us to complain because it has been going on so long and they have asked so many times for it to be sorted without success. Everything else was fine.

Review 108:car parking and then car park escaping

Review 109:All staff were so welcoming and friendly, high level of cleanliness, so sensible twist on accessing wifi through giving personal details instead of crazy passwords

Review 110:Food not cooked properly needed to return sausage, sausage can be unhealthy and could have made me ill if eaten uncooked I was then put off the rest of my breakfast. For this reason I would not return.

Review 111:Large clean rooms, good bathroom, clean sheets. soft comfortable mattress. Good choice of breakfast.

Review 112:I've stayed here a couple of times, the rooms are lovely and it has a great restaurant and cocktail bar too!

Review 113:No dislikes.

Review 114:Excellent hotel. Comfortable bed. Great food, fantastic location for visiting the surrounding area. Would definetlly visit again.

Review 115:The staff were surly, disinterested and at times downright rude.

Review 116:Room was excellent and the Wifi was the fastest I've ever seen in a hotel.

Review 117:Small room. Expensive. Windows dont close properly and bang all night. Breakfast overcooked.

Review 118:Good location

Review 119:Good clean room, restaurant seating dirty and worn

Review 120:Breakfast. Asked for lightly fried eggs. Served a long standing frizzle.

Review 121:Evening Dinner. Choice. Quality. Cuisine.

Review 122:Nothing bad, but there was quite an impersonal feel. The bathroom could have been cleaner

Review 123:Location was excellent. Breakfast was very good.

Review 124:warm welcome and friendly service

Review 125:Beds & pillows were uncomfortable.

Review 126:Staff very friendly & helpful

Review 127:The location

Review 128:Wuality hotel in excellent location

Review 129:Excellent staff, made you feel welcome.

Review 130:Comfort

Review 131:Nothing
