Reviews for Drovers Arms Hotel
Review 1:Nothing at all everything was brilliant
Review 2:Very friendly staff nothing was a bother to them ..very keen to please you and also brilliant with information.
Review 3:The walls were very thin and we had very inconsiderate people in the next room who were drunk and shouted and talked ALL night. There were hairs on the towels.
Review 4:Staff were friendly, good central location.
Review 5:Our window didn't fully close which created a draft and the door kept banging.
Review 6:Nice little pub, good size room and comfortable bed. Very good/powerful shower. Lovely breakfast/options. Friendly staff.
Review 7:Breakfast was wonderful. Plenty to choose from. We had a great choice of cereals, yoghurts and cooked breakfast with mushrooms, etc = adequate food on a plate.
Review 8:Arrived to be ignored by barmaid who was to busy on the pull only 2 towels in bathroom and no plug in bath ... Shower makes an awful noise
Review 9:breakfast staff in morning were fantastic
Review 10:Odd to enter through the pub but patrons friendly and helpful.
Review 11:Good location; helpful staff; good breakfast. Had a great dinner in a place very near. One of the best of our trip.
Review 12:Door slamming contest that started at 12:38 and lasted over an hour. Bar could do with being bigger but then there would be more noise - which wasn't that bad.
Review 13:Cosy,clean comfy. Lovely staff, genuine smiles and interest in guests. Really good hearty hot proper breakfast beautifully cooked and not made to feel in the way at anytime at all. Loved the way the building has been allowed to maintain its character but not at the expense of the guests.
Review 14:It was noisey - soundproofing between rooms was poor (not sure if it was the next door room, or the one below). I could hear every word from them (not shouting, normal voice) / their tele, and even snoring! The fire doors in the corridor banged loudly (not from people slamming them, but they have extremely slow self-closing devices that suddenly release at the last second). The shower screen had been fixed to the bath so I could only just reach the taps, and I have long arms! Apart from that, it was great!!
Review 15:Staff were friendly, location was central (which isn't very difficult in such a small town!) & easy to find. The room was a good size. The cooked breakfast was filling, and there was also cereal & unlimited toast, which I didn't have room for!
Review 16:Odd that under the new carpets, some of the lower level stairs were old & sagging.
Review 17:Good breakfast. centrally located without traffic noise. good tea making facilities in room. Comfy room.
Review 18:The window in our room wouldn't close so we had to endure the smell of smoke and the noise from said smokers until late into the night. The beds were so uncomfortable.
Review 19:The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast.
Review 20:Clean & comfy basic hotel accommodation. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good. If you want the Ritz it won't be for you.
Review 21:Steep flight of stairs to the room.
Review 22:We were expected. Room was clean and spacious. Charlene was welcoming and made us feel at home. Although no herbal teas were available, she went out of her way to make sure we had enough beverages and hot chocolate.
Review 23:We booked the hotel as we were in Carmarthen for a friend's wedding. We received a warm welcome, the parking took some time as it was cramped to say the least. There's not much they can do about that though and the staff were very helpful (the manager had gone out and moved their car when they'd seen we were parking). I had to mark the cleaning down slightly. The room was very clean but we did have a...*cough* brown visitor! Which did keep coming back to visit! There was probably a plumbing issue but as neither of us had ownership of the visitor it was a bit disgusting! The bed was very comfortable. And there was plenty on offer for breakfast. A continental buffet and the choice of a full "welsh". A very friendly lady came out to ask if we wanted this and got it out to us very quickly. I made the mistake of having some of the instant coffee which was disgusting (found out afterwards there would have been filter coffee available) Overall excellent value for money, incredibly friendly staff and a very comfortable bed to lay down your head at the end of the day.
Review 24:Pub in entrance was bit restless and it was bit unpleasant to pass through it when pub is open. In corridor there were light stink of mold. Rather plain but clean rooms.
Review 25:Good english breakfast and location near bus station and city center.
Review 26:Room was spacious. Bathroom clean and had a great bath Staff very friendly There was a sense of pride in the place - I stay in loads of places where that's a mystery concert.
Review 27:Wifi not available in rooms. There were stains over the chair in the room. One of the milk mini 'carton' that was there for coffee/tea had obviously split a long time ago and leaked inside the cup and had gone bad - obviously had not been touched for a while.
Review 28:The cooked breakfast was fantastic. It was all freshly cooked (not covered in grease) and certainly very tasty. Staff very friendly, and it had the important things i was looking for - comfortable bed, quiet room, good nights sleep, decent shower in the morning and great breakfast
Review 29:Bed was cheap and slats kept coming out Drawers were full of rubbish from pervious guests Window didn't close NO WIFI! Don't lie and say there is when there isn't
Review 30:Staff were so friendly and helpful Breakfast was great Lovely bathroom Lots of storage space Quiet despite being in a pub
Review 31:Noise of music from bar after midnight but I realise that a Saturday night is probably the busiest night,
Review 32:Hospitality Cleanliness Comfortable room Good breakfast
Review 33:For the first time ever I had to pay upfront! I now know why, no one could be bothered to get up and cook breakfast, not even the proprietor when he aventuly arrived minus any sort of apology. The same thing happened the 2nd morning on which we had to leave early on another empty stomach! There was nobody around when we left to ask for a refund from!
Review 34:Location
Review 35:1)Parking Not very good, any more than 2 cars and you have too juggle them about Had to get up in the morning and move mine 2)Missed cooked breakfast chef didnt turn up 3)Rooms were cold
Review 36:Staff where friendly
Review 37:Room infested by smoke??? Very cold bedding and heating If you are used to washing with soap and water Remember to bring your own soap,as Drovers is not used to it.
Review 38:town position
Review 39:Well situated, walking distance from town centre. Clean, comfortable with all amenities (tea, coffee,tv,en suite, wifi) Breakfast fine, didn't have evening meal.
Review 40:The sheets smelled of cigarette smoke and the whole room smelled a bit smokey. Breakfast wasn't very good.
Review 41:Comfortable bed, very quiet, good location
Review 42:Punters who book a room above a boozer & then complain they are staying in a room above a boozer!
Review 43:Cheapest bed in town at time of booking, and, FOR THE PRICE, very good value. Recently refurbished, clean, and adequate breakfast. Ticked all the boxes. Great location in town too.
Review 44:Being lazy there is no lift but it only has 2 floors to drag yourself up after a days work
Review 45:Made to feel welcome on arrival room and bathroom good size and clean Breakfast good not too much which isn't a bad thing in the morning Bar has sky sports and lovely bar staff
Review 46:I suffer from a bad back and the bed was a little too soft for me. Although I am sure it would be perfectly acceptable for someone with a normal back.
Review 47:Staff warm friendly and efficient. Breakfast fantastic Cleanliness exceptionally good Town shopping and facilities very good Will definitely stay again
Review 48:In order to get free parking during your stay you MUST park outside the hotel but there are only limited spaces.
Review 49:The room was comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities (which I needed after a long day). There were plenty of restaurants etc. in the near vicinity giving me plenty of choice for an evening meal. Cooked breakfast is served from 7am onwards meaning those of us who have any early start can wake up with a good start to the day.
Review 50:No problems at all..
Review 51:Great place to relax and location was excellent for touring to the Brecon Beacons and the Gower Peninsula..The staff in the hotel were very helpful and made our stay most enjoyable..We had secure parking at the rear of the hotel for our motorcycles..
Review 52:Those using the out-door smoking area were somewhat loud, and some of the rooms are directly above this area.
Review 53:Excellent breakfast. The rooms have been re-furbished and were very nice. The staff were very helpful.
Review 54:Bed was not good, no where to put a laptop and the screaming, yawping drunk women (?) were rather annoying when trying to sleep (thats being polite)
Review 55:Staff were very friendly and helpful, location excellent, breakfast was spot on.
Review 56:noisy at weekends and maybe new beds they were comfortable but noisy.
Review 57:friendly run place and very nice place to stay. clean and fresh.breakfast very nice
Review 58:Black mold around bath and shower. Walking through crowded drunks at bar to get to rooms upstairs. Having to listen to people in beer garden outside until past midnight.
Review 59:Nothing!
Review 60:very basic rooms. Could be noisy from the public bar area in the evenings as our room was not too far away from smoking area below. The room was quite dark as it looked out on to a grey wall. I think if you were only staying one or two nights it would be fine but we booked for seven days.
Review 61:Excellent breakfasts friendly staff nice restaurant room clean accommodation and bedding liked having TV with DVD player
Review 62:Because the price was so cheap I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised . Huge comfy bed, lovely breakfast and very close to the town centre.
Review 63:The booking said no need to book parking.....wrong! I had to park on the public road and move to a pay and display car park by 8am. The hotel car park which is big enough for only about 6 cars had 2 large builders van and one car in.
Review 64:Breakfast was excellent and very well prepared.
Review 65:Even though rooms are upstairs from the bar, my room was lovely and quite. My room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfy. But the best bit by far, was breakfast, the chef cooked my scrambled eggs perfectly :)
Review 66:Nothing to dislike.
Review 67:We were more than surprised by the nice room. Walking into a small town pub and considering the low price we expected nothing. However, the hallway and rooms seemed freshly renovated. The bathroom was new and very clean. The breakfast was very nice since freshly made. Personal was helpful and cleared parking spot for us. We learned not to do judge anything by the outside! We can only recommend it!!!
Review 68:The water in the shower was cold. It required switching on the fan to become warm and operational. The previous occupants must have switched the circuit off as it was noisy. Noise was also apparent when the bar was open, as sound was transmitted upwards through the canyon of bricks which surrounded the allleyway just outside the bedroom window, though staff successfully managed the opening hours of the pub which mitigated the intrusion.
Review 69:We enjoyed the friendly helpful staff, and the well cooked morning breakfast. The hotel was very convenient for Bulwark Park and the town centre, as it was also a good base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. We stayed for two nights while we attended a local event as participants.
Review 70:The room was over a very busy pub, so for the one night we stayed in the room it was very loud until closing time. Not a problem for us but could bother other people.
Review 71:The staff were friendly and very accommodating in allowing us an early check in. The room was clean and the breakfast was very nice.
Review 72:walls are thing, drunk people runing in the corridors shouting & fighting (fueled from the pub downstairs), was a struggle to get some good night sleep.
Review 73:staff great, breakfast & the chef superb
Review 74:Music from bar was rediculous when trying to sleep at 23:00 at night whilst trying to sleep!! Must really hard fpr local residents if that is happening on a daily basis!! Baring in mind this was mid week and on weekends it is probably louder. Stay there regularily as its cheapest with out being to bad.
Review 75:Breakfast area cold. No heating on when arrived. Had to check radiators and turn on. Not enough tea and coffees. Milk etc.
Review 76:Hosts very friendly
