Reviews for The Brewery Tap
Review 1:POOR CHECK IN BREAKFAST IS A FRIDGE AND HOT DRINKS MACHINE (POOR) WITH SUPERMARKET PRODUCE INCLUDING MILK THAT WAS A MONTH OUT OF DATE
Review 2:LOCATION ROOM WELL FURNISHED NICE SHOWER COMFY BED
Review 3:Heating didn't work well.
Review 4:Open on Christmas night, though with minimal staffing. Well designed newly fitted rooms. Coped well other a mix up over rooms.
Review 5:We couldn't fault it. The service was excellent but not intensive. we were left with a full range of breakfast items to help ourselves to it was perfect and the gluten free options we brilliant.
Review 6:The room was immaculate and the bathroom was beautiful. Everything was very clean. We were staying in a group of 3 couples so we had the whole upstairs to ourselves which was fun and felt like having our own apartment. The fridge was stocked with a great selection of food including fruit, sausage rolls and a range of cheeses and hams which was a lovely surprise.
Review 7:Breakfast was help yourself and limited considering they did such lovely food. We were told by a member of staff that no one gets up early enough to cook breakfast. As the room rate was over £100 per night I would expect breakfast
Review 8:Lovely room and shower
Review 9:Although the bedroom was very nice it was a bit noisy from traffic in the morning. It could do with double glazing.
Review 10:Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good food. Very nice bedroom.
Review 11:Atmospheric pub, friendly and helpful staff and lovely food. Lots of homemade recipes and good menu choices priced very reasonably. Good room attached to the bar for party groups.
Review 12:When you are in the room it is like you are inside de pub....with music techno until 3 AM IN THE MORNING....NO POSSIBLE TO SLEEP.VERY VERY NOISY. When i arrive it was very cold in the room.no heaten....No reception...in the bar they don't know where it is for to open the heaten.... NO REAL BREAKFAST BECAUSE THEY GO TO SLEEP AT 3 AM AND THEY COME BACK AT 12.NO BODY FOT A BREAKFAST AND YOU PAY IT......In the corridor they put some old sausage in a plastic bag in a storage .no normal breakfast...IT IS INCROYABLE NEVER I SEE A HOTEL LIKE THAT...NO SLEEP NO BREAKFAST... I WAS VERY UNHAPPY.....
Review 13:A horrible night...
Review 14:Car parking is quite limited.
Review 15:The spacious bedroom was welcoming and was attractively styled in keeping with the old building. We could easily have spent a lot of the evening in the lovely pub downstairs however I was running Abingdon marathon the next morning so it was an early night in the super comfortable bed instead.
Review 16:Breakfast was poor, coffee machine could have done with a clean, the coffee tasted very acrid. I would expect more for the price. Cleaners didn't remove last occupants shower gel or shampoo. If this was provided by the establishment I would suggest decanting out of branded bottles into something smaller.
Review 17:Room was lovely and to a high spec
Review 18:because of health problems I did struggle with the stairs a little bit.
Review 19:I found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was exactly as the photograph on the website (which you do not always get) the modern décor of the room sat well with in the quirkiness of the building. I loved the fact that you could have a game of crib. The pub had a friendly buzz with lots going on.
Review 20:The town isn't as good as it used to be , the hotel itself was quite near a major road so was noisy , but liked the room and staff so not all good but had many good points
Review 21:Somewhat noisy from traffic, but that is to be expected, given its very convenient location.
Review 22:The staff could not have made us feel more at home, very friendly. Good choice of beers and excellent "pub grub"
Review 23:We arrived a fair bit later than we would have liked because of traffic and only had 30 minutes to get freshened up and changed, and get to the wedding venue but, was asked to pay for our rooms then and there. I couldn't find my credit card because of my panic, so my dad paid for my room as well as his, so that we could get on. I had been told that we would not need to settle our bill until we checked out, so this was an added worry at the little time we had. The wedding had to be held up for a short while, until we arrived there, so it was an anxious time for us all. Good job everyone concerned was so understanding. The stairs up to our rooms (nos. 2 and 3) were quite steep and, as my dad is 84 years of age, was very difficult for him. My dad ended up staying in room 2 and I took room 3, as it was up additional stairs. It may be helpful to make people aware of the steepness and curve of the stairs when they book, as anyone with difficulty using stairs could find themselves with some considerable problem.
Review 24:My dad and me travelled to Abingdon to attend my nieces wedding, which took place at The Crown & Thistle Hotel, was arranged for 12.00 noon on Saturday, 19th September. We were very kindly allowed to use one of the rooms we had booked, to freshen up in and leave our belongings there until we returned in the evening (which was 10.00pm). This was very much appreciated by us. Tom's instructions were extremely helpful for us to walk the quick distance between the Brewery Tap and The Crown & Thistle Hotel, rather than having to think about getting a taxi. The breakfast facility was extremely good. We were able to help ourselves to all kinds of food. There was something for everyone, whatever your particular preference, and it was all lovely and fresh.
Review 25:Bathroom wash basins rather high and taps oddly placed. Towels for one only whereas the room was for 2. Poor, used toiletries. Very poor breakfast facilities - awful tea and coffee machine - open packs of food.
Review 26:Lovely rooms - really clean and comfortable. Friendly helpful staff but not really overly concerned with the hotel aspects of the premises.
Review 27:Can be very noisy with music and people downstairs until 1-2am (Saturday night) but we were in Abingdon for a party anyway so didn't bother us! Wouldn't stop us going back!
Review 28:Room was amazing. Staff were lovely.
Review 29:The only thing to be aware of is the noise outside. The accommodation is on a main road and it is noisy at night. The windows are not double glazed so you can hear everything. Normally I can sleep through anything but, after a busy day at work, I struggled!
Review 30:A lovely place to stay, with friendly staff and comfy rooms.
Review 31:The only issue is that the stairs to the room are extremely steep so would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems
Review 32:The brewery tap is in the centre of abingdon making it an ideal base for exploring. The room was large and comfortable with an excellent walk in shower. The breakfast was help yourself from a selection of items outside the room.
Review 33:On a main road (literally), so the bedrooms at the front can get a bit noisy when the traffic starts.
Review 34:Fantastic real ales (CAMRA pub of the year) and food.
Review 35:The room was very noisy with a busy road outside and lots of busses etc going right past our window. We also had the joy of a live band till midnight and then music till 1am. While I understand the room us above a pub there was no mention of this at booking and it really was very loud. Also we asked for a cot (which they could not provide) so they knew we had a young baby and yet still never mentioned the noise. It was probably one of the worst nights sleep we have ever had.
Review 36:The room was lovely and located very close to lots of places to eat.
Review 37:Breakfast - help yourself from a supply on the landing. Cereal was provided, but the bowls and milk had all been used by others. The pub was crowded and noisy until late - but probably because we arrived on day of the Morris Men event at the pub.
Review 38:Clean and comfortable room and bed. Easy walk to town centre.
Review 39:Room two was very noisy due to late night music played in bar underneath on 27/03/2015 until 2.10 am, patrons carousing until 3.00. Would benefit from double-glazing to windows facing Ock Street.
Review 40:Friendly helpful staff
Review 41:Being a pub and a Saturday night a live band played until midnight (they were very good!). The proximity of the main road meant that there was a fair amount of traffic noise. The small car park meant getting a space was hit-and-miss.
Review 42:Convenient location for Abingdon Town. Nice room - spacious, clean and well equipped. Nice bathroom, friendly staff.
Review 43:The breakfast was not as good as most B&Bs. It was a self service fridge and counter area, with breakfast eaten in your room. While the cereal was very good there were only 3 croissants which were not very fresh, no other bread or bagels and there was no butter.
Review 44:Room was modern, clean and comfortable.
Review 45:It is in downtown Abingdon so parking is limited. Nevertheless the staff works real hard to be sure you can park.
Review 46:Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was fastidously clean. The location is close to many restaurants and pubs.
Review 47:We were there beause our son's house did not have the space for us as well as our daughter and son in law plus a friend of our daugter in low. Given the time we were there there was virtually no contact with staff, hence the blanks
Review 48:Lack of cooked breakfast
Review 49:Luke the bar man was a absolute gem made me very welcome in a strange town but very professional and courteous a credit to the team there The new evening menu and meal I chose was excellent having travelling around the country on business this is one place that's already in my diary
Review 50:No 'square pin' plugs worked in room so unable to charge lap-top or phone. No hot drinks available as machine wasn't working. Quiz night in the bar beneath my room went on past 10.30am and I had to get up at 6am. Toilet roll nearly out and no replacement in bathroom.
Review 51:Good location, friendly welcome, lovely room and en-suite, comfortable bed.
Review 52:Loud pub quiz below our room till at least 11.30. Bed shaking with lorries going past from early the next day. Nice shutters but no curtains to muffle sound from busy road. The self service breakfast would have been lovely but the hot drinks machine was broken and there were no cups. Had to call for help which was immediate and friendly. Only one set of towels in the room for two of us. Mattress is old and slopes to middle.
Review 53:Nice change from the usual business hotel. Good parking and handy for places to eat. Friendly, helpful staff. Characterful room.Well appointed bathroom.
Review 54:Lovely pub with tastefully decorated rooms. Extremely comfortable. Very friendly helpful staff. Loved the help yourself breakfast, lots of choice. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
Review 55:Breakfast - all pre packed and set out on the landing, it would have been nicer to have had these set up in each room as it would have been easy and much more acceptable. It would have ensured there were tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Review 56:Lovely room nice size. Nice walk in shower
Review 57:Sleeping in a room above a pub that didn't close until 1am with loud music/people talking etc. and next to a main street.
Review 58:Excellent room, plenty of space, clean. Help yourself to continental breakfast at your leisure.
Review 59:The hotel is right on the main street - I was particularly unlucky to be staying when the fair was on which meant lots of noise until 1am when they finally finished packing up. Noise then started up again before 6am with trucks trundling loudly up and down the road. You could literally hear every word that was said out on the street which was extremely disruptive to my night's sleep.
Review 60:The room was lovely, well appointed, spacious and clean. Staff were friendly
Review 61:Our rep was very disappointed there was no cooked breakfast. Advertising says Bed/Breakfast but nothing about Continental only being available. Therefore for that reason Value for money was Fair only, and would re consider next time whether to book. Only booked this time as nothing else available at time of booking.
Review 62:Rm 2 was quite a noisy room Small Leak into our room from bathroom above (this was getting fixed as we left).
Review 63:Room Size Help yourself buffet Comfort of bed Wi Fi Location Friendliness of the staff
Review 64:Wifi a bit patchy and would have loved tea/coffee facilities in room instead of just outside but neither were a particular problem.
Review 65:Beautifully decorated rooms, great location, friendly staff and self service breakfast.
Review 66:No cooked breakfast, however the DIY continental near the bedrooms was surprisingly good
Review 67:Lady lady extremely helpful Room great Location good Overall a really nice overnight stay for Oxford Didn't dine but food looked good

Review 71:Only one bath towel provided and hand towel had holes in. Very poor facilities
Review 72:Location
