Reviews for Clarion Suites Narbonne Ile du Gua

Review 1:The bar/restaurant is not open on Sunday evening so you are obliged to walk into town or to try to find a supermarket and make your own dinner. The kettle which is stuck on a wooden tray is not near a socket so you have to move the entire thing into the tiny kitchen area each time you want to use it, which is quite inconvenient as it then takes up the whole surface space there!!

Review 2:The staff were excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable about the town and surrounding area. Great to be offered free parking! Lovely location with a nice walk along the canal into the town centre (but it is a good 15 minute walk).

Review 3:Nothing to dislike

Review 4:The room was well furnished, had a balcony and cooking facilities ( it was an apartment) The restaurant is overlooking the Canal du Midi and the food is excellent

Review 5:It wasn't really bad, but you might expect a modern design to have given more thought to noise pollution.

Review 6:Lovely suburban location; cool, modern room; friendly staff.

Review 7:I didn't like having to leave very early next morning for a flight! (Hotel offered to provide early breakfast, but would have been too rushed to enjoy.)

Review 8:Spacious, stylish and comfortable room, fitted and equipped to a very high standard. Charming location. Free underground parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hot tub and private balcony much appreciated extra features.

Review 9:The mosquitoes on the restaurant terrace a real problem in spite of citronella smoke .

Review 10:Friendly helpful staff. Suites were very spacious and clean . Food served in Le moulin restaurant superb and gourmand menu good value.

Review 11:The canal was barely visible from the 3rd floor. Instead the train tracks dominated the view.

Review 12:Room was huge and the patio was even bigger. Kitchenette was nice. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast on the patio during our one night stay.

Review 13:The hotel is a bit of a walk down the canal from the centre of town. It is a flat, easy walk and pleasant. But if one doesnt like walking itcould be an issue. The taxis are charge ridiculous fares for the short hop.

Review 14:We stayed three nights. Nice bed, spacious room, cool jaccuzi with color lights, kitchinette enabled us to get a few groceries and fend for ourselves.

Review 15:If you have problems with the light while you are sleeping, please, it is not your hotel. There are not curtains. Morever, there are a bit noise even though the situation. The jacuzzi is a good idea if you are come from The Shire of The Lord of the Rings and the balcony is very disty and there is no privacy.

Review 16:The bed was the most important thing that I can aim

Review 17:There are no curtains/blinds, only the wooden slats for the terrace; So morning light comes straight into the room. Though masks were offered.

Review 18:Huge room. Great location by the canal. Spa bath was great.

Review 19:Breakfast a little pricey at 16 euros each but very good quality.

Review 20:Quality of the rooms and facilities, staff are very friendly and helpful. Jacuzzi in the room as well as a superb shower. Private balcony and excellent self catering facilities (although we only used the fridge as only staying on a one night stop over.

Review 21:Jacuzzi tub in the bedroom was wasted space, not needed.

Review 22:I loved the restaurant attached to the hotel. It made the stay memorable. The waitstaff was exceptional as well as the food and ambiance. Also, the front desk staff was excellent!

Review 23:Nothing we did not like

Review 24:Lovely airy rooms, large balcony, jacuzzi in room, walk-in shower for older guests. All staff, were very friendly and helpful. Could not fault it

Review 25:The cost of breakfast was too much at 15 euros and the restaurant was expensive too. It was quite difficult to find. Needs to have blinds or curtains in the room as the slats on the terrace were not able to keep out the light in the morning so we woke early.

Review 26:loved the setting, on a weir, nice gardens, it was very quiet - not many people about but suited us. Once we found it it was and easy 15 minute walk into a very pretty town. The jacuzzi was exceptional and the balcony was lovely.

Review 27:The suite was a very generous size, and the little kitchen was great, hob, sink, tea and coffee, fridge and freezer, cutlery and pots and pans. Bathroom was efficient and very clean. Whirlpool bath was fun and relaxing. The meal in the restaurant was very good, if the service was a little slow to begin with. Restaurant is attractive by the side of the mill stream and canal. Took a lovely walk along the canal to the town. would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 28:There is no way to call the front desk from the room. No room service for food. There seemed to be a problem with chamber service over the weekend.

Review 29:Everything was very nice. The staff was very kind and helpful. I only got the name of. Katy, but the other young lady was just as wonderful.

Review 30:Nothing to dislike unless you prefer staying in the centre of town.

Review 31:It looks a bit like a 60s throwback from the outside but inside everything is up to date and very comfortable. We were met by the owner who very proudly showed us round and invited us to a complimentary cocktail in the terrace bar later that evening which we graciously accepted! We were on the top floor which had a balcony and a lovely view over the gardens & canal. The room itself was very spacious and had a small kitchenette which meant we could make tea & coffee & keep our drinks cold in the fridge. The buffet breakfast was comprehensive but rather expensive. There is a small Spar supermarket only 5 minutes walk away so on our second morning we bought fresh bread & croissants & ate them on our balcony. Narbonne is about a 15 minute pleasant, easy walk along the canal path which is well lit at night. Onsite parking and pleasant, helpful staff all went towards making an enjoyable stay.

Review 32:The hotel seems to be popular with groups of young people who want to party and the layout of the place with shared terraces means that the noise at night, at least during my stay, was really intolerable. The staff were sympathetic but didn't seem able to deal with the issue. It's a shame as it spoilt what would otherwise have been a lovely stay.

Review 33:The location is great - a short walk from the centre of town and the rooms are lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:We were able to check in early. Rooms were spacious and clean. Very helpful staff. Short walk to the town. Excellent daily food market from 9am-2pm.

Review 36:Very expensive breakfast which we didn't bother with. Should be included in the price, especially as it was only continental!

Review 37:The enormous bath in our room. The bed linen was lovely. The feeling that we were in a wooden cabin was great. And the noise of the flowing stream ... Gorgeous and super relaxing.

Review 38:Hotel shuts down during the afternoon

Review 39:Location, but 15 minutes walk into town Nice restaurant next to canal Friendly staff Freshly squeezed juices for breakfast

Review 40:We were 11 guys from the UK on a driving holiday this being our first night everything met our expectations. The rooms were very modern and comfortable and albeit we arrived late, the Restaurant was able to providean excellent meal. The owners were very helpful and accommodating, we would certainly stay there again with our partners.

Review 41:20 euros a day for a small dog perhaps a little excessive.

Review 42:Bright, clean apartments with most everything you need in the kitchenette. Really friendly staff. Restaurant with good food adjoining the hotel. Access to walks along the canal and reasonable easy walking distance to the centre of Narbonne. Dogs welcomed.

Review 43:Lovely room and friendly staff - very pretty location. Ability to make own breakfast.

Review 44:Very quiet place for a week-end holiday, with a plus of a jacuzzi in your room. Friendly staff.

Review 45:Wonderful staff. Fantastic tranquil location and restaurant.

Review 46:Very few people using the hotel, little info to tempt you into restaurant. Lobby poor, nothing near the hotel.

Review 47:Large room, good bed, quiet hotel

Review 48:Need taxi from station. Long walk if no taxi.

Review 49:Good environment and easy walk to centre.

Review 50:Location was outside of town, difficult to travel for food or entertainment

Review 51:Parking !

Review 52:Bar/restaurant attenant sur compte séparé

Review 53:Le balcon

Review 54:wifi en panne restaurant fermé le lundi

Review 55:belle chambre balcon

Review 56:The hotel is close to the center of Narbonne, is very clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again if we are in that area again.

Review 57:These are fairly minor issues: wifi didn't work. Breakfast expensive at €15 pp but with the kitchen facilities you can easily do your own. Pet supplement high at €20.

Review 58:Large room, large bed, interesting layout, jacuzzi bath in bedroom. Kitchenette very useful, nice balcony. Park next door which was handy as we had a dog with us. Very friendly staff.

Review 59:Very helpful friendly staff. Wonderful large balcony and comfortable studio apartment with micro wave. 15 minute walk along the Robine canal into the very interesting town. Excellent Bistro on site and lots of restaurants in the busy town. Narbonne is well placed for visiting many other towns and attractions.

Review 60:1. Nowhere to stand your soap or shampoo on in shower cubicle. 2. Very dirty balcony 3. Unstaffed on arrival and where made to wait in the car for an hour before they unlocked the front door, after a 6 hour drive. 4. Hotel felt unused and empty, did not see anyone else other than one receptionist and one cleaning lady

Review 61:1. Beautiful setting 2. Large rooms with lovely kitchenette

Review 62:Money was taken out of our cc without asking us on arrival and when wecame to pay in euros after our 2 day stay, we found out they had alreadyobtained their payment from our cc which they had on file from ouroriginal booking. Definitely not on.

Review 63:The location is a mile or so from the centre of Narbonne, Beware that the Brasserie is closed on Sunday and Monday evenings. The breakfast was good quality but the choice was limited for the price.

Review 64:Huge room with balcony. Well provided kitchenette with utensils etc. Very spacious overall. The associated Bar/Brasserie was excellent. the surrounding gardens and streams were lovely.

Review 65:Maybe a kitchen knife and a bread board - after all it is the best bread in the world and hard to do anything with just dining knives. We managed!

Review 66:A stunning location. Lovely room with private balcony and a Jacuzzi. Management could not have been more helpful speaking English far better than we spoke French! Could not recommend more highly. Narbonne is such a pretty town and the walks along the canal are just brilliant. This is the best property we have ever stayed in. 10/10. Thank you.

Review 67:No blinds. The room was not that cleaned. The balcony had lots of spider webs. The restaurant was closed and the hotel seemed new but empty and somehow unfinished. Also, it is 20 minutes walking from downtown Narbonne.

Review 68:The bathtub in the room was nice.

Review 69:The shutters did not do a great job of keeping the room dark. If that is likely to bother you, make sure you take an eye-mask!

Review 70:Lovely room; lots of space; decent wifi and only 15mins pleasant walk along the Canal into the centre of Narbonne.

Review 71:The apartment could do with some pictures etc a bit bland Signage to location could be improved

Review 72:Very good welcome, good apartment, well equiped Very good on site resturant Good location

Review 73:The telephone in the room did not work. We had to physically go to the reception to order room service. Due to light leaking through the roman style slats in the morning, it would be preferred to have blinds in the room. The restaurant closed to early, it was not possible to eat after 9:30pm

Review 74:The room was well equipped and extremely comfortable.

Review 75:We liked everything about the hotel

Review 76:The first thing you notice when you arrive at the Clarion Suites-Ilede Gua, is how quiet and peaceful the area is. The hotel staff wasvery helpful and assured us we were not too late for dinner. When weentered our room, what a delightful surprise, it was very large, witha jacuzzi, a wonderful work area, and a large bench for your suitcase. The decor was bright but warm with light coloured walls and hardwoodfloors and cupboards in a warm reddish-brown. Rather than curtains, there are wooden blinds on the windows in the same colour tone as thefloors. There was even a small kitchenette. Through sliding glassdoors is a balcony, overlooking the garden, canal and old stone millhousing the restaurant. It is a beautiful view and so quiet. Thebalcony has a table and chairs and it would have been a wonderfulplace to enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif had we been staying longer.Although the hotel is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of thecity centre, it was only about 5 minutes to the main street. This is avery modern hotel so you don't have to worry about elevators andWiFi. Everything you need is there.

Review 77:Loved the situation on Canal du Midi. Food excellent. Staff gave that bit extra. Rooms amazing - far exceeded our expectations. Quirky Jacuzzi in bedroom was fun. So comfortable and so clean. Quite brilliant, actually.

Review 78:The place was very clean but was disappointed to come back to our dishes from the previous evening niot washed and bins not emptied

Review 79:Sound of the water being by the canal. Good spacious room.

Review 80:Luxury apartment, close to Narbonne yet felt like it was in the country. Very sunny large apartment on the top floor was requested and that was what we got. Very good value

Review 81:The only thing was the Brasserie Flo which is a bad restaurant in all respects.... I will say no more.

Review 82:lovely spacious accommodation with kitchen and balcony. Very informative staff.Rooms cleaned regularly. Narbonne is an interesting, peaceful and relaxing city. Canals are a centre of interest and a pleasant walk to and from the hotel. Lots of places to visit by car in the vicinity,

Review 83:The room is large and very cosy with a lit of wood decor. Jacuzzi was great ;) The balcony is a nice place for dinner. Supermarket is in walking distance.

Review 84:There really isn't much to dislike. If you are a late sleeper...which is a waste of a holiday in place like Narbonne...you might be bothered by the light leaking in through the roman style slat window coverings.

Review 85:Lovely, well-designed hotel in a tranquil setting with very accommodating staff. The rooms are well-equipped, roomy, and extremely comfortable with great balconies. The Brasserie Flo attached in the old mill is very good quality food with excellent service and superb ambiance. The sound of the water flowing by and the location next to the Canal du Robine is very enchanting, with a very pleasant,15 minute walk to lovely downtown Norbonne. We hadn't planned initially on staying in Narbonne, but we are very glad we did...both the hotel and city are charming. We were travelling by car, and the hotel accommodates that type of travel extremely well with free, underground parking available.

Review 86:The Clarion Suites are very new and high spec. accomodation on the Canal de la Robine on the northern edge of Narbonne. Our room was beautifully designed and equipped, with a corner jacuzzi to complete the luxury package. The room also had a hob, fridge and microwave, as well as a balcony with table and chairs. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and accommodating when we arrived on our dusty bikes.

Review 87:Nothing, it was great!

Review 88:Great little find in Narbonne. Lovely big rooms and nice location by the canal. Very friendly staff who helped with a drink even though the brasserie was closed. Nice walk to town along the canal. Parking on site.

Review 89:The room didn't have curtains so we were unable to wake up after 8 am due to the amount of sunlight that entered the room. At night the exterior lights were also a little bit annoying.

Review 90:The surrounding environment and the bedroom.

Review 91:Flies outside on balcony made it unusable but can't blame hotel for that.

Review 92:The kitchenette was nice touch we were travelling in hotels for a while so it was nice to have our own food. walk into Narbonne centre along the canal was fabulous

Review 93:No bar for just sitting and observing over a beer!

Review 94:Fabulous gardens, water garden and river views. Jacuzzi in the bedroom huge bed charming receptionist.

Review 95:We couldn't get the adapter to connect behind the tv- not enoughroom for it. The desk was directly below the tv. Unfortunately myhusband had to plug it in across the room and try to work on the bed.

Review 96:The staff went out of their way to accommodate us in English which we soappreciated! They cared about our experience both at the hotel and onour entire excursion. Very very caring, patient and helpful creating ourdrive to Carcasonne, sites to see, directions, etc. when we left myhusband's suit coat with his passport at the hotel they wereextremely caring and helpful in our dilemma. We plan to come back whenthe weather warms up and take advantage do the barge/ taxi service!

Review 97:Spacious room, well equipped kitchenette, private outdoor sitting area, on quiet picturesque part of canal

Review 98:Wifi not working in the room. The balcony was not cleaned.

Review 99:A very nice room with a large bed and a fantastic jacuzzi!

Review 100:Loved the room. Excellent restaurant, with extremely helpful staff. Would definitely return.

Review 101:The water was tooooo hot in the shower!

Review 102:Comfy bed, nice quite location, nice jacuzzi bath!

Review 103:Breakfast was very poor. Better to eat in the city.

Review 104:Position

Review 105:The setting was amazing

Review 106:The towels too Small

Review 107:Restaurant poor service. Food while nice over priced.

Review 108:Nice staff

Review 109:The room was lovely with all mod cons, situated next to the canal du Midi and handy for the centre of Narbonne

Review 110:Could have been closer to the town center

Review 111:Rooms were very comfortable Pet friendly Quit position Very good breakfast

Review 112:Noisy people on the balcony above us until 1am.

Review 113:Everything, very impressed, especially with the young man on reception when we arrived
