Reviews for Stradey Park Hotel

Review 1:THere are areas of this hotel that look a bit tired - such as the carpets on the stairs, plus the tolirts are in particulry poor condition.

Review 2:Good staff - plus good dining facilities

Review 3:Hallways needed to be inline with rest of the deco. Spa was not open however i believe they have a refurb in January 2016.

Review 4:Staff were friendly, hotel reception and rooms were very clean. Rooms need to have better TV channels, unfortunately due to xmas i could not see the Spa.

Review 5:One room I got for my daughter had two tatty cushions on the bed . We had a small crack in the bath . Otherwise I couldn't complain. Would be better for them to put entertainment on but as it was Jan 4th , maybe they didn't because of time of year and not many guests .

Review 6:The rooms were lovely and cosy , the bed was very comfortable . The TV, and wi fi was excellent . The room was very clean , tea and coffee in room . Lovely view from window. The staff were very helpful and pleasant . The food was beautiful in the evening . Also the room service and breakfast in the morning was excellent .

Review 7:Restaurant as a bit disappointing not a lot of choice and senior staff not v.friendly.

Review 8:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely. Breakfast was excellent

Review 9:Noise factor- rooms are not well sound proofed. Had to phone reception at 3am when noise from a neighbours room became intolerable. Poor nights rest had by the whole family.

Review 10:Staff are always very friendly and welcoming.

Review 11:The lady at reception was amazing with helping me find places to visit and telling me things that were available to see, she made me feel so welcome and comfortable, I had an amazing time!!

Review 12:Breakfast was like something out of faulty towers ! I was sat at a table already allocated to a couple getting breakfast then I was moved !When I got to the hot plate main items where missing .when I complained the breakfast manager was verging on rude and unhelpful ?

Review 13:Limited choice on winter dinner menu. Bathroom a little "tired" Welsh weather

Review 14:Very good service with polite friendly staff. Very comfy bed. Good choice at breakfast and well cooked

Review 15:the food was slow and the order was wrong every time the pillows where thin and really tired the mattress was lumpy one room was boiling hot the other (next door) freezing cold staff seemed not to know what was on the menu and then when we asked for food it wasnt available

Review 16:the location was just about the best bit as we were there for the race circuit but even that wasnt great

Review 17:We had to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up many, many steps to get to the entrance. The family room we booked smelt of urine. The breakfast on our second day was very poor

Review 18:We were greeted by friendly staff . The reception area was lovely .

Review 19:fire doors wedged open (see photo) this was highlighted to a manager who explained it was due to the cleaning staff and he would try and prevent this but there was no change three days later.

Review 20:Staff friendly and helpful

Review 21:My daughter and I had a birthday present for a spa treatment which was fabulous, with a free main course lunch as well. We decided to stay in the hotel and had a lovely twin-bedded room and a fabulous breakfast.

Review 22:Bathroom shower head had mould on it. Mattress way too soft if you laid near the edge you would almost fall out. Room really hot and very tiny. Room not freshly dusted. Tea cup had not been washed on outside as it had tea dried on it. Very slow meal service.

Review 23:Excellent experience. If we will be staying longer in the future, it would be nice to have some space for playtime for little tots

Review 24:Friendly and helpful staff Very good size accommodation, furniture, cleanliness Excellent breakfast, good choices for cold and cooked Really excellent value for money

Review 25:We were sitting in the bar early afternoon then decided to have a bar meal before watching the rugby on the TV with a few other people who was there early, then came a crowd of people who were attending a wedding and took control of the whole bar in which they were standing in front of everyone to watch TV thus making it impossible for us to watch so we ended up having to go to our room to watch the game.

Review 26:Stayed in room 301 which is right next to the lift we were kept awake most of our second night due to there being a wedding & quite noisey wedding guests up and down in the lift untill gone 3am in the morning

Review 27:Lovely clean & comfortable hotel in a good location

Review 28:Our bathroom was rather tired and not as clean as it could have been. And as for the dust under the bed . . . ! The wedding parties/receptions there on each of the three nights meant that there was no bar or 'lounge' area available for the quiet use of non-wedding guests.

Review 29:Very pleasant and friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts. The roof terrace. A good view from the room across Llanelli to the sea. Tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 30:The breakfast could have been hotter, but nevertheless it was nice.

Review 31:Everything, the staff were one of the nicest and most helpful I have come across and I have stayed in several hotels 4 & 5 star.

Review 32:It was unsuitable for families-very noisy at night and early morningsdue to a rowdy all male party in a communicating room with one of ours-no soundproofing due to communicating door.also my elderly mother-forwhom this trip was a 90th birthday present was awoken by loud shoutingand a drunken person trying to get into her room-she was very distressedand did not inform us until after we had left.we did inform receptionabout the noisy neighbours but nothing was done-the manager was busydealing with a queue of complaining customers!

Review 33:The staff were charming ,the restaurant excellent

Review 34:Cant say anything that I didn't like but I would of liked a mini bar in our room but not a problem

Review 35:Very grand and the staff were warm and cheerful we felt very relaxed

Review 36:Room 110 very hot not sure why as no heating on in the room. Wedding took place on the Friday which meant that dinner was not allowed until 8pm for hotel guests.

Review 37:Ideal location for the tourist venues in the area plus ample parking. Breakfast choice was excellent and plentiful. Dinner in the restaurant very good with an option of food in the bar for cheaper option.

Review 38:The first room I had, the window was hanging by one hinge. The other was broken. I called the reception, and the lady said it was normal, until I opened the window to show her. They changed a room for me, but the replacement room they gave also had the same problem with the window. While the window is supposed to open two way, fully and just a gap on the top, but it was evident that there was a broken hinge. I gave up asking for a replacement, didn't want to go through all that again.

Review 39:The breakfast is excellent, with good selection of hot and cold dishes.

Review 40:Room 317. Walls thin on both sides and noise of next door TVs was really disturbing. At last they eventually turned them down at 10.45 pm after banging on the walls!

Review 41:Friendly staff, comfortable bed and room OK apart from adjacent noise.

Review 42:There is nothing bad I can say about this hotel, although if you are after a busy night life then this isn't the location for you.

Review 43:Lovely hotel, great food and the staff can't do enough for you. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away. Found a couple of local pubs near the hotel also with very friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Everything felt welcome minute entered until finally left really friendly, polite and professional staff. Food in Bar delicious, breakfast spoilt for choice and comfortable rooms, but warm but fans were provided

Review 46:The wifi in the room was terrible . Very difficult to get connected , and when you did it would go down straight away .

Review 47:The meals were very good , including the bar meals The homemade chips in particular were some of the best I have ever tasted .

Review 48:bad Insulation of bedrooms. No carpet in corridor by some bedrooms so noisy Slow service in the restaurant for the evening meal

Review 49:Staff friendly Comfortable bed. Good Breakfast Efficient check in

Review 50:Room, friendliness and helpfulness of all staff, excellent breakfast with stunning views, didn't have evening meal so couldn't comment but will certainly try next time.

Review 51:Not happy about having to pay extra for vegetables. Should have been included in set price of 26.00 for three courses! A small annoyance yet irritating!

Review 52:The comfort and plushness of the hotel. Decorated to an extremely high standard. Staff were professional yet, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent size to bedroom, plenty of room.

Review 53:Only thing that let it down was the room. No fridge In a family room!!, no, sockets by bed and very few altogether. Lots broken and worn out in room. Like a cheap b&b. Room 101 needs totally refurbishing. Especially for £140 a night!

Review 54:Staff and hotel areas were great. Great breakfast and bar. We stayed for a wedding at the hotel witch was beautiful and a credit to the hotel.

Review 55:Only that the lock on our bedroom door kept breaking down and we had to go several times to get help. But it was minor. However, an elderly person would have found it difficult as we were on the 2nd floor at the end of the corridor.

Review 56:Lovely country hotel - good location for us as close to Golf club and friends

Review 57:Weddings on all three nights we were there rather take over hotel. When dining room set up for conference meeting, alternative breakfast area too much like being on a giant conference

Review 58:Friendly helpful staff. Spacious pleasant comfortable rooms.

Review 59:The bed was comfy to sit on, but when you tried to sleep you felt as if you where going to roll out of it.

Review 60:The breakfast was lovely and the service was spot on

Review 61:There was a wedding and a fuction which meant we were restricted from roof top bar during the day and night.

Review 62:The location and the view. Dinner was awesome and the staff very helpful.

Review 63:The hotel had hosted a wedding on the same night which resulted in drunken guests shouting down my corridor, slamming doors, mimicking ape sounds until 4am Sunday morning. The walls of the rooms are paper thin. I got absolutely no sleep that night and had a 145 mile bike ride the next day. I complained to the night manager and he said "What was I supposed to do about it?" He really couldn't have cared less. The hotel carried on serving drinks to these guests after 3am. They made so much money that night. I didn't want to pay anything for the room, so they agreed to charge me 60 quid. When I checked my account today, they still charged be 85 quid. Don't stay there

Review 64:The room was nice, clean, and what you would expect for a 100 quid a night

Review 65:The bar meals in the evening were very poor on the 2 occasions we ate there. We reported this to the management and were refunded the cost of the meals, but unless they do something about it, I would advise against eating in the bar. As a result, we decided to give their main restaurant a miss assuming it was cooked in the same kitchen. Instead we found another bar further up the B4309 called the Waun Wyllt. It was excellent!!

Review 66:Breakfast was good and relaxing in the conservatory.

Review 67:The two rooms we used were not very clean. You could write your name in the dust and the tv remote was filthy - a quick wipe with an antibacterial cloth would be a good idea. There were blood stains on one of the quilt covers.

Review 68:Convenient location, nice décor and comfy bed. Helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious and we over indulged! Would come again.

Review 69:Room was close to lift; was noisy at times. Sound proofing to adjacent room was poor. Need more choice for children on menu.

Review 70:Lovely sea views from room. Two adjoining rooms ; well decorated. Beds comfortable. Cleanliness was ok; we had issues with bathroom/plumbing. Staff pleasant.

Review 71:I ordered poached eggs on toast for breakfast on the first morning. The eggs were hard, not soft and runny as they should be, and the toast was soggy! On the second evening I had a bar meal, and the salad was served in a small colander which made it difficult to eat.

Review 72:I had the salmon dish in the restaurant on the first evening and this was excellent.

Review 73:Everything - your staff are excellent - front reception extremely helpful and friendly, bar staff very friendly and food was great. My wife and daughter are coeliac, so require gluten free food - the staff were very accommodating.

Review 74:Bathroom needed upgrading. Hate showers with no flexible hose. Not enough accesible light swiches at the sides of the huge double bed.

Review 75:A fine view of the Gower from my room. A fairly good cooked breakfast. Good service. Pleasant public areas. Ample parking.

Review 76:Neighbours were very noisy once they had returned to their rooms at around 2am. There were no drinks provided for the children in our family room just tea or coffee.

Review 77:Family Room was very spacious and the Breakfast had a good choice.

Review 78:Shame no twin bedded rooms in upper rooms overlooking the sea. Nice room on side with view of park

Review 79:Good staff, lovely tasty food, pleasant rooms, and sitting areas. Great

Review 80:The worst food I have ever had and have traveled all over the world in my working life. First meal sent back as inedible. Second evening food warm and greasy. Third evening Food cold in the center and i was up all night vomiting = disaster.

Review 81:Good staff

Review 82:Nothing, just didn't have enough time to spend

Review 83:The Staff couldn't have done more ! One of the waitresses was kind enough to get some watermelon for my 4 year old when there was none at breakfast , very impressed !

Review 84:Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was very well presented & tasted as good as it looked! Variety of breakfasts available was great! The family room we stayed in was fab, my boys loved the xbox in their room!

Review 85:The bed was very soft ans uncomfortable and the burguer at the bar wasn't that great. The room needs to upgrade furniture but overall is ok.

Review 86:Friendly staff and top bar is very nice.

Review 87:Nothing.

Review 88:The staff were so friendly and just did everything to ensure we had a really comfortable stay. The breakfast was outstanding. The best I have ever had and again, staff were so attentive. The rooms comfortable and clean. Choice of a restaurant and lounge bar with food of a very good quality and price.

Review 89:The hotel had a comfortable appearance. Staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. The room was spacious as we had booked a triple. It was clean, lovely linen and the beds were very comfortable. The food was of an exceptionally high quality, plenty of it and locally sourced.

Review 90:Could hear next room going to the toilet and group of women in room opposite talking all night. Had to complain at 2.15am as had work Monday! Then the hotel failed to give me my alarm call........Should have gone to Premier Inn!

Review 91:Bed was so comfortable (to lay awake in all night!) and food was very good (£4 charge for room service - bit steep)

Review 92:The rooms are far too hot and the walls are paper thin so you can literally hear everything going on in the room next to you. We was also going to travel with a pet but pets weren't allowed.

Review 93:steps from lower car park, not well signed to show higher car park at same level as reception - parked in lower, walked up 50+ steps to find a higher car park with spaces! annoying

Review 94:very large comfy bed, excellent bar food, great buffet breakfast

Review 95:Room 124 is above reception so therefore you will hear all that goes on especially when a function is taking place. We were kept awake until the early hours.

Review 96:Nice big room and comfy bed and the staff were lovely

Review 97:Breakfast on the Saturday morning was a little disappointing. There seemed to be only one member of staff serving and we had to wait ages to get a second cup of coffee/tea. The noise on Saturday evening was also annoying (due a Valentine's event) and found it very difficult to find a car parking space in the evening after a long and tiring day at a funeral event. We eventually managed to find a car parking space in one of the side streets.

Review 98:We stayed two nights. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable which ensured a good night's sleep. The free wifi was a good bonus and had no trouble accessing/using it. Dinner was lovely and the staff who served us were really friendly.

Review 99:Buffet style breakfast. Woiuld have preferred to have been served my breakfast, fresh from order not sitting on the hotplate....

Review 100:the friendlyness of the staff

Review 101:Banging doors late at night and early in the morning - could make use of soft closers on bedroom doors and reminding people to be quieter.

Review 102:Everything!! Comfortable. Personal touch offered by staff. Breakfast was plentiful. Room service was efficient. Toiletries were lovely.

Review 103:The staff were friendly and very helpfull. The room was to a high standard and the food was good. Overall an excellent stay and will definately return

Review 104:Could do with putting up navigation signs around the town to assist with finding Hotel.

Review 105:Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room fantastic. Atmosphere of Hotel was warm and welcoming. It had an edge that other Hotels don't provide! Loved it .

Review 106:as we are smokers it was not much fun standing in the pouring rain. par for the course these days i suppose but a covered area would have been nice

Review 107:great atmosphere, very welcoming staff, also very nicely decorated interior, easy parking

Review 108:Nothing really. Pointless just to nit pick - I have stayed at inferior 5 *

Review 109:Everything in the hotel appeared new, especially our bedroom and the bathroom fittings and tiling which were first class. We were at the end of a corridor , so it was really quiet. I think the hotel can be very busy /noisy perhaps on Fridays/Sats with weddings and functions. But there is good space downstairs in the bars , lounges etc.Same problem in all good hotels these days.

Review 110:lovely big bed, we were there on our honeymoon, we are from New Zealand but have family in and around Llanelli, so decided to get married here in front of all of them.

Review 111:The first room we were allocated had no view. Noisy wedding on the Saturday evening (though we were warned about this when we changed room). There could have been more table service at breakfast.

Review 112:Good location, easy parking, good views, room well appointed, helpful staff

Review 113:Beds are impossibly soft to the point where it's difficult to sleep on them. Price for the hotel is too high for middle of Wales and away from any major points - presumably as hotel is popular wedding venue. The hotel really good do with a pool for these prices.

Review 114:Nice rooms. Restaurant on premises serving nice food, though again overpriced taking into account the location in middle of Wales, when prices are more like in London. Nicely laid out so the wedding party (there's always a wedding party) was no interruption to us. Good breakfast. Great staff and service.

Review 115:Noisy wedding guests Double room too small, snug rather than spacious No air-con in bedrooms

Review 116:Excellent service Pleasant staff Good standard of cuisine Handy location Comfortable rooms Nice dining area

Review 117:The hotel is very well run with friendly, helpful staff. The location is ideal for visiting the coastline and the Botanic Garden. Breakfast was varied and well cooked. We will recommend the hotel to those wanting a comfortable break in the fresh air of the Gower coast.

Review 118:the rooftop which was a sunspot and very pleasant to sit out had no bar which was very disappointing for all that we spoke to.

Review 119:the helpyourself cooked breafeast was very good. tea and coffee facilities in the room . very clean hotel.

Review 120:Bathrooms seriously need updating! Room is clean & basic but quality doesn't meet the price of the room.

Review 121:Reception area, bar & restaurants are pleasant.

Review 122:The only negative point was that our room was a family room and since we had a door serving as a division between rooms, we could hear many noise from the other room that was connected to ours.

Review 123:The hotel is very nice, the room is big, very comfortable and the decoration is based around a vintage theme which gives the hotel a high standard level and a positive experience. The food in the restaurant was the best meal we had in the UK. It is definitely worth to have lunch or dinner when staying at the hotel. Breakfast was also very good with many different options. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 124:Cold room Smelly bathroom Shower average Shower tray blockage

Review 125:Excellent wifi Good location Nice breakfast Good staff Good tea/coffee facility

Review 126:The picture on the website is only a tiny part of the building. The actual hotel is based in a dated new building. Rooms are ok but not worth 4 stars, hallways and bathroom are dated. Reception staff not very helpful. We were planning to visit Beacons national park (closest national park to the hotel) and asked whether there was a place where we could get a map of the park like a visitors centre. The girl at reception replied "I don't know" and then ignored my question. She did not look it up on the internet or ask other receptionists for advice. This is not the service we expect from a 4-star hotel. Breakfast was ok, but English breakfast greasy. This hotel has the standards of a very average 3 star hotel

Review 127:The beds were large and comfortable.

Review 128:Couldn't get to the bar for a wedding party so we were directed to the rooftop lounge for dinner

Review 129:The staff were friendly and helpful and there is always enough of them

Review 130:Wifi was a little unpredictable in the room but loads of plugs to charge up kids devices for rest of our road trip certainly made up for it.

Review 131:We loved the room and facilities. Xbox and games for our. 5&7 yr old boys was added bonus. Their additional room with twin beds was great. Lovely sized beds with nice big room for us was lovely surprise. Hotel car and restaurant quiet and comfortable. Staff very helpful and amenable. Had lovely comfortable stay . Great breakfast in morning.

Review 132:Worried a little as our room overlooked main entrance and there were cars and coaches in and out but actually we were not bothered by any noise outside. Our room was between a lift and the spa corridor and the door that led onto that corridor banged very loudly so maybe the door could have a soft close device put on to stop that. These are minor irritations and overall did not spoil our stay.

Review 133:Everything! The beds were so comfortable we fell asleep instantly. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious - we all ate far too much it all looked so good. The spa treatments were pure bliss. We are going back in 2 weeks for a longer stay.

Review 134:Quite busy with weddings Parking busy

Review 135:the lovely luxurious bed. Cleanliness. a lot of weddings at weekends, however where we were situated was very quiet. great breakfasts friendly staff

Review 136:Being picky... Weddings got a little in the way. Soft boiled egg was nearly hard. English breakfast a little greasy.

Review 137:Staff were very helpful. No password fast wifi! Great choice for breakfast. Lots of fruit and cereals.

The Fine Print

No pets are allowed except for guide dogs. Please note that the hotel is particularly busy and lively on weekends due to weddings.
