Beachfield Hotel

Beachfield Hotel descritpion
Right on the seafront, with breathtaking panoramic views of Mount’s Bay, from The Lizard to Newlyn Harbour, this Victorian building offers free Wi-Fi and charming accommodations.
Standing on grounds that were once fields and dunes where fishermen dried their nets, the Beachfield Hotel is only a 6-minute walk from the historic town center of Penzance, with its quaint backstreets, smugglers’ pubs and maritime museums.
All of the rooms have private bathrooms, TVs, hairdryers, telephones and tea/coffee making facilities.
The hotel is fully licensed and the bar overlooks Mount’s Bay. The restaurant also boasts magnificent sea views and offers a wide-ranging menu, featuring locally sourced produce and, of course, fish, fresh from the sea.

Reviews for Beachfield Hotel
Review 1:I was disappointed with the attitude of the staff, in particular at breakfast. The waitress did not listen or have any interest in us. We had to find our own side plates, butter and marmalade. Each morning we had to ask for a second slice of toast! The meals appeared to have been cooked OK, but we suffered later in the day! I mentioned this when checking out, but the staff were not interested. It was a shame as the hotel was nice, but the staff let it down.
Review 2:The location couldn't have been better. It was in the middle of the sea front. We had a first floor room on the corner, with large bay windows looking out both east and south. If the weather had been good, we would have had wonderful views. The room was light, clean, warm and nicely furnished. The water was only just warm on the third morning.
Review 3:Motorcycles on the road late at night would be the only negative. With the windows closed this would not have been an issue but one would have to give up the sea breezes.
Review 4:Ocean view and walking proximity to other attractions was very good. Breakfast was also very good.
Review 5:Limited Parking NO lift Old divan beds dipped in middle - Rm 1 Windows rusted & would not shut in bathroom Basic B&B furniture in bedroom
Review 6:Friendly welcome from Sarah Sue & Emily Excellent meals by chefs Alan & Tom Public rooms comfortable
Review 7:Just needed a box of tissues in the room, more milk, etc but more importantly I should have told you that I am at the moment having difficulty in walking and therefore had to move from second floor to first and the room was very small. No lift of course which can be difficult with luggage.
Review 8:Location, breakfast and staff, although very noisy seagulls..
Review 9:No view from room
Review 10:This is a very clean hotel, with wonderful food in a restaurant with views of the promenade and the sea. It is convenient to a bus stop which can take you down to Lands End etc. It is nicely kept outside and the Reception staff were very pleasant and most helpful.
Review 11:Room 14 very noisy due to ill fitting windows thankfully the main promenade road outside is quiet at night
Review 12:Rooms nicely decorated. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Great selection of cooked options for breakfast
Review 13:There was nothing we did not like! Great hotel, very well managed, clean, great location!
Review 14:The staff was very pleasant and helpful, especially Vivian who is from New York. We asked for lots of advice since we'd never been in Penzance before and they told us about the open top bus ride down to Land's End which was wonderful. Breakfast was exceptionally good!
Review 15:The only attractive feature of our room was the view of Penzance Bay. The furnishings were basic, and the bathroom was poorly lit, with a noisy fan. Limited, inconvenient, on-site parking is available. We had to park on the street for our second night.
Review 16:Breakfast and dinner were both good.
Review 17:No Lift - that was not mentioned. We managed the two flights of steep stairs, thankfully we only had two small carry ons. Our daughter had a very small single room at the back of the hotel which I thought was rather pricey for what it was.
Review 18:Beautiful spacious room with a lovely ensuite. Pleasant breakfast room and breakfast.
Review 19:Bedrooms not to the same standard as restaurant area. Mattress on the thin side, though comfortable enough.
Review 20:Hotel refurb added a more modern feel to a traditional building. Great view over the bay. Good breakfast menu. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 21:We were warmly welcomed by everyone in the hotel, and the room was simply spectacular; on the second floor with two bay windows that both overlooked the sea. Breakfasts were spectacular, but the real surprise was the delicious supper that featured local Cornish fish and plants.
Review 22:Coffee with breakfast! Apart from one morning when I was given a single stainless steel coffee pot. That coffee was excellent as was coffee with evening meal.
Review 23:Breakfasts and views, easy access to walks
Review 24:Not child friendly,no children's menus and could not accommodate-our three year old had to eat a cheese sandwich for dinner and had to take him elsewhere on our second nights stay. Hotel were going to charge for his breakfasts-he eats one piece of toast! Charged £20 for z-bed!! Hotel unable to cater for large numbers at dinner. Not a pleasant experience, just made us feel very awkward.
Review 25:Food was okay. Clean hotel, relaxing areas very nice.
Review 26:Wi-Fi did not work throughout hotel and as this was know issue it would have been nice to have it at the time of booking.
Review 27:Pleasant non chain hotel with good restaurant and in good location.
Review 28:There was not a lift available for senior travelers challenged with stairs. Walking distance to town a challenge.
Review 29:Staff was really very considerate and accommodating ... quite ready to help and very friendly. Lovely hotel with wonderful food and comfortable accommodations. Convenient to bus service.
Review 30:The staff were friendly and accommodating...The rooms were lovely...each with a Bay View... and most comfortable...and the restaurant on property was excellent..really quality food and presentation.I loved it all and recommend it highly...
Review 31:At breakfast paper napkins were provided but of small size and thin so that it was difficult to retain them on one's lap.
Review 32:Bedroom was spacious with a view of St Michael's Mount. Two arm chairs were provided - all too many hotels illogically only provide one in a double room obliging one of a couple to sit or lie on the bed. The beds were exceptionally comfortable although we would have preferred a double in lieu of twin beds. Good breakfast (only meal taken).
Review 33:One room was cold and attempts to increase heat were ineffective. Found substantial discount was missed by not booking through the hotel website.
Review 34:Rooms were nicely appointed. Staff were helpful.
Review 35:We had booked a beach view room and on arrival discovered that there was a construction site set up to make repairs to the sea wall after the storms earlier this year. We probably would have opted for a back room if we had been made aware of this.
Review 36:The Hotel is located close the towns amenities. The Staff are friendly and very helpful. The Hotel also has a great restaurant.
Review 37:The staff were helpful and attentive without being pushy in any way. The quality of the evening meal was very good , likewise an excellent cooked breakfast. This is a convenient location if you are using the train service from Penzance.
Review 38:No wifi in room. Genuine single room, with single bed. No car parking, although on-street wasn't too hard.
Review 39:Clean, comfortable, uncluttered room, rather tasteful lighting in room. Very professional staff. Decent breakfast.
Review 40:Room noisy (right next to road) and too hot (mild late summer weather and heating off so shouldn't have been an issue).
Review 41:Amazing food, friendly and helpful staff, great view out to sea.
Review 42:The young lady who appeared to be running the show, checked us in, proposed restaurants in town, took our booking for dinner, served drinks in the bar was everything you want in a host. Friendly, helpful, knowledgable and efficient. Unfortunately I cannot recall her name, but it is her 2nd season at the hotel and she plans to go to University after the Summer. If she studies hospitality she'll do well and I'd like to stay at the hotel(s) she manages in the future. The hotel proved to be a convenient stopover for our travels to the Isles of Scilly and our (extremely well behaved) young puppy was made most welcome.
Review 43:The place was wonderful and should have no problem in selling itself, so felt a little let down when we tried cancelling due to hospitalisation but had to pay full price despite several weeks notice. However this was within the booking policy. We did not let that detract from a wonderful visit that all our group said we would stop there again!
Review 44:Leaving luggage in the morning whilst we went to the Scilly Isles. Extra touches in the bedroom, set the high bench mark. All staff very personable just missed out on being perfect within the dining room.
Review 45:We paid a premium for a sea view room and were given room 7. it is at the top of some stairs with paper thin walls, and the road and pavement is right out side the window (open as there is no Air-con). Saturday night we had drunks outside the window shouting, and the road sweeper practically parks out side revving its engine first thing in the morning. the bed also has a very cheap springy mattress, and the damp towels from the previous guest was left in the room when we checked in (the staff were very apologetic).
Review 46:the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and nice
Review 47:Having to look for a car parking space in a nearby road each evening. The absence of a lift.
Review 48:A comfortable room with a sea view. A hot freshly cooked breakfast. A very helpful young man at Reception who attempted to help two silver surfers with a computer problem!
Review 49:Not being able to have dinner on the Friday, as our train left at 2PM.
Review 50:The food was outstanding, one of the best breakfasts I have ever had and the evening Meals were so good I wanted seconds every day. The rooms were clean and tidy and no request seemed too difficult for the staff.
Review 51:The house keepers / chambermaids were talking very loudly, laughing and giggling at 7.45am outside my door. It was a Sunday morning and that really was not acceptable.
Review 52:Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful updated room and toilet. Super clean and bright. Delicious hot breakfast - I asked for omelette with spinach and mushrooms and green tea.Good internet speed. Located on promenade and room had seaview. Loved it.
Review 53:Seafront location. Easy to find. Public areas for relaxing. Wifi avaialble in rooms, althhough not advertised. good breakfast. Friendly staff/service.
