Reviews for Yellow Mountain Hotel

Review 1:Upgraded to the sea view room. That handily had a shower that you had to hold over yourself. No wall bracket. Kettle had a cable so short you could only use it on the floor. All little things but shows that the staff have little concept of what it's like to actually use the rooms.

Review 2:Good location. Cheap price.

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:Buffett full English breakfast. Other options available. They didn't use cheap products either. King size bed with sea view, large TV with freeview. Staff very friendly & polite, even came knocking to ask if you needed more tea/coffee.

Review 5:We had to turn the radiator off during the night as it was unbearably hot in our room.

Review 6:The hotel staff were very friendly on arrival and during our short stay. The family room was well equipped and spacious. The breakfast was plentiful and tasted great!

Review 7:Nothing to not like

Review 8:Had a great 2 nights stay here, lovely clean, comfortable room with an amazing sea view, manager was very friendly and jolly, he couldn't do enough for us, close enough to town to walk with good parking, lovely big breakfast, we had ours in our room looking out over the sea view will be coming back.

Review 9:We've stayed here about 5-6 times over the past 2 yrs Stayed in a few b&bs in Skegness & this is by far the best, very clean & friendly staff, far enough away from the noisy town area but only a 5 min walk if that's your thing Breakfast is top notch too

Review 10:Young teenagers kept us awake until 4am in the room next door, banging and running up and down the corridor and swearing etc. Was disgusting. Told the owner in the morning and just said sorry!

Review 11:The breakfast

Review 12:Bathroom was small not a lot of room at all. Hot water in the shower for about 5 minutes then went freezing cold and had to go up to another room to finish washing my hair.

Review 13:Good location. Staff were nice but hard to understand (strong accents, was difficult to have a conversation). Drinks in the bar were cheap and breakfast was nice

Review 14:There was thick dust on the bed frame . Chips all over the bath . Stains on the carpet. The curtains did not meet in the middle so people could see In and we could see out . The flush on the toilet did not work very well you had to hold your finger on it .

Review 15:Nothing .

Review 16:Leaving

Review 17:Lovely hotel in a great location close to Skegness centre yet far enough away. Breakfast was great, had a lovely nights sleep in a comfy bed. Ample free parking also Would stop again!

Review 18:The breakfast and the room was small without anywhere to dry hair with a mirror. There were cobwebs and a spider plus décor and carpets need attention. No double glazing so condensation ran down the windows. The room was poorly heated.

Review 19:The staff were helpful.

Review 20:Shower was set high on a ledge and I'm only 5 foot 1 so a bit of a drop getting out

Review 21:The room was cosy not a lot of room to move around by the bed but we weren't spending a lot of time in the room so this did not bother us

Review 22:There was an extraction fan in the room below us that made a terrible noise and vibrated the floor which keep us awake because the occupants' kept leaving it on

Review 23:Everything apart from the extraction fan in the room below us.

Review 24:Room a little dated, but was still very comfortable

Review 25:The owner was most friendly & helpful & breakfast was lovely. Had a very good nights sleep. Will definitely go back

Review 26:The "King" room was vasicalt a family room eith too much furiture. We had to put the kettle on the floor due to the location of the socket.

Review 27:The location was very good.

Review 28:Would have liked a proper shower but managed with the bath adaptor fine so no real problem.

Review 29:Lovely seafront room, plenty of space, light and airy for a very reasonable price.

Review 30:We loved everything about our stay at Yellow Mountain Hotel Skegness. Ideal location. Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Excellent room, Excellent Breakfast, will definitely return. Carol & John.

Review 31:after reading previous reviews i understood the room would be small but it was tiny a double bed fills the room and the shower can fit only one person in really at a squeeze for broad people, the windows were dirty from the outside unfortunately not letting you look outside although it wasn't great through back window. there was a stain on the curtains which could have only been human ... only small but still not nice :/

Review 32:literally at side of beach, good parking if you can get a place, really nice breakfast, fruit drinks etc... laid out really nice, the reception always smelt great, great friendly staff. easy access in and out

Review 33:The room could be made bigger and better if the big draws/furniture units were taken away and made space. not a bad point as this did not take away from the room but a suggestion to make the best of the family room.

Review 34:This was a good quiet location away from the hussle of Skegness but still a short walk to the clock tower. Owner was very pleasant. Family room very comfortable with all you need. Breakfast was very nice and well worth the money, helped yourself and nice quality and selection. The young lady who helped service/breakfast was very pleasant and happy to help.

Review 35:Did not like the sink being in the bedroom. Hair dryer not working. No hot water on Saturday night at seven as we getting ready to go out .

Review 36:Close to the town and good parking

Review 37:The Hotel was exactly as we expected. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The Manager was great nothing was too much trouble for him. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 38:First room allocated was horrible. Exposed pipe work around w.c. Grotty shower tray. Overall dirty and grotty. 2nd room was better but not a good standard

Review 39:Bed linen and towels were excellent quality. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 40:Room was clean but rather cramped. Window needed a good clean on the outside. Roo mms was comfortable but the ensuite was loo + shower, but sink was in bedroom. Not a problem except it was crammed into small corner. A little more thought on room design would make it a great room. It was fine for one night.

Review 41:Location is good. Just a short walk to town centre. Free parking outside hotel. Nice breakfast. Staff friendly. Free WiFi fab. Clean.

Review 42:WE loved everything in that hotel. yes, i agree, the rooms are quite small but very cozy and clean. Atmosphere and breakfast was really nice and the most beautiful thing was that the sea is just few minutes from hotel and you can hear sea sounds. Lovely!

Review 43:There was no hot water coming through the en suite taps/shower. The breakfast was poor. There weren't enough tables and chairs to accommodate all the guests which meant we had to wait outside for a table to become free until we could have our breakfast. The rooms were also incredibly cold. We attempted to put the radiators on for some heat but like the shower, no warmth was projected.

Review 44:The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean.

Review 45:large bedroom plenty storage space bathroom good size and decent size shower breakfast brilliant plenty choices hotel in quite location on level prom

Review 46:Nothing negative to say at all ~ all good!

Review 47:Friendly staff, marvellous breakfast, such comfy beds & free upgrade greatly appreciated and well received too!

Review 48:the bed was hard and they only did scrambled eggs at breakfast poached or fried would be better

Review 49:it was a nice view and quite location was a shame you had to walk past homeless on way out

Review 50:It was more then I expected it was friendly and welcoming and I would stay there again the family injoy there stay not far walk from beach or amusements :-)

Review 51:Overall cleanliness was a little on the down side, the room was mostly nice but the shower especially looked like it had never been cleaned around the outside and was quite filthy, inside the tub was alright, though. Parking was luck of the draw, we got a space but it isn't guaranteed, though there is a car park just down the road, though depending on your stay length could become expensive.

Review 52:Friendly staff, really nice room, TV was a lot bigger than expected which is always nice, the shower was excellent although was a little cold due to the amount of water it pumped out. Breakfast was nice, lots to eat and you could help yourself to whatever you wanted and as much as you liked. Location was nice, 10 minute walk to the main attractions.

Review 53:Carpets a bit scruffy in most public areas. Bar area drab and furniture in bar needs updating should be a fridge in all rooms

Review 54:Friendly nice big rooms this visit has a lift good choice of breakfast foods had a fridge in room

Review 55:We did not like the bathroom it was not very clean and needs updating. There was nowhere to plug the kettle in and we had to carry the kettle to the bedside table to plug it in.

Review 56:The owners were very welcoming and looked after us very well. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 57:Atmospere

Review 58:Noisey people not quite when they come in.sun night after 11 12/13 people came upstairs on first floor they dint go to fhere rooms beside us they stayed on floor whhere we were tring to sleep they went in therr room 4.30 the noise was unbearable no no to ring hotel owner to remove them .alot off dust on chairs and bathroom was mucky window had to get on chair to reach .if you have alergies or ashma not a place to stay .sat our room dint get cleaned.this isant a quite hotel .no parking neithertouch and go if yoh cant get a space

Review 59:Bed was enourmous and amazingly comfortable. Travel cot provided for our 2 year old. Fantastic full range of food and drink at breakfast. All staff pleasant and jovial.

Review 60:Found the room rather small & the foam mattress on bed was uncomfortable also the ensuite was not of a standard size.

Review 61:We had a lovely welcome & staff very friendly.

Review 62:I booked a room for me and my young daughter, the staff were so friendly. The owner even moved his car out of a space so I could park there instead. Very kind. Quiet nights sleep and breakfast was lovely and plentiful, choice of fruit, cereal, yogurt and full English.

Review 63:Grubby, tired decor, supposed to be delux room, not my idea of delux at all, would have expected much better quality for the price.

Review 64:Good breakfast, bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for a long time.

Review 65:room not that clean, rubbish on floor and applecore under bed, behind toilet dust and sandy, bedside cupboard smelt strongly of an ashtray,no sink in bathroom it was it the bedroom,no plug near the tea making tray, dangerous to plug kettle in on floor or by bedside table,Tired décor....paid £95 for one night I excected more..felt more like a back street B&B....no parking, had to pay in council carpark

Review 66:Breakfast was very nice and plenty of it,Double bed was very comfortable,Managment seemed helpfull

Review 67:Decor some of room had paper ripped and coming of wall.water to drink disgusting couldn't have a cup of tea,bit disappointed so had to drink tea when out.

Review 68:Welcome and booking in was fantastic .lift Was tiny and a bit cramped but good when you tired instead of climbing the stairs.breakfast delicious and if you were hungry after then you only had yourself to blame.couple running it very helpful and efficient.

Review 69:Cleaning needs to be looked at there was pubic hair and dried urine on the toilet and dusty. Plus the room needs a bit of tlc fill in holes and touch up with paint keeps the rooms looking good.

Review 70:The location was great nice and quiet

Review 71:Run by the nicest man in the universe. Room very small but extremely clean and quiet. Good wifi. Main impression was how nice it is to see genuine customer service.

Review 72:Very cheerful , helpful owner who moved his car to allow us to park directly outside. Great buffet style breakfast including non greasy hot full english. Large room.

Review 73:breakfast is buffet serve yourself some items cold, but no atmosphere at all in breakfast room like sitting in a waiting room for a train that is late

Review 74:location and car parking free

Review 75:Fan in bathroom needed cleaning. Need to include a jug of water at breakfast.

Review 76:Friendly welcome from all staff. Luxury room, very good breakfast and would stay again.

Review 77:I sent an email requesting a sea view and a twin room for the two teenage boys got no response, and the guy on the desk on arrival was unaware of my request, so the boys had to wait while a new room was prepared. The room I stayed in( no 2) Was so crammed and we didn't like it at all, this was very disappointing. Our windows were so dirty in room 2 like they had never been cleaned. The chinese man who checked us in had very poor English.

Review 78:The breakfast was perfect. The family room, number 21 was very spacious, and the same for no 10, we were very happy with these 2 rooms.

Review 79:room 22 top floor. very surprised at the size. two double beds, big bathroom with bath and separate shower. breakfast was fruit, yoghurt, cereal or full English where you helped yourself to as much as you wanted.

Review 80:Rooms are a little tired and need updating / Renovating.Parking can be an issue in season.

Review 81:Location was excellent . Local but not central. Happy smiling staff. Helpful and accommodating..Good base for a short stay.

Review 82:Deluxe bedroom wasn't deluxe. Stained ceilings, barely being able to get into room for wardrobe and bed in way of door, had to wait while partner entered and moved round before I could get in, very small, no floor space really, wasn't deluxe

Review 83:Clean and food good

Review 84:Rooms a bit old fashioned,no drapes at window for privacy very overlooked, paint peeling off bath, bath stained n scum on the shower and taps,no fan or airconditioning

Review 85:Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice, location was good, friendly owners

Review 86:The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've stayed in and the shower had hardly any room to wash in properly.

Review 87:The staff where very friendly and helpful. Very close to beach and attractions. Good selection for breakfast

Review 88:Parking for hotel guests was a worry,we arrived at 5pm and waited for a space, we were happy not to use the car during our stay as everything was within walking distance.

Review 89:we slept well and enjoyed a great breakfast, Located close to very nice beach, our first stay in Skeggy and we will be going again very soon.

Review 90:Everything was lovely, this is my second time in skeg, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it, the hotel is rough opposite the beach front and right next to the city centre so only a few minutes walk down the road. Was lovely room, bed was so comfortable and the staff were brilliant! Breakfast was great too! Recommend to all!

Review 91:staff were very friendly and helpful from arrival to leaving .The breakfast choices were great and we weren't rushed which was great as we took our two teenage granddaughters who are fussy eaters.

Review 92:No complaints at all!

Review 93:We stayed at the Yellow Mountain for a weekend trip. The staff were pleasant, the bed was comfy and the room was in good condition and nicely decorated and the breakfast was lovely. All you need for a short stay. Oh, and free WiFi is a bonus! :)

Review 94:Steepness of the stairs Shower set up antiquated Power points scarce Bar facilities a bit basic

Review 95:We had a lovely comfy room/nice and warm Staff were really nice Breakfast room was good The breakfast food was excellent Everywhere was nice and clean

Review 96:The first thing i did when i got in the room was to clean the taps they were really built up with soap scum. the shower curtains are stained orange round the bottom with body fat.also they dont fit round the bath. The main problem was trying to get into the hotel late at night we were given a key pad code.15 attempts later we had to knock till the owner came down even he couldnt open it on the 1st attempt. not good service ,whats wrong with keys?

Review 97:beds were comfty ,staff freindly.

Review 98:Booking system didn't indicate the smallness of the room, lack of ventilation, but fortunately we were so tired that we slept well anyway

Review 99:Staff was helpful, location is quiet and good, and the breakfast was well appointed.

Review 100:The bar was a little limited but understandable.

Review 101:The staff were very friendly and greeted us everyone we entered of left the hotel. Really lovely little family run hotel would definitely recommend

Review 102:The owners didn't speak very good English. The wallpaper of one room was hanging off. The pool wasn't open. Single room so small it had no wardrobe to hang clothes and no chair to sit on. The shower floor filled up with water within seconds.

Review 103:The location of hotel was good. The breakfast was also good. Hi-Tec locks on doors seemed to work well.

Review 104:Power loss late on the Saturday night, but it was soon sorted by Tom the owner no problem!

Review 105:Everything, was a fab stay! Would definately recommend! Asked if we could swap rooms to the front and although we didn't in the end Tom was more than willing to help.

Review 106:The bathrooms were tiny and the windows were cracked and dirty. There was nothing telling you where the swimming pool was if it actually existed. I think the website overplays the luxury of this hotel.

Review 107:The staff were amazingly friendly. The breakfast was excellent.

Review 108:Limited parking. Another group of guests who were making too much noise at 6am woke us all up. Also, as it was a really warm day a fan wouldn't have gone amiss.

Review 109:Staff really friendly. Room was clean and comfortable.

Review 110:Unfortunately we arrived an hour early and no one was at reception although we rang a few times, so couldn't ask to check in early, and there was a large stain on the wall when we did get in.

Review 111:The staff were very welcoming, the room was quite luxurious and it was great having a large flat screen to relax when we got there!

Review 112:Location was good. Friendly staff. Very clean. Lovely comfy bed. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Lovely soft towels. Nice big bed. We would definitely go again, but longer this time.

Review 113:had another group book same day and were VERY noisy during all there stay especially at 05.30 am (on a sunday)

Review 114:location, price ,staff very helpful, good selection of breakfast , comfy bed

Review 115:Some of the basics in the room were missing. Kettle lead about 4" long, making it difficult to plug in and use. No glasses in the room or bathroom to use when brushing teeath, no blackout curtains. No spare pillows in the wardrobes. Not major faults, just some basics that one would expect.

Review 116:Staff friendly, room adequate. Nice quiet area.

Review 117:The bathroom had a funny smell to it, and looks like hadn't been cleaned properly which was of putting. And the room was lot smaller then the photos looked.

Review 118:The gentleman greeting was lovely and the bed was comfortable to get your head down for the night.

Review 119:Staff was friendly, Room was nice and cool and just the right size for the two of us. Shower was very nice, and the buffet breakfast was most enjoyable. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Review 120:Could of had a fan in the room as the window was small and it was very hot weather.

Review 121:The staff were friendly and helpful, my room was small but that's what I booked! Great breakfast and lot's to do.

Review 122:When we arrived at the hotel, we were well impressed with its location over looking the sea, the manager was very professional and very polite. The breakfast were out of this world and to die for, we are returning next year and would definitely recommend the yellow mountain hotel for people to stay in.

Review 123:en suite was tiny and the sink was in the bedroom bath looked abot mouldy around the edges .. Breakfast in the morning was poor most of the food was cold or over cooked dripping with fat ..Wouldn't of stayed another night.

Review 124:Bedroom was good bed was comfy and had a decent size tv

Review 125:the drain in sink had a smell i put some disinfectant down prob sorted

Review 126:we took car parked it up and did not use it again every thing in walking distance was great could have a drink & not worry about getting back was great value for the money would go again anytime

Review 127:Room 11 was tiny, ensuite was 18"x 72" that's shower and toilet, hand basin was outside the ensuite in the bedroom. Jug and tea making facilities were on the window sill. Have stayed in a lot better for the money I payed. Bit disappointed.

Review 128:location was close to beach and town centre. Breakfast was included in price which made it bearable.

Review 129:The shower head didn't fix onto the wall so was difficult to use also the extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy.

Review 130:The hotel is well positioned in a quiet are of the town, the room was a comfortable with a large window looking towards the sea. The room had a good sized TV + tea and coffee making facilities. The ensuit was adequate.

Review 131:THE SHOWER IS A BIT SMALL AND D TOILET DINT FLUSH WELL BUT ASIDES DAT GREAT HOTEL.

Review 132:I LOVED MOSTLY D BREAKFAST, THE BED AND D LARGE SCREEN...ALSO THE TINY ELEVATOR. HAD JUST LET A 3 STOREY HOTEL WITHOUT LIFT SO DAT WAS NYC.

Review 133:room above us had a squeaky bed and floor boards which kept us awake. we were in room 6.

Review 134:Location was just right, 5 minute walk to the beach and shops. staff very friendly.
