Reviews for Trents
Review 1:Interesting location for the tea tray, in the wardrobe! Please provide coffee on the tray. Side table for both sides of the bed please.
Review 2:The bed, so, so comfortable. Staff, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very good too.
Review 3:The room was very hot however it was possible to turn the radiator down and they even turned the boiler down
Review 4:Staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely
Review 5:If you are travelling with children or have any desire to sleep before 11.45pm, or would rather not have a room with music beating so loudly it's like the bar has come to the hotel room with you I would suggest avoiding Trents. This is not a hotel, it a few rooms above a VERY noisy pub.
Review 6:Noisy kids screaming & running around outside their room Banging from plumbing when taps were activated from neighbouring room No Salmon available for breakfast
Review 7:Great position in town Lovely clean room Great roomy shower
Review 8:The entrance through the bar. The dinner was of moderate quality.
Review 9:The location, the room, the generous breakfast, the ease of parking, the very helpful and pleasant staff.
Review 10:- staff not trained. Hired part time staff trying to handle the job. Not willing to provide proper service. - Bar refused to offer drinks at 10:30pm to in house guests - not enough towels provided in the room. Staff did not know from where to get fresh towels. Have been offered used towel. - staff eating their breakfast while guests are waiting to be served - horrible dirty stair case to the rooms - rooms not up to date. Bad value for money - overall dirt
Review 11:Location is okay with nearby public car park
Review 12:The staircase area leading up to the rooms looks as though it could do with refurbishment and smells unpleasant. Room 5, the sound of constant running water and the noise of the central heating boiler switching on and off throughout the night. The room was stifling hot as the thermostat on the radiator did not work. Reported but unfortunately remained unchanged. What happened to the complimentary mineral water & orange juice as advised on the booking detail?
Review 13:Good size room and bathroom. Breakfast good. Staff very friendly even though they were stretched having to cover bar and reception duties.
Review 14:It was a room above a pub, not a hotel. No proper area for sitting, no separate dining room, and VERY noisy. Also very hot.
Review 15:Location was good, and breakfast was tasty.
Review 16:On the main street so some noise.
Review 17:Locacation was excellent for a visit to the Theatre and a short walk to the station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wide choice at breakfast.
Review 18:The cleaning maid was knocking on my door before check out. I would have expected the staff to enter the room after check out
Review 19:Late check out and full breakfast included. Food excellent. Staff very helpful and flexible.
Review 20:Bin in bathroom hadn't been emptied from previous guest. Next door bathroom adjacent so shower and extractor really noisy both late at night and very early next morning. Wires on heated towel rail in our bathroom exposed and cover broken . We've stayed here before and now these rooms are showing signs of wear.
Review 21:Good position in centre of Chichestet
Review 22:From the moment we arrived, the staff we encountered were welcoming and helpful. Our double room was a good size, tastefully decorated and with a large modern bathroom. From the characterful bar/ dining area overlooking the street, you could watch the world go by.. The delicious English breakfast included in the room price was good quality produce and well cooked. Thank you all at Trents for a lovely stay! Location, location, location!
Review 23:Staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was quiet, even when the pub was open. The room had a comfortable armchair- something that doesn't always happen.
Review 24:The only negative was that it was so hot and the window was difficult to open - but did open eventually to let in some fresh air.
Review 25:Great location, very clean and comfortable room and surprisingly quiet.
Review 26:Not sure this warrants a hotel label. A bar/ restaurant with rooms above is more true. Check in at the bar where we had to wait for the manager to finish serving drinks til he acknowledged us. To be led to the side of bar where a walkway, housing staff bags and belongings, went to some stairs to our accommodation. The laundry room door was permanently open making it look shabby. The bedside lamp in our room was not working and damaged and we asked for a replacement which we didn't receive. The restaurant was ok if you don't mind eating in a pub environment. After dinner we had a wander around the town centre and wished we had chosen one of the restaurants there as there were plenty of others to choose from. Breakfast was ok Room overpriced.
Review 27:Perfect location. A trip to visit our daughter who attends the university in Chichester so we were down the road from her and really close to shops and restaurants. Room was modern, clean and comfortable.
Review 28:VERY LOUD THUMPING BASE MUSIC THROUGH FLOOR IN BEDROOM 1 Making sleep impossible. Was turned down when asked but just as bad second night
Review 29:Staff were very helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable about the area. Food was very good and room clean and comfortable
Review 30:having to go upstairs to room no lift if you had a lot of luggage was a bit of problem but manager was their to help if needed great customer service
Review 31:perfect location for everything
Review 32:Although breakfast was OK, service was slow, however we did have 6 members of our family join us for breakfast itself. Two lovely young staff serving, but there should have been a 'manager' front of house, not cooking. Some of the food was cold when it eventually arrived.
Review 33:Good location, great for shopping and eating out/night life in the evening. Room was well equipped, comfortable bed. Overall good stay.
Review 34:The hotel advertises complimentary water but you had to ask for it at the bar and by the time we got in it was shut. It would have been better if the water was in the fridge in the room, they put orange juice in there - why not water?
Review 35:Breakfast was amazing and such great value you could eat as much as you like and all freshly cooked to order.
Review 36:Trents is right in the middle of Chichester, ideal. The atmosphere is relaxed, room excellent and staff were great, also the breakfast will most certainly be back
Review 37:bedside table & light only on one side -no good if 2 people! Bathroom - containers for shampoo and especially body lotion are fixed too high and on far side of bath-=very awkward to use
Review 38:nice hot water and bath, liked the radio but no clock alarm; location good breakfasts and prompt service
Review 39:I had the impression that this was a boutique hotel (although I think that bit of the website has since changed) - but it's a few rooms over a very noisy pub so was not at all what I expected. Thumping bass was coming through the floor until nearly midnight so there was no chance of an early night! Access to the accommodation is via a narrow steep staircase and the sound-proofing is very poor. Very over-priced for what is on offer.
Review 40:Staff were very friendly and the pub is in the middle of Chichester so is well located.
Review 41:The noise of the loading vans from 6-6.30. Impossible to sleep once they started.
Review 42:Location was excellent as we travelled by train and went to the theatre. Very friendly staff, good food and very comfortable beds.
Review 43:Access to rooms poor,up many steep Stairs and from a passage behind the bar No telephone or alarm clock in room Poor menu selection
Review 44:Staff were pleasant
Review 45:Noisy at back whilst bar was open. Room was overheated and we needed to keep the fan on most of the night - even in November.
Review 46:Great location with friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts.
Review 47:Staircase up to rooms on first floor was very narrow and quite dingy compared to the rest of the premises. Also there was quite an amount of bar/restaurant equipment stored along the short corridor leading to the stairs. I pointed this out to a staff member as it was a serious hazard on a fire escape route.
Review 48:Young staff but exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient.Nice lively atmosphere. Accommodation was really comfortable and the room was quiet. One nice touch- fridge in room with fresh milk for my cup of tea instead of the long-life kind!
Review 49:Breakfast choice was not up to standard, had to ask 3 times for radiators to be put on in room finally on after midnight. Expensive for the room
Review 50:The carpark was just at the rear of Trents
Review 51:Not a great night's sleep, very creaky floors in corridor and stairs. Thin walls, could hear all conversations in corridor. Very noisy plumbing system, with sound of water bubbling and gargling all night long in wall by side of bed.
Review 52:Nice receptionist helped me to find the hotel, as rear entrance was hard to locate.
Review 53:Loud, noisy, rude staff, shabby facilities. So noisy into the early hours of the morning that I couldn't sleep. I had to climb over bags, backpacks and kitchen utensils just to get to my room! Never again.
Review 54:Clean
Review 55:The staff were very friendly and brilliantly helpful. The location was perfect and the place was nicely finished and comfortable. Will definately stay again! :)
Review 56:Unfortunately there was a constant loud gurgling noise from the heating and hot water system in room 5 where we stayed. So very little sleep and we only stayed one night instead of two. The manageress did everything she could to help but there was no alternative room.
Review 57:Good Breakfast and very helpful staff particularly the manageress.
Review 58:small room, was to the side of the house, ventilators in front of the window were noisy running all night. Would recommend to ask for a quiet room or look elsewhere.
Review 59:Very, very friendly staff, excellent! Nice gastro pub downstairs. large bathroom.
Review 60:Due to it's location, we were awoken by noisy lorries unloading their goods etc at 6am and it was very noisy!
Review 61:Great location on the High Street. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Review 62:Everything about Trent's can be recommended but particularly the very friendly and efficient staff,I was treated as a regular returning customer. The whole place is spotlessly clean and a beautiful breakfast too!
Review 63:Central position in city centre. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The tea tray was good and there was milk and fruit juice in a fridge. The en-suite was a good size with bath and overbath shower. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was very friendly and always willing to assist. Would stay there again.
Review 64:Room overlooked the high street so the busses woke us up a bit early but it's a great central location.
Review 65:Lovely room, comfortable bed and great breakfast, friendly staff.
Review 66:Room was hot and no air con. Because of traffic it was no good opening window. Room was small but clean and staff were nice. Would still stay again!!
Review 67:Very good location 2 mins from cathedral and shops.
Review 68:Breakfast was a little disappointing as the courses all came together and some missing items (e.g. butter, yoghurt, knives) had to be requested, although the staff were polite and helpful.
Review 69:The welcome, room & en suite comfort & cleanliness.
Review 70:Many of the rooms face the main road and there can be some early morning noise as shops etc are serviced.
Review 71:The staff were all really welcoming, Trents is well located, and the place is comfortable
Review 72:breakfast - served in pub area also open to public - had to ask what was included - served on cold plates - food was cold when we got it. Security - door to bedrooms was via outside and door wasn't locked.
Review 73:location was excellent - room was lovely, clean, comfy beds, bathroom was also very nice and clean
Review 74:It was very noisy both inside and outside the pub. The breakfast was only just ok and on our first morning terribly over cooked. The cost was very high for a fairly disappointing stay.
Review 75:The central location is good and the room comfortable.
Review 76:At breakfast on Sunday morning they had run out of toast! A group waiting for breakfast left on hearing this. Had traditional breakfast on Monday morning and had to wait over 25 minutes with only a few people having breakfast.
Review 77:Room was very nice, the bed being really comfortable.
Review 78:Room was far too hot, maybe they should keep the curtains drawn on sunny days with the windows open and the fan on before people get there?! I didn't sleep very well.
Review 79:Staff were really friendly and professional
Review 80:Nothing.
Review 81:This offers AA 4-star guest accommodation above a bar restaurant in the middle of one of the main shopping streets of Chichester, a short walk from the railway station. A young, friendly and helpful staff greeted me. My bedroom was very clean and with good facilities - small fridge with milk and mineral water within, hairdryer, iron and board, tea tray, CD player, tv, and a modern en suite with walk in shower. There is some early delivery traffic outside but double glazing reduces that. The only drawback for those with mobility problems is a flight of stairs to bedrooms - no lift.
Review 82:The room (5) was too hot and noisy when staff were clearing up (due to noisy stairs and floorboards) as they had to access store rooms next to the room.
Review 83:The staff were really friendly and helpful and couldn't be faulted. They were having the kitchen renovated so were v apologetic. Bathroom spotless and bed comfortable.
Review 84:great town centre location, pay parking (at reasonable prices ) nearby, nice atmosphere in Trents, friendly helpful professional staff, nice food. Overall, fun and relaxing
Review 85:Our fellow guests were very noisy during the night
Review 86:The room was beautifully appointed. The young staff were so very helpful and pleasant. Very buzzy place and an excellent breakfast
Review 87:Only thing I didn't like was the hamburger. Sometimes that is all you feel like. The meat patty was processed meat, and the bun was like egg loaf - didn't like that. Otherwise the food was good, the service excellent, atmosphere cosy.
Review 88:It was great that it is in the centre of town. It has recently had a change of management, so the staff were new, very enthusiastic and helpful. There is a lot of life there at night, but if you want to go to bed, close the double glazed windows, and you don't hear a thing.
Review 89:The room was hot- but they did provide a fan. Also the toilet appeared to have a problem as it was constantly running water.
Review 90:Stayed overnight here while attending a wedding. Room was lovely- clean, comfortable and had good amenities. The staff were helpful and attentive.
Review 91:Didn't realise it was a busy pub, v smoky outside when having a drink... Air con unit/extractor not sure outside room was noisy as had windows open room was very hot
Review 92:Room was comfortable and clean and staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 93:On a steamingly hot day, no windows had been opened in the room neither were the (partially threadbare!) curtains drawn against the sun. Lack of hanging space and no proper draws for storage (who needs a desk with tiny draws, especially when laden with useless equipment?) Guests need proper storage! Sizeable shower but it leaked on to the floor and the grouting was dirty. No breakfast cereals, juices or fruit were offered, simply the cooked options. No choice of bread; a round of droopy toast was put on the same plate as the food. No drinks refill was offered.
Review 94:Central location, easy from the station.
Review 95:Only issue would be the noise from people walking along the corridor outside the room, floorboards and stairs creaked quiet loudly.
Review 96:Rooms were nice and unique unlike most chain hotel rooms.
Review 97:A little expensive, but not bad for Chichester
Review 98:Young enthusiastic staff, very solicitous towards the customers. Comfortable room, with some nice touches, eg fridge with fresh milk for tea, orange juice.
Review 99:Dusty on headboard. Carpet didn't look very clean. Very noisy could hear people coming and going. Our room overlooked highstreet very busy with traffic and quite noisy.
Review 100:Room comfortable. Bathroom clean and modern. Able to control central heating ourselves. Breakfast available all morning so didn't have to get up too early. Fry up breakfast was delicious, not greasy very hot and well cooked.
Review 101:The room was so hot we had to have the window open all the time which made it so noisy it was hard to sleep. Bit disorganised when checking in and out.
Review 102:Great location 5mins from station and near to all sights, shops, restaurants and bars.
Review 103:No personal touch. One measly bottle of orange juice in the fridge.Shower gel and soap bolted tight to the wall!Price of £110 pounds to me was very steep. As a couple we travel a lot.Pleasant but no WOW factor.
Review 104:Room nice and clean.Practical, nothing outstanding.Shower and bath facilities were excellent.Breakfast very good too.
Review 105:Noise from the bar downstairs continued until about 11.30pm.
Review 106:The rooms are large, as is the ensuite bathroom. Beds were also very comfortable. The dinner we had in the restaurant was tasty. Located in the centre of town with ample public parking at the rear of the hotel.
Review 107:Lack of close long term parking; step just inside the door to the room, resulting in a fall, no warning sign on the door. Shower over the bath not appropriate for a disabled person. Very steep stairs to the room. Certainly not a hotel for disabled Breakfast had to ask for extra toast etc. no reception had to go to the bar.
Review 108:Did change room when shower situation explained but would not have happened if the one room with walk in shower was not free.
Review 109:nothing
Review 110:Very comfortable city centre hotel. Bearing in mind that this is a busy bar/restaurant and not a 5 star hotel it is clean and welcoming and excellent value for money. The breakfast was generous and freshly cooked.
Review 111:Chef called on sick so no breakfast! Not their fault but not mine either. I had paid for breakfast and a small reduction in price would have been the right thing to do.
Review 112:Location is excellent.
Review 113:Sound proofing NOT good. No fire escape from first floor other than the steep and narrow staircase up from the kitchen area.
Review 114:Location. Good food but pricey and not a lot of choice
Review 115:Our room was above the band on Easter Sunday evening, so hardly relaxing, but in future I would bear this in mind if coming back.
Review 116:The staff were, without exception, delightful and extremely helpful. Great value for Chichester.
Review 117:Very noisy at night but was a Saturday. Decorating in room unfinished. Could hear movement from what sounded like elephants in other rooms. Plumbing very noisy. Overpriced for quality of room. Basically a pub tarted up.
Review 118:Location. Comfortable bed. Breakfast ok but no fruit available. Near good choice of restaurants & shops.
Review 119:Too noisy! The building is old and not soundproofed. I doubt if any one has stood in a guest room to ensure that any sound from the bar/restaurant cannot be heard. To have a live band playing immediately under my room was not good. Trents should decide for whom they are catering.
Review 120:Well located for my purposes; friendly, helpful and efficient staff; comfortable, clean and well-appointed room; good food.
Review 121:It was a little noisey late at night -did not realise how popular the bar/restaurant would be -would have liked a proper reception area. The kettle seemed to be in an odd position in the wardrobe!!!
Review 122:The room and bathroom was very well maintained and loved the shower!!! It was the location of Trents that we went for mainly. we have to say the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Review 123:Didn't really enjoy the complimentary full English breakfast, hash brown was quite greasy and didn't like the flavor of the sausages, filled a hole though for our busy day ahead
Review 124:Staff were all very helpful and friendly, even have us £1 that we were short for parking! Room very clean, perfect for our one night stay. Enjoyed a nice hot bath and powerful shower
Review 125:We loved everything about the Trents. Clean and comfortable room. Very good food. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Located in a good central place with a bus stop right outside the door and a five minute walk to train station.
Review 126:Very steep stairs. We didn't use the restaurant because it was very busy - must be good! But that was no problem because of the central site.
Review 127:It's centrally placed, but the room was very quiet. It was also quite tastefully decorated, and had a big electric fan. 2nd hand book shop opposite was a bonus!
Review 128:The only downside to the stay was the busy beer garden outside. Although access was stopped to the garden at around 11:30, it was quite loud at times. I would not recommend for a family stay.
Review 129:Great food. The staff were very kind, friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and they were more than happy to stop for conversation. The room was very clean and tidy. Fresh milk and orange juice was given. Great place to stay for adults.
Review 130:Everything about my stay was perfect. The location, the food, the staff...The rooms were very clean and well appointed. I found it to be incredibly quiet for a Saturday night. Highly recommend.
Review 131:Being above a bar may be an issue if you want an early night, but was very quiet after midnight. Not an issue for me. It may also be quieter weeknights. I stayed on a Saturday night. TV control battery was dead. WiFi wasn't great.
Review 132:Very comfortable, large bed. Clean, fresh facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 133:Free wifi was intermittent strength, kept dropping out in the evening. Difficult to log onto VPN and get work done.
Review 134:Great stay, very comfortable, nice touch with fresh milk in the fridge. Breakfast excellent.
Review 135:Lack of wi-fi in the room we had although free wi-fi in the bar although this isn't well advertised to accommodation guests and the area in general doesn't have great mobile signal coverage although this isn't the hotels fault. Also worth letting people know the parking charges in the very small car park behind the establishment so they can bring enough change as it doesn't accept debit cards only a local car park car. Maybe time Chichester invested in pay by phone or updated their parking meters to accept cards especially as a lot of people wouldn't carry £8+ of change with them these days.
Review 136:Location was brilliant, facilities were good and room was light, airy and very comfortable.
Review 137:The second night of our stay was made very uncomfortable by the failure of the radiator controls (room 5) which raised the temperature to almost 24 degrees. The room has secondary double glazing and both sets of windows had to be wrestled open to get some fresh air. Access to the rooms is via a service corridor past bar and kitchen areas, and up steep stairs. Rooms at the rear overlook a patio area with tables; quiet in February but probably buzzing well into the night in warmer weather.
Review 138:Very well located for rail travellers and pedestrian access to the city.Good breakfast apart from lack of fresh fruit. Room had all amenities, but shoehorned into a smallish space.
Review 139:The wi fi wasn't too good when I was using FaceTime.
Review 140:Warm comfortable room. Very friendly helpful staff. Good location. Liked the fact that tea , coffee, fruit juice and water that was provided
