Reviews for Lockgate Dairy

Review 1:there were few options for eating dinner and for a female traveller the nearest option was a pub so not ideal.

Review 2:Decorated beautifully and the staff were extremely nice and very accomodating

Review 3:It was beautifully decorated, with lots of little thoughtful details. Very big bedroom and fantastic location. The owners were very helpful, recommend a fantastic restaurant and even called the taxi for us. Breakfast was huge and very tasty .

Review 6:Lovely room, comfortable 6ft wide bed, large bathroom with all we needed for a peaceful night. Full English breakfast with plenty of choice. Lockgate Dairy is in a great countryside location within easy reach of Chichester and the South coast resorts.

Review 7:Best b+b we ever stayed at. Lots to do in area and good pubs close by to eat dinner. Super clean, quiet country location, wonderful breakfast, superb modern facilities and very friendly owners. Really 5 stars.

Review 9:Wonderfully comfortable bed, spacious, well-fitted bathroom, high quality furnishings and fittings throughout and a very good selection of products and refreshments. Excellent breakfast and extremely warm and friendly host. The overall experience was good value at the (reduced) price we paid.

Review 10:We were asked to leave our breakfast halfway through due to them needing the table.

Review 11:Lovely property (Wren Cottage), perfect for a break with a toddler. Fairly tranquil surroundings (some noise from traffic in the morning but didn't detract from the location).

Review 12:Lovely rural location. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. We booked a superior room, to our surprise we stayed in one of the cottages which was very spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Would go back again and recommend this to anyone going down to Chichester for the weekend.

Review 13:Location was very close to west wittering beach which was ideal. Our two bedroom suite was in the main building. The cleanliness and attention to detail was top class. White company bed linen, cosy beds, Molton Brown toiletries, waitrose and locally sourced food were all best in class. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. They had two cute friendly dogs which kids liked very much.

Review 14:We didn't have a code for the WiFi, but not a big issue.

Review 15:Wonderful airy, quiet, romantic exquisitely decorated, with very friendly proprietors a brilliant breakfast, for our wedding night.

Review 16:Excellent location. Very friendly and accommodating staff. High standards and attention to detail. Would definitely recommend this to others. Convenient for many local attractions in the Chichester area.

Review 17:Comfy beds, quality toiletries and super size fluffy towels. Good selection at breakfast. Host very friendley with good knowledge of the local area and local restaurants.

Review 18:Quiet location that was great after a long flight. Very clean large modern airy room that was very nicely decorated in light colours. Great breakfast served by the very congenial host. A visit from the family dogs was very welcome. Chichester and surrounding area is beautiful. We are very critical about away from home accommodation and would not hesitate to recommend Lockgate Dairy Farm.

Review 19:NONE

Review 20:The actual place was rally lovely, tidy and clean. Location was excellent. Martin was very helpful and his breakfast was fantastic. Would definitely recommend!!

Review 21:The location was the bad point for us, especially trying to get back to the B & B in the dark.

Review 22:Good food and very comfortable together with nice touches, very tastefully decorated and furnished. Martin good company and eager to please.

Review 23:Fantastic clean room with lots of extra facilities, beautiful bathroom, amazing gardens, very peaceful, lovely home cooked breakfast to order, a fantastic welcome from the owners, they were very friendly and informative throughout our stay.

Review 24:We were looked after fantastically well with the owner going out of his way to help. Very clean and comfortable worthy of a 5 star hotel in our opinion. Breakfasts made individually and beautifully cooked

Review 25:Really nothing

Review 26:The family who owns the cottage is really generous. The facility is really clean and all details are looked after carefully. You will enjoy a typical British breakfast. The location is in a farm close to the beach which makes it perfect for many different activities, walking between farms playing in the beach and so on.

Review 27:A lovely rural setting with a pretty courtyard garden. Martin, the owner was very helpful and knowledgable.Top quality ingredients used for the tasty breakfast.

Review 28:Location superb, beautiful room....and breakfast was freshly prepared to order. My daughter needed help to order flowers and book a restraurant as a surprise for us and Martin helped to make all this possible.

Review 29:They were very accommodating to our group of two couples. Stayed in the two bed suite which was really lovely. Easy to find with the directions from Martin who was very helpful during our stay. Beautiful house and garden surrounded by fields.

Review 30:A lovely room with everything for comfort - beds, linen, towels, room. Breakfast was excellent - so much choice . Good suggestions as where to eat in evenings. A super stay.

Review 31:Lovely peaceful location but close to town for shops. The cottage was wonderful and I really like the little private garden for eating outdoors. Wifi was the best I've experienced in a B&B in quite a while. Martin was so friendly and helpful and produced the most spectacular breakfasts - far more than I could eat!

Review 32:nothing

Review 33:Very nice guesthouse, very nice rooms with very good en large beds. All very clean, and a very good shower. And what a breakfast the landlord served, very good and very much ! Might go back if in the neigbourhood or on my way to Land's End next trip !

Review 34:There was nothing we didn't like. The room was a little chilly at first, being early spring, but that is to be expected with no guests staying prior to us that weekend. Until it shortly warmed up, we just wore the cosy robes provided - which were another nice touch! I'd say we were treated almost royally!

Review 35:The most lovely factors were the friendly owners, huge comfy bed and delicious (as well as big!) breakfast. Lockgate Dairy was easy to find and near what we wanted to visit. For once, we found country-style rooms that were big enough for a 6'4" man! There were many nice touches in the room which made for a homely environment. In fact, we felt so relaxed by the time of departure that it seemed as though we must've stayed for longer than only one night!

Review 36:bit expensive even on goodwood w/e but expectations were exeeded so all happy

Review 37:just a nice place to stay, nice location, safe for nice cars to park and felt like we were visiting a friends house

Review 38:It would be nice to have an automatic light in the yard at night time (providing wild animals don't set it off all the time of course)

Review 39:The room was very comfy, warm and cosy, perfect to hide from the rain. Breakfast was lovely as were the hosts, look forward to staying again soon! A handy coffee machine, kettle and handy bits and bobs were within easy reach. We loved it! No problems finding the place with an Android phone and Google maps.

Review 40:Owner met us in person, showed us to our room and explained how everything worked eg coffee machine, blinds etc. He also recommended somewhere for our evening meal which was close by and very good.

Review 41:Would only add that the signage could be clearer on the road, especially for night arrivals.

Review 42:Martin and family very attentive. Peaceful rural location but near enough to all local attractions. The Suite is a great solution for families and the breakfast was booking Epic :0)

Review 43:There is nothing to dislike

Review 44:5 star luxury all the way. Breakfast amazing well all of it is. A wonderful jewel to discover. My suggestion stay there then you will know why I rate Lockgate Dairy so highly.

Review 45:Very relaxed and comfortable. lovely ambience and room to a high standard.Highly recommend the traditional English breakfast. Will certainly stay again when next in the area.

Review 46:Due to arriving late and needing to leave early, we didn't have enough time to enjoy!

Review 47:Lovely place. Superbly friendly and accommodating. Fab cottage. Will definitely stay again if in area.

Review 48:For some, the location might be a little out of the way but that was what we expected and what we were looking for. It really isn't so far off the beaten track!!

Review 49:Everything was spot on, from the amenities in the room, the hospitality from the hosts, the furnishings, breakfast, the little extras, the smaller details... Absolutely everything was as expected or better

Review 50:There was nothing to dislike, Martin does a brilliant job there.

Review 51:More of a 4* hotel than B&B. The great care and thought given to ensure our stay was first class - Molton Brown toiletries, fluffy robes, umbrella, coffee machine, hair dryer, radio etc. etc. Everything was clean and of an extremely high quality including the breakfast! Perfect.

Review 52:Bit difficult to find, as sat nav only located general area so difficult to locate in dark with no specific directions.

Review 53:new, purpose built, great quality furnishings, facilities and food. Lovely welcome, quiet and peaceful. I regularly stay in hotels (more than 220 nights per year) - this is in the top 3 favourites in UK

Review 54:Satnav finds it easily but lack of signs and a reception area with someone in attendance makes one concerned you have actually found it. We arrived 40 minutes before the 4pm check-in, decided it was a private property and spent a fruitless half hour searching the surrounding area. The owners say that signage is on the agenda. Otherwise is is difficult to criticise this lily.

Review 55:Still jn developmental mode but what has been converted is of the highest standard with exceptional attention to detail and comfort. Local produce is used for breakfast and is generous in quality and quantity. Unique is the provision of a Nespreso coffee machine for each room. Perfectly located for easy access to Chichester. Lockgate Dairy has raised the bar for local competiti on and well merits its high reputation .

Review 56:Lovely location, hosts were excellent, breakfasts were large and excellent quality, also a great selection of hot and cold choices. Room was very comfortable and well appointed. We've already recommended this to three friends, and will definitely be staying here again.

Review 57:Erm, not much to dislike. The shower could do with a grab rail and there was no full length mirror but other than that, Martin was on top of his feedback and was rectifying this anyway. All good :D

Review 58:The B&B was beautifully dressed, with the owners using good quality linen from The White Company, offering Molton Brown in the bathroom and breakfast was served with the main provider being Waitrose/Duchy etc. Just from these small things, you can tell that you are staying in a decent place. Martin the owner was extremely friendly and hospitable. He can also cook a damn fine English breakfast - and huge kudos to his scrambled egg! The actual venue was off the beaten track and incredibly peaceful. We were attending a wedding at Southend Barns and whilst most people sent off to the Premier Inn, we stole the opportunity to make a weekend of it and relax in style. And we definitely relaxed! All in all a splendid stay and I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone.

Review 59:no criticism.

Review 60:It was a home away from home. Friendly, open house feel. Good breakfast, welcoming chocolates and tea tray was added bonus. Real fresh milk in room fridge was a bonus. Children were very welcoming.

Review 61:Difficult to find, not well signposted. Room was made up as a double and we had requested 2 singles so had to wait while someone stripped and remade the beds. Not a problem in itself but not when you consider how much it cost!

Review 62:The bedroom and bathroom were decorated to a very high spec and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection of produce.

Review 63:breakfast room...grubby carpet, very small room breakfast Advertised as 5 star....it is about 3.6 star Sheets on bed clean, but stained...not acceptable in 5 star

Review 64:wi fi location

Review 65:Absolute luxury.Lovely rural location.Very friendly hosts. If you have the full English breakfast, don't expect to eat for the rest of the day! The finest B & B we have ever experienced.

Review 66:Wonderful room, so clean and fresh. We were made very welcome by Martin and Helen and the breakfast was amazing too. Would have liked a small table and chairs to sit outside but overall a fantastic place. Will highly recommend.

Review 67:Very comfortable room with large bathroom. Walk out of the back door through a lovely garden to the guest's conservatory complete with self service bar and delightful breakfast room. Breakfast is very good. Highly recommended.

Review 73:The rooms were of a great standard and looked lovely. As a family of 5 with young children we had two rooms but our own separate unit.
