Reviews for Hôtel Donjon Vincennes

Review 1:Room very small- fine for sleeping, but not for spending much time otherwise.

Review 2:Great location, very helpful manager, excellent breakfast, extremely quiet room.

Review 3:Pillows and bed uncomfortable and walls could do will some more sound proofing.

Review 4:Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice to see rooms have been newly decorated since last year.

Review 5:Transport from airport to hotel was complicated and expensive. Electrics in hotel were in a dangerous condition (fitting came away from wall while removing a socket). Watch out for the black wrappers on the sugar at breakfast. The dye comes off and goes all over your hands. It was necessary to walk from one side of the room to wash hands after using the toilet. The hand rail on the balcony was loose. The lift position is novel. Décor is quite gloomy.

Review 6:Location was ideal for the purpose of our trip. Good places to eat nearby. Quiet location.

Review 7:The long-haired carpet. Sneezed all night. They have it because it's an old building with loud wooden floors though. The toilet was separate in a non ventilated box in the room. The first thing I smelled entering the room.

Review 8:Very friendly staff, speaking very good English. Close to subway n*1 that takes you to the heart of Paris. Nice area. Nice looking room.

Review 9:The room and bathroom were small but comfortable, very clean. Good position for a visit of Vincennes, but it is also very easy to reach Paris city centre by metro.

Review 10:Far from center, no parking, tiny rooms even for Paris. paper thin Walls, hard bed, no a/C, hairs on bed, bad heater. Would not recommend, I paid for two rooms ahead of time and I was told I needed to pay one more single room or I would not be able to stay and loose my money since I already paid ahead, it Cost me an extra 100 euros. It is my third trip to París and there aré better hotels for the price than this. I will rather not go to Paris, than stay here. It is a 2 star Hotel but it should be zero or 1 star.

Review 11:Easy train access

Review 12:Small room, very small bathroom (especially shower), lifts only stopping at 1/2 floors so difficult with a heavy suitcase

Review 13:Location, very quiet, very clean and tidy, friendly and good value for money

Review 14:Not much to dislike. Stairs are a little steep - but this is the norm in most small Parisienne hotels. The door to the lift closes a little to quick - and the bath could do with a shower curtain - but that's it!

Review 15:My second stay and it didn't disappoint. Expectations were maintained. Great value in an attractive and quite part of town. Direct Metro line to the centre and some good restaurants in the neighbourhood (check out L'Amourette - it's about 15 walk from the hotel).

Review 16:Hotel DonJon Vincennes is a pleasant and comfortable hotel, around 10 minutes by taxi from Gare du Lyon, Paris. Located in a quiet residential area, we enjoyed the calm neighborhood which is within a few minutes walk to the nearest Metro (Berault) offering easy access to the sights of the city. The room was small, like most European hotels - and our first impression wasn't great. In a little while, we grew used to the size and the rest of our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The beds were comfortable, with clean sheets and soft pillows. Hot and cold water, clean toilets and a Hansgrohe shower stall! The staff were extremely polite and helpful, especially Crystelle who was involved right from the time we started planning our trip, helping out with several issues and making our stay enjoyable and convenient.

Review 17:Would have loved a kettle to make the essential cup of tea and although with the windows wide open the room was cool enough, aircon would probably be wonderful in the height of summer.

Review 18:We have just had 5 nights at the hotel donjon in August. We found the hotel 5 mins walk from the Metro with a welcoming smile at all times. Information about where and what to do was greatly recieved as time was precious. Room although a little small for 3 was perfectly adequate. Continental breakfast was good and nothing was too much trouble. It was wonderfully quiet even with the windows open which was great for sleeping. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Review 19:No air conditioning, but they do have plans to install ceiling fans.

Review 20:This is a great family run hotel in the lovely city of Vincennes. The breakfast was very good. Christal, the assistant manager has lived in the U.S. and speaks very good English.

Review 21:Friendly staff who really made me feel welcome! Beautiful room and a great view of the courtyard. It was wonderful to have a long bath after a day of sightseeing in Paris!

Review 22:I booked for friends from USA and they loved it and found the staff helpful and friendly. We recommend this Hotel highly.

Review 23:The location is good, close to Metro station, bars and restaurants.

Review 24:Hotel is located within 2 minutes of the Chateau Vincennes. Staff is very accommodating and willing to help.

Review 25:Very helpful, attentive staff created a relaxed, friendly base to explore central Paris with easy access on Line 1 from nearby Metro station.

Review 26:Short bed and breakfast very basic for the price.

Review 27:Great location, clean and tidy, good price

Review 28:no drinks allowed in the room

Review 29:We had a excellent time, very clean a good service.,Highly recommend

Review 30:Room comfort (bed, heating etc) Cleanliness of room Friendly staff

Review 31:The staff were amazing. They were quite helpful, welcoming, kind, and thoughtful. The hotel is very clean and affordable. The location is excellent.

Review 32:Good business hotel with friendly staff and great location, quiet area near Bois de Vincennes and the Parc Floral de Paris

Review 33:Host is exceptional :) free breakfast for kids.

Review 34:Rooms aren't particularly quiet but it's not a busy hotel Rooms are a tad small/could do with a better layour Shower and bathroom is a touch cramped

Review 35:Great location Lovely neighbourhood Close to local amenities Nice decor Great staff Free wifi

Review 36:The staff are very helpful and really friendly. We had a relaxing stay here. Comfy beds and clean rooms, perfect on a budget city break. Great transport links into central Paris, but also lots of good bars, brasseries and local shops to keep you occupied too. Nice quite area.

Review 37:Good location (not far from the city centre via metro and in a nice area itself), good value, friendly and helpful staff, all the facilities we needed, balcony view.

Review 38:The bathroom needs a shower curtain as well as a facility to hang the shower head on the wall rather than holding it in the hand. We did point this out at checkout. If they do this then the hotel will be absolutely perfect. Also one or two options of no/low-sugar cereals at breakfast would be a plus.

Review 39:A very friendly family run hotel. All newly refurbished in a tasteful manner and very comfortable en-suite bedroom with large bathroom. The free wifi worked perfectly well and the breakfast was always very nice and pleasant. The hotel is also very close to the Metro Line 1 and RER A stations which makes it feel like you're actually inside Paris. The hotel is also next to the Bois de Vincennes, a large wood, which is ideal for jogging or long walks or horse riding as it's very pleasant and varied. It's also very close to the excellent public swimming pool and spa "Le Dome" at Fontenay-sous-Bois just 1 RER stop away (or 15 min walk).

Review 40:Room overlooking street was hot, hot, hot. Also noisy and floodlit with street lamp, even with shutter closed.

Review 41:Great location for sight seeing in and out of Paris. Great restaurant nearby. Good breakfast. Courtyard room was nice -- quiet and cool.

Review 42:One twin room needs to be redecorated more cheerfully..red and grey decor was a let down. Shower could have a stronger pressure flow and could be cleaner around the tiles and tray area. Easy to remedy it to make it look pristine.

Review 43:Very near the Metro station Line 1 (perfect!) and local supermarkets plus shopping in nearby Saint Mande. Excellent location for chilling out near Chateau des Vincennes. Lovely residential neighbourhood to walk around. Beautiful buildings. Good restaurants to choose.Staff were really warm and friendly. Would come recommend it to others. Excellent location away from the hustle and bustle of Paris after a day's touring.

Review 44:Nothing, it was a great place to stay.

Review 45:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the location, good places to eat locally with good atmosphere and good metro access to city centre.

Review 46:This hotel was exactly what you want for visiting the city: bare bones offerings, but clean/comfortable/courteous, which is all a tourist really wants in a hotel. As a result, it is definitely worth the price. The man at the front desk spoke little english, but made every effort to communicate.

Review 47:Noisy!! No sound proofing between rooms, staff cleaning early in the morning could be heard throughout the entire hotel (up and down the tower like staircase, off which the rooms were), people just walking up and down the stairs could be heard throughout the building; small room; boring and dated decoration and furnishings in the room; Quite expensive considering the about points about room furnishing and lack of sound proofing.

Review 48:Good location near the Metro, and in residential area (no street noise), comfortable bed, free wifi. Really lovely area, with the castle and woods close by - better than staying in the busy city!

Review 49:Got an email that I did not get because of lack of wifi service before coming to hotel, that told me that they had to move me to another Tune Hotel in Westminster instead. Email was sent that morning. No reason given but our reservations were still good at the one at Vincennes.

Review 50:We were put up on the handicap double room, which was big and clean. Had a view of the street below.

Review 51:Bath only in our room 014. No shower curtain. Shower head stand too low. Not able to stand and shower easily, very awkward for people with disabilities or limited mobility. Door to room needs to be sound-proofed. walls ok Hairdryer in room didn't work, but one was provided on asking.

Review 52:Very helpful and friendly staff. Room: beds were very comfortable. Tasteful decoration. Bathroom clean and spacious free wifi in room Location good , away from tourist traffic but easy access to metro. Lovely gardems close by Village feel of surrounding area.

Review 53:A little noisy, one could hear voices from nextdoor, but quietpart of paris

Review 54:Nice tiny hotel staff very friendly and supportive good publictransport to city centre parc/ woods not far from there cafes andstores around

Review 55:The only things I would change is more storage for clothes but were only there for 2 nights and happy to live from the suitcase, and the hand held shower. But not a big deal really.

Review 56:The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was clean and the breakfast was superb! Although it is a little far from the centre of Paris it is very close to the metro and very easy to get to.

Review 57:Rather noisy rooms (noise from adjacent rooms, not from traffic)

Review 58:Friendly and helpful staff, situated in a nice area. Very close to the Bérault metro station for line 1 which runs straight from east to west paris along the river seine.

Review 59:I hated the fact that the pictures I looked at online looked no whereclose to what kind of room I stayed in. It was way too small than thepictures showed, it was dark and gloomy in the room, the furniture wasfalling apart, the bed was very uncomfortable and I booked a room with afull bathroom with a shower and what I really got was a tub with abroken drain that wouldn't close, that had a shower head butwasn't actually a shower. It made it very hard to wash my hair. Itmade me and my husband's stay very discomforting and we felt cheatedby the false pictures it showed... Also, the room seriously smelt likemy grandmother....very old and cheap smelling.... Worst hotel I haveever stayed in.....

Review 60:I liked how close it was to the metro and how friendly the staff was.

Review 61:Thought the room was a little small but maybe this reflects the good position.

Review 62:Excellent position, very helpful and friendly staff. Hotel was very clean every day I was there

Review 63:Simplicity and warmth in the welcome for guests. A simple traditionalhotel, nothing fancy but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Situated in aquiet safe part of Paris in the most elegant part of Vincennes, withfast easy links to the centre of the city by metro and rer.

Review 64:Didn't look like the pictures shown on the website regarding the bedroom. We booked room with shower, no shower, just a shower on the bath which was very small. Room was cold and smelly, peeling paper.

Review 65:The hotel didn't inform us that there wouldn't be brekfast onJan 1st! We rushed down for a brekfast that wasn't to be!

Review 66:Clean family run hotel in an excellent location for accessing all thespectacular sights of Paris and for spending time away from the cityeither for meals in the evening or for a walk to the Chateau.

Review 67:Nice and helpful staff, location near a metro station, and excellent value for money.

Review 68:the walls are so tin... I could hear the people out side my room, like they are i my room.....

Review 69:Great location, very clean.

Review 70:Rooms too small! Not close to the center of the city

Review 71:The personal was nice and competent.

Review 72:Bath not usable Very White and std bathroom

Review 73:Nice room Calm Close to bois de Vincennes Comfortable bed

Review 74:Friendly staff Good value for money in Paris Near the subway

Review 75:I thought the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was comfortable and typically french :)

Review 76:No shower curtain, coffee only for breakfast!

Review 77:Staff, location, clean, quiet, neighbourhood

Review 78:excellent staff

Review 79:Bathroom too small

Review 80:Position, staff very friendly

Review 81:Old and had squeaky floorboards, so it could be a little noisy late at night.

Review 82:Staff were helpful and friendly and spoke English.

Review 83:Rooms are not sound-proof. Bathroom small.

Review 84:Clean and stylish. Location is convenient and safe.
