Reviews for Miramar

Review 1:Superbly quirky decor, excellent breakfast made to order, very comfortable bed, peaceful night's sleep, secure cycle storage. Bonus for geeks: in Room 8 you can watch the freight trains go over the level-crossing ... from your bed!!

Review 2:To be honest precious little such as the odd light not working.

Review 3:The location to the railway station could not be more convenient. We enjoyed our meals in the adjoining restaurant. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. Some very minor problems but tell me what hotel does not have those. Tea and coffee facilities available in rooms.

Review 4:Had room number 4. Very dark hardly any natural light. Very basic but nevertheless good value for money. It wouldn't put me off staying here again

Review 5:Restaurant food and drink - very good value and of good quality. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 6:Ok. Yes it's dated and shabby. It is quirky and old. It's clean and comfortable. The car park is free and secure Breakfasts were lovely You get what you pay for. Stop expecting the Ritz if you're only willing to pay £92 for two nights

Review 7:Inconsiderate guests

Review 8:Noise was unexpectedly loud people shouting behind ill and alarms going off booked two night stayed just one after having 2 hours sleep.

Review 9:Area not nice building in need of maintenance inside awful lots of things broken. Very dated no light bulbs in the bedroom ceiling lights or over the sink. Bed very uncomfortable, smelt damp and mouldy. No breakfast after 9am arrived 9.03 so missed it, staff did their job and no more, no written information in the room. No drug taking notices on every floor and reception. Paid £59 deal via booking.com but room rate advertised at hotel as £55 standard rate for same room but had to pay £59 total scam would never stay there again even if I was to paid to stay there use booking.com a lot but this has put me off even booking with them.

Review 10:When it was time to leave

Review 11:A number of lights not working in room, stale cigarette smoke smell in bathroom, no-one around at checkout and nowhere to leave room key.

Review 12:The staff were great. The bed was comfy and I only had to walk two minutes in any direction to get chips. Also really close to the station for those travelling by rail. Lots of clean towels and soaps. Plenty of teas and coffees too.

Review 13:Nothing don't stay

Review 14:Nothing it was awful looked at room and left in middle of a complaint couldn't stay there no window and room was not fit for anyone in there own mind

Review 15:Very run down. Loads needs doing to the infrastructure. Lots of things just worked poorly or didnt work at all. No real hot water. Lukewarm after running for about 5 minutes. Old defunct equipment still hanging around without being properly decommissioned. The whole place needs closing for a year and needs a completing gutting inside and out. Fire alarm went and the manager did not deal with a smoker in a non smoking room. My wife had to deal with it.

Review 16:very little. Although the staff were reasonably courteous.

Review 17:We were in the top room which was quite warm with a small skylight window. The room was dark and the main light and sink light didn't work. The room just needed to be upgraded but did its job. Area was very dodgy so we travelled everywhere by car.

Review 18:The restaurant and breakfast was very good. The staff were lovely and friendly.

Review 19:I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with my daughter Angela. The hotel had a lot of character with a great history behind it which made it a very interesting place to stay. It's location to the railway station was a plus. Although not the quality of the Ritz, in terms of décor and glamour - with a need for a bit of maintenance here and there - it more than made up for this with a great atmosphere and friendliness. It was also clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable. Menu was varied, reasonably priced and good quality food. The staff - lead by Vito - the Boss, (Idalina, Paul, Renato, Sophie and Kelsey) were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We would stay at the hotel again if and when we are in that part of the country again

Review 20:Liked handiness location good for where I was going

Review 21:The breakfast lady a pleasure to speak to very good at her job my husband not used to getting cooked breakfast as I am not keen he said it is the best one he has ever had how do I follow that?

Review 22:Lumpy mattress, not en-suite small shower and only luke warm, tiny TV in the room, decor and carpets need modernising, and repainting

Review 23:Nothing here to like, although the staff are nice

Review 24:There was no curtains on window, first room had electric cables taped over our bed, paint was peeling off on ceiling in the shower,do I need to go on,will not stay here ever again

Review 25:Place looked boarded up when approached from station, found an entrance on main road. Very run down area, price was high considering condition - very run down. OK for tradesman requiring a stop over but not for couples or families.

Review 26:only yards from the station, breakfast ok

Review 27:The lights didn't work in the room (we read by our phone lights!) and water dripped through a huge mold patch on the landing outside our room - right through a light fitting! Bizarrely landscape pictures had been hung on their side and the whole furnishings were very dated but clean. The bed was so soft, we rolled together and bashed heads when we first got on!

Review 28:The staff were friendly and the breakfast was one of the best I've had. Served quickly and with a smile.

Review 29:The shower didn't work properly and the hotel could do with a face lift.

Review 30:The staff were very helpful and made you welcome and the food was really good, the bedroom was okay.

Review 31:generally everything appeared grubby although carpets were clean very dated interior needs a coat of paint and some modern fixtures not at all as advertised very disappointed

Review 32:breakfast was ok but limited choice

Review 33:Room very basic and old fashioned, had washing basin in room and toilet and shower in separate room, bedroom furniture could do with replacing.

Review 34:Nice friendly people, nice bar and restaurant, and good breakfast, and room clean.

Review 35:Very basic rooms but clean. Happy with our rooms 1 and 4. Rooms on higher floors not so good, smelled of gas and worst of all was that one couple of our group stayed in room 14 and had to share their toilet and shower with room 13. Not nice!!

Review 36:Bar was very friendly with cheap drinks. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic

Review 37:The only thing I would say about this hotel is that the decor needs updating immediately

Review 38:Welcoming Comfortable and relaxing Clean Breakfast was absolutely delicious !!!!!

Review 39:was on the second floor tv didnt work was cold in the room when we arrived the light on the landing so couldnt see to put the key in the door asked for a later stay noone got back to us odd mugs left in the room for us to drink out of and which they wasnt clean very poor

Review 40:The shower was small and the sink is in the bedroom which was not bad overall a nice place however breakfast is only till 9am and no staff on site till 11 or 12 which I didnt like because you have to ask for a iron and no one was there when you have to check out at 10.30.

Review 41:The room was nice and staff were friendly.

Review 42:The hotel is friendly, comfortable, local to shops and amenities. There is an excellent restaurant attached to the hotel. Food is always good. Breakfast exceptional. Staff are very well mannered and polite.

Review 43:But noisy with trains and people walking by

Review 44:The room was basic but the breakfast was superb, cooked fresh and custom made, amazing poached eggs and friendly and helpful staff.

Review 45:The decor has seen better days! I would have liked proper coffee (instead of instant) for breakfast and some brown toast! And marmalade instead of jam!

Review 46:Evening food is good and cheap! The room was spotlessly clean.

Review 47:Would be a lovely place if updated

Review 48:Staff very friendly for what we paid was as good as could be nice lady who did breakfast but never asked her name but very friendly

Review 49:Our toilet was broke so couldn't flush and the light in the corridor didn't work.

Review 50:The staff were amazing couldn't fault them food was good and brilliant value for money

Review 51:We had a very bad experience with my girlfriend being sick after we'd eaten in their restaurant. They even had the audacity to take a further large sum of money out my bank to pay for it and said I'd be had for libel if I said anything!. Booking.com have thankfully backed me on this issue and Trading Standards have been informed.

Review 52:Bath ventilation did not work. Sink is in the room, so finish your toilet and come back in the room to wash hands. No WiFi. Stairs are all with doors- not freely climbing up. Some electrical wiring are exposed- though the cable endings are wrapped with tape. Tiny Toilet/Bath- around 2.5" x 6".

Review 53:Staff were very friendly, hospitable. Breakfast was good- full English breakfast, but not with a wide range of item, but we were happy. We had to quickly sneak in the restaurant later to get some sugar, as not enough sugar in the room. Floor was all over neat and clean. Hot shower was good.

Review 54:Stayed 2 nights 20/21 Feb. Rooms are a little dated but clean and warm. Restaurant food is excellent with a good choice and a nice selection of wines and beers - generally a cosy pub/restaurant. All the staff and very friendly. The breakfast is freshly cooked to order with good quality ingredients and certainly sets you up for the day. And it is served with a smile from the nice Portugese lady.

Review 55:That £55 was taken out of my bank and not the £38 as when booked and didn't know how to rectify this overcharge

Review 56:Breakfast staff are always so accommodating, I cannot remember her name but nothing is too much trouble. Always willing to talk and make you feel at ease, nothing is ever too much trouble.

Review 57:The rooms could probably do with a revamp, but they are clean

Review 58:The fact that they always remember my past visits, The staff always make me feel so welcome. It really is value for money

Review 59:The miramar could do with a facelift and decorated and has some general maintenance issues eg: room 14 shower head is not fixed to the wall properly, flooring around shower is loose and needs to be reglued shaver light needs to be replaced and bedside table draw fronts pull off in hand, room 8 lighting above bed broken on one side and bed the other side has exposed cables paint above shower peeling off !! All these remarks are simple cheap fixes which should be dealt with immediately.

Review 60:The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable the staff was excellent

Review 61:Everything needs updating.

Review 62:Good friendly atmosphere. Staff helpful. I felt very comfortable to sit in the bar on my own and have a drink. It's a bit shabby and needs a facelift.

Review 63:The room allocated to me was unavailable as the previous guest had taken the key! The attic room I was given was cold with NO HOT WATER and no light in the toilet/shower. Food adequate

Review 64:Staff tried to be helpful but sometimes failed

Review 65:The fire alarm went off at 05.45 hrs, which wasn't the hotel staff's fault. I wasn't told where to go for breakfast in the morning and had to find out from a fellow guest.

Review 66:The room was very clean and comfortable with everything I needed.

Review 67:The rooms were very dirty, bathroom was covered in mould, bed was mouldy, staff un helpful, it was like a hostel for drunks. Someone tried to kick my door in one night, I had to wedge a chair under the handle to stop them. I would never stay here again, it was in a bad area.

Review 68:The rooms are very basic and dont expect more than the 2 star here as clearly the rooms on the premises have not been updated for some time and let it down a bit .Very basic facilities in the room so dont expect a pucker flat screen tv or power shower here but clean and bearable as it is probably the cheapest overnight stay in LLanelli.(The food and ambience especially in the bar downstairs makes up for the rooms shortfall).Used i guess in the main by visiting manual workers/business people as signs about not wearing muddy/oil boots on the approach to the rooms but nevertheless clean.hotel is a distance from the shops and town centre but walkable just.

Review 69:The food is very very good and very reasonable price.Large portions and Sunday dinner and an evening meal were very enjoyable, decent quality and wholesome.Breakfast being free with the room was equally freshly cooked on request and suprising due to cost of the room. Very convenient for any rugby match at the Scarlets stadium which was the purpose of our stay.£1 each way by local bus 30yards away at the Railway station behind/beside the hotel for the local stadium rugby matches.LLanelli Train station and a taxi office just 10 yards further. There is a secure private hotel car park where you have a key for the entrance gate on checking in and your car is locked in at night and nice and safe at night.Mature and/or clearly regular families are the customers that use the bar/restaurant so no issues on that front.

Review 70:The road outside is quite noisy as is the railway

Review 71:Restaurant, excellent choices and value Friendly staff Overnight off road, locked car parking. Comfortable rooms Excellent breakfast Excellent value for money

Review 72:The bedroom was in need of decoration, the ceiling was stained with a water mark and the curtain rail needed replacing

Review 73:The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. There was an excellent cooked breakfast. We had an outside door key so could come in after our event in Llanelli which finished quite late.

Review 74:Noise from bar area in some rooms can be loud

Review 75:I have been going to this hotel for 12 months every six weeks. I am always made to feel welcome. Lady in thw kitchen is brilliant, she always chats to me and is very friendly, her breakfast is brilliant and sets me up for my day, I am also offered a pack lunch excellent value for money. I certainly recommend to others

Review 76:We were in 5 friends and we booked 3 rooms. We found a bad surprise when we arrived:the rooms were not reserved maybe for a mistake by the staff or something else we don't know. The staff tried to repear to the damage giving us an apartament with no light and no paper in the toilet..I felt very surprised when i received the same charge on my credit card as we had used the 3 rooms initially booked..I asked for the owner but i couldn't speak with him..Now i can understand why..Be careful.

Review 77:The girls of the staff

Review 78:Seedy area, more like a pub than a hotel. Shower awkward to use (had to be held in the hand). Alarm/radio didn't work.Too much noise from the railway.

Review 79:Helpful service, low cost, good breakfast, convenient position, free car parking, willingness to conform with our need for an early departure

Review 80:The decor both inside and out looked tired although they had made an effort with the restaurant furnishings and place settings. The shower was awkward and the bedroom was cramped but adequate.

Review 81:The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was good value for money.

Review 82:I booked a single room for two nights but actually stayed in a cottage. This had two bedrooms upstairs and two further single beds downstairs as well as a kitchen, lounge-diner and bathroom. The cottage seemed to be preparing for refurbishment and some rooms were over-furnished. There were bathroom fittings laying around in various places. However the whole experience was an unexpected bonus and a peaceful haven. I had to provide my own refreshment for the cottage, and a battery for the clock (which now works!) but a generous breakfast was included in the price and the hotel is also a popular local drinking and eating establishment with a good reputation for food. Unfortunately I could not avail myself of the restaurant at this visit. I would certainly return a second time if I need to - especially if I am offered the cottage again!

Review 83:Well the area was pretty grim, you can't expect the Ritz at these prices, you get what you pay for

Review 84:Helpful staff gave free lunch packs that was a nice touch

Review 85:When approaching, initial thought (oh my days!). Next to railway line. Carpark access through glass strewn lane. Reception straight ahead passed toilets. Alarm bells ringing when proceeding to room, sign warning that drug abuse would not be tolerated on premises (although we cannot help thinking this would have made our stay far more tolerable.)... many of these signs smashed. On entering the room our initial thought "eww, what's that smell?". Faults, too many to mention... but a few are as follows; damp patch on ceiling (presumably bodily fluids from corpse in room above), electric wiring hanging out of wall, furniture falling apart, paint peeling of walls in bathroom, holes in walls, wall lamp above bed in danger of falling on head, and oh yes, not forgetting 'that smell!' It is safe to say, that the Miramar's only redeeming feature was the cooked breakfast. Excellent. Finally, the Miramar has character...... but so did Hitler. P.S. forgot to mention, that to say the area was rough, is a gross understatement. A mixture of Beirut, the Gaza strip and the near/middle east generally. Stay here at your peril. Don't say you haven't been warned!

Review 86:Breakfast.

Review 87:The hotel in general is in need of a facelift. The entrance to reception needs painting and looks dirty, it gives a poor first impression.

Review 88:We had two rooms for my sister and I. They were clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was first class.

Review 89:rushed, not properly shown round. beds not made up. no cutlery. not seeing anyone else, no atmosphere.

Review 90:friendly staff upgraded to cottage, but not told why, cottage felt a bit creepy i would of prefered to of stayed in the pub

Review 91:This Hotel is the worst Hotel that We have ever booked ...The outside was dirty and the standard of the room so poor that we got up early next morning without a wash or breakfast because the Shower had no light inside ...the sink had no plug or hot water and the curtains had marks on them ....worst of all the noise was awful and the Hotel was in need of a facelift especially on the outside .

Review 92:Nothing at all

Review 93:To my mind this is not a hotel but a pub in a working class area. The weather was unusually cold for this time of year(late August) but there was no heating in the room. There was no window but a glass panel door, the top of which opened like a window, leading straight into a yard giving the guest a feeling of insecurity. I was constrained to report to the breakfast room well before 8.30 so that it could be locked up dead on 9am.

Review 94:Proximity excellent for rail travel. Full English breakfast good.

Review 95:Water stain on roof ,broken light above bed with live wires sticking out of it. Shower shelf broken with screws sticking out, toilet roll holder broken,

Review 96:As mentioned rooms very dated. Was a bit chilly for August and the noise from the pubs across the road and trains would probably keep less sound sleepers awake. I'd put both these things down to the old windows.

Review 97:Good value for money. The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a lick of paint, but on the whole good enough for the price. Staff very friendly and were accommodating of the baby. The car parking is good and secure enough. The central location and links to the nicer places like the Gower and Pembrokeshire were a selling point.

Review 98:Room had all the facilities one would expect and off a reasonable size . If travelling by train could Mont be Moore convenient. Trains did not disturb of at night. The sub grub was excellent value many meals at £5.00 well presented and good portion size. Breakfast was off a good standard .

Review 99:The only hot water was in the shower,no plug in basin,no tumblers.the window wouldnt close, had no locks. Our friend of 82 was moved three times in one week, the last time unknown to her,her belongings were taken from her room by the cleaner(without permision) to a different room and different floor.this is unacceptable . She booked eleven months ahead and was treated abdominably. We would not give this hotel 1* the area at night was a no go area.

Review 100:The staff were pleasant.the breakfast very good.the bed was clean.evening meals were good, home made chicken pie very tasty,so were the home made chips, Convenience to train station and taxi rank.

Review 101:Shower cubicle broken.. The room was compact but serviceable.. More suitable for quick stopover not a leisure break.

Review 102:Bar meal in the evening was good as was the breakfast. All the staff were great.

Review 103:Didn't have no problems

Review 104:The service was very friendly, & staff very good. The breakfast was excellent, so much couldn't finished. Will differently stay again on next visit.

Review 111:Food was excellent

Review 112:Nothing.

Review 113:The location - right next to the station.

Review 114:The food in the restaurant was excelant also the breakfast

Review 115:Mattress in bed a little lumpy

Review 116:Lication

Review 117:I thought it was excellent value for money. 10 mins walk from the centre of town, clean, comfortable and friendly.

Review 118:Wifi

Review 119:Breakfast

Review 120:The staff are brilliant, the lady at breakfast has exceptional customer care so, good at her job

Review 121:Bed smelled of ingrained cigarette smoke. Party going on in premises until 2 am. Bath room small desperate need of painting.

Review 122:Smells , very old looking, room old and broken furniture. Noise. Food discussing.r

Review 123:Nothing

Review 124:handy for the railwaystation and a good base for local attractions

Review 125:Hot water not very hot.

Review 126:Location good close to sta

Review 127:Great value for money

Review 128:Wifi was only available in the pub.

Review 129:Very friendly personel !!! Very nice pub in the hotel with good food. Good breakfast and we even got a lunchpack!
