Reviews for Guesthouse Alexandra

Review 1:Would prefer a chair to third bed for a child. Nowhere to sit in the room was a major minus. After we paid, owner disappeared. There was nobody to ask how to work the safe (you could pick it up and walk away anyway).

Review 2:Clean room. Good bathroom with adequate shelves (too often we have been in hotels or B&Bs with little bathroom shelving for travellers' toiletries).

Review 3:Excellent location - close to everything, but still quiet. Spotless - and the rooms were cleaned daily. A wonderful example of Greek hospitality - albeit my negligence to inform them of our arrival time, they waited for us at the port until the last boat came. Gorgeously furnished - in a traditional building with original wooden beams and stone walls. You can't get better.

Review 4:The staff were very kind and helpful, we had to stay in both the apartment and the room as there was a problem with the room initially and both were very comfortable, clean and pleasant. The guesthouse is in the best possible location, near the port and near many great places to eat. If we ever visit the island again, we will definitely stay here!

Review 5:No breakfast offered.

Review 6:Close to the center of Hydra town, go in, go out, nobody bats an eye, feel right like home. The room was large, with a comfy bed, A/C, nice bathroom, and they clean up the room daily.

Review 7:Nothing in particular

Review 8:Two adults and a child 11 years old stayed for 3 nights at Guesthouse Alexandra. The room was very clean, with a comfortable bathroom, a fridge and a little niche to prepare some coffee or tea. The room was air conditioned, but we didn't need to use it. Location is fine, very close to the harbour, and very convenient, since we didn't need to climb up narrow alleys or steps. The owner was very helpful and gave us advice what to see and do on the island.

Review 9:Beautiful boutique guest house close to the port. The owner was so friendly and could not do enough for us. The location was great close to the port but tucked away in a quiet street. Highly recommended.

Review 10:There was a big rain storm and we got rather wet !! Otherwise we loved it all.

Review 11:Panagiotis met us at the harbour and the house is a short walk away down a pretty cobbled street. He was most helpful. The house is beautifully restored with simple rooms - and lovely stone walls. It's great to have a fridge in the room and access to a kitchen. Pop out to the bakers nearby and get your breakfast and come back to eat it in the courtyard. Hydra is unique with no cars - lovely walks form the harbour to some beaches- not too far.

Review 12:Very near the harbour and good bars. Room was adequate with a fridge which was a bonus. Very quiet apart from the donkey in the morning but you get that everywhere on the island. Owner was really friendly and helpful. Great location if you dont want to be in the hills. Also not very many trees around so not too many mosquitos which was an issue for some of our friends higher up in the town.

Review 13:Really didn't have a view, but the quality of the pension made up for that.

Review 14:Hydra is known for its steps and this required no climbing. It is located close to the port but not so close as to have the normal harbor noise. Tucked back down a side street with beautiful rooms, the owner was most accommodating.

Review 15:Can't think of anything. On an expensive little island, we think this was great value.

Review 16:Excellent facilities and space in Room 4. Great location just 100 yards from the port, yet very little noise. Very comforatble bed ensured an excellent nights sleep despite the usual Greek cockerels crowing first thing. For Hydra this is excellent value with good facilities. Pleasant and very helpful owner. Hiughly recommended.

Review 17:It is a little noisy in the morning - dockeys are walked at around 4/5am (we stayed there in the summer period, early September) by their owners which can be fairly loud. However, we found it to be a part of the charm of the island feel and didn't find it too intrusive.

Review 18:Everything!

Review 19:Guesthouse Alexandra is beautiful, clean and quiet - it has a cool and peaceful courtyard where we enjoyed having lunch each day. Panagiotis was the perfect host - very friendly, efficient and helpful. He gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and made us feel very welcome in Hydra. Highly recommend.

Review 20:Nobody was there upon arrival of guest; towels were not changed everyday when extra guest was visiting or given extra toilet paper in time; other marble surfaces the furnishings were pretty sparse, i.e. the bare minimum was provided; and inflexibility in changing date of departure for one day and wound up paying that day even though notice was provided earlier in the week.

Review 21:Comfortable spaces and well made materials. Location was convenient.

Review 22:Ideal location, quiet, clean and quite big room. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse. Just a few steps away from the port and close to cool and classy restaurants and cafés. The owner and Violeta were really kind and helpful! We plan to come back next summer!!

Review 23:An absolute gem. Cleaning lady was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Just a great place Go there

Review 24:unsure weather breakfast was included or location to have.

Review 25:location, easy to find, very clean

Review 26:Nothing - it was what we expected.

Review 27:Excellent location, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated.

Review 28:Hard beds and no view.

Review 29:We liked the ackommodation much. Nice and helpful owner and staff. Beautiful and secluded even if in the center of Hydra town.

Review 30:Nothing

Review 31:Comfortable friendly atmosphere Our host even assisted in retrieving my bag which had been lost in Singapore.

Review 32:apart from the location the staff and owner were very welcoming and also unobtrusive coming and going as we pleased

Review 33:good access from the port-without stairs welcome in the port general kindness smile attention a house very well situeted calm simple elegant

Review 34:The Alexandra staff were great - definitely recommend!

Review 35:Loved this place, perfect for a relaxing holiday in Hydra.

Review 36:Panagiotis met us at the port and took us on the short walk to the room. The room and en-suite were very clean and as in the pictures. It is pricey but I have nothing to compare against for Hydra. It is a small town and accomodation is limited, so supply and demand dictate the price. We thoroughly enjoyed the accomodation.

Review 37:Bring your own bathroom supplies. No soap or shampoo is offered just in case you are a traveler that travels without amenities. The major disappointment is the single pane windows next to a very busy alley. The neighboring rooster will wake you up at all hours of the early morning as will the donkey. The dog on the rooftop across the street is very vocal as well. No fault of the owner but that plus a very hard bed makes it difficult to get a good nights sleep or even a good nap. This problem is an issue for the entire neighborhood so like I said this is not the fault of the owner or the hotel.

Review 38:The owner is extremely nice and curtious. Needing to wash a few items he offered to have his staff do our laundry. The rooms are simple but offer plenty of light and air from all the windows. The AC works perfect. The location is excellent and a 3 min walk from the port. If you need a place to sleep and don't want to pay crazy prices this is good. Just bring some earplugs.
