Reviews for The Manor House Hotel

Review 1:The old part of the hotel corridors were heated to sauna levels. Our room was 'tired' with a poor location and worse view over the air-conditioning units which chugged away all night. This prevented us from opening the windows. TV remote missing - reported but never found.

Review 2:Location. Common facilities such as lounge, bar, breakfast restaurant. Very good breakfast and considerate, attentive staff. Desk staff also very polite, but not always effective.

Review 3:Room a tad small. No mini fridge in the room. There was a coffee plunger in the room but no coffee to use it with? Only 4 small milks - barely enough for more than 2 drinks.

Review 4:Service was excellent, room was a tad on the small side. Would have been great if there was a mini bar or fridge in the room. Food was excellent. Venue amazing.

Review 5:No lift to the floors but actually just a minor inconvenience. We had a very strong Claudio to help, fortunately. Thank you Claudio.

Review 6:Very cozy hotel. The dining room facing the garden was beautiful. The staff were very helpful. Keep it up. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Review 7:Our standard double room was on the 2nd floor which wasn't easy for us, as the room was also quite a way from the stairs. The double room on the 1st floor is much better as we have stayed in that room before.

Review 8:Food in the brasserie was excellent. We had evening meal and breakfast.

Review 9:The room, and the bathroom in particular, were small and cramped. It was room 23 and we would not like that room again, however, I believe they tried to locate us as far away as possible from the party/disco so that we not disturbed by the noise, which worked.

Review 10:The open log fires, the cosiness, the friendly staff and the location.

Review 11:The rooms and restaurant were far too hot, the guests upstairs also being noisy and disruptive. However the staff did all they could to resolve the problem.

Review 12:Location, character, ambience and staff.

Review 13:Room was in the pitched roof with height restriction Restaurant did not acknowledge nut alergy which could have resulted in dangerous consequences

Review 14:Food Bar Outdoor space Parking Location

Review 15:Beds are so tiny as are the suites! We stayed in Room 8. Also it's impossible to have a shower if you are over 5 foot tall. Service at breakfast took well over an hour.

Review 16:The coffee bags in the room, I like strong black coffee and found that by the time they had brewed the coffee was too weak and not hot enough.

Review 17:Staff were very pleasant especially the male waiter who served us at breakfast. The room was very quaint and cosy and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Loved the molton brown toiletries. Breakfast was very nice with lovely coffee.

Review 18:The room was too small and at the end of a rabbit warren of staircases. The taps had to be turned on for 5 minutes before any water came out and it then the water stopped midway through my shower. A pump like noise above our ceiling woke me in the morning. The Breakfast tasted and looked as though it had been cooked for hours and just kept hot. All in all , a very disappointing experience.

Review 19:We had a very cosy room which was comfy, lovely molten brown toiletries to use in the bathroom. The cooked breakfast was amazing, great choice of food. Lovely open fire in the library, great for relaxing.

Review 20:The comfort and pleasant courtesy of the staff. We love the location, ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. We especially loved the library/lounge with the comfy settees and log fire. The food was excellent, delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Overall excellent.

Review 21:The hotel had a lovely smell of real fires everywhere ,the food was fantastic and the staff excellent and couldn't do enough to help us. Absolutely top draw hotel

Review 22:The wifi was quite poor which is a pain as I was there for business. The room service food was not great - it came almost cold and wasn't as good quality as the restaurant.

Review 23:The rooms were beautiful, I loved the little touches like the teddy bear on the bed and the rubber duck in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 24:We were put in a fairly small room on the first floor that is normally reserved for disabled visitors. There were no windows to the outside. Our view was a hallway. Not worth the money.

Review 25:Beautiful hotel but very expensive. The breakfast was very good.

Review 26:The rooms were dated and the bed was rock hard with no option to change. There was no shower either which was surprising.

Review 27:The food was outstanding. We had breakfast Sunday lunch and an evening meal each was absolutly delicious.

Review 28:We stayed at the room "the clink" and there was a store room for the cleaning staff just beside our room. They started opening and closing doors and chatting at 6 am. So avoid that room.

Review 29:Minor problem as gravel car park and rear entrance path to reception not ideal for wheeling heavy cases. Easily sorted once we knew by pulling car to front entrance when leaving. So an early advice prior to arrival would help newcomers.

Review 30:Excellent staff and perfect base for our stay on the Cotswolds.

Review 31:A lot of late night heavy goods vehicles passing through high street past hotel. Very noisy. Pillows a bit flat and hard.

Review 32:Excellent food, very stylish hotel. Good central location.

Review 33:Bathroom towels smell of smoke or bad chemical odour. Tables for breakfast for 4 are too small. New restaurant has far too many lights, could remove 50 % and still have plenty for room,LED lights on tracks shine directly in your eyes at dinner. Restaurant very cold. Dinner portions quite small.

Review 34:Location, beautiful building, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.

Review 35:Bedroom was only average, and facing on to a busy main road. So, not particularly great.

Review 36:Great food, excellent service and much character throughout the hotel.Avery good location and beautiful gardens.

Review 37:The 'free' wifi was non-existent!!! The guy who took our order for drinks in the bar - we didn't believe we got what we asked for as we didn't like the wine we were given but was told it was! not, 'would you like me to change it sir?'!!

Review 38:The whole of the hotel and gardens, the meals and their presentation, our room and housekeeper.

Review 39:The breakfast tables were rather small and therefore not enough room to accommodate food, plates, cups, toast rack etc. Most tables were occupied by two people and that was a struggle but we were in a four which was even worse. There was only one larger table (seated 6-8) and that was occupied. Although ideally located on the High Street it was a busy road with heavy lorries frequently passing through. Difficult to cross over!

Review 40:Breakfast was excellent with a variety of choices and quality food. Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms clean and well maintained.

Review 41:Our room was top floor, so We could not stand in the shower and it ran out of hot water- but we are both tall.

Review 42:Loved the Beagle Bar and their amazing cocktail list, several beautiful and cozy areas to relax in. Nice breakfast with amazing homemade jam:)

Review 43:we were most disappointed that as a couple of 80 year olds we were given a room on the second top up very difficult stairs and also that the room was more like an attic, with muliple 'mind your head signs', than the one described in your discription of the hotel facilities. Definitely not good value at £145/night. No sincere apology from staff.

Review 44:overall surroundings & breakfast

Review 45:Not one dislike....except quite pricey but as with everything you get what you pay for .

Review 46:We picked this hotel as it was central and wanted a hotel that typically represented the Cotswolds rather than a modern "chain" hotel and it didn't disappoint. Loved the whole experience.

Review 47:Only downside was that we were kept waiting some time in the evening for our table which was pre booked, I think due to the wedding being held that day staff focus was probably stretched.

Review 48:What a beautiful hotel, we stayed for our 5 year wedding anniversary and it was spot on the food in the restaurant is amazing !! Can't recommend enough and I will be returning.

Review 49:Slight noise from main road, 2nd room we stayed in was quite study. Breakfast could have had more fresh fruit options.

Review 50:Beautiful, luxurious junior suite, excellent helpful staff, lovely grounds, great bar

Review 51:room small made very claustrophobic by unsuitable furnishings. Very noisy fan outside our room. the molten brown toiletries were unhygenically used for repeated customers

Review 52:the staff very friendly lovely garden excellent breakfast

Review 53:Generally telephone signals are poor in the area. The hotel free WIFI was difficult and fiddly to set up and maintain.

Review 54:Hotel location and grounds were first class. Very relaxing and quiet

Review 55:Did not have the whaw factor as some other hotels in the area and within the same chain

Review 56:Good breakfast I a nice dinning room overlooking a fine garden and church

Review 57:Nothing to criticise apart from the gravel on the car park and paths made it difficult to move luggage.

Review 58:Well located in the town. Our room was at the back so pretty quiet. There was a lift and very nice gardens.

Review 59:THE ROOM WAS NEAR THE ROAD AND IT WAS VERY NOISY FOR A GOOD PART OF THE NIGHT AND VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING.

Review 60:EVERYTHING OTHER THAN THE NOISE WAS VERY GOOD.

Review 61:The hot tap in the washbasin produced very little water, but it was fixed promptly when we mentioned it.

Review 62:The extensive gardens with ample and varied seating

Review 63:Although we didn't expect the best room in the hotel, it was too hot (we left the window opened but it looked over the village main street and there was some noise). The bedspread was a little bit dirty.

Review 64:The house and garden are beautiful. The food delicious!

Review 65:there was nothing to dislike

Review 66:All the staff were friendly, courteous, efficient and professional. The food and service in the Mulberry Restaurant were exceptional

Review 67:There was nothing to dislike

Review 68:Very friendly welcome, all the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is beautiful and full of character. The food was amazing.

Review 69:A traditional hotel with up to date amenities. The garden and outdoor facilities were an especial delight and in the sunshine we relaxed and enjoyed the quiet surroundings.

Review 70:Our room was ridiculously small with scarcely space to walk around the bed. There was only one chair in a room intended for two people If there had been a second one, there would have been nowhere to put it.

Review 71:The location of the hotel, the beautiful gardens and the brasserie restaurant. And the staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Review 72:The bar and restaurant staff were uppity. It was warm for us so we missed air conditioning.

Review 73:The grounds are beautiful. Many interesting photo opportunities.

Review 74:The bedroom was disappointing - small and nowhere to sit also TV seemed to be on the wrong wall and didn't move. For a four star hotel the room was very basic and very expensive.

Review 75:We liked the hotel especially the log fires in the lounges. Very efficient staff.

Review 76:Stairs to certain rooms had to be taken with great care, understandably because of the age of the building some stairs were uneven and a bit narrow, maybe more warning signs needed as my daughter managed to fall twice on the stairs leading to my room. Also some low beams about,so lofty people beware.Shower stopped halfway through.Restarted minute later.

Review 77:The communal areas such as wedding rooms bar, gardens, breakfast room, library, reception, were all very nice.Rooms were nicey furnished, bed was nice.

Review 78:We had a problem with the water pressure in the evening so showering was tricky. Was fine in the morning though.

Review 79:Staff we lovely, setting was beautiful, food was fab.

Review 80:We asked for some heating to be put on in our room, on several occasions and unfortunately it never happened. We asked for a twin room, I was travelling with my mum. The bedroom did have twin beds but they were pushed together like a double and couldn't be moved as the room was quite small, We had an evening meal in the Brasserie and I asked for sardines to start. I was served ONE filleted sardine on a small spoonful of onion relish. It was gone in one mouthful. My mum ordered goat's cheese and beetroot salad which were very small cubes of hard goats cheese and raw beetroot thrown over a few lambs lettuce leaves. I then had a steak with peppercorn sauce, the steak was nice but the sauce hadn't seen many peppercorns, if any. My mum's battered fish was soggy and the chips were burnt. a very disappointing meal. Breakfast the next morning wasn't much better. Not a very good selection of fresh fruit and our toast was burnt.

Review 81:The staff were very friendly on reception and as we booked in and out. The actual downstairs of the hotel was very nice especially the conservatory.

Review 82:Comfortable sunny room. Excellent food beautifully presented. Friendly efficient staff. Lovely garden - peaceful & well cared for. Large car park at rear of hotel.

Review 83:Elegant yet cosy hotel in lovely village location. Very friendly welcome from staff on arrival. Advised to book restaurant for evening meal and we were given a lovely table over looking the hotels beautiful gardens. Our room was cosy which we knew before booking but again over looked gardens. Bathroom full of Molton Brown toiletries!

Review 84:The restaurant looked lovely but on our first night had a very poor meal and didn't eat there again. Breakfast was quite good though.

Review 85:Hotel had a nice atmosphere and was a great location to get to nearby Cotswold villages.

Review 86:Floor boards a bit lose so the furniture shook every time we walked around the room. Cooked breakfast portions rather small.

Review 87:Lovely setting and gardens. Luxury bath products a bonus. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 88:No lifts; the car park was a long way from reception; breakfast was so slow to be served my husband had to request a warm poached egg as his was stone cold; my toast came when the meal was finished; some bedrooms are a long and convoluted distance from reception.

Review 89:Variety of seating in and around the hotel. The outdoor space. The rooms were warm as was the water for baths and showers.

Review 90:Wifi was full of ads, better if it was free and free of promotions

Review 91:the staff, facilities and overall service meant we did not have to literally leave the hotel.

Review 92:Room is beautiful. The heater seems doesn't work in our room but the kindly staff provided a big, warm & fluffy quilt, that's a wonderful nigh!

Review 93:It said that wifi didn't need a password but I couldn't get it to work. To be fair, I didn't ask for help because I was too busy enjoying myself at a wedding

Review 94:Comfortable bed!

Review 95:Lovely old building well looked after, wonderful athmosphere. All what needed was there, especially lovely bath after long journey. A free wifi in rooms is a distinctive advantage. Very satisfied with my choice and will stay again.

Review 96:The only downside to our weekend here was that we couldn't stay for longer

Review 97:We came here for our anniversary weekend, from the moment we walked through the doors we fell in love with with the place. The staff were really friendly, the room was beautiful, in fact everything was perfect. We ate in the restaurant and the food was outstanding. We will definatly be staying again.

Review 98:Nothing to mention

Review 99:Lovely old style building ..room was small but very comfortable ...all of the staff that I met were very friendly and helpful ..the food was excellent

Review 100:Wonderful hotel, one of the best we have stayed in the UK. Every thing was English luxury at it's best. The room was beautiful and finished to a very high standard. The level of service was first class. The food was outstanding. A true gem in a wonderful part of the world.

Review 101:Nothing!!

Review 102:This is everything you'd expect from a Cotswold hotel. The staff were extremely pleasant and professional. The public rooms cost yet luxurious and the bedroom very, very pretty. The restaurants are stylish and although we didn't have our evening meal there, the breakfasts were delicious with a rather large menu.

Review 103:I didn't manage to connect to the internet although my husband did - seemed a bit hit and miss. Also there was zero phone signal across several networks.

Review 104:The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were staying in the hotel for a wedding there and the service, particularly during the meal was excellent - they already knew about special dietary requirements, remembered what you were drinking and the food was very good.

Review 105:We were forced to move rooms, in our pajamas, at 10pm when we discovered our mattress was totally unacceptable - coil springs broken and protruding, mattress dirty and worse than one would expect in a cheap motel in a third world country. Totally inexcusable.

Review 106:Problems with the Wi Fi I understand being a very old building that the walls are very thick but the wi fi and phone signal were intermittent.

Review 107:The food in the bar and the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was great and every meal I did not feel rushed. Staff are excellent and can not do enough for you.

Review 108:The noise,04:00 in the morning people laughing quite loud. Wasn't warned there was a wedding. Was quite tired come morning. Breakfast was rushed but was yummy!!

Review 109:The Room and hotel, loved it's quirkiness. The food was fab & cocktails. Very clean room. The facilities were second to none. Fab location.

Review 110:traffic noise, hot rooms, dangerous and badly lit stairs and steps, on last night a disastrous dinner with 40 min wait for first course!

Review 111:bathroom, breakfast

Review 112:Great hotel in a lovely location staff were very helpful with smiley faces which makes you feel special. The food was amazing the staff in the restaurant were very well trained and looked after our every need even though they had run out of a particular wine they gave me another wine that was more expensive but for the same value as the one I had chose. A big thank you to all for a well needed break. We also bought a Huggie Bear he is lovely and will be well looked after in his new home in Watford! He will probably wonder what has happened to him from room 22 peaceful and quite to ......

Review 113:Room number 3, size ridiculously small, no comfortable seating, should be a single not a double! Mind your head on the television!

Review 114:Location, old world charm, breakfast, cleanliness.

Review 115:Nothing

Review 116:Beautiful throughout from it's charming bedrooms, comfortable sitting areas/library, and conservatory where we were served a delicious breakfast. You must buy their own marmalade. Unfortunately we were only there for one night because I would have loved to had time to go through each and every cocktail on the menu. They were so individual and each sounded delicious.

Review 117:We opted for 4 course meal/ Fine dining. We felt this was overpriced for what we got and regretted not going to The Brasserie

Review 118:Room was at the back and quiet. We had requested this. Staff were very helpful.Comfortable bed and excellent shower.

Review 119:I would have liked a bigger room with a few but that is something I could have requested earlier when booking.

Review 120:As a solo traveller who has to travel to different locations for my work I have stayed in some hotels which do not seem to give the same amount of care and attention to single diners. The waiting staff at breakfast was most curtious and helpful. The other staff members were also very helpful too. My stay at the hotel was most comfortable and enjoyable. I have stayed with you on a few occasions now and will do so again when I am in the area.

Review 121:The toilet took 10 minutes to refill after flushing. There was no proper shower over the bath, just a hand held shower that was part of the tap, no shower curtain or screen. For the price would have liked a shower.

Review 122:Fantastic location, bar and restaurant were wonderful and breakfasts superb

Review 123:Room at top of hotel a long walk and many stairs from reception. Nice room but rather tired paintwork and stained carpet rather typical of the result of a busy wedding venue. Dining room a bit characterless, small round tables good, but we felt as if we were at a business meeting at a square table and too close to neighbours ( they were business colleagues) but it was our wedding anniversary!

Review 124:Very good food and pleasant knowledgeable staff, just a suggestion though, we don't need to be told where every last carrot was grown.

Review 125:We struggled with internet access which was so difficult we gave up

Review 126:The Bar The way the staff knew who we were Excellent food and service Molton Brown in bathroom Delightful room The outdoor setting looked wonderful - will go back in the summer to fully enjoy

Review 127:Evening snack meal of Welsh rarebit - the only rare bit was the cheese. Drinks pricy.

Review 128:Staff were absolutely brilliant. A good set meal for a party of 36. Excellent breakfast.

Review 129:With an unfortunate bad weather and without a car, I could not enjoy seeing around at Moreton in Marsh.

Review 130:Gardens, restaurants, bathroom and staff of the hotel were all very nice.

Review 131:Can not complain about anything from this hotel

Review 132:Can't rate this hotel high enough, staff we're so helpful and polite, rooms and beds we're super comfortable and the food was impeccable! Was there for business purposes but would return for a holiday!

Review 133:Because my eyesight is not 100% I do not like the dark carpet on the staircase. Practical...yes but not ideal.

Review 134:Personally I love the welcoming log fire, the Molton Brown toiletries ( I have since become addicted) the delicious dinner and the Teddy bear.

Review 135:Noise at night from main road.

Review 136:Amazingly cheerful, helpful and energetic staff. Charmingly renovated old building. Attractive common areas and beautiful gardens. Comfortable, well-appointed (but small) rooms. Great restaurants.
