Reviews for Nereids Guesthouse

Review 1:I think it was a little expensive for just a single room.

Review 2:Beautiful and comfortable room. Great view. The rooms felt secluded even though there were several in the area. We were greeted very nicely by the manager and he dealt with our checkin while we relaxed in the room. He also let us check in early since our ferry landed earlier than the check in time. Very appreciated! Also gave us some good recommendations of what to do in the area.

Review 3:The guesthouse can be a little difficult to find at night (at least the first time). There are signs, but they're not always easy to spot. Look for the signs high up on the wall on the first street leading out from the ferry dock.

Review 4:Lovely guesthouse located on a quiet street about a 5-minute walk from the port. The owners were very friendly and kindly shifted my booking dates when my travel plans changed. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was a small fridge and kettle, which made it easy to make a simple breakfast or snack. All in all, I had a lovely stay and it was good value for money.

Review 5:I was disappointed that I'd asked specifically whether tea and coffee were provided and, despite being reassured in a very blunt email that they were provided in every room, they were not there on our arrival. There was not a duvet cover either and the candles were all burnt down to their base. However, some instant coffee in a teacup and tea bags were given to us on our second day. Kostas was also rather blunt in his emails before we arrived.

Review 6:The building was lovely and the views were gorgeous. It was a simple but pretty room.

Review 7:The staff and location of this beautiful property are equally delightful. The hotel is a short walk to the pier. Our room overlooked a shared patio with windows having a view of the beautiful mountain.

Review 8:Quiet location, yet only a short walk to shops and restaurants. Our room had a good view of town and the sea. Helpful staff. Large room and nice outside seating areas.

Review 9:Just close firmly all the windows before you go to bed, if you do not want to wake up early in the morning because of a couple of roosters nearby. If you do not have a problem with it and you can sleep again if you wake up, then do not hesitate to go for this guesthouse.

Review 10:At night the rural sounds were a bit annoying - roosters crowing, donkeys heehawing, horses neighing. Maybe I'm just a city dweller! Still better than the noise of cafés and restaurants

Review 11:Not right in the hustle and bustle of town but only a short walk or an even shorter donkey ride ($?). Delightful stone cottage. Great owner and staff. VERY HELPFUL

Review 12:Stunning guest house with magnificent view of the port and mountains. Our room was lovely. Although no private balcony / patio there was a perfect little seating area outside with views of the port / sea in the distance. The owner is a very helpful man who an give good recommendations for restaurants and is available at the property for any help or advice you might need.

Review 13:The only negative we had was the Cockerell on the hill behind woke us very early and went on for hours! Not the fault of Nereids in anyway!!

Review 14:Nereids is such a beautiful place to stay and is very handy for getting to the main harbour. The rooms are beautifully presented.

Review 15:Nothing to complain, everything excellent.

Review 16:Got the room with the sea view. Amazing! lovely place, recently refurbished, with nice small terraces with chairs for relaxing, in a quiet area of the city (no people noise during the night at all), very helpful staff. Ask for being collected at the port by the porter, the way up to the guesthouse would have been difficult otherwise.

Review 17:Not so many steps on the way, but just a bit far from the harbour.

Review 18:Beautiful room and house; I loved all the terraces you could stay out on. Friendly owner; thank you for sending someone to pick us up from the harbour, it helped a lot!

Review 19:Everything was beautiful

Review 20:Close proximity to town centre, amazing view, quiet surroundings, hospitable owners, beautifully presented guest house - a wonderful stay - we would recommend it to everyone

Review 21:It is supposed to be 300 metres from the harbour but it is certainly further than that. A bit inconvenient if you want to return to your room during the day.

Review 22:Beautifully decorated, nice large room with sea views, very quiet being away from the harbour, and comfortably furnished.

Review 23:we absolutely loved our stay on Hydra. It's such an amazing island. We loved the food and the atmosphere. Our experience at nereids was great. They are amazing rooms with a beautiful view.

Review 24:Stairs to our room at night were dark.

Review 25:Quiet location 300m from the hustle and bustle of the port. Room was very clean and comfortable with sea or mountain views. Wifi worked well. Small bathroom.

Review 26:The room was lovely and clean and the bathroom had their own toiletries, not necessarily a requirement but a nice 'bonus'. The walls are extremely thick and so very quiet. The early morning calls by the local bird community including the cockerels, might annoy some but enjoyed by us. A bit of a hike up to the hotel if you have heavy luggage but the donkeys came to our rescue and down hill no problem at all.

Review 27:Tiny bathroom.

Review 28:The house has been lovingly restored 9 years ago and is kept by Panos and Spiros in a very good shape. The room at the top level of Nereids was spacious, with a great view of the town of Hydra and the see beyond. There are plenty of terraces around, where one can have a drink, read of simply doze off.

Review 29:Loved every moment. Hydra is such a special island, so tranquil and unique. I just loved being there absorbing every special moment. It's charm and friendly inhabitants make it all magical!

Review 30:Not one thing!

Review 31:Wonderful place located above town. Very accessible by donkey! They met us at the ferry and tied our luggage to the donkey - I even rode one. Small, narrow streets up to our room. The view from our room was very nice. We could see the water and also look out over the town. Watched the donkeys, roosters, dogs, kids, etc., and also listened to the church bells ringing on Sunday! Very pleasant experience. Laid back.

Review 32:Being a guesthouse and not a hotel there was no breakfast and the owner was not immediately on hand to pay for the room.

Review 33:Well apportioned rooms, clean, tidy; good sized bathroom. Location not too far from port and not uphill. Very quiet location.

Review 34:I would prefer breakfast included

Review 35:The guest house is located in a quiet area 5 min walking from the port. The room is big enough and comfortable. Facilities are satisfactory

Review 36:Short walk up hill from the port (it looks like more on the map, but it's only 2-3 min). Really pretty property. Good bed, nice bathroom, helpful staff. Love Hydra!

Review 37:Wifi a bit unreliable. Bath towels needed conditioner and therefore rather rough.

Review 38:Great location, an easy walk to the port, sea view, outside areas and the delicious quietness of this no car island..

Review 39:That we had to leave after only two nights...

Review 40:Our room was just right for two friends. 2 single beds, enough space for our own areas, and a good sized bathroom. The view of Hydra and the port were fantastic!

Review 41:Very easy welcome and checkin. The place is fantastic located in a quiet street. Even though the shower seemed to have a slight leak, This was probably the best accommodation on our trip. Relaxing on the sundeck after walking around during the day was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this place.

Review 42:Nothing really. If you must have wifi then you may get a teeny bit frustrated but enough signal for the small amount we needed, the place and people made up for this.

Review 43:Everything was amazing Con and his family were beautiful. The room and the views were spectacular. Would love to stay forever. Thank you from the depths of our heart for your hospitality and allowing us to share your home of Hydra.

Review 44:I would have liked the price to include breakfast. We did get our 20% off at Isalos, which had great breakfast options. But I would have liked that breakfast to be included. Everything was PERFECT!

Review 45:We did pay extra for the view, and even though we didn't want to keep the windows open for our stay because it was so cold, we greatly appreciated waking up to a view of mountains from one window and sea from the other. I highly recommend it!

Review 46:There was confusion with the access to the television. We were given basic channels, but booking com said we would have many different channels and wifi was inconsistent... only worked in certain parts of the room.

Review 47:Very close to the harbor, affordable, and friendly staff, and residents.

Review 48:The only thing we missed was the Wi-fi in the room - we had to use the Wi-fi in the office room.

Review 49:The room was very spacious and with nice furniture - we appreciated very much the boiler in the room!

Review 50:Shower curtain slightly moldy

Review 51:Quiet location at the edge of town. Taverna next to the rooms Extra fob in order for the A/C to work during our absence

Review 52:Bed hard and bouncy at the same time?

Review 53:Beautiful room ( sea view) that had a terrace just outside the door with a gorgeous view of Hydra and the Mediterranean. Costas recommended eating breakfast at Isolas where we got a great breakfast with hotel discount. I'd stay here again!

Review 54:There are many steps to almost all rooms so it is not suitable for elderly or disabled people. Our room had perfect view but not all rooms have such a view. And the bed was from iron and it is a bit squeaky. The wifi was a bit weak at our room.

Review 55:We liked everything about this hotel! Location was very nice not far from the port but far enough to obtain privacy. Our room was very nice with a magnificent view of the mountain and tha sea together. The rooms had excellent decor and were really cosy. Everything was perfect. Good value for money if i go to Hydra again i will certainly choose the same hotel!

Review 56:The owner was very friendly and also helpful in guiding us around the island. On arrival, he gave us an island guide along with suggestions of what to visit. The owner was also very flexible and allowed us to move to a room with a better view.

Review 57:Wifi does not work in all rooms; the management understands this but this is not acknowledged in the property's description.

Review 58:Great views, excellent condition, very clean.

Review 59:Would have given a 10 if there had been coffee and tea to go with the kettle

Review 60:Wonderful welcome by the owner Great room Good view of the sea from the balcony area

Review 61:The bed was a bit hard for me, but my girlfriend & her parents thought it was perfect!

Review 62:The setting was incredible and the owner met us on the way up to help with our bags, he must have known the ferry schedule and come looking for us. His best friend works at Isalos Cafe on the harbor and he took incredible care of us our whole stay, even stored our bags the entire day while we explored the island and waited for the ferry!

Review 63:Walk up from harbor very doable. A number of terraces allow for socializing or privacy. Owner directs you to a harbor cafe for breakfast, with discount. The full Greek breakfast for 2 was excellent.

Review 64:Wifi didn't work, but we did not care much about it - it is anyways better to have a walk on the island than stay inside :)

Review 65:We had a really good stay in the guesthouse. It was all as promised on photos and reviews.

Review 66:Wifi was a bit unreliable, and the pillows were a bit hard.

Review 67:New, nice and clean altogether, well appointed, beautiful view, several nice seating areas and terraces outside, very helpful owners.

Review 68:A lot of steep steps to climb

Review 69:Wonderful view from high above the town overlooking the harbour. Lovely spacious and airy room. Friendly and helpful owner/manager

Review 70:Wifi was spotty in our room.

Review 71:Clean, comfortable room in a beautiful guesthouse. Patio outside room had views of the hills and sea. It's a 10-minute walk from the harbor, away from the bustle of the town center, and there's no hill to climb.

Review 72:Location from port. Lots of closer options but price makes it worth it.

Review 73:Room size and bathroom. Interior was neat with the stone. Nice owner. Helpful.

Review 74:Nothing not to like!

Review 75:Beautiful room in traditionally restored building, tastefully decorated with lovely views of the sea and countryside. Attractive seating areas outside with views and shade. Friendly and attentive owners with useful local knowledge.

Review 76:Not that we didn't like it as it certainly added charm to the stay (!) but the church bells ring at 7am and then 8am every morning very loudly (like a whole village alarm clock kind of set up!!) and you will be woken up by the local roosters crowing in the early hours. The local school is also nearby so you'll hear the kids in the playground. You soon get used to it though and if you like to get up early it won't bother you. Not an issue if you close the windows however we liked to have ours open at night rather than use A/C. There are a lot of stairs up to the rooms - not an issue for us but might be for others with poor mobility.

Review 77:Fantastic views from our room, towels changed every other day. Kettle and fridge in room plus hair drier in the bathroom. Korres toiletries. Kept immaculately clean. Lovely terraces so you can sit and have breakfast in the mornings. very short and lovely walk from the harbour up to Nereid's. Everything looks as in the pictures.

Review 78:Lovely local architecture, very friendly owners, quiet room, nice view from the window overlooking the village, facilities for coffee/tea, little candles in the room, a perfect hideaway, I feld like home

Review 79:Lots of cats and dogs on the island. Sometimes they bark all hours. Can be hard to walk up steep steps if your room is at the top.

Review 80:On the top of the town of Hydra this guest house is quiet and has an excellent view. It is away from the touristy part of Hydra and convenient enough to eat at the cafe and grocery store down the street. We love the convenience of hiking and sunbathing within 10 minutes of walk to the harbor. Many ferries at the harbor. The island of Hydra is so colorful and has a serene and comfortable atmosphere. Be careful don't run into donkeys. The lodging is very clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. Love the cross breeze from the windows. Costa is so helpful and hospitable. Be sure to visit the town of Kamini with the gorgeous sunsets and old fishing harbor!

Review 81:Going home ! I really can't think of anything to criticise with this guest house. It was as described on their website and a really charming place. We'll definitely be going back.

Review 82:Lovely location set back from the bustle of the harbour/town. The only noises were those of cats fighting, mules braying and cocks crowing ! Our room had a fab view down to the harbour and was spacious, clean and comfortable. Telly, fridge & kettle provided for the all-important cuppa ! Nice en suite. Veranda where we ate our breakfasts. Visiting cat Zeus was a bonus !

Review 83:Very noisy in the morning. Barking dogs. Hot water not switched on the first morning.

Review 84:Lovely room with good facilities. Being met by a porter at the ferry. Easy walk from the port. Bottled water supplied. Lovely terraces for relaxing. Good internet.

Review 85:Noise from the nearby school and parking of litter trucks next to it (yes! there are veichles in Hydra!) Wifi doesn't work or has very weak signal inside the rooms, althought reception is good on public terraces.

Review 86:Rooms are brand new and very clean, althought there are big differences between rooms on top floors (best: room 3 & 4) and lower rooms in terms of view and privacy. The staff is super friendly! Great value for money

Review 87:Nothing significant.

Review 88:Nereids is situated in a quiet location a short walk from the harbour. It is clean and comfortable with terraces with tables, chairs and sunshades where you can sit ouside.

Review 89:Sometimes internet didn't work but I can't complain because of all the other amazing things.

Review 90:The room was spacious, quite lovely and very clean.

Review 91:The room decor, the views from the room, the outdoor patios, and the service all make this one of the best places we have stayed in any country.

Review 92:Very helpful staff! The room was great, with patios and a view.

Review 93:Very clean; comfortable. Staff was friendly,

Review 94:Hydra is a beautiful island and the accommodation and hospitality at nereids made for a perfect couple of days.

Review 104:The location, a bit away from the center of town, was ideal since it was quieter and had easy access to hiking trails.

Review 105:Stairs to room and long walk to property Small bathroom No balcony

Review 106:Nice room and view from windows

Review 107:the noise of the bed

Review 108:very good ,very good location next to nature very quite, very clean.

Review 116:The owner Mr Kosta is very helpfull and friendly.

Review 117:Nothing

Review 118:The room was as good as the photo. Kostas went out of his way to help. Just brilliant!

Review 119:For summer for sure it is perfect, but we were in December so it was a bit cold in the rooms.

Review 120:Location, view from terasse, stone walls, atmospere

Review 121:Loved the guesthouse and would definitely stay there again!
