Reviews for The Northey Arms

Review 1:It is so nice to visit somewhere where you feel completely at home, despite being low season the second week after Xmas the staff couldn't not have been more enthusiastic and helpful, an added bonus is the couple of guys at the end of the car park doing a car washing service, my car was filthy I went for a snooze after a long drive and came out to a spotlessly clean car all for £5

Review 2:Noise is a issue. the front of the pub is directly onto the A4, the rear is subject to some noise from the railway. Issue with very poorly maintained bathroom, which staff responded to appropriately

Review 3:Good location for Bath, easy parking and good wifi. Staff responsive to problems

Review 4:Staff are very helpful and pleasant at the Northey Arms. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. We had dinner in the restaurant which was also very nice.

Review 5:Small room . Lots of road noise . Booked a meal and given a table in the bar next to the coffee machine.paid full price not on a deal not worth it

Review 6:Very good food . Very clean rooms

Review 7:The TV didn't work during our stay and the high damp levels/poor ventilation need to be addressed though nothing that prevented us from enjoying our stay.

Review 8:The convenience of location and welcome given by Mike during our stay. A lovely well cooked breakfast.

Review 9:Breakfast started at 8.00 am, and my meeting was at 8.00 so did not have any breakfast. If you want business customers you must start breakfast at 7.00 am. Also my room was just above some kind of generator unit which switched on and off through the night.

Review 10:Nice place to stay, excellent rooms, and a great place to eat in the pub. Very easily located on the Bath to Box road.

Review 11:Breakfast, more selection of fresh fruit to have with yoghurt and would prefer plain yoghurt not with jam, also didn't have semi skimmed milk.

Review 12:Very nice bedroom, large bathroom.

Review 13:The rooms are incredibly noisy. The pub is right on the A4 London to Bath road which is very busy. Even the "quiet" rooms in the annexe are next to the railway line. Don't choose this place if noise bothers you - our central London home is quieter!

Review 14:Very friendly staff. Comfortable and well equipped room with lovely bathroom. Good food

Review 15:The pillows on the bed aren't the best and for some strange reason you're not allowed to eat food in your room!

Review 16:The food is outstanding, the room was lovely, the staff were excellent

Review 17:Nothing bad.

Review 18:First class stay. Very comfortable bed, beautiful modern bathroom and every modern comfort considered. Particularly liked the swanky coffee/tea pod machine in the room.

Review 19:The room was really lovely. Spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a balcony terrace. The bathroom was amazing, as you will see from the pictures. The staff were also great - really friendly and gave some good tips on getting to/from Bath. If you are visiting Bath, it is a 10-15 minute drive from the hotel - a taxi will cost £13-15. I didn't try the food but it looked excellent.

Review 20:I would recommend asking for a room which does not over look the road. But the rooms are outstanding in quality of sheets and comfort.

Review 21:The restaurant is worth a visit in its own right. Exceptional food served by very good staff. Very good atmosphere and enjoyed by all.

Review 22:Very loud with traffic coming through on main road and room was very small.

Review 23:Nice clean room, bathroom was lovely! Staff all very helpful and friendly, overall a pleasant stay.

Review 24:Could have been a little cheaper for b&b as other hotels charging the same offer smart leisure type facilities.

Review 25:The intimacy of a smaller hotel with friendly staff and excellent food.

Review 26:Had to ask for refill of juice, more butter, and even marmalade at breakfast.

Review 27:Lovely rooms, friendly staff. It's on a main road, but the rooms we had were at the back so it was quiet.

Review 28:The whole package was just right. A lovely period building, tastefully finished, excellent quality room and bathroom and very welcoming and helpful staff.

Review 29:Just a shame this lovely room is right on the road. Very noisy even with secondary glazing. Double decker bus could look straight into the room.

Review 30:Very clean and well appointmeted rooms and restaurant. Wonderful bathroom in the superior room with bath and shower. Food excellent as were staff and service.

Review 31:Unfortunately the shower didn't work properly on the second night, but that can happen anywhere, and I am sure it would be fixed before the next people came to stay in the room.

Review 32:Very friendly and helpful staff, but best of all they smiled and made you feel welcome.

Review 33:Unfortunately the busy main road location meant that we couldn't sleep with the window open. The fan provided in the room was also very noisy, so it took a fair amount of alcohol to get us off to sleep!

Review 34:Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Our room was superbly appointed and very comfortable. The evening meal was superb!

Review 35:Nothing we didn't like.

Review 36:Our stay was excellent. The room and bathroom was stylish and fresh. Breakfast was individual and excellent. Parking was ample. The bar and restaurant had a nice ambience.

Review 37:the tv was not working for all the stay. though they did try several times to get it going. we were in one of the best rooms, so should possibly have been offered a room change.

Review 38:beautiful food. very modern bathroom. bus stop into Bath immediately outside.(brilliant for us oldies with a bus pass)

Review 39:The bathroom in bedroom 2 was fantastic. The overall experience was equally good. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was really welcoming. Its taken an old coaching inn type of small hotel into a rural funky boutique pub/small hotel.

Review 40:The staff were friendly and very helpful. Bed very comfortable and very clean. Food excellent. We had Room 1, rear of hotel, very quiet with balcony. Rooms at front get road noise. Bus stop right outside.

Review 41:We had one of the two rooms on the front, adjacent to a fast stretch the very busy A4. Although the bedroom window was to the side and secondary glazed, the bathroom window faced onto the road, and the noise was intrusive. This meant there was no possibility of having a window open at night, so the room became stuffy & oppressive, even though it was not very warm weather.

Review 42:The food. The luxury bathroom. The convenient location for Bath - bus service from right outside the door.

Review 43:Need more choice for breakfast

Review 44:The location is good, the rooms are comfortable and staff friendly. Also not to far away from Bath plus there is a bus stop just outside The Northey Arms.

Review 45:Road noise a bit of shame and a little way out of Box but great access for Bath - take the bus as parking is a nightmare in Bath!

Review 46:The staff were excellent, bedroom and bathroom fantastic, food great.

Review 47:No lock on bathroom door. Only one bath robe. Drinks a little expensive

Review 48:Deep bath was fab Open fire in bar area very comfortable. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Near historic bath.

Review 49:The only negative, which is extremely minor, is we didn't get served toast to go with our cooked breakfast. A very small thing, however, what is a cooked breakfast without toast!

Review 50:The Northey Arms was by far one of the best B&Bs I have stayed in. The room was beautiful and clean, the furnishings and little touches were amazing, as were the staff. We booked a table in the downstairs restaurant/bar and the food was outstanding. Would highly recommend.

Review 51:Really can t think of anything

Review 52:The staff were so attentive . Boutique style accomodation . We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and it was faultless .

Review 53:Nothing

Review 54:Just outside bath great for a stopover on are way to dorset. Really comfortable room and bed was excellent. Breakfast next day was great and with good portion would stay again if down that way.

Review 55:A little noisy being so close to the road. Also in the morning a real pong of rotten eggs in the downstairs bar area as we came down for breakfast. Apparently it was the dishwasher being cleaned!

Review 56:Fabulous bathroom - almost the size of the bedroom with large rain shower and separate bath. Very nice room, beautifully presented, with great coffee machine in the room and a vey comfy bed.

Review 57:The food was good but fellow guest were drunk and kept us up for a good part of the night it ended up with the police taking them away from the premises

Review 58:There was no airconditioning in the room so it was unbearably hot as we went the last week of August and it was a hot weekend.

Review 59:The room and bathroom was big and so lovely.

Review 60:BOX is a good 20 minute drive out of Bath city center, which is not ideal for a bath city getaway. The Northey Arms charges a large sum of money for a very standard room and the location of The Northey is right next to a very busy main road. I spent the entire night overly hot and hearing lorries and cars drive by on a fast and busy road. I would not recommend staying the night.

Review 61:The breakfast was satisfactory and the entire place was very clean.

Review 62:Service was fair but could have been better in terms of customer service. The manager appeared grumpy and stressed. The cleaning lady was the friendliest member of staff we met. In addition the exterior of the pub was pretty scruffy; some weeding wouldn't go amiss.

Review 63:Bathroom was modern and clean. Room was ok.

Review 64:Breakfast not served until 8am and slow. Fine if on holiday trip and you want a cooked breakfast but limited choice otherwise - no pastries. Not good if on business. Restaurant service very variable, seemed to be no interest in up-selling. Compressor cutting in and out all night so had to keep bedroom window shut. Bathroom lights kept turning off whilst in the shower but otherwise good shower. Not sure about previously used bathrobes, even if they were washed.

Review 65:Comfortable room and facilities Food and bar good Plenty of parking

Review 66:What did I like? Everything. The room was perfect, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was some of the best me and my girlfriend have ever had. So good that we have just booked to revisit....

Review 67:Couldn't have the window open as large noisy party of people in garden Was very hot but no fan which would have been useful

Review 68:Decor of room and lovely big bathroom

Review 69:Unable to leave window open due to road noise. May be better if staying longer than a night to ask for bedroom at back. One of gents serving breakfast wasn't the friendliest.

Review 70:Bathroom

Review 83:Not able to get wi fi in our room

Review 84:Location

Review 85:The atmosphere combined with the friendly staff. Also the Food was very good! Good choice for the future also.

Review 86:No key for balcony door even though this feature added to the price of the room.

Review 87:Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 88:Friendly staff, great food and lovely room, would go back

Review 89:the road noise.

Review 90:stayed in room number 4. the bathroom was excellent big bath and shower. breakfast was nice and so was was the dinner.
