Reviews for Hôtel Riva Bella 4 * by Thalazur

Review 1:The price of the breakfast at 16 euros appeared dear so we didn't have this

Review 2:Restful location, backing onto a sandy beach in a small town. Soothing Spa - the pool is 1,4m of warm salt water. Steam room & sauna also open from 9am -8pm & for residents. Clean & restful decor. Convenient restaurant for dinner - the dishes interesting & tasty, service good, price acceptable - Proximity of Avenue de la Mer which has little eateries & several food specialist shops - there is a delicateson type shop called Comptoir des Normandies. Proximity to port - at about a km it is walking distance.

Review 3:On arrival the it would have been good to enjoy the spa area too, but it was open only until 6pm, which did not give us enough time to settle in and enjoy the facilities. The Spa area, was very busy when we went in at 10am the day after arrival. No milk for the tea in the rooms.

Review 4:Quiet room, even though we were in a room near to reception. The Spa was great, just too busy. The food was excellent, however could do with more vegetarian choices.

Review 5:The hotel was more suited for rather old people who are looking for a spa experience. Not really suitable for couples with young children. We were the only couple with a child. Not hotel's fault of course. That's just the way it is.

Review 6:We have a 1 year old son and we asked for a cot in the room. Not only the cot but also a plastic separate bath tub and baby food warmer was placed in the room. Couldn't ask for more really. Top notch. We had dinner one night in the hotel after having a horrible experience outside and that turned out to be a great decision.

Review 7:Shame the bar closed a little early in the evenings. Payment was mistakenly taken from my UK credit card ,which I used to secure the booking, whilst I intended to pay in Euros. But staff tried very hard to help.

Review 8:Near to Ferry terminal. Great breakfast. Lovely pool. Staff very pleasant and when a problem about mode of paying arose they were quick to make amends.

Review 9:Spa hours were too limited; whirlpool was barely lukewarm (too cold to stay in for long); sauna was poorly maintained.

Review 10:Professional, friendly, helpful staff. Nice view of beach from room (for extra fee). Large indoor saltwater pool. Bar with outdoor beach-side seating. Small frig in room.

Review 11:A mistake was made with our booking but they upgraded us to compensate. Well done Hotel Riva Bella. Would definitely stay again

Review 12:Wonderful location. Lovely to be so close to the sea and port. Loads to do and see in this area. Had a fantastic trip to Honfleur- promised myself many years ago and was not disappointed .

Review 13:The staff were extremely helpful & we were lucky that they were able to sort an earlier check in time for us on the day of our stay. We can highly recommend the child friendliness of the hotel. We asked for a travel cot - the hotel provided a lovely travel cot with all the bedding including a little duvet, it came with a change mat on top, they also provided a baby bath and a bottle warmer! The spa pools are amazing and the therapeutic massage jets are great! Again, child friendly with foam mats and noodles etc for the pool. Lovely bar area with reasonably priced drinks and meals. Great location as it's literally on the beach too.

Review 14:Lack of facilities in the gym and gym was very warm. Treadmill actually switched itself off mid run causing the belt to stop almost instantly, catapulting me into the hand rail (luckily I don't run very quickly!). Spa/pool staff didn't speak English which made trying to follow their instructions tricky if your French isn't good.

Review 15:Car parking. Pool and spa facilities.

Review 16:Room was so far from the reception that we took our cases with us to breakfast. Breakfast good selection but hot food was not topped up and so there was only cold food available

Review 17:Nice clean hotel and room good

Review 18:We all had dinner in the restaurant and having ordered our main course, just before it arrived we were told that it wasn't as we had ordered as the hotel had run out of the vegetables. We were not given the option to change and felt it was badly handled by the head waiter - thus very disappointed

Review 19:Breakfast was not included in the price, which we had not realised. Breakfast 16euros per person. Wifi was available but logging in each time was a pain.

Review 20:Friendly receptionists and local to beach, port and other restaurants.

Review 21:Difficult to find a space in the car park.

Review 22:Stylish, modern and clean hotel in a good position, with professional and friendly staff. Good restaurant and facilities. Close to ferry port and lovely beach

Review 23:Hotel charged at the time of booking, so no opportunity to cancel should our travel plans have changed

Review 24:Good location, easy to find, free parking, late check in. Large room with sea view (no charge)

Review 25:We were very disappointed that we did not get the room we requested. We booked well in advance for a double room and ended up with a room for a disabled person. Did not like toilet in bathroom or the wet room shower

Review 26:Friendliness of staff, position of hotel ease of booking in and out relaxed about time

Review 27:long walk in a robe from pool to rooms wold be better if could change in rooms adjacent to pool

Review 28:enjoyed location as close to all amenities of town pool excellent as not too deep

Review 29:Very clean and pleasant room surprising amount of storage plenty of surface area in bathroom for toiletries.Reception staff very friendly and helpful.Good location.j

Review 30:Nothing.

Review 31:Location for .visiting the war beaches and para sites. Very friendly staff always willing to help, bar staff good fun and friendly, hotel spotlessly clean.

Review 32:Room not 4 star - we have been in some better budget hotel rooms. Especially the bathroom which was very poor. Also low quality linens. Paper cups for tea/coffee in the room.etc

Review 33:Location. Some pleasant staff. Quite nice spa / pool area.

Review 34:The hotel is a spa and unless you are looking for all that this entails, this is not the hotel for you. It is not a 4* international hotel (only French TV etc) the bar closes at 10pm (10.30 Weekends) Restaurant 9pm (9.30 Weekends) did not eat in the hotel menu very limited we had a nice meal in the casino next door. Very expensive, room very hot think the hotel is set up for as a healthy get away for wealthy Parisians.

Review 35:Plenty of parking, all very clean

Review 36:SPA/Thalasso facility. Expecting to have a proper SPA this was very disappointing: a very small sauna with 2 benches, little Hammam, 2 pools with some massage jets and cool water.

Review 37:Friendly staff, good location at the sea side

Review 38:Reception staff very rude and unhelpful from the onset.! I checked in speaking french as I thought the French would appreciate me trying to communicate but when I didn't understand her reply the receptionist was very rude and condescending . Room was ground floor and no beach view and bathroom was tired and grubby ,broken tiles !

Review 39:Location was fantastic ! Right on sword beach and walking distance to bars and restaurants.

Review 40:Price of restaurant was pretty steep so didn't eat there at all .

Review 41:A two minute drive from ferry ...super location on the beach and easy reach of D-day sight seeing places and Caen .

Review 42:All the spa users coming in for breakfast in their white robes. Should not be encouraged.

Review 43:The hotel has a lovely location made even better as we had a room with a seaview. We did not use the spa facilities , although they were included in the price. The restaurant was very busy the first night we arrived and as a result the service was very slow but the food was excellent but was pricey. Very handy if using the ferry to Portsmouth literally 5 minutes away? Also in a great location to visit the beaches of World War 2.

Review 44:The room was large, clean, very comfortable and had a great view on the beach and the sunset. Staff was extremely helpful and polite. And then the best thing of course was the Spa and pool with seawater; very relaxing! I also tried the seafood buffet on Thursday nights - which was not really cheap, but the food was fresh and delicious.

Review 45:the size of the main towels, too small

Review 46:This is one of the best 4 star hotels I have ever stayed, rooms are immaculately clean with great facilities, really bright and smart, the bathrooms are pristine

Review 47:The fabric of the building was poor and in corridors and stairwells, it felt flimsy and clinical and though not particularly important, did detract from the four star ambiance.

Review 48:We deliberately chose this hotel for its location close to the ferry and our last day after a week's cycling. The Spa facilities were just what we needed. The bedding and room furnishings were excellent.

Review 49:Food in dining room was rather bland and tasteless so overpriced. Bar area was closed after 9 30 pm so nowhere to get a drink or coffee. We had to really insist and considering is a 4 Star that is poor. Obviously this probably suits families with young children and older relatives, but for others is very restrictive.

Review 50:The location of the hotel is very good in terms of the town and ferry and it is very bright, modern and clean. I think it probably would most suit those who definitely want to use the spa and/or families who have people from a range of ages needs to consider, particularly older people. Breakfast had a good choice

Review 51:The restaurant service is strangely scheduled: two hours in the afternoon - sandwiches, three hours per day - waffle, etc. that means that your lunch period is very limited by this inconvenient system. The service in the restaurant during dinner was awful: the personnel did not notice you, they brought you all dishes in disorder: one client had to eat and others should wait for their dishes for 20 minutes, so on. You must pour the wine by yourself. They brought soup but did not care about a spoon. For one dinner it was more than enough.

Review 52:The parking on the territory of the hotel is free. The service in the spa area is really great, personnel in this area is very helpful and professional. The young lady in the bar (Joanna) is so hospitable and charming, it was a real pleasure to be served by her during lunch time. Moreover she can speak English. Many thanks to her. The housekeeping is also very good and ready to help. The breakfast is rather variable. But there is no place for sun bath in the hotel. There are several sun chairs but they are next to the restaurant and bar area and it is inconvenient to lay in bikini when other clients eat.

Review 53:A really beautiful hotel, modern, clean with exceptional Spa facilities. Staff were helpful and being located right beside a fantastic beach was ideal. Very comfortable stay which we would defiantly do here again

Review 54:Staff were a bit robotic - efficient but seemed impersonal With the spa, people would attend breakfast in their robes or walk through reception in them. Too casual for me. Check in time of 4pm was ridiculous We opted for a "quiet" room which was a euphemism for a room farthest away from reception.

Review 55:Location Well equipped room Good parking Comfortable beds

Review 56:Close to caen port

Review 57:Quiet, nice room, location, free water and coffee making facilities

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Very efficient check in Clean and tidy reception area and helpful staff Excellent room excellent start

Review 62:Location, friendliness, comfort, restaurant. Parking. Great hotel.

Review 63:\weather pool you could not do lengths

Review 64:a very pleasant stay. staff good. pool good but unusual.

Review 65:Modern facilities, handy for port.

Review 66:The temperature of the water could have been a little warmer.

Review 67:Fantastic location. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Review 68:Friendly staff and great facilities. Will return.

Review 69:Check in time 16pm is too late

Review 70:pool & beach & clean facilities. Gift bag in spa

Review 71:a very comfortable hotel, a nice location near the sea

Review 72:House keeping 9 out of 10!

Review 73:Location and pool

Review 74:Good room and excellent breakfast

Review 75:no english t.v. channels !!!!

Review 76:Hotel ,location, easy to find, staff, food

Review 77:Location was ideal, the staff very helpful, and the quality of food was first class. Spa was excellant

Review 78:The people from the spa wandering around in bath robes. It was more a spa than a hotel.

Review 79:Cheerful and obliging staff

Review 80:The two beds and size of suite

Review 81:Amazing location, only stayed for one night as catching the ferry the next day.

Review 82:All the facilities were good. The spa and pool were excellent Meals were good. A short walk along the beach was good

Review 83:Great pool, great breakfast and staff who were attentive when you needed them.

Review 84:Didn't fully disclose "rules" of the hotel when traveling with a 7 yr old

Review 85:Difficult to find the hotel, lack of signs to the hotel

Review 86:Good staff and good service

Review 87:Walls needed redecorating

Review 88:Helpful and enthusiastic staff

Review 89:Excellent, friendly staff Great food great facilities

Review 90:Efficient but unsmiling staff

Review 91:Location, rooms, comfortable bed, good breakfast

Review 92:Restaurant is to expensive for the quality compared to surroundings restaurants

Review 93:All is made to make people relax. Great place

Review 94:1km from centre of town

Review 95:A/c in Aug, spa , free parking, food excellent, on the beach

Review 96:Location. Facilities and staff

Review 97:Right by the beach and close to all the facilities

Review 98:nothing

Review 99:Situated on sword beach where my partners dad landed on D Day. It was just what we were looking for excellent hotel throughout with helpful and friendly staff and great food.

Review 100:Long way to get to bed-rooms especially with a lot of luggage. Maybe a second set of stairs/lifts?

Review 101:The staff were so kind, helpful and very flexible - especially as we were a very noisy group of relations. Well done all of you.

Review 102:Not family friendly. Paid for spa access but by the time we checked in spa closed at 8 pm, children not allow to the pool till 2 pm And check out time at 12.

Review 103:small rooms, no view in most of the rooms, expensive, staff fairly aloof, restaurant service very slow, no one to serve in the bar

Review 104:Good location for ferry

Review 105:The atmosphere of the hotel is clinical, a little bossy and essentially situated in a car park (unless you pay extra for a view of the sand dunes)

Review 106:The facilities of the spa itself are good, clean and well managed.

Review 107:Overpriced for what it is. Food expensive and not as good as a nearby cafe Lack of basic amenities in the room, such as no milk with coffee or tea and then only 2 packets of tea / coffee. You could have an iron but no ironing board. Tried to charge for breakfast when we had not had it. They did this twice

Review 108:Beach

Review 109:It turned out to be more of a Spa Hotel catering to locals. People walk around in bath robes including for breakfast. Saw very few non French. Felt a little like I was at a club I did not belong to but people were friendly - it was clean and well managed - but it is really a Spa Resort. A lot of guests were elderly - but it was quiet and convenient.

Review 110:Vert clean, good breakfast but continental, friendly - more of a spa hotel catering for local French more than international tourists. Lots of car parking near to Ferry and adjacent to beach.

Review 111:Of all the staff nobody spoke English. I asked for bath towels and they told me they were out, they only had hand towels!

Review 112:Ocean view, clean rooms, nice shower, comfortable beds

Review 113:Nothing. Better than expected.

Review 114:We stayed one night and arrived late so didn't eat dinner or breakfast. The hotel was close to the ferry and on the beach as described. We found the staff friendly and rooms clean and comfortable with a modern design. The wifi worked well in our room. Weather was not good so we made good use of the excellent spa facilities before leaving.

Review 115:Personnel at reception could be more friendly.

Review 116:Great pool/spa/sauna facilities. Very good food in Restaurant, especially for New-Year"s Eve. Personnel for body care was veryfriendly and customer focused. 5Min walk from beach

Review 117:bathroom, out of date decor, scratched up hallways and room walls and crown molding

Review 118:location

Review 119:Right on the beach and walking distance from shops and restaurants .

Review 120:Very close to seaside and the staff very helpfull

Review 121:All good

Review 122:Good base for the beeches.

Review 123:Very good facility, very modern and nice staff.

Review 124:restaurant and general attendance was poor at the desk

Review 125:room and spa/pool
