Reviews for Pension Erofili

Review 1:Our room faced the street, on the first floor, very close to a popular taverna (good food). On our first night there, a noisy group had a late party at the taverna. But otherwise it was quiet. The breakfast area is outdoors and it rained! Ask for a room in back or upstairs.

Review 2:Breakfast was wonderful, with new items each morning. Hydra is charming, as is this old house.

Review 3:The only thing we didn't like was that we didn't know how great it would be and went back to Athens after just one night!

Review 4:We loved the location, easily within walking distance from the Port. Close to restaurants and shops. We didn't eat breakfast there but it looked pretty typical and fresh. Best thing was at the last minute we decided to go horseback riding with Harriet's Hydra Horses but we weren't sure how to call her. We saw the owner of Erofili down by the port and asked him and he made a quick call, walked us a few minutes away and the next thing I knew, Harriet was there to set up our ride.

Review 5:Delicious breakfasts in a lovely courtyard. Excellent location in centre of Hydra Town. Very clean and comfortable, and run by a very nice husband and wife duo. Overall a delightful experience and excellent value for money. Can't wait to return!

Review 6:The bathroom was not in great condition - a moldy shower curtain and tape on the floor tiles. It also could have been cleaner.

Review 7:The hotel was close to the port, reasonably priced, and had a breakfast with lots of selection.

Review 8:Main gripe: inexcusably grubby shower. Mould all up the shower curtain surrounding tiny dingy shower where the thing to hold the shower head on the wall was broken. And one of the two lights in bathroom broken too. A bit of basic maintenance and washing or buying a new shower curtain shouldn't be too much to ask surely. Shame because otherwise the room was fine if basic. And a minor thing but there was no-one on reception when we arrived and although we followed their instructions to call a number there was no answer for several attempts so took about a 15 min wait till we could check in.

Review 9:Brilliant location very close to the harbour

Review 10:Amazing location, wonderful and helpful staff, the room was cleaned daily and they had great Wifi. We were traveling with our 4 month old baby and it was comfortable and affordable. We loved Hydra and will definitely be back and will for sure stay here again!

Review 11:A delightful small hotel set in a great position to explore Hydra. Staff very welcoming and able to answer any queries. Great selection at breakfast and lovely to eat outside in the terraced area.

Review 12:That we had to leave.

Review 13:We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was very nice, with many home baked goods. :) I particularly liked the coconut cake and the apricot tart. My husband was a huge fan of the little buckwheat pancakes. The room was clean, comfortable, a nice size and a great deal. And I loved the quiet. It is such a short walk from the harbor, and while I enjoyed the activity there, I loved at the end of the night to pass out of it into a quieter street and into the peaceful courtyard of the pension. We will be back.

Review 14:The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made an effort to help you feel at home and cooked an amazing breakfast every morning, with freshly made jams and cakes. The location is perfect, a few meters from the port and the best street with restaurants.

Review 15:No bad experiences at all.

Review 16:Very friendly owners. Beautifully quiet and peaceful. Two minutes from everything. This is a no frills but lovely hotel. Everything you need without being expensive and over the top. Most of all the staff were more than helpful. Loved it.

Review 17:Our rooms were at the basement floors, so limited window space and lacked privacy. Probably because we stayed for 1 night and they are full and understandably the better rooms would be given to others staying longer.

Review 18:service is excellent location - just a very short walk to the centre of activities rooms are clean, simple and cosy. nice outdoor space for reading/relaxing we booked 2 rooms for 5 pax and they gave us free breakfast to make up for the tight space in one of the 3 bedded rooms

Review 19:The shower curtain was useless and very annoying as it didn't stay put. If you stay in the room facing the garden, the noises might bother you - if you wanna sleep in, choose another room if possible.

Review 20:I was able to check in outside official hours, which was really great. The location was perfect: Close to the port but in a quiet area. The breakfast was amazing so do try it (8€ if not included)!

Review 21:The bathroom was pretty small, and the shower was awful. However don't let that put you off.

Review 22:Good location, great breakfast and really friendly owners.

Review 23:New shower curtain is needed in room 3.

Review 24:Great location right in the heart of town. Cute little courtyard where we had a great breakfast. Breakfast consisted of eggs, yogurt, variety of breads and sweet snacks, cereal, fruits, cheese, coffee, teas and juice. The owner met us at the port.

Review 25:I loved the Pension Erofili and would stay here again in a heartbeat. We met George and Ireni at the dock when we arrived - such a friendly welcome which continued for the whole of our stay. Breakfast was excellent, location wonderful. Our stay was the best we had in Greece. Thank you both and hope to see you again soon!

Review 26:Bathroom was pretty tired looking and the bed was rock solid!! But for the price no complaints really.

Review 27:Couldn't ask for a better location and owner came to meet us from the boat!! Friendly welcoming and overall very nice hotel. Our room was beautiful and the little breakfast area was a lovely rest-spite from the sun.

Review 28:The bathroom was very basic, but clean.

Review 29:The friendly staff. Our quiet room with good mattresses. The breakfast was made interesting and tasty by items baked at the premises. Walking distance from the port.

Review 30:. We appreciated the offer to deliver luggage to us at the dock before our 2PM FERRY, but when we wandered through the streets, It was disappointing to find it sitting outside the hotel unattended.

Review 31:Very friendly: George met us on the street near the dock and helped with luggage as he guided us the very short distance to the hotel. Comfortabe accommodations, and very reasonable price. Excellent breakfast on the beautiful patio. Owners were ever present and particularly attentive.

Review 32:Other guests smoking at breakfast in small courtyard dining area. Laminate timber floor in our room badly fitted and crackled when we walked on it

Review 33:Quiet, clean room, welcoming hosts, pretty courtyard. Short walk onto main port area. Doukakis taverna right behind pension

Review 34:Wasn't keen on the shower

Review 35:Not far from the port and main restaurants and cafés, so easy to get to especially with luggage on the cobbled floors. Love the way the owner waits at the port for you to arrive to meet and greet you No Steps !

Review 36:The position of the accommodation, short distance from the harbour. Comfortable, clean room. Very good Continental style breakfast, all homemade pastries. Breakfast taken in the lovely courtyard.Very welcoming and helpful owners. Would love to return.

Review 37:Nothing.

Review 38:Everything!! Owner met us at Ferry. Carried bags. Beautiful courtyard. Quiet, peaceful. Near everything. Easy to find. Immaculate accomodations. .

Review 39:Bathroom ok but needed some attention to fixtures like toilet seat!

Review 40:Accommodation was very good particularly for the price. Courtyard great place to sit for a cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon as well as take breakfast in the morning.

Review 41:It's not luxurious but you don't need it, everything is perfect. The breakfast is home made and the owners go an extra mile for you. I can't thank them enough for an amazing stay.

Review 42:The hallway was so dark, I had trouble getting the key in the door.

Review 43:The location was excellent, a short walk from the harbor and many wonderful restaurants. The breakfast was full of homemade treats. The owner even met us on the way up from the harbor and helped with our luggage. We didn't have much, but it was a very nice gesture.

Review 44:The wifi was weak in the room, but we had no problems in the courtyard.

Review 45:We loved George our host and his friendly, welcoming ways! His breakfast was excellent, he has the best bougainvillea in town and the pension was tucked away in a quiet side street where the only noise you heard was the clip clip of the donkeys, the happy chatter of people from all ethnicities, the gentle coing of pigeons and the meowing from the many cats who occupy the island!

Review 46:The bathroom is fine, but the shower is small.

Review 47:Hydra is a wonderful destination and Pension Erofili is a convenient, pleasant way to enjoy your stay. Rooms are arranged around a small, quiet, charming courtyard with nice plantings. A fabulous, unique breakfast of nearly 20 different homemade pastries is served in the courtyard. Rooms are nice sized, beds are comfortable, and everything is clean. Erofili isn't plush, but has lots of character, and represents a remarkable value. The owners went out of their way to help us. They made phone calls to the mainland town of Ermioni arranging for a rental car to continue our trip. Would stay here again!

Review 48:Shower water didn't warm up to be very hot "refreshing!"

Review 49:Rooms lovely and welcoming Breakfast an array of baked quiches and cakes - delicious Nice courtyard

Review 50:-For some reason, I ended up with three single beds even though I requested one double bed. The double bed was formed by pushing together two singles. The mattresses were a bit hard considering the price point. - More expensive than my usual type of accommodations, but a relatively good deal for the normally quite pricey island

Review 51:-Very conveniently located within a few steps from Hydra port - Simple, clean decoration - Friendly staff - Private rooms were a nice break from staying in hostels

Review 52:The pension was exactly what we were hoping for. George and Irene are great hosts very helpful and friendly Irene Homemade breakfast is fabulous Defiantly hope to return one day.

Review 53:We demandered a twin room but got an extre bed in our room, so it was a bit tough without bumping anything when move around. I believe they would rearrange the beds better.

Review 54:Warm bienvenue made us settle down easily and quickly. Homemade breakfast was various and delicious. Free toiletry plus everything we need is in the room.we had a kettle and instant coffee and tea bags fir refreshing . Didn't need a donkey to get to the hotel at all.

Review 55:The location is only a couple minutes from the port yet is very quiet. Bed is comfortable and the breakfast is homemade and delicious. The hosts, Jorgos and Ireni, are very nice and accommodating.

Review 56:Everything was great.

Review 57:The location of this hotel is great! George was very helpful and nice. He gave us the option to move to a room upstairs after the first night. We stayed in the room downstairs because it was large and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay in Hydra very much and would be happy to return at Erofili.

Review 58:The shower was a nuisance as it fell off the wall, and drained outside of the shower.

Review 59:The bed was very comfortable and clean. The staff kept the room well equipped each day.

Review 60:Very picturesque island! Huge double bed in a very comfortable room! Very good location, just 5 mins on foot away from the port! Very friendly host ( he even came to pick us up from the port )!

Review 61:A friendly owner who was very helpful. The room is clean, nice and airy. Easy to get to and within walking distance from the harbour. Great little place to get away from it all.

Review 62:Shame there was no breakfast on offer as reviews from previous guests were very good, however we were aware that things are a lot quieter out of season.

Review 63:Very warm welcome and our room was comfortable. Great price.

Review 64:Wonderful pension, not far from the port (and no stairs/hills to get there); very cute setting, excellent recommendations for cafes/restaurants; given sweet, fresh oranges, on arrival

Review 65:Our huge window was over a well-used walkway, so it was often noisy. One night the catamaran racing club was having an after party nearby and it was so noisy it was like being there. (Thank goodness for ear plugs!)

Review 66:Great variety breakfast items. George and Irini couldn't have been nicer! Irini even did our laundry (by hand) for us free.

Review 67:The Wi-Fi was weak, and I think it's time for the room to receive some TLC (decor, caulking in bath, fix the dripping faucet, etc). Since the owner isn't on the premises at night there is no one to ask people to be quiet after 10pm. We had people running down the stairs chasing each other and laughing at midnight. Other guests came in on our second day and they had their doors open and were chatting in the halls while we tried to sleep. They had a baby along that decided to cry around 4am. A noisy place.

Review 68:the owner met us at the ferry, which was very helpful because we would not have been able to find it on our own. The location was close to the harbor.

Review 69:nothing

Review 70:This place is adorable. It is off the main drag just enough to make it quiet. The room was large and comfy. Breakfast was all homemade by the woman that owned the pension. The breakfast area was outside with plants and flowers, just delightful. Staff was helpful and attentive and even though it is down a few streets from the port there are signs pointing you in the right direction, very quant.

Review 71:The breakfast looked lovely, but I can't cope with much food at that time of the morning (I don't get hungry until mid-morning). So I would like to have the option of just coffee/ tea and bread (at a lower price)

Review 72:The green, shady courtyard, the fresh white sheets and towels, the easy flat 2-minute walk from all the harbour's bustle

Review 73:Nothing. Room was basic but you expect that in village rooms.

Review 74:lovely courtyard setting for breakfast. The staff were smiling and very friendly and helpful. One girl even washed clothes for us when we enquired about laundry facalities. Very good value.

Review 75:Small but unimportant things could be better, like if they clean up their courtyard a little and water their plants, which now look somewhat sad.

Review 76:Romantic room (above street level) and clean. Great location (2 minutes walk to port). Friendly staff/owners. Nice breakfast with home made pies. Good value for money. Exceeded my expectations.

Review 77:Nothing

Review 78:The staff were very friendly, someone came to meet us when we came off the boat and show us the way to Erofili. The breakfast was fantastic. A virtual banquet every morning, everything was homemade and tasted great. Very good value for money! The breakfast was served in the garden, which was lush and very quiet. A very tranquil place to have breakfast or read a book. Really close to Hydra port and centre (around 1 minute walk). We loved Pension Erofili and would definitely return.

Review 79:-tiny tiny bathroom with questionably separated shower, the whole bathroom would get wet - no real windows, so a slight box feeling

Review 80:+it is very central, so 3 min walk from the port +good value for money ( but then you have to adjust your expectations accordingly) +wi-fi +air conditioning in the rooms ( which was great since the windows were too small)

Review 81:Hydra town and harbour is shaped like an amphitheatre so sound does seem to be amplified. There are no private cars, so the sound of donkey's feet on the stone streets is nice, but you can hear everything people say who walk passed your window, and nearby, but it is an enchanting place.

Review 82:Our first floor room was a good size and had all we needed, and a very good standard for a small Pension. The owners were delightful and helpful, and the breakfast wonderful. It is situated on a narrow street not too far from the harbour front, and below an excellent taverna.

Review 83:The shower curtain was not too practical. No plugs for the bathroom basin to rinse swimming shorts etc.

Review 84:Well situated in a reasonable quiet street but not too far away from the port, with excellent restaurants very nearby. Breakfast was plentiful with homemade patisserie. Friendly advice from the owners.

Review 85:The shower is not a "power" shower so you need to calculate a little more time for that if you're used to a power shower. If you don't know what I mean, than you probably have the same shower at home and that's not an issue :-)

Review 86:Excellent staff! All are very friendly and helpful. The owner even picked me up at the harbour and carried my luggage to the pension! Look for a man with a nice smile and a T-Shirt that says Pension Erofili :-) The room was quite big, en suite, and very clean. The bed was comfortable, I slept through, which hardly happens! The location couldn't be better! It's very close to the harbour and yet calm. The WiFi was for free and the signal perfect! Last but not least, the breakfast was amazing! Self-made jam, self-made quiches, self-made sweets! To die for!

Review 87:Hard beds; room decor a little old fashioned (compared with previous 7 night stay at the 7 Brothers Hotel in Poros); wall mount for shower head broken.

Review 88:"Absolutely Charming" sums up this accommodation. Not marvelous, not superb; just absolutely charming. That said we were by no means disappointed; in fact our rating would probably have been higher were it not for the superb standard of the 7 Brothers Hotel in Poros, where we had spent the 7 nights previous to our 3 nights at Pension Erofili on Hydra.

Review 89:Probably the only tiny bit negative thing was that the windows do not really insulate sound, so when people were speaking while passing the windows on the street, their voices could be heard. But since the location is on a side-street this is not a problem and a bad sleeper (like me), can solve it with earplugs, and this problem would be much bigger in a place nearer the port.

Review 90:Beautiful spotless rooms, lovely staff, nice little courtyard where buffet breakfast is served (several kinds of home-made pies, yogurth, fruit etc.) Nice location close to the port but in a quiet side-street. Accepts credit cards, beach towels provided, hot water, everything works, nicely decorate but not over the top. Highly recommed!

Review 91:The owners and staff were so friendly, accommodating and helpful. Irene's homemade breakfast was superb and served in the gorgeous courtyard. It was in a fabulous location - just far enough back from the hustle and bustle of the port. It was lovely to escape the crowds for some peace and quiet. I would recommend this to anyone travelling to Hydra. It was just wonderful and I have nothing to complain about. Thankyou for a wonderful stay.

Review 92:Shower room is too small.

Review 93:Staff are all kind and friendly. Our room has a air-condition, which is necessary in hot summer days. Breakfast is good. They offer towels for the beach.

Review 94:We stayed in an economy room which was ambient with a big bed, nicely decorated and very clean. Also it was comfortably cool almost no need for a/c. Breakfast was just perfect. We will stay at Erofili for sure next time.

Review 95:The bathrooms could use some updating, but then again, who cares? Everything was very simple, almost like staying in someone's home. This means that the doors are just like you would have on your bedroom at home. This really wasn't a problem for us since everyone was generally quiet.

Review 96:The inner courtyard lush and calm. Great breakfasts and very helpful staff. The whole family was charming and welcoming. We loved our time in Hydra.

Review 97:The room needs some renovation, for example was it difficult to close the bathroom door, some shelves looked like the were falling down.

Review 98:The breakfast was excellent, lots of homemade food and cakes. The hotel has a good location close to the ferry and close to restaurants.

Review 99:Bathroom especially shower area and seeing some dead cockroaches' in hallway.

Review 100:Location, friendly staff, air conditioning, good breakfast, and Wi-Fi speed.

Review 101:The bathroom was spacious but the shower was a little small.

Review 102:Close to the harbour and friendly staff. The breakfast is served in the patio and is very good with fresh pies etc.

Review 103:There was a 1960's plastic curtain on the shower. No need for it as there was a water drain in the floor. A minor complaint and would not prevent me going back.

Review 104:Hydra is a must go to island. Erofili is a perfect pension, just far enough away from the port to be away from the noise but close enough to be near everything. A lot of great Tavernas literally around the corner. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Review 105:Close to the port, taverns and bars, clean rooms, good air conditioner, by far the most hospitable and beautiful owner operators George and Irene, nothing was ever too much trouble, Irene's buffet breakfast was to die for, everything made with love and care, a true reflection of how they run the Erofili. Hands down will stay there again upon our next visit to Hydra. George and Irene made our visit a great one, if your looking for a true Greek island experience then the Erofili is the hotel for you.

Review 106:We had a great time, very friendly owners, they pick us up from port and helped us to get in the Pension even though it was 9:40 pm. Everything it was clean, close to everything in the island. Great wifi. I recommend this place.

Review 107:George and Irene were great hosts. Breakfast is a feast and all homemade. Close to the harbor and dining. For the price it is an excellent place to stay. Will do it again. They even helped is figure out how to get to Nafplio without going to Athens.

Review 108:We were picked up at Hydra Port just after the arrival of the ferry by George, Pension Erofili's owner. He took us there, carrying my girlfriend's luggage. Our room was neither huge nor small, a good size, clean and (all the time, mostly without AC despite being not under ground) nicely cool. It was cleaned every day by the nice chamber maid Silvana, always to our content.Sheets and blankets were refreshed on a regular basis. We didn't hear much from the other guests in our room, it was quite silent apart from two or three (in two weeks) door bangs from somewhere. The owners George and his wife Ireni were helpful all the time, aswell as their adolescent children, the son even offered me to bring his bathroom scale from his home for me to weigh my luggage before departure.Always friendly and somehow happy towards even proud about what they were doing for a living, they also could answer any of our questions, where to find, buy and get this and that or points of interest, such as the very hard to find house of Leonard Cohen or where one could get a Briki, a Greek coffee pot for that wonderful Greek coffee. We had our booking with breakfast, it was €8 per person and day and were not disappointed, especially if the alternative would have been eating outside for perhaps the same amout with much lesser food. There was an ever changing assortment of home-made cakes, quiches, pastries and tartes, sweet and savoury, especially the orange cake is just fantastic; furthermore a wide selection of most splendid home-made jams, yoghurt, and the common other breakfast ingredients you would find anywhere, always fresh and tasty. The coffee was good, so was the orange juice, if someone took the last part or sip of something, it was replaced in a few minutes.Breakfast was had in the courtyard, with much shade but also sunny spots, surrounded by a huge amout of flowers and plants, quite idyllic.

Review 109:Our room was on ground level so no view but we knew about it while booking- actually it was really cool and shady so very relaxing and quiet after the day under the Greek sun; we slept soundly till 10am :-)

Review 110:Great location, friendly and very helpful staff, wonderful homemade breakfast, cosy "pension", possibility to air room but also airco in room

Review 111:Excellent stay!!' The owners and staff made it home away from home. Everything about this place was absolutely wonderful: clean and comfortable room, reasonable price and amazing breakfast. Thank you. We will be back!!'

Review 112:weather , but this is not in the control of us.

Review 113:nice little private balcony, if weather had been nicer would have been great to sit

Review 114:Wonderful family run place with nice rooms and great location. Even had welcome as we arrived at the boat to take us to our room.

Review 115:N/A

Review 116:It looks like a family business

Review 117:It's a very good lacated place

Review 118:Friendly staff, great location, amazing breakfest!

Review 119:The staff were very friendly friendly The location The room was nice and clean

Review 120:shower nozzel holder broken

Review 121:top breakfast grub

Review 122:Room was located in the basement.

Review 123:Terrace, Location, Breakfast, staff.

Review 124:location and ambience

Review 125:No full time desk attendant (but not a real issue for me).

Review 126:Value for money was great.
