Reviews for Redesdale Arms Hotel

Review 1:Brilliant experience from start to finish. A big thank you to Rob and all the Redesdale staff who are friendly, helpful and work as a team seamlessly. We were left with a sense that they really care about customers and not just for the reviews! They understand the meaning of 'hospitality'. Great breakfast with lots of choice, no waiting time, and efficient welcoming staff. Lovely linens and toiletries, comfy bed and pillows. Clean, clean, clean. We loved both our rooms - we stayed twice in December visiting family. Quiet sleep. The hotel has a great pub with fireplace that is relaxed and inviting with a good varied menu. We enjoyed our meals there! Perfect working wifi. Thank you! We will definitely be returning!

Review 2:we liked the ambience and the friendliness of ALL the staff. The food is terrific. The breakfast offers such a great choice it really is impressive for the price.

Review 3:Electric shower that went cold when covered in soap suds - clearly a water pressure problem! Noise from upstairs room floorboards creaking - quaint and rustic no doubt but annoying. Lighting very dim in room despite having every light on. Door window requires proper curtain to exclude light at night. Very slow service in restaurant and some staff could smile occasionally.

Review 4:Spacious, well appointed room. Food good in restaurant and bar. Position excellent in centre of town and on-site parking (although car park was very full).

Review 5:I have a bad back and find the mattresses hard .I have stayed at the hotel before so I took a mattress topper with me.

Review 6:Very friendly and efficient staff. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a garden.

Review 7:Only concern - terrible very 'cheap and tacky' pictures, looking like they had been chosen by a child in a pound shop on a two for one offer they were out of place in an otherwise excellent room.

Review 8:Excellent service, very pleasant, comfortable and clean room (except pictures!), lovely breakfast. Value for money. Look forward to making a return visit.

Review 9:I couldn't fault our stay and will certainly be staying again. Many thanks

Review 10:The restraunt food was excellent and the staff, a nice bar with a large open fire which felt very homely. The room was nice very clean and a nice touch a decanter of sherry.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:Relaxing environment, staff very accomodating. We had an issue with our room, moved us without complaint and followed up that we were happy. Couldnt fault the service

Review 13:It was everything you could hope for in an English country hotel, Cody friendly, good food, open fires and a very comfortable room with everything you would need. Plus great location.

Review 14:Great welcome . Friendly staff. Room was large , comfortable and warm. Excellent location in town centre. We had a courtyard room which was very quiet.

Review 15:Fantastic stay yet again - food amazing, breakfast brilliant as ever and had a good wander around the christmas market and the town - we love this hotel

Review 16:We liked everything about The Redesdale.

Review 17:Warm, comfortable, welcoming, lovely food. We are newlyweds in our seventies and really didn't want our honeymoon to end.

Review 18:We stopped for one night on Saturday 21st November. At 3 am in the morning we were woken up by a group of ladies who had rooms near us in room 23. They were part of a large party who used the separate dining room. For almost an hour they made lots of noise, accompanied by lots of swearing...the F word. We would have phoned reception but the information in the room stated that reception closes at midnight. This spoiled the stay, but not our enjoyment of staying at the RA. May I suggest that you 'politely' remind guests in the future either staying or returning to the hotel that they must consider other guests after midnight.

Review 19:Room was excellent as usual. We have stayed here before. Dinner was also excellent.

Review 20:I did not get the idyllic feeling of the Cotswolds staying at this hotel. In terms of value for money I felt as though I had got a better deal in Bourton on the Water the night before.

Review 21:Helpful staff & nice room

Review 22:Heavy doors that would loudly bang closed causing disturbed sleep at night. Late night noise from people staying in rooms below us. Small onsuite with no bath.

Review 23:Good food and service in the restaurant. Convenient and ample car parking.

Review 24:superb cleanliness of rooms, esp bathroom. excellent food, esp breakfast with constant buffet top ups value for money compared with other hotels in the town

Review 25:Wifi a bit hit & miss in the bedroom.

Review 26:Brilliant location both in terms of being close to Moreton amenities & for exploring the Cotswolds. Excellent choice for breakfast & highly recommend the Friday fish n chips really hot & tasty & huge portion. Best of all was the hard working, never off duty staff. Nothing was too much trouble, they were very friendly & had lots of helpful tips about things to do.

Review 27:One of us commented that the tap water tasted disgusting: the other didn't drink it! One of us found the bed rather hard.

Review 28:Excellent location, very good breakfasts, all the necessary facilities...and more. We also had a very good evening meal there.

Review 29:The room was lovely but far too hot.it made sleeping difficult even with the window wide open. Car park full to the brim, difficult to find a place to park as it was market day next day.

Review 30:All excellent, staff great and friendly. Breakfast extremely good and every taste catered for.

Review 31:on the Saturday evening requested the meat cooked medium but was served raw on one of our meals. We suggested we chose something else but they said would cook it some more and give us a steak knife.

Review 32:On arrival taken to room and shown round. Bottles of water and a large decanter half full of sherry with the compliments of the hotel with a handful of chocolates. also given 2 cards to redeem at the bar for glasses of complimentary French fizz. Breakfast was serve yourself with large choice and was excellent .

Review 33:Really really need new mattresses and definitely new pillows. Central to everything including walkin.. Good Information given and off street parking a bonus.

Review 34:The menu and quality of good was superb, the waitstaff were fantastic.

Review 35:We had a pleasant one-night stay in this hotel. We had one of the chalet rooms, which was spacious and comfortable. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips in newspaper we had for tea in the bar!

Review 36:The rooms are a little tired and in need of updating. The breakfast buffet was variable in terms of quality.

Review 37:Staff were extremely helpful and the facilities were good.

Review 38:The overall friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. The decor of the room was excellent and the outside private 'roof terrace' was fabulous. The whole place was extremely well soundproofed. There were some lovely extra touches, like the complimentary water and sherry, free wifi throughout (which actually worked and was easy to connect to!) and the use of the computer in the lobby was a nice thought. Breakfast excellent too.

Review 39:Extremely small shower which could be a problem for some people.

Review 40:The staff were outstanding. Plenty of variety at breakfast and the evening meals we ate there were also great. Very convenient location in the Cotswolds.

Review 41:There was only one small issue which was one side of the bed was very soft and sunken.

Review 42:We loved the homely feel as well as the nice touches such as sherry in the room. Great menu for the evening meal.

Review 43:Comfortable and relaxing atmosphere - love the log fire! Staff exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast and enjoyed best fish and chips have had in a long while. Thanks for a great stay.

Review 44:The room, food and staff were all excellent. Complimentary sherry & mineral water in your room was a lovely extra. Location of the hotel is perfect.

Review 45:Nicely located. Accommodation and food excellent - Breakfast superb with great choice. Staff all very friendly. Good parking. Only stayed one night but would definitely stay again in future.

Review 46:We ordered dinner on first evening and our starter was not forthcoming and the main course arrived but we considered it not good for presentation or quality. We ate in the bar on subsequent evenings but .there was not much choice.

Review 47:Friendliness of staff. We asked if we could book sunday roast and it was not available in evening but they saved some for us and it was excellent. The room was beautifully kept.

Review 48:The view from the room wasn't spectacular, but I'm not sure any other place in town would have a better view.

Review 49:Wonderful staff, wonderful breakfast. Great location.

Review 50:Extremely polite and helpful staff. Very friendly always checking everything is ok Excellent room, spacious and comfortable with many extras. Variety of choice at breakfast.

Review 51:overall experience was poor, from the entrance to the bedrooms which was not very clean. room was very dated and shower had to be run for 5 minutes before any hot water. there was mould round edges of shower and you could not move in the tiny cubicle. breakfast was reasonable.

Review 52:Location was good

Review 53:A real friendly atmosphere lovely meal and excellent breakfast great location and room was at the back which was lovely and quiet Will definitely stay again

Review 54:nothing, great stay will come back

Review 55:Friendly staff, very clean spacious room, away from the road, parking for the car. The restaurant was excellent, great food.

Review 56:Only minor grumble is the early time for breakfast which finished at 9. 30 When on holiday it is nice to have a lie in.

Review 57:Beautiful comfortable rooms in the new annex. Very quiet and well appointed.

Review 58:Bathroom very dated desperately needs upgrading. Breakfast was just ok,

Review 59:Great location, lots of places to visit. Biscuits and sherry in room nice touch.

Review 60:An ideal base for touring the Cotswolds, or an overnight stay on a long journey. Comfortable room (the complimentary sherry was a nice touch), excellent dinner and breakfast.

Review 61:I could not get wi fi. Also the service at breakfast on day one was superb on day two after watching two other couples receive their toast we ended up having to ask for ours. I found this disappointing.

Review 62:We were staying to attend a wedding. The facilities were brilliant.

Review 63:A last-moment booking, the Redesdale made the end of my day easier than the preceding hours of attempted house-moving! The gratis sherry in my room was a welcoming touch.

Review 64:Lack of a TV in the junior suite sitting room, poorly designed bathroom perhaps even unsafe for older clients, wifi very unreliable in our room.

Review 65:The staff, restaurant and bar, location, food quality and general ambience.

Review 66:Very friendly staff, we were made to feel very welcome. The food excellent - enjoyed breakfast and dinner. Complimentary water and sherry in the room and a glass of Prosecco in the bar - nice touch

Review 67:Absolutely nothing!

Review 68:We were wowed by the little touches when we first arrived: the voucher for a sparkling wine each and the sherry in the room, but it only got better. Every member of staff we spoke to was lovely, service was great and we really loved our upstairs room with its own little staircase - quiet and comfortable. A fantastic place in a fantastic location which really made a special weekend even more so. Thank you!

Review 69:Location was very convenient to the town and Cotswold bus services. Our room was lovely, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast provided the basics on buffet and many additional options from the menu.

Review 70:Our room was on the second floor up a spiral staircase and after a recent hip operation was not the best position.. Also as expected for August was top of price range, so would have expected toiletries renewed for second day..

Review 71:Hotel location was excellent. Staff really helpful .. Food was good. Room was comfortable .. Nice touch with the free drinks on arrival and sherry in room.

Review 72:The bathroom could do with a face lift. Crack in the bath panel, bath chipped. but it was all very clean

Review 73:Been there twice this year. Very friendly staff. Food is good value for money. Breakfast was first class, plenty of it. Very clean too. I hope to stay there again.

Review 74:Staff could have been warmer and more helpful. There was a lack of sincerety and they made a joke about my name when I was checking in which I didn't appreciate). Had to remind them to bring a few things when we were having breakfast, things that the menu said would be brought to our table anyway (toast and milk for our tea).

Review 75:Bed was fantastic! Good location right in the middle of the village. Handy free car park behind the hotel. Really liked how they've renovated the building, keeping older features but updating it too. Nice clean bathroom, good shower. Nice touch to provide drinks in the room. Internet worked well in our room (off the courtyard at the back). Would definitely recommend.

Review 76:Floorboards in bedroom unstable in places, could feel them bend underfoot plus very, very loud squeaking when moving around room.

Review 77:Location and food good..

Review 78:The front dining room does need to improve the ventilation .the atmosphere stifling and detracts from the excellent food served.

Review 79:Good example of a well run Hotel supported by cheerful staff

Review 80:The 'artwork' in the dining room is truly dire, worse than IKEA. Cannot the designers/owners of places like this show a bit more thought when getting things to put on wall?. It is not as if the area is bereft of artists.

Review 81:Dinner was good, and the breakfast excellent. The room quiet, but the walls are a bit thin and noisier neighbours would have been a trial. Massive bed; so large one loses all contact with one's partner.

Review 82:Noisy guests in the dining room in the evening' which spoilt a very enjoyable meal.

Review 83:We have stayed here before and the standard of both room and food have always been first class. Plus always make our stay pleasurable

Review 84:Steep stairs to "garret" style courtyard room.

Review 85:Dedicated parking space outside entrance to room. Good breakfast and well cooked and well presented evening meal.

Review 86:Everything about our stay was excellent and every aspect ran smoothly: the welcome, off-street parking, the free wifi, the comfortable, well-equipped room, complimentary drink before dinner, delicious risotto, perfect cheeseboard. good night's sleep, tasty little croissants with breakfast and a smile from every staff member. Recommended

Review 87:The room had all you needed from bottled water to a carafe of sherry and very comfy beds.Good location and car parking on site.Breakfast was excellent and fresh.

Review 88:The staff were very friendly and good at their job. The location good. The food in the restaurant was lovely. Recommend the twice baked soufle and the cotswold lamb. The breakfast was also very tasty.

Review 89:The over-bath electric shower in our room (No 1) was weak and erratic temperature.

Review 90:The food. Friendly, professional service from staff who seemed happy & enthusiastic. Location

Review 91:Very hard bed and very slim foam pillows meant I slept very badly. My daughter slept well but as I have a bad back the bed was very unsuitable for me.

Review 92:Great location . Lovely bathroom . Friendly receptionist.

Review 93:Shower not the best, nor screen. But ok.

Review 94:Location excellent. Good food, not overpriced & good choice. Staff friendly. Nice room though wouldn't call it a junior suite. Bathroom shower not the best but ok. All in all very good would stay there again.

Review 95:My main criticism was the shower very difficult to get the right temperature, but I hve mentioned it so hopefully it will improve. The bed was not so comfortable for me but I do have a back problem so probably ok for other's.

Review 96:The court yard room was a delight..my mum loved it! We had twin beds and independence.

Review 97:Separate hot and cold faucets in the bathroom, rather than blended temperature

Review 98:Lovely staff, including in the restaurant staff that served us breakfast after we mistakenly came in at closing time.

Review 99:There was nothing to dislike at all.

Review 100:Everything from start to finish was perfect for us, only downside was coming home I would recommend this hotel to everyone .

Review 101:The small touches let it down. The shower isn't sealed well and leaked a lot. The taps have been put in too far away from basin so you get a lot of water on the surfaces and your stuff gets wet. The room is uncomfortably hot, the windows had to be open all the time. It wasn't the biggest room tbh and felt slightly cramped. There was no phone. The bed was two single mattresses put together which can be an odd sleeping experience. There is free sherry which is a bit weird as I don't know anyone who likes sherry. Maybe i'm wrong but it seems a weird thing to offer instead of say a small bottle of red wine which is much more popular. As I said it wasn't a bad experience but it was disappointing and if i'm honest over priced in my opinion.

Review 102:I thought the breakfast was nice. The location is very central and the main building is nice too.

Review 103:Lack of a handle to assist getting in and out of the bath. Would have liked fresh croissants and crisper toast

Review 104:Quiet, comfortable room, plenty of space.

Review 105:we have no complaints with anything with our stay, the weather also made a excellent stay.

Review 106:The staff was so helpful and always willing to help, we have two evening meals in the hotel and the quality and service was excellent.

Review 107:The shower kept altering from boiling to freezing with nothing in between. So unable to shower. When mentioned to reception. No apology of offer of discount.

Review 108:Food was lovely.

Review 109:The room we was in was very dated and Old and needed work doing to it the floors were all un even and the wardrobe very small, we were in room no 7. overall it was ok the restaurant really nice and staff

Review 110:The food was excellent, we had dinner & breakfast and both were of a very high standard. The jacuzzi bath/shower in the room was unexpected and a nice surprise, although it took us quite a while to work out the controls.

Review 111:We had a lovely night at the Redesdale Arms, a return visit after about 7 years and I think it was even better. We stayed in one of the new Mews rooms which was great. We ate in the bar, the food was excellent as was breakfast.

Review 112:Room was very tired and needed updating. Very 80's in style, radiator in bathroom was stuck fully on so very hot in room. Toilet seat chipped and could do with replacing. All areas were very clean though.

Review 113:Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast great. Hotel in perfect location. Complimentary water and sherry provided!!!

Review 114:The room we stayed in no31 was lovely but unable to open windows, so was quite warm

Review 115:Food both in the evening and breakfast was 5*, a great hotel, in great location.

Review 116:The staff from the reception made us feel as if we were bothering by coming earlier than the check in time to drop our bags. They charged us for a map of the area and acted as everything was a huge favour. I was just expecting more for that price.

Review 117:The property is well located, close to the train station. The room was of a very good size, recently done, everything felt clean and comfortable.

Review 118:The manager and staff are a credit to the hotel, extremely friendly and helpful establishment. Superb food in the evening and plenty of choice for breakfast.

Review 119:My steak was a little over done but still tasty...

Review 120:Complimentary bubbly on arrival and a decanter of sherry was a nice touch. Free wifi, parking and friendly staff

Review 121:Next visit we will choose a bedroom suite with a bathroom minus a TV!! We could not understand why mirror was dim. Not good for ladies wishing to put on make-up.However superb staff pointed out it was a TV as well. Not a major problem.

Review 122:Redesdale Arms has real fires, cosy bars, welcoming staff, splendid manager Robert, great food and is in the heart of Moreton on the Marsh. What's not to like? We can't wait to return.

Review 123:Room was cramped with little room for moving about in. The walls are so thin I could hear every noise from neighbours. I found this really uncomfortable, especially when they're on the phone or having private conversations. It also made me worry about creating noise myself such as TV or hairdryer. This was in the new accommodation out back of hotel. So unfortunately, this was not a relaxing stay.

Review 124:Checking in was straight forward, Room was very modern, usual facilities were available but of a good standard. Restaurant staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Food was beautiful. Hotel bar area's and restaurant were very comfortable.

Review 125:Requested double room, had 2 single beds pushed together. Only downside was the edges of the mattresses in the middle were very hard and unpleasant to sleep on. Minor issue though.

Review 126:Room was beautiful, large and bathroom also beautiful with a wonderful shower. Bed was simply enormous! Complimentary drinks were also excellent.
