Reviews for Hydra Icons
Review 1:The owner is really helpful. The cleaningless is at the top and the bed super confortable! Beautiful view of the harbour from the Sofia Loren room. Thank you!
Review 2:Steps leading to the hotel a bit difficult with small children but definitely worth it for that view. We can't wait to stay there again.
Review 3:Owner very polite and helpful. Rooms beautifully decorated. Close to the harbour. Perfect view from the roof (see pic)!
Review 4:I stayed here for 3 nights during a brief visit to Hydra. The room was very comfortable and clean and had everything I needed. The staff was very friendly and helped me get orientated to Hydra. I want to come back!
Review 5:Shower was boiling hot at times, so be carefull! When traveling with suitcases it is a bit of a climb up. No breakfast at the property (but got discount at nice place at the harbor).
Review 6:Picturesque rooms with picturesque views from the sun roof. Clean and comfortable. Helpfull staff.
Review 7:All VERY minor issues; tap over sink too big, curtain in bathroom makes the room too dark when it is pulled, bathroom drain plate loose and potentially dangerous under foot, shower head didn't work (used handheld instead).
Review 8:Excellent staff who went out of their way to accommodate our requests and make us feel welcome. Bright and airy rooms. Within easy walking distance to all harbour facilities. Only a few minutes from harbour. Note to all - EVERYWHERE from the harbour is uphill so don't complain about pulling luggage, take a donkey!
Review 9:The WiFi was intermittent at times.
Review 10:The location is 3 minutes from the harbour. The sheets and bed are really comfortable. The owner is very welcoming. He explained everything like where the beaches, taxis, restaurants are and answered all of our questions. He gave us a book of Hydra which had some history and info with a map of the island. The view was magnificent from Leonard Cohen room. It is a quiet and clean room.
Review 11:The roof deck commands one of the best views of a very beautiful town. The room I stayed in also had beautiful views, and was furnished with stylish simplicity. I'd recommend the place to anyone.
Review 12:Although I arrived at the hotel even earlier than the check-in hours, the staff hurried to the reception desk and really welcomed me to check in. That relieved me quite a lot as it was very hot outside and I was carrying a large suitcase. He was always caring about me whether everything was OK during my stay there. Actually, everything was OK for me!
Review 13:Only bad thing is you have to walk uphill for 5 minutes which can get difficult if you are carrying heavy luggage. Also, no breakfast is provided during accommodation but there is plenty nice coffee/tea etc in the room for free
Review 14:The location is excellent, really close to everything. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms quite stylish and clean. The view from the top roof is awesome and the price reasonable
Review 15:We loved everything!
Review 16:The staff was lovely, very helpful and welcoming! We loved every bit of our stay there! Clean, comfortable bed and has a 360 degree roof terrace. Highly recommend this place!
Review 17:Very helpful host, classy decor and comfort in room, outstanding roof terrace to chill out and enjoy the best views in Hydra. Would highly recommend and love to revisit
Review 18:The executive room (Leonard Cohen) has a beautiful balcony where we had our morning coffee every day with the view of the silent and beautiful town of Hydra. The roof top is more then beautiful. And it is only 5 min walk from town and 10 from the boat.
Review 19:We stayed in 'Leonard Cohen', a small suits with balcony and excellent views on the village. When the host heard that we don't like filter coffee he immediately put a Nespresso machine in our room. When we sat on the roof top terrace he offered a glass of wine.
Review 20:No complaints.
Review 21:We spent two weeks in the Greek islands and the four days in Hyda were hands down our favorite. Icons was the perfect location. Incredibly hospitable host, the most comfortable bed, a great shower, great decor and aesthetic, and a really wonderful rooftop deck with harbor views.
Review 22:I hurt my knee and the walk up stairs to the hotel was painful.
Review 23:Loved the bed!, Sheets, Pillows, top quality, the cleaning woman did the best clean up of my room I have ever seen. She actually hung clothes, folded clothes, restack and organized all of our stuff...she was perfect. George is really amazing, we forget a cable in our room and he found us at the port waiting for our boat to return it.
Review 24:Nothing negative...
Review 25:We had the room with the balcony that has one of the best views in town. There is also a common terrace with an amazing 360 view. The rooms are very stylish, big enough and very clean. The owner was very helpful with information on restaurants, beaches, etc.. Also they are flexible with the check-in and checkout as long as it does not collide with other reservations. In short it was a great stay, probably one of the best places on the island.
Review 26:Nothing! We got a bit cold during the night and there were no warm blankets in the room but I'm sure the staff would bring them if we had asked. It's good to notify the hotel about the time of your arrival.
Review 27:1. 20% discount for breakfast at a great cafe Isalos in the harbor. 2. Modern room, tea and coffee facilities, nice toiletries.
Review 28:We stayed in the Leonard Cohen room, which was stylish, well appointed and clean. The windows and balcony have a gorgeous view towards Hydra port. The hotel staff was attentive and friendly. Yannis, in particular, went out of his way to make sure that we enjoyed our stay.
Review 29:A perfect place to stay in Hydra. Comfortable and quiet. I loved the roof terrace which offers magnificient views of the harbour. The owner is very helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Review 30:- Location was excellent. It is near the the habour but up steep steps (about 45 of them); - Guesthouse manager was so helpful. Boiler did not work first day. I left a note and by the time I got back it had been sorted. - The guesthouse also left me a walking book which was really helpful. The room was very nice and had perfect wifi. - The shared panoramic roof space ha beautiful views of the town and back over the Peloponnese at dusk. - The Icons has an arranged discount deal with a dinner place on the harbour - and that was good (even though there are plenty of nice restaurants to choose from in the twon. - Walking on the island is incredible and guesthouse manager is a good source of information. - A storm hit and I was stuck on the island, unable to get back to Athens for my flight. Icons could not have been more helpful!
Review 31:Close to the port. Friendly, helpful staff. Well appointed room with super comfortable bed. Good wifi signal. Beautiful view from room, very quiet at night.
Review 32:nothing at all.
Review 33:it is a nice, cute hotel, very clean well located. Giannis the owner has been very helpful to us, willing to propose us all the must visited places in Hydra and to bring us everything we needed. The hotel has an excellent view, from its terrace, of the island which is areally breathtaking.. We certainly propose this hotel to everyone!
Review 34:Shower leaked , its a bit of walk up the steps and the lack of lights at night
Review 35:Clean stylish rooms , The owner is really nice and helpful , a great view from the roof top
Review 36:Some guests may struggle with the fairly steep steps up the hill to get to the hotel, but views are worth it.
Review 37:Nice size rooms Rooftop with fantastic views Very comfortable
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:We loved the old captain's mansion which had been very tastefully decorated. The location was minutes away from the port and has the most gorgeous rooftop terrace with views to die for. The manager is the loveliest man. Would stay here again every year if I could.
Review 40:We liked everything! - but would have referred softer towels.
Review 41:Spacious, spotless rooms, modern decor, with a touch of chic. Brilliant showers; the views down into the harbour and out to sea. Yiannis couldn't have been more friendly and helpful
Review 42:Yannis, the host, is very friendly and extremely helpful, he gave us very good tips about where to eat and what to do. Our room (Leonard Cohen) was very spacious and comfortable. The VIEW from the balcony and the roof terrace is fantastic and unbeatable. It was a most pleasant stay for us!
Review 43:I had a lovely time at Hydra icons, not far from heaven :the view from the top roof was amazing. The roomThe owner gave really nice tips on visits, restaurant and helped me carrying my bike to his other guesthouse! PERFECT
Review 44:Hydra Icons - this is without any doubt the very best stay You can choose on the island. Walk up on the steep cobbled stairs and enjoy the astonishing view from the terrace facing Hydra´s harbour.
Review 45:We absolutely loved this hotel. A bit of a climb to reach it,- and it is a steep climb (!), but we actually soon got used to that, and felt we'd earned a rest at the top. Yannis and Christina are both extremely friendly and helpful, -really lovely people. We loved our room, which was the Sophia Loren room. We had fantastic views of the harbour, a large, comfortable bed, and everything sparkling clean, and cleaned daily. Some nights we sat on the bed with drinks and snacks, and just chilled and enjoyed. We'd echo everything good that others who've stayed there have said. And, if we went back to Hydra, we would stay there again. The 360 degree roof terrace is just wonderful, day and night, but one of the most important aspects of this hotel, is the welcome you get from Christina and Yannis, who asked us pretty much daily, if everything was ok, and if we needed anything.
Review 46:Everything was great, the room was beautiful and comfortable. We had forgotten our beach towels but we were given immediately by the Owners of Hydra Icons.
Review 47:Please read above
Review 48:Giannis & Efi are the perfect hosts and gave us advice on where to go and what to do and always made us feel welcomed. Efi was always available and even made coffee for us every morning . The room was cleaned daily and it was immaculate . The views from our balcony ( Leonard Cohen room ) as well as the 360 terrace are to die for and considering that most places in Hydra offer no view, this was a bonus. We will definitely choose Icons to stay in our next visit to Hydra . Thank you Giannis & Efi
Review 49:There are alot of steps outside to reach the hotel and inside the hotel, but this was ok for us as a family with a 10 year old.
Review 50:The staff were helpful. The rooms were lovely, the mattress amazing and the bedding fresh. Korres toiletries in the bathroom. The airconditioning was a blessing.
Review 51:Nothing to dislike!
Review 52:Everything about Hydra Icons is as advertised and is excellent. Staff were always available and ready to help. This was our third stay and we will be back.
Review 53:Steps from port make it unsuitable for people with walking difficulties although there are donkeys if you wish(we wouldn't)
Review 54:The staff were extremely friendly and informative. The Leonard Cohen room is modern & along with the roof terrace has great views. Would return !!!!
Review 55:Wifi. Bad signal
Review 56:Amazing view, nice decor.
Review 57:Helpful owner/manager
Review 58:Perfect view Most friendly staff Clean & modern room
Review 59:The location of Hydra Icons and decoration of the guesthouse rooms are very good. The proprietor, Yannis, is very friendly, kind and helpful.
Review 60:Very kind welcoming host. Traditional architecture and contemporary designed furniture were combined very succesfully.
Review 61:Location, helpful staff, well equipped room
Review 62:The elegant character of the hotel, the view from the rooftop terrace and the friendliness of the owner
Review 63:Yannis could not be mor helpful. Great roof terrace with views all around.
Review 64:Comfortable accommodation and welcoming and helpful host.
Review 65:Loved the rooftop patio with the 360 degree view. The room was great. The staff very accommodating.
Review 66:Bed was great
Review 67:Quiet,clean,comfortable room (we stayed at the executive with the balcony), discrete and helpful staff!
Review 68:Owner was so helpful and hospitable. Views were great, and rooms were very nice and comfortable.
Review 69:none
Review 70:location, room amenities, comfort bed and pillows, cleanliness
Review 71:Views from the room and terrace are excellent. The host was very friendly and helpful. His suggestions of where to eat were great.
Review 72:The owner was very polite, he made our stay as nice as possible (he helped us with the return tickets
Review 73:I liked everything about this place from the incredibly friendly welcome to the magnificent view to the super comfortable bed. Loved loved loved it.
Review 74:Everything
Review 75:Manager Jani and his staff are fabulous hosts. Their feel for service and support is unique. They make every guest feel really special and welcome. From the moment we walked through the door until departure, we were treated like the most important guests. The guesthouse is wonderfully located close to the harbour. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The view from the balcony of the best room (Leonard Cohen) is breathtaking. One day.......we will be back.
Review 76:Nothing really we didn't like.
Review 77:Decor, location was convenient and area was quiet. 360 view from shared terrace was superb. Views from Sofia Loren room. Beautifully kept and clean. Staff excellent and helpful, especially Effie who did some washing for us as we had been travelling for a while.
Review 78:Original and tasteful interior (though simple) Extremely helpful staff, sharing many useful tips for restaurants, sightseeing etc Great location close to the port, yet in an distance assuring quiet nights
Review 79:Beautiful location with roof top terrace overlooking Hydra Port. Staff excellent.love the concept of Icons who have visited or stayed on Hydra...modern rooms with shops and tavernas close by. Would stay again...sad to leave.
Review 80:We paid extra to stay in the Leonard Cohen room, but it still was quite basic, makes me wonder what the less expensive rooms are like. Shower drain became clogged and overflowed (though staff fixed quickly).
Review 81:Near to Hydra port. Nice view from rooftop. Friendly manager, though he manages several hotels so often not at reception, but readily available with a phone call (although no phone in the room, so had to use Skype).
Review 82:We stayed in the Leonard Cohen room at Hydra Icons and loved everything about it! The view of Hydra from our balcony was stunning, and I really enjoyed speaking with Yianni about Hydra. His recommendations for restaurants and things to do were perfect. We hope to return one day!
Review 83:Very clean, comfortable hotel/guest house. Quiet, yet close to the village. The steps that some people complained about where not particularly steep; it was easy to get to.
Review 84:The reception is often empty because the manager has another hotel and goes from one to the other, so you have to call if you need something. The towels were really rough. It's not fun getting dried with sandpaper (I'm exaggerating of course, but they were really abrasive).
Review 85:The room was very nicely decorated. The manager was friendly. Great terrasse on the roof. The beds were super comfortable.
Review 86:The shower room was beautifully decorated, but the drainage didn'twork very well.
Review 87:The small hotel lies very close to the harbour, but you'll have towalk up some stairs (50 steps). We booked the Leonard Cohen-room(executive) based on another review particularly for the view. And itwas indeed spectacular. I'll never forget waking up, opening thecurtains, climbing back into bed and just ly there and look out over thewhite houses and the harbour. This room also comes with a privatebalcony. But if you book one of the other rooms, you can still enjoy theview because the 360-degree-terrace is for all guests and you can seeall around. The second best was the wonderfully soft matras: what arelief after those terribly hard matrasses the Greek seem to like somuch). The hotel doesn't provide breakfast but has a deal with arestaurant where you get a discount. But an alternative is to walk downto a bakery (2 min), buy some croissants for 2 euro, walk back up (2min) and enjoy a nice simple breakfast on the 360 deck. The owner wasvery helpfull and carried our bag down the stairs when we left.
Review 88:The water pressure in the shower wasn't very strong and the airconditioner took a few tries to get it to work.
Review 89:The value for this delightful hotel was fantastic, and the panoramicviews from the rooftop deck were the best in Hydra. Staff was incredibleand very accommodating giving a guide and tips of where to go.
Review 90:I liked everything. The location and the minimalist design of the room-which was spotless. I was in the Leonard Cohen room which was very spacious and comfortable with a great view and private balcony. The guesthouse also has a 180 degree rooftop deck with a great seating area. Upon arriving Yannis, the owner, took time to recommend the best places to eat (which were all fantastic), good hikes and good beaches. The bed and linens were by Coco Mat and it was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Attention was paid to every detail and I hope to stay here again.
Review 91:Nothing not to like! If you are a person with mobility issues you may need to consider the fact that there are some stairs to get there
Review 92:The owner Yannis is amazing. He is very helpful, friendly and most important he focuses on guests experience overall, which makes a huge difference. The hotel photos represent indeed what you get when you arrive there. The deco is airy, made with great taste and good quality. The Coco-Mat beds are an excellent choice for a relaxing sleep. The offer of Korres natural products in the bathroom compliment very nicely the overall experience. The fact that the hotel does not offer breakfast is easily compensated by the breakfast deals Yannis has made for Icons' guests at a beachfront Cafe nearby but facilities for tea and/or coffee are also available in the room. The 360o Veranda is worth spending sometime there. The views are breathtaking!
Review 93:The lack of breakfast eventhough that the hotel provides breakfast discount on a cafeteria near the harbor
Review 94:First of all the owner is a great guy. He was very helpful, honest and told us everything we need to know about where to swim, where to eat, where to go out. The room was very clean. The one that we stayed was small but funcional and very cozy. Wifi was working perfectly. We highly recommend this hotel.
Review 95:Our room didn't have any outlook .. we looked onto an internal courtyard and a narrow laneway. If a view is important to you get the Leonard Cohen room.
Review 96:The room was spacisous and very comfortable with nice decor. The owner and cleaning staff were very nice and very helpful. Lovely rooftop terrace with a great view over town.
Review 97:Everything in this hotel was superb. The owner is very nice, super helpful and polite. We visit Hydra every year and this is our favorite place to stay. Location is good. View from the terrace is breathtaking. Design of the room very clean and modern.
Review 98:Rooms are spacious and modern, really more like apartments except for the lack of cooking facilities. Very quiet location with great views of the harbor yet a short walk from the center of town. A very relaxing place to spend a few days.
Review 99:It is not a hotel but a guest house that was relatively expensive for Greece, particularly since they did not offer breakfast. However, it is very clean and the owners are helpful
Review 100:I didn't like the fact that the price was unjustifiably very high.
Review 101:I liked very much the location and the fact that each room has its own personality. The whole concept is really good.
Review 102:Excellent stuff! Mr Yiannis advice us where to eat, drink and have fun! Really clean and beautiful hotel! The executive suite was as the pictures with very good view!
Review 103:Quite a few very steep stairs, but that is the price you pay for a viewon Hydra. Was about half way up the hill, so not as bad as a lot ofother accommodation.
Review 104:Lovely room with very comfortable bed, deluxe room had great views downto harbour, plenty of cupboard space for belongings and separate sittingroom. Roof top deck had wonderful 360 degree views to harbour and thehills. Charming destination for a short stay. Good value for money. Veryobliging host.
Review 105:Just have in mind there are no bar/breakfast facilities or large common areas.
Review 106:The concept and design, combining modern with traditional with elements of the island's cosmopolitan history. The owner is fantastic, friendly and helpful without being over-bearing. The location is just high enough to enjoy sea views from the terrace but also a charming calm in the middle of the village. Good value for money for Hydra island.
Review 107:Everything was perfect. Friendly, clean, convenient. Will stay there again.
