Reviews for Hampton Hotel

Review 1:No mirror in the bathroom and no shampoo or shower gel. Most serious was on the first night I discovered that the toilet was leaking - and the water on the floor smelt of urine. Dried it up with floor mat and I reported it to reception in the morning. They said they would fix it while I was out during the day. But nothing was done.

Review 2:Convenient location and warm welcome on arrival.

Review 3:Only problem was no wifi in the room but this was really a minor issue for us.

Review 4:The owners were endlessly helpful, just couldn't as for more. Great for the dog. Although there was a pub underneath we couldn't hear any noise in the room.

Review 5:Only one criticism and its unlikely to be solved, it was difficult to get large dogs up lots of flights of stairs around tight corners etc.

Review 6:Staff lovely and friendly, lovely place to stay feels very much like home.

Review 7:We were in a twin room that was too small to be a twin, had no mirror, no soap and one plug socket behind the bed so boiling the kettle was something of a challenge. Whilst the room was clean it was extemely shabby. The parking was full and the hotel directed us to park across the road and ignore the resident only signs, resulting in an embarrassing moment with the proprietor of the butchery who wanted to charge for parking. Poor overall.

Review 8:Only issue was toilet was a bit temperamental but that was easy to sort

Review 9:Very impressed, lovely clean room, decent size for overnight stay, wouldn't hesitate to come again

Review 10:In need of an update and bathroom a bit small.

Review 11:The beds were so comfortable, had a good nights sleep. Good shower and Breakfast was very good value for money

Review 12:We were when at 4am by a man banging the door he was clearly on drugs and was trying to get in his room he continued until 6.30 am wouldn't stop despite us asking him to the people in the room eventually opened the door then started a full on fight it was horrendous there were no security about to tell

Review 13:Nice staff clean room

Review 14:nothing worth reporting. It was a decent experience and adequate facility for what we wanted with friendly staff in a good location for 50 quid. The hotel 100 metres up the road had better facilities but was 128 per night. As we were in the hotel less than 14 hours I did the maths n plumped for the 50 quid version. Enough said!

Review 15:Good location right on the Main Street but not exceptionally busy so no issues with noise from our bedroom. There was car parking at the rear but full up when we arrived at 9pm, however no issues parking on street across the road. Bog standard room but had clean en suite and good shower, beds were average but spotless. staff were friendly and breakfast was above average. Good value for 50 quid if you just want to get your head down, have a decent brekkie and move on. It's a beautiful part of the world, a 2 minute drive from the lake and a minute from the train station. I would recommend.

Review 16:Bed sheets had hair in them, and when asked for clean ones we had to fit ourselves. Lumps of dust in carpet joints and the Bathroom Lino was lifting in corners.

Review 17:Receptionist was friendly

Review 18:The room was quite hot, making the night a less comfortable than I would have liked. Tried opening windows but that didn't help too much.

Review 19:The location and the food, both the Chinese in the evening and the breakfast, were really nice!

Review 20:I had trouble with the wi-fi but it worked fine for others in our group.

Review 21:Very helpful staff, clean rooms with good showers, good breakfast and secure parking for motorcycles.

Review 22:Breakfast isn't served until 0730, and since I needed to leave at that time beacause I work on site as a contractor I could not have breakfast during my stay although I had paid for it. Small tight car park

Review 23:Clean En-suite room

Review 24:leaking kettle and toilet took a few flushes to flush

Review 25:ideal place to stay if you are using it for overnight working stay not the place for family stop over though.

Review 26:Car parking offered in booking but none available after arrival. Hotel should have advertised "limited parking spaces available" Free wifi offered. However it was only available in reception- this should also have been made clear during booking. VERYstale teabags in room. No designated powerpoint for kettle in room. Had to plug in to powerpoint behind bed. Obvious safety issue here. Plug in minute bathroom sink not working. No soap. Towels thin and one stained. Stained carpet in room.

Review 27:Comfy bed. Adequate breakfast

Review 28:Booked very late for overnighter 5 - 6th September so only double room available was at back of hotel, with bath but no shower. However, Hampton are in the process of finalising room refurbs and in fairness most rooms have already had this carried out. Could't get Room radiator to work but heating probably off due to the good weather during the day (a plus was plenty of hot water though!). Limited hotel parking spaces - but other free parking within 40 yards of hotel.

Review 29:Vey friendly staff, English Breakfast in the attached Chinese Restaurant was absolutely brilliant. Evening Chinese buffet very nice and reasonably priced. Free pool table and Bar/Lounge open until midnight. Comfortable night's sleep. Accomodation very good value for money Recommended, would definitely stay again. AAA+++

Review 30:Single room was not like those in the pictures, much smaller. Pillows a bit thin and the duvet was too small.

Review 31:Friendly welcome, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Plenty of tea and coffee. Great value especially for a Saturday night stay.

Review 32:Stayed on a Monday so most restaurants closed. Ended up eating a Chinese buffet. Not good. Food cold and poor choice.

Review 33:Good location for Builth wells. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel good value for money. Friendly staff and clean.

Review 34:We liked the location ,friendly staff . Good parking either in car park or street. Room we had was very clean with comfortable beds and a new bathroom . Although looking out over a road and located over a bar the room was not noisy. Breakfast was very efficiently served and plenty of choice, We felt the hotel was very good value.

Review 35:The room lacked some basic amenities but had just been refurbished so had still to be finished off. Lots of stairs to climb.

Review 36:Friendly staff excellent location near to all amenities. Good value. Good well cooked breakfast.

Review 37:Slug slime all around the carpeted floor by our breakfast table, when we informed the breakfast staff they said they would let the evening staff know about it and did nothing to clean it up. Also prawn crackers and mess on the floor was obviously not cleared up from the evening before. (the breakfast seating area is also a Chinese buffet place on an evening)

Review 38:Location, Friendly staff

Review 39:WiFi didn't always work in the room.

Review 40:Very good value for money. The room (no 1) was quiet, spacious and comfortable. Even our dog felt at home from the start. Nice, powerful shower in the bathroom. Friendly staff.

Review 41:There was no hot water on the first morning because the boiler had broken. The staff explained and were very apologetic.

Review 42:Friendly, clean, nice vegan breakfast and the lady got soya milk for me.

Review 43:Nothing.

Review 44:We had a great time! Basic but very comfortable accommodation. Good bar, Chinese restaurant attached! All very reasonably priced. Happy staff, friendly locals. Lovely town. value for money..

Review 45:The bed was uncomfortable and no head board so pillows kept slipping down the back in the night.

Review 46:Staff where nice was clean and breakfast was included in price good for a weekend getaway.

Review 47:both wifi signals were very weak in our room. could not check emails, news or fb

Review 48:Although basic every thing was clean and comfortable. good value for money.

Review 49:Town is a bit rundown, limited places to eat in the evening other than in the hotel's linked Chinese restaurant

Review 50:Spacious rooms, generally clean and tidy, good breakfast choices

Review 51:Staff were great secure parking for the bikes brill , very clean all through , even the locals were brill along with free pool table great juke box and all round good prices

Review 52:We were very disappointed at how basic the room was for what we had paid for it. No bedside lamps, no headboards. The beside cabinet was very wobbly and we had to ask for an iron. In the morning following shower, we realised there was no hairdryer (although it stated when booking that one would be available) in the room. It was very early as we needed to get to the show so we were unable to ask staff for one. Just little things but very annoying at the time and certainly not worth the money we paid at £100

Review 53:We couldn't fault the food. We had evening meal at the chinese buffet restaurant which was lovely and excellent value. The breakfast was lovely too with plenty of choice and a tasty cooked breakfast, :-)

Review 54:Welcome non existent, had to report to the bar where we were stared at by customers. No hot water in the morning...unable to shower or wash before leaving.

Review 55:Breakfast was lovely, feshly cooked and plenty of choice. Breakfast staff were lovely. Room clean and comfortable

Review 56:Free wifi didn't work in the second floor rooms that we had.

Review 57:Hotel was clean and the rooms spotless. Breakfast was fantastic and the onsite all you can eat Chinese superb value for money.

Review 58:No hot water on the first morning of our stay. (the boiler had not been switched on). No mirror in the bathroom. No space for personnel toiletries. Paintwork and surroundings very tired.

Review 59:Bar staff amazing.

Review 60:There was some water damage in one spot on the ceiling of the room which was peeling.

Review 61:Very friendly and accommodating staff, very clean and comfortable room and amenitites. Breakfast was delicious as well. Great value for the price

Review 62:Liked everything , staff very friendly and welcoming , rooms were clean and tidy , comfy bed ,thoroughly enjoyed our stay ...would definetly recommend

Review 63:The hotel could use a WiFi repeater for the upper floors - although we were given a code for free WiFi, the hub was too far away to connect! (NB: staff might have been able to help with this; we didn't ask as it wasn't a major issue for us.)

Review 64:Very friendly, helpful staff and it looked as though the place had either been recently refurbished or looked after very well. The hotel is over a pub, but sound proofing is excellent.

Review 65:wi-fi was not available in our room. We needed to go into the reception area, which was inconvenient.

Review 66:The Chinese buffet was great and they got up early to give us breakfast

Review 67:with being summer need blackout blinds in rooms light from 4.30am, Wifi poor/none upstairs,

Review 68:Location for event was Good, Breakfast was nice :-), Would stay again

Review 69:TV was an old box 10" tv which was perched on top of the wardrobe hard to watch. bathroom very small if you are a bigger person you would struggle to sit on the toilet. was fairly clean

Review 70:free wifi location breakfast was nice Staff was friendly and helpful Carpark (but very limited spaces)

Review 71:Had a room at the front of the hotel so there was a bit of noise from traffic early evening no problem through the night. Curtains were very thin so there was lots of light in the room from the many street lights, blinds would solve this.

Review 72:Good location for Builth Wells showground. Great Chinese all you can eat restaurant & lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. Newly decorated, spacious clean room. Friendly attentive staff.

Review 73:On my first morning the shower door fell off before I could use it ! This was soon fixed but on the 2nd morning I found that only the cold tap of the shower produced water ! I was then offered another room but chose to stay as I didn't want to unsettle my young dog. There was plenty of hot water for the washbasin . A mirror in the bathroom would have been nice - there was a holder for an extending shaving mirror but no mirror !!

Review 74:The room was clean, comfortable & warm & ideal for my border collie & I to stay for 4 nights. I was also pleased to be able to use the car park. I only met a couple of the staff but they were very friendly & helpful. I would be very happy to stay there again

Review 75:The mirror was not on the wall in the bathroom, and as with lots of hotels, nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom.

Review 76:It is a clean hotel with new carpets throughout, recently decorated with very clean bed and bathroom. Good value for the area.

Review 77:Nothin not to like.

Review 78:We arrived as a couple having originally booked s single room. There were no double rooms left but the owner gave us an extra pillow & duvet and did not charge us any extra. Good clean room & central location along with a very low price, I would recommend to any travellers on a budget!

Review 79:No hairdrier in the room

Review 80:Good clean hotel. Have booked again for the summer. Fantastic value for money. An added bonus is the attached chinese restraurant, serving great food at a good price.

Review 81:Despite running the bar for both the hotel & restaurant I was very impressed by the friendly welcome, plus a rundown of all the places to eat ! The room was both spotless and comfortable. I

Review 82:The breakfast was good, though it would have been nice to have an option other than a full english for the cooked breakfast. The tea and coffee was also premade and it would have been nice to have the opportunity to have this fresh and steaming hot, saying that it was still delicious and I happily cleared my plate.

Review 83:Parking was available with no problem. I booked a double and it was a large room, actually a family room with a double and a single. While relatively basic it has all the comforts expected tea, coffee and biscuits, there were fresh clean fluffy towels and what i have to say was the best shower i have ever experienced in a B&B. We were given a choice of breakfast times and a code to get in if we returned after 11pm so very flexible.

Review 84:Constant shrieking, foul language and even a fight broke out in the pub downstairs. Broken glass all over the floor, which hadn't even been cleared up the next day! Would never have stayed here if we'd known it was a pub!

Review 85:The room was clean, the bed was comfy.

Review 86:Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel, for the price I was impressed with the standard of the room, it was clean and comfortable with all the basics we required. The staff were always helpful and the Chinese buffet restaurant downstairs was excellent. Would defiantly stay here again if in the area.

Review 87:I was greated by very friendly staff, who were very helpful. Rooms are basic but very comfortable. Breakfast was toast or cereal followed by full english which was just what I needed before a day at the cob sales. Will definitely be staying here again..

Review 88:Bed with springs sticking up. The pluming was worse then terrible. had a bath fitted which the hot water tap refused to offer more then a trickle. no shower available , so no way of washing, except by the sink, which sounded like a pneumatic drill. draw handle can off in hand. bath room window sealed shut with paint. no heating in room , they did provide us with a little fan heater. kettle didn't work, (they did swap) .

Review 89:could take my dog in .

Review 90:The rooms are all up a flight of stairs so if you have knee probs like me its a bit difficult but staff are lovely and helpful and will carry things up for you

Review 91:Very friendly check in, helped up the stairs with my dog cage and bag, very pleasant and large room, clean and comfy, would go back there for sure

Review 92:See above comments also. Avoid Room 5! It is on the main street. Smokers and foul-mouths below window. We were woken at 2.30am by someone banging on the front door and swearing. Shortly after that the same man beat his female partner up outside our window. She then howled+screamed until 4am after which the man hit her again. We were then disturbed by 2 males in the hotel who were having a loud drunken discussion at 5am. Oh, and we were overcharged! Booking.com quoted us £49 and they took £50. We didn't stay for breakfast and left at 7am. I think you should give us a refund or a voucher for £50 as compensation. The recommendations are all lies on their website. This place is to be avoided at all costs.

Review 93:Nothing. The rooms stank of stale cigarettes, there was no ventilation, window or mirror in bathroom. Towels were stained.

Review 94:The bar clientele were a little weird. However, we did notice later there was another bar with 'normal' people!

Review 95:Provided secure parking for our motorcycles, upgraded our rooms after they realised we had booked twin rooms not doubles! and a brilliant breakfast too. Excellent place will go again. Also a very good Chinese Restaurant attached.

Review 96:Parking was a bit of a problem. No restaurant attached to the hotel - only a Chinese one! Not much use if you don't like Chinese food!

Review 97:The price was very good - which was reflected in the very basic facilities. It was fine for a quick one night stay.

Review 98:Parking a little difficult but sorted. Room at front of house noisy at night with lorries etc.

Review 99:Large clean room with shower room. Plenty of room for our dogs (take a dog crate). Staff helpful and available. Near to lots of shops, cafe's, restaurants and a small park. Bed very comfy.

Review 100:The shower room was tiny with barely enough room to turn around. As it was in a pub it was quite noisy until after midnight. Having to eat breakfast in a Chinese restaurant was not good and there was no alternative to a cooked breakfast.

Review 101:The location was excellent for my visit.

Review 102:the chair in the room could have been cleaner or of better quality . there could have been a blind on window for privacy esp. when making tea in morning as facilities were in window.

Review 103:the owners gave the impression they were trying to improve with a limited amount of finance 2. the symbiotic nature of the Chinese restrurante , public house and hotel the price was good. staff friendly

Review 104:As it was on a main road and above a pub there was a little noise, but we were on the top floor so this was minimal.

Review 105:Prime location and helpful staff! We arrived absolutely starving and the lady that showed us to our room was more than happy to reccomend some late night places nearby. Lovely powerful shower and very clean.

Review 106:Nothing

Review 107:Made to feel very welcome, staff very courteous. Room basic but for the price paid, excellent in every way including a very comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable. Thankyou for a great nights stay.

Review 108:VERY VERY SMALL ROOM BED VERY UNCOMFORTABLE VERY SMALL BATHROOM, MY COLLEAGUE WHO IS A LARGER PERSON STRUGGLED TO GET IN AND OUT OF HIS

Review 109:Shower was ok

Review 110:No shaving mirror in the bathroom and when we first arrived there was a group of drunken guys in the small car park, which was not ideal for our 4 year old daughter to have to walk through.

Review 111:Good value for money and fully inclusive breakfast was a bonus. We paid £69 for 2 adults and 1 child. Staff were friendly and helpful and answered our queries quickly (3rd towel and no TV remote, both solved in minutes). They even moved their own car so we could park.

Review 112:Very sparse room, no pictures,No bedside lights, no shelf in bathroom for toiletries, No loo roll holder. Lack of power points. With a little TLC and attention to detail could be very nice.

Review 113:Reasonable sized room, comfortable bed, clean if mis- matched linen, clean bathroom. Good supply of tea, coffee etc, plus excellent biscuits. Did not have time for breakfast so unable to comment.

Review 114:Wish it had a lift

Review 115:Staff were so helpful carrying my dog cages up the stairs for me , gave me a family room with lots of room for myself and my two Airedale Terriers , very clean and tidy would stay here again !!!

Review 116:Staff very friendly and welcoming. room clean, complementary biscuits and soap a nice touch. All you can eat Chinese restaurant was fabulous great food. would stay again if in the area. Lovely lake for a stroll within 5 mins walk.

Review 117:Rooms a little small especially single room... 24 Bit passed its best in decor although they are in the throes of upgrading. New bathroom (no bath but great shower) fitted with mirror light but no mirror ... yet! Toilet cistern gaiter leaked fresh water when flushed. Told staff but nothing done when we left two days later... no big deal tho.

Review 118:Friendly staff Biker friendly Superb breakfast Clean rooms Nice room... room 30

Review 119:I liked our room where we stayed just one night but It was very nice big room.Breakfast was nice. The staff was nice very helpfull.Very quiet room ,no disturbance. I will definitely come back soon.

Review 120:I had a room facing the Main Street...extremely noisy. The room was not properly cleaned and towels were not changed until asked.

Review 121:Secure parking for motorcycles. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.

Review 122:Everything. The room was so small my husband and I had to move out of the way so that the other could move around. The en-suite bathroom was too small to towel yourself dry without opening the door and moving out into the bedroom, which was very sparse and poorly appointed. Breakfast was served in a Chinese buffet restaurant which was part of the building and there were bowls placed on the floor of this room to catch a water leak which was coming through the ceiling. The young man who was cooking breakfast couldn't understand what a poached egg was and I received fried. I do speak very clear English but he was Chinese! My husband said his full English was fine. We had to have the bedroom window open because of the weather but it was quite noisy in the street below. We will NEVER go to this hotel again. It was truly awful. We are not 5 star travellers so didnt expect luxury but this was one of the worst places we have ever been in. That is the whole truth.

Review 123:All the stairs - next time we book we'll ask for a room a bit lower down.

Review 124:The room was comfortable Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked The staff were cheerful and so helpful

Review 125:No complimentary shampoos or shower gel, one bath towel and one hand towel between two. Very warm room although it was one of the hottest days

Review 126:The friendly staff and quite clean rooms, the bonus was the bar and drinks

Review 127:Room was very clean and comfortable with double aspect windows making it light and airy. The hotel has obviously been newly refurbished and was brilliant value for money. Would highly recommend.

Review 128:Room was stifling hot, right next to a busy road. This is ok if you pay the £30 B&B rate on their sign outside but I paid almost £100 a night! Badly in need of updating.

Review 129:Very clean room

Review 130:The property is 'tatty' in parts. No WIFI in my room. No mirror in the bathroom making shaving somewhat difficult. Drunks in the public bar opposite the 'lounge bar' consuming what appeared to be a takeaway curry.

Review 131:our room was very small and basic, but we knew this before we went.was the only room available.m sure there were better rooms.

Review 132:convenient to what we wanted

Review 133:The outlook of the room was a brick wall with a dirty ledge covered in cigarette ends. One of our twin rooms had no wardrobe, just hangers hanging under the TV. Breakfast not very appetising, juices and yogurts Tesco everyday

Review 134:The only evening meal on offer was the Chinese buffet that the dinning room turned into at night, would have great if we were not on a healthy eating plan at the time.

Review 135:Great location for where I needed to be, breakfast was very good.

Review 136:Locking the door on the inside was a problem (Room 14) took a lot of fiddling about to get it locked. Fine on the outside. Staff were helpful in demonstrating the 'knack' but the lock basically needs adjusting properly, not fiddling around.

Review 137:Excellent breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful.
