Reviews for White Hart Royal
Review 1:An amazing building in a great location. We stayed in the Oxford Garden room, which was so beautiful and the peace very relaxing. Food in the hotel was excellent - ate there both nights (pie of the day was to die for!), as well as breakfast - seriously good kitchen. All staff were very friendly and we felt welcomed and well looked after.
Review 2:Room service was excellent, food was very good and available in the fine dinning restaurant or in the bar. The room was very good and comfortable. and was just what we needed between xmas and the new year.
Review 3:Cobblestone floor in reception was very quaint but a nightmare for anyone unsteady on legs, like my wife. Didn't know they offered breakfast until our third day there. Should have been mentioned at registration.
Review 4:Nice sized room with a very comfortable bed. Clean, large bathroom. Excellent meals. A cozy snug on a rainy, chilly afternoon. Bartender was busy and acted a bit harried. Food excellent and varied. Large menu.
Review 5:Was given the room in the courtyard that had been adapted for people with disabilities, that alone was not the problem as it was very modern and clean however the noise from the air conditioning/ electrical unit outside was so bad through the night that we had no sleep and the following morning had to ask to be moved, this was done immediately, however lack of sleep on that first night of a two night stay ruined our break and despite a small reduction in our fee and the staff being very apologetic and efficient moving us to a room within the hotel (where the rooms decoration needed some attention, looked tired and needed an update)it couldn't make up for not being well rested to enjoy the rest of our break.
Review 6:The location was central ,charming building and breakfast was well presented and delicious
Review 7:An extremely cramped double room with what appeared to be a queen size bed. Impossible to sit at the desk except sitting on the bed or rearranging the furniture. Television could only be watched from the bed.
Review 8:ordered rump of lamb for evening meal. it was the smallest portion i have ever received. hence i woulnt go back
Review 9:comfortable rooms with nice bar facilities
Review 10:No bad experience. Food good and hearty but not a lot for those with a smaller appetite
Review 11:This must be our favourite Inn: the combination of lakeview, real fires, comfortable chairs, good ale and friendly staff make it perfect regardless of the weather
Review 12:Staff were great and very helpful, there was a mix up with our booking (we had a small dog and also wanted a room with a bath) but this was sorted out quickly and efficiently and we were given a free upgrade - great customer service. Breakfast was great and we had a lovely meal at dinner, wonderfully cooked food, great service, excellent value.
Review 13:Poor bathroom, hand held shower above bath in eaves. Difficult to use without crouching down. Hayloft, a modern room with a few fake beams. Inadequate hanging or drawer space. Dinner, long wait, tender but dry steak
Review 14:Helpful reception staff
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Well looked after. Well run hotel by owners who take a pride in their place. Comfortable, quiet, clean. Lovely breakfast. Quality food. Excellent birthday function. Well served and presented food. Great puddings.
Review 17:Our room (The Hayloft) was not very clean. It smelt when we entered (even though the windows had been left wide open), the carpet looked dirty, the bathroom floor was very dirty, there was thick dust on the exposed beams and there was no shower in this room. For the price it was not good enough. also, n the restaurant the crockery was not very clean.
Review 18:The location was perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 19:The Hotel was grubby round the edges, a little attention to the cleaning wouldn't go a miss. Expected the room to be larger, photos misleading, not able to have full English as only smoked bacon available, can not eat smoked food, big part of stay. Not shown the lounge so, didn't know about it till after we left. The bedroom was so hot even with no heating on. leading to restless nights sleep. As this was for our silver wedding very let down, over all POOR
Review 20:Leaving!!!!!
Review 21:We found 100% 1st class service from all members of the staff, couldn't fault anything our stay was truly amazing, the king Charles room is outstanding.
Review 22:Clean and tidy as it should be with friendly helpful staff, nice food and brilliant location smack in the centre of Morten in Marsh, also great value for money for this part of the country.
Review 23:Interior decoration could be improved, wood chip paper and frayed throws on bed
Review 24:good for visiting local area, interesting quaint old building excellent breakfast
Review 25:If I had anything bad to say, it would be that our room was on a busy street/intersection, but "busy" in Moreton-in-Marsh is not so bad!
Review 26:The location was perfect, the rooms cozy, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. It was a five minute walk to the train station and food market, and right on main street with some great little shops - including a sweet shop you must stop in! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Review 27:Some of the character lost, eg spotlights in bar and lounge room not really need
Review 28:Character of the room and Inn. Very comfortable to have very chilled out weekend break.
Review 29:In room dining drink sizes and prices are larcenous. Could use a few more plugs. How about having a power strip somewhere in the room. Staff missed a wakeup call and mishandled a taxi to a dinner reservation. BUT - they're very nice and sincere an helpful. They just need to tune up the follow-through.
Review 30:Loved the shower. The bed and pillows were excellent. Location relative to tube station very good. The room service food is a great bargain. It tastes wonderful and after coming home beat it made eating "in" a reasonable. choice.. Shower head mmmmmmmmm
Review 31:The attitude of all the staff was excellent. Even when we complained of the room given to us on the first night - the duty manager immediatly responded and found us a replacement - even moved our belongings!all
Review 32:Our room was a long hike up and through corridors. Plain but comfortable. Lighting and lamps not great for reading.
Review 33:The historic building was just right, the dinner was excellent. The pub was friendly and comfortable with various rooms to frequent. A lovely lounge with couches. Excellent fabrics and decorations there.
Review 34:Staff not professional at all. Quite rude. Gave us the room on the end, opposite the noisy air conditioner, and right next to the noisy food storage facility despite having booked a room approx 6 months in advance. When we inspected it and returned to reception and questioned why we were given a room with facilities for disabled people (there was no separate shower or bath just this huge open space-not romantic at all) the man at reception corrected me by saying it was a "medically assisted" room in an unfriendly dismissive way, and that the rooms are only allocated a week before. No apologies on how inappropriate the room was for us. Nothing. We insisted on changing and was told there was only one room left. We took it. This room was fine. Breakfast was a disaster. Felt like we were in Faulty Towers. No tables available, and when we did get one we waited an eternity for our hot meal which was served separately to the buffet cold offerings. Odd. The muffin in both our Hollandaise eggs were still frozen in the middle, unable to cut through at all! Wait staff friendly and polite but they untrained.
Review 35:Thankfully we only booked one night.
Review 36:Mostly Moreton on Marsh, so the location. Great for trains, but not the loveliest of towns or most practical. Also while the staff tried to be helpful with bus schedules, they didn't have good knowledge of the system. That could improve.
Review 37:Liked the services and the pub. The two bottles of water every day were much appreciated. The staff were very nice and eager to help. Room was very fine.
Review 38:Very welcoming and professional staff. Beautiful hotel, rooms and facilities. Accommodated our request for an early check in at no additional cost. Highly recommend!
Review 39:The staff were amazing and the food was incredible! Rooms beautifully decorated and situated in the heart fontina beautiful Cotswold town... It was our Anniversary celebration and we were greeted with a special card and chocs on the pillow, as well as a special message with our dessert, from the chef at dinner. A big Shout Out to Andy and the Team! Didn't want to leave...
Review 40:Cobbled entrance hard to walk on and/or steer luggage. Didn't eat in snug bar as a drink earlier in day revealed sticky unclean tables - very unappealing.
Review 41:Great location to train station hotel room clean, staff OK
Review 42:The staff were very accommodating in trying to provide service to any request. They accommodated an early check in, offered coffee while I waited, and made me feel like a valued guest. The room set-up was very adequate, with tea making facilities, and a generous supply of towels.
Review 43:Unfortunately, there were technical problems with the kitchen equipment, so only a limited menu was available in the restaurant
Review 44:Lovely, comfortable suite, but a bit pricey.
Review 45:Small thing, but for the attention to detail they do take, the duvet and duvet covers were cheaply made and a bad fit.
Review 46:The staff were very friendly. The accommodation was good. Lovely characterful buildings.
Review 47:Part of the shower attachment was missing, on running the bath the water shot up through the hole in the shower attachment.
Review 48:Friendly attentive staff, lovely room, first class dinner.
Review 49:We had issues with air conditioner. Might have been our unfamiliarity with this particular type of unit.
Review 50:Excellent location for travelling the Cotswolds. Staff was professional and helpful. Moreton in Marsh was very old but wonderful place to be.
Review 51:Our room was at the back of the reception so we could not get any sleep because a private party was going on. Finally got to sleep about 1 am when the party stopped.
Review 52:We had a lovely large room which was full of character. Lovely hotel.
Review 53:the staff in the restaurant were young and tended to chat amongst themselves rather than clear tables and attend to guests requirements
Review 54:location and style of hotel suited us
Review 55:Ground floor room in a car park. Staff outside smoking most of the time. Ground floor rooms used for dogs (our room being one) had carpets and consequently smelt of dogs & were unclean. Room not serviced properly, bins not emptied & nothing topped up.
Review 56:Very good location in the centre of town
Review 57:Very busy and noisy main A44, constant traffic day and night
Review 58:Location was a good base to explore the Cotswolds, lovely hotel and friendly staff, food and parking was good
Review 59:Breakfast was a bit slow but that was the only negative thing
Review 60:Fantastic hotel and great reception staff Room Noir was amazing - recommend it Great food Great staff
Review 61:I didn't have any bad experiences. However I wasn't really impressed with the main dinner menu options. There were lots of alternative eating places nearby
Review 62:Olde worlds atmosphere
Review 63:This must be top end of 3* rating, stayed in some hotels supposedly 3* which are well below the White Hart Royal. Breakfast on Saturday starts at 0800, I had to leave by then for a charity motorbike ride. The chef started breakfast at 0730 for me :-)
Review 64:We arrived at 1.30p.m. We spent nearly two hours trying to find parking. The hotels parking spaces at front full. The cramped parking through a side entrance was cooked with cars, there being few parking spaces. We tried whole town but no spaces being a market day. We tried phoning reception to ask for help.I was unattended according to ansaphone machine. We gave up sent bookings.com a mail to say we had to motor on . I now wait to see if I am charged a no show fee!!!!! I also hear from business friends hotel is not what it used to be
Review 65:Staff were very polite and couldnt do enough for you. Hotel was ideally situated and had a lovely courtyard with tables and chairs for alfresco dining.
Review 66:Very noisy on our first night. Didn't get to sleep until 3.00a.m. due to noise on the square at the front of the hotel.
Review 67:Friendly staff and good food
Review 68:The only criticism was the room was very warm and stuffy as a very sunny warm day. The windows were difficult to open and traffic noise was a little bit annoying however, nothing enough o complain about.
Review 69:It was a nostalgia trip with my mum. It did what we needed. Meals were excellent and service in restaurant was excellent.
Review 70:The breakfast was atrocious. The bacon was hard like it had been left there for ages or gone off. Didn't get the whole breakfast as advertised. Some of us on our table had 2 sausages, whilst others had 1, some people hadn3 bits of bacon, others had 1. Breakfast was a shambles. However, it was the only bad thing.
Review 71:The beds were very comfortable!
Review 72:Our room was in front on very noisy street. Had to keep window open for cool air. Very very busy street. We didn't think our room Was very nice for the cost. Would not stay again.
Review 73:Staff. Was excellent.
Review 74:The Hotel has charm and character, the Staff were very welcoming and enthusiastic. Julie was especially helpful with our lost luggage claim. Loved the "Snug"bar for evening meals
Review 75:Be prepared for no air conditioning which is to be expected in a Hotel of this age. However the High Street and the courtyard can be noisy at night so it was difficult to decide whether to have the window open on a very warm night and suffer the noise or close the window and suffer the heat. The selection at breakfast is great but my Eggs Benedict arrived cold.
Review 76:A very atmospheric hotel with helpful and friendly staff.
Review 77:The shower was poor , room suffered from traffic noise from early til late and was also very warm. Had to ask for radio playing in restaurant during breakfast to be turn down as we found it very irritating
Review 78:The town is lovely offering many different places to eat and staff at hotel were very pleasant .very comfortable bed
Review 79:The room we had was designed for handicapped people. Therefore, it is a bit inconvenient to use the shower/toilette as they are more suitable for handicapped people. The shower space is therefore too large and the seat of the toilette is too high for me. This information was not shown in booking.com when I made booking. I did not really care about this, but it would be good to indicate it first.
Review 80:The staffs were very helpful and friendly. I left my very important stuff rabbit in room in a hurry check-out. The kind lady in reception quickly helped find it back after I called to check its whereabouts! Really appreciated. When I asked about local restaurant info, the staffs also quickly helped to check it out.
Review 81:Breakfast wasn't brilliant sausage wasn't cooked although. We asked for it it.was white when it came out
Review 82:Location being clean and friendly staff
Review 83:Our experience was good
Review 84:We liked our large and comfortable room and well appointed bathroom. The location is perfect for those wishing to explore the Cotswolds.
Review 85:We booked a stable room which was very nice, but what we didn't know until after the first night that we were adjoining staff quarters when you could hear them up and down stairs late evening and early morning and also the plumbing in that block was noisey whenever someone flushed the toilet the cistern seemed to go on forever and just as you thought the noise had finished it seemed to reach a crescendo. The room was very hot and you had no option than to put the air con on which after a few minutes made a buzzing noise then go off then repeat the cycle so wouldn't recommend room 302
Review 86:Central for the Cotswolds
Review 87:Bed a little hard but I'm clutching at straws as the hotel was fantastic and just what we wanted for the weekend.
Review 88:Stayed at the White Hart Royal due to friends having a naming day for their little girl in Moreton in Marsh. The hotel is in a superb location and the staff were fantastic all weekend to us. They couldn't do enough for us and going out their way to make our stay comfortable. Room was a little tired but in general the hotel is in great condition.
Review 89:Breakfast service too slow. Menu suggests that you inform staff if in a hurry, I did when ordering but it didn't make any difference. Wi Fi too weak to send email!
Review 90:The friendly welcome, nice food in the bar.
Review 91:We had an odd experience with food service staff, twice. At dinner the waitress ignored us for so long that we actually had to get menus for ourselves, and then after a much longer wait, had to eventually call for her to notice us. It was not busy, only a few tables were engaged. She passed by us a number of times without even saying she'd be with us soon or to acknowledge us in any way. The SAME thing happened the next morning at breakfast - different waitress, but exactly the same treatment. Guests who arrived after us were waited on. I eventually had to go to the waitress to give my order. She told my daughter ( a grown woman) she couldn't have an item that a person who came in after us was served as we dined. Odd. This was something we've never experienced elsewhere. We dress well. we weren't loud or abrasive, or demanding. This really soured my impression of our stay. Was there a "problem" with two women traveling alone? I've never run into this before.
Review 92:Location, it is perfectly located close to the train, right in the midst of this pretty little town. The hotel has a bar, restaurant and a lovely brick outdoor dining option; Food was quite good; gracious front desk. Rooms are old, but serviceable. They are not well appointed in the traditional style of the building. The furnishings are disappointingly "cheap modern", and beware: no air-conditioning. But aside from that, it was a comfortable stay.
Review 93:None!
Review 94:The White Hart is the perfect boutique hotel. The accommodation is excellent and the staff were very good. The restaurant had an excellent menu, and the best breakfasts! We enjoyed a perfect stay.
Review 95:The main road outside the hotel is very noisy, and parking is a bit hit and miss. Breakfast needs a bit of attention - croissants not baked properly etc.
Review 96:The hotel has a good restaurant - and bar which serves the same food. Very cheerful service throughout the hotel.
Review 97:No bad experiences.
Review 98:Friendly staff, very accommodating. We asked for a sandwich when we arrived at the hotel late and although the kitchen was closed the night porter was extremely helpful and put together a beautiful selection of very tasty sandwiches, quiches and even a small fruit tart each. More than what were expecting. A pleasant surprise.
Review 99:Not a lot, but I really didn't like the darkness of the two rooms I was in, and the fact that in the twin room we couldn't see out of a window. When inside the room it was impossible to know what the weather was doing outside. Also we were a bit disappointed that the menu was the same every day, including the specials menu. There weren't any options for a salad type meal, or to have salad with a meal as an alternative to hot vegetables. However the food when it came to the table was very well cooked and well presented and hot - always a bonus.
Review 100:The friendlyness & helpfulness of all the staff, but particularly Tracey, and in the restaurant particularly Sarah.
Review 101:Our dessert took half an hour to arrive, but the staff were very apologetic and it was delicious.
Review 102:The welcome was warm, the room was comfortable and clean, a fan was thoughtfully provided, the food was excellent. The restaurant staff were polite and helpful. The historic aspect of the hotel was an added bonus!
Review 103:Our room (Stable 302) next to a storage area was rather noisy at night - a lot of activity on the stairs running alongside the room.
Review 104:Food very good, staff helpful.
Review 105:Whilst we understand all the problems of listed buildings we did find the steep stairs and uneven corridors a bit of a challenge as well as luck of a lift. If we return we will have ground floors rooms then it will be perfect
Review 106:Delightful restaurant food and wholesome breakasts
Review 107:For the price we paid I would have expected a fridge in the room and real coffee. Food was ok but not top quality for the price.
Review 108:Room very clean and spacious. Staff very polite. First class location for touring the Cotswolds.
Review 109:Room was stuffy but when we opened the window, the road noise was significant. Not the best night's sleep.
Review 110:Common rooms and pub were very welcoming.
Review 111:No private parking, and limited public spaces close to hotel - I think website overstates the quality of available parking
Review 112:Good sized room with separate sitting room (King Charles suite)
Review 113:Room was on the small side. Shower needed repair to door - but we managed.
Review 114:Friendly and helpful staff Good atmosphere Good food available in bar or restaurant - not any extensive menu but good quality well prepared and presented.
Review 115:Evening meal was disappointing I had the summer salad and for £15 pounds it was not value for money, salmon cooked well but salad part was boring and mainly lettuce, this needs improving on especially at the price. Others in party had acceptable meals. Dining area was nice looking on to the courtyard and service was good, nothing too much trouble.
Review 116:When we arrived the room we booked was unavailable so upgraded for free. Hotel staff friendly and keen to help. Hotel was clean and had character, room was excellent. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked so warm. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Review 117:As we are in our late 70's, having to go up so many stairs to our room. Also the bath having a curved bottom is dangerous when standing to have a shower as you slip sidway - and there is no hand grab.
Review 118:The staff and hotel generally.
Review 119:Not the hotels fault but it was a bit noisy did to the traffic.
Review 120:The bed was really comfortable and they had thought of the small things like water, biscuits and tissues!
Review 121:Will have to tell mum to check that the room has a bath and not just a shower but that's not a complaint.
Review 122:It was a great choice my parents gave us as a surprise. The village and surrounding towns were beautiful. The hotel was fantastic.
Review 123:Our room faced a busy street, yet we never heard street noise. Lovely, large room. Very comfortable bed. And what a locale! The Cotswolds are glorious. Very helpful staff. Breakfasts are downright meaningful.
Review 124:Very strong smell in the room, not particularly unpleasant but very strong. Take some sandwiches to see you through waiting for your breakfast order (1/2 hr)
Review 125:Nice room, lovely place
Review 126:The breakfast was really good and the staff were so friendly! It's a convenient location to stay with the train station nearby and with direct buses and trains to Oxford, Bourton-on-the-water and Stratford-upon-Avon. Just note that Buses don't run on Sundays (:
Review 127:There were problems with the wifi - I had to log in every time I opened my computer - and for a while I couldn't log in at all. And it wasn't very fast.
Review 128:Good value, good position
Review 129:A fresh coat of paint on the front door would make a big difference to first impressions...and would brighten up the rooms as well. A requested wake-up call was missed, so suggest bringing your own alarm clock just in case ...
Review 130:We looked forward to returning each day to The Snug pub...the staff, the comfort food, the locals with their dogs. Even though our room was very small, a cozy lounge on the main floor was a great place to hang out.
Review 131:The restaurant was OK, no more than that. The food selection was not too great, the desserts were poor. Overall not value for money.
Review 132:Great location and the staff were friendly.
Review 133:The full breakfast was ridiculously small, half a small flat mushroom teaspoonful of beans, one small sausage and 2 bearly cooked fatty bacon, very disappointing worst I have had,
Review 134:Beds comfy staff very nice
