Reviews for Résidence Le Château Du Val
Review 1:You hear very easy people in other rooms or behind the doors, isolation is not that good
Review 2:price quality ok, restaurant not much choice but quite cheap, room is ok
Review 3:Isolated location, good for a night or two, but more vould get boring and lonely :)
Review 4:Hotel in a quiet park, sleeping with the windows opened is a rare thing you can do. Hotel restaurant is reasonably priced.
Review 5:Wifi did not work in my room, but was ok elsewhere. Most of the staff did not speak English. The property gate closes at 22:00 and they "forgot" to provide entrance code.
Review 6:The old biulding, rooms with a park view - really nice stay. Restaurant is not overpriced and staff is nice. Free parking is a bonus.
Review 7:impossibility of getting advance information on the menu. this is planned a la minute, so everything is fresh - but, with limited choice, reserving means taking a risk that there'll be something you like. heating was ok, but maybe only because it wasn't very cold - radiators only ever partly warmed up and seemed to be turned off at night. bathroom rather poky; hot water only seemed to work in the mornings breakfast assortment is good, but timing is a bit early for our taste. having to vacate the room by 11:00 is also too early
Review 8:quiet, clean; beautiful old building with superb grounds nice large (comfort) room with sitting area, table, etc. value for money of menu du jour and restaurant drinks
Review 9:The bathroom floor was slippery, I nearly fell down on the tiled floor.
Review 10:The room and bed were confortable, the tea and coffee making facilities were much appreciated and the bathroom was lovely.
Review 11:You need to have the car to come around there. The reception service was not very nice. She gave us a wrong code for the gate (the reception is closed at 6 pm, so the guest is provided with a code for entering the hotel area). It was not nice to be lock out of the hotel, with a wrong code, in the middle of a raining night and have to call a French telephone. Then, upon checking out, the same receptionist would not believe me, when I told her that our child did not have the breakfast, so she made us and other guests waiting and went to the restaurant for controlling that I was telling the truce. We do not appreciate this type of treatment at all!
Review 12:The Château Du Val is located in a large park near Saint Germein en laye outside of Paris. The surroundings are very nice. We had a spacious nice room, actually a suite with a bed room and a separated room as the sitting area and a great view to the park of the Château. The room is very clean and they changed towel and bed sheets even we only stayed for two days---- which we appreciated very much. The breakfast, which costs 10 EUR /persons extra, was nice with fresh French bakery products, nice coffee and fruits.
Review 13:We have now stayed here 5 times this year. Outstanding service, quiet, fantastic place to stay. We are already booking for next year. All staff extremely friendly and helpful
Review 14:It would take little to improve the perception about the place. Awful restoration of beautiful fireplaces in common areas and bedroom.
Review 15:Historical site, plenty of charm. Wonderful gardens and true XVIII century environment, next to RER and nested in unspoilt countryside.
Review 16:I had some expectations for this Château turned hotel but a little disappointed - due to the overall setting and decoration, it felt more like a regular countryside hotel than something special or unique. It could very well be that I didn't set my expectations right.
Review 17:We chose this place because it's relatively easy to get to Paris city center by driving and also nicely priced, where the history of the building was a draw too. The rooms are spacious by Paris standards but rather basic in terms of decoration and furniture. There are a couple of local parks nearby worth checking out, if you have time to explore the neighborhood a bit.
Review 18:nothing
Review 19:Nice place when you like to walk or to bike or simply want to stay in a nice castle. The restauration of the castle is a pleasure for the eye. We had nice conversations with the honourable guests of the castle and also with the manager. It is like you stay with friends. The 'le petit dejeuner' was very good. The room was quite. It is very relaxing to sit on the terasse and daydream while admiring the garden. You feel very safe at this place surounded by a beatiful fence.
Review 20:Some areas of the gardens needed a bit of tidying up, but nothing major!
Review 21:For a one-off experience to stay in a Chateau, this is the place. Very friendly staff, beautiful building & grounds. Excellent food in stunning dining room. No problem for them to garage our bikes overnight. Not too far off the Avenue Verte but well worth the detour.
Review 22:Real good location to Saint Germain and also Paris if you accept 30 min RER train. The Chateau is really original and very French. Good value for money and lovely park outside, 100% relaxing athmosphere
Review 23:The chateau was beautiful, and spotlessly clean. The staff went beyond the call of duty to assist us ( we were travelling on bicycles) and the director even gave us a lift into the local town. It was lovely staying in a house with lots of history, and a pleasure to be in the company of the residents.
Review 24:The onsite restaurant served institutional food which was very bland.
Review 25:It was a beautiful old building in lovely grounds and very quiet. Perfectly situated for our drive into Paris the next morning to drop off the car. Expansive parkland around the chateau meant you could have a good long walk. It was a bit quirky in that it was also a residence for senior citizens
Review 26:Despite the luxury of the room the mattress was so hard I didn't sleep very well at all as it was very uncomfortable.
Review 27:The chateaux location near St Germaine was fantastic as we're the views over the garden.
Review 28:Beautiful historical building, nice garden, good restaurant. Very quite.
Review 29:Curtain color
Review 30:The history of chateau is enchanted. The garden and outstanding in the forest location. It is cool to pretend as an noble one day.
Review 31:Wifi needs an upgrade on speed and bathroom was cold
Review 32:Friendly staff. Good food. Nice location
Review 33:historic building, great location, very calm
Review 34:It would be good if restaurant was fully functional in the evenings.
Review 35:Super location. Beautiful building.
Review 36:Free wifi although difficult to access. Some rooms with noisy toilet evacuation pump.
Review 37:Restaurant, nice and friendly people, free parking
Review 38:Rooms are newly refurbished. Great choice for breakfast
Review 39:No lounge. No bath.
Review 40:Tea making in room. Meal was good apart from the dessert.
Review 41:Nice location Free parking Very friendly people
Review 42:nothing not to like
Review 43:quiet, great character and comfort
Review 44:No drawers to put your clothes thus lived out of suitcase.
Review 45:Good atmosphere. Quiet in the forest. Nice breakfast.
Review 46:Not a personal touch, staf is friendly but, Fe breakfast is self service. Reception is too simple.
Review 47:Location
Review 48:you really have to have a car to get there
Review 49:being so close to Paris and in such a quiet place.
Review 50:staff, room clean and new
Review 51:Comfortable room size and atmosphere Beautiful garden around the hotel
Review 52:We arrived wet and tired on our way from London to Paris en velo. We were well looked after and all our needs met perfectly.
Review 53:You do need a car to get the best out of a stay
Review 54:Quiet location in a park Interesting building full of character and history Ample parking space
Review 55:Wi-Fi was poor, breakfast too expresive for 10€.
Review 56:Nice location but only 1 person speek english
Review 57:not all payment methods accepted no fridge in the rooms limites nr of TV channels
Review 58:the environment, the charm, very quiet, original
Review 59:I liked the quiet, family-like atmosphere of the place. Probably not the right place for people who like busy city centers, but for the ones who enjoy a quiet place to rest. It is located in the middle of a forest and one needs a car to reach it (or bus service from Saint Germain en Laye)
Review 60:Loved the relaxed atmosphere. At a price hardly more than budget hotels you are in a different world. Lovely location. A bit out of town so a car is necessary and parking in St Germain is a pain, but walks around the chateau grounds and the adjoining woods are a treat.
Review 61:Hotel not easy to find with normal navigation. Restaurant not available without reservation one day before. W-Lan only free for 12 hours.
Review 62:Nice to stay at a real chateau with good comfort and spacious room. Typical French breakfast with little bread option.
Review 63:We asked to book a table for dinner that evening but the chef said she couldn't cater for us that night. Didn't like not being able to eat at the restaurant...we had to go into town, but we did find a nice restaurant.
Review 64:The room was spacious, tranquil, clean and comfortable. The receptionist was friendly and affable.
Review 65:Quite a long way by foot, from restaurants and bars if you are not driving and although evening meals are on offer, you have to book the night before.
Review 66:If you would like to stay in a genuine French Chateau this is the place for you. Stunning views.
Review 67:No coffee/tea in rooms. (But tea/coffee machine in dining room - possible charge but we weren't charged) Evening meal very limited (choice of two) (geared to be economic for the few (2 or 3) residents) (€19) - but town of St Germain nearby.
Review 68:Amazing royal (Louis XIV) chateau in tranquil grounds. Next to the massive forests of St Germain Also has residents of the Legion of Honour - History! About 14 miles NW from centre of Paris. Great price (room €100/night July 2013)
Review 69:A pity, that the rooms do not match the style and taste of thecastle. This could be a first class hotel, if they invested in abetter interior.
Review 70:Nice Location and setting, good breakfast for a french hotel, friendly staff
Review 71:If you like the standard hotels, do not go there.
Review 72:It is an incredible place where history meets quietness. You go from a surprise to another. You have an incredible mix of diversity: retirees, families, and business managers who all coexist in the same place, just 30 minutes away from Paris. You can also visit Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a few minutes away. If you do not want to stay in the center of Paris, or want a quiet place before you enter the big city, and still see it from a distance, this is the place to go. Make sure you have a car to get there. I was truly astonished.
Review 73:Room was basic but clean. No bath, just a shower (but it was a goodshower). In other words, don't expect a luxurious stay; it's abasic, rather outdated room in a small chateau. That's why it costsone third the price of some other places.
Review 74:Big room, could call it a studio, big bed and comfortable bedding. Viewon the park. Silence and the ambiance of the chateau. It was easy tofind, I don't know why others had problems: the address is all youneed. And there is a car park right in front, no problem. In short, agood price for a stay in the forest outside Paris.
Review 75:Room a bit small
Review 76:Hotel is inside a chateau which is very special. It is close to a localpark. The garden and building design are unique. It is outside Paris butclose enough if you have the time. Rooms are a bit small due the thebuilding design. Breakfast is fair. Staff was ok
Review 77:add more authenticity to the interior, especially the rooms that don't match the impressive building, need a car to visit Saint-Germain-en-Laye, very long, but in good weather, plesant walk through the woods
Review 78:very pleasant location in the woods, wake up with the birds singing, nicely groomed and well kept park behind the main building, not crowded and preseved residence, staff is orderly and organised
Review 79:Tried to change some details of the booking & the communication wasnone existent which wasn't great.
Review 80:The chateau was full of history & beautiful morning rooms, likestaying in Versailles. Gorgeous gardens & although quite far fromcentre of Paris not too bad if you're driving. Very quiet &peaceful & nearby town of St-Germain-en-Laye is pretty with somenice restaurants.
Review 81:Breakfast starts a bit late for business travellers
Review 82:The hotel is set in a very nice surroundings, ideally for long walks inthe woods but very well connected to Paris and all its intersting spots.
Review 83:Charming venue, large rooms, in the middle of a park and forest. Ask for main castle rooms. Floor uneven in stairs and rooms but this is an historic location...great location minutes from city center
Review 84:Luckily we had a car... But beware the hotel is not 500m from the rerstation (as mentioned in the hotel brochure) Expect a 25 to 30 minutewalk through the forest to the train station. If the weather is nice, itwill be a lovely walk.
Review 85:Beautiful hotel located in a former residence of Louis xiv in the forestof Saint-Germain-En-Laye. Great value especially if you want to avoidParis prices (we had two very nice rooms for the price of one room in acomparable hotel in Paris) Also, Saint-Germain-En-Laye is a lovelysuburb and provides easy access to Paris via the rer.
Review 86:limited catering time absence of snak machine
Review 87:Historical site, Calm and nice garden, nice view from my room, very nice and friendly personnel
Review 88:No bar, atmosphere was rather subdued!
Review 89:Staff were very welcoming, lovely grounds and the room was very spacious.
Review 90:Nothing.
Review 91:Friendly staff, great setting, good location.
Review 92:the history of the buidling, lovely quiet location, friendly and helpful staff
Review 93:Nothing
Review 94:Everything
Review 95:creaky floorboards!
Review 96:Stunning buildings, well-equipped rooms with new bathrooms
Review 97:No tea and coffee making facilities
Review 98:Character and ambience of the building Location for visiting areas around Paris and the city
