Reviews for Membly Hall Hotel
Review 1:Breakfast could have been more buffet. Didnt like having waiting staff bringing cereal and juice. More used to helping myself. Bowl was too small for my two weetabix.
Review 2:Food was good. We were there for a function
Review 3:There wasn't anything. I would not have booked a second time if there was.plus we will go again next year!
Review 4:This is my second visit to this hotel. It is ideally situated for the town and the beach also the Pavilion which is the main reason for our visit.
Review 5:TV needs longer extension so one can watch in/on the bed. I asked about dogs as we often travel with our 14kg well behaved dog, but No pets are allowed - unfortunately.
Review 6:breakfast, view (although I had no view but carpark from my room), sauna, wifi
Review 7:Room was a good size and best bed I have slept in, via any hotel while working from home, Staff really helpful and breakfast was plenty. will use again for sure.
Review 8:The shower was a bit noisy
Review 9:A wonderful large room overlooking the sea Well equipped bathroom -shelves to put things on. We also had a dining table overlooking the sea - magic
Review 10:You can if you try find lots of little niggles but nothing realy, thought bar prices a little on the upside but it is what it is
Review 11:Good hotel,well situated.great views.nice and clean and good food(only had breakfast),
Review 12:Not a serious problem but one that is now common. I really find it disturbing when I'm trying to relax at breakfast and people close by are on their mobile phones talking loud!
Review 13:Nice clean and quiet room with a great view. Superb breakfast with great choice of food. Nice friendly and kind staff.
Review 14:On the first day they came in and cleaned the room whilst we were at breakfast;we were'nt expecting this ,but after that we put out the "Do not disturb" sign and they did'nt come in.
Review 15:All the staff were friendly and helpfull. The rooms were clean ,the beds were comfy , the food and service was excellent, and it was right opposite the beach!
Review 16:I had a room on the second floor with a view over the castle headland, great for watching the sun come up! The parking was close to the hotel entrance - handy for a rainy day.
Review 17:Daily cleaning service was very early and the staff didn't even knock the door before she came in. Shower curtain looks dirty and need to be replaced. Needed to say exactly how many pieces of toast wanted otherwise would get only one.
Review 18:The location could't be any better. All staffs are very nice and friendly.
Review 19:We were here for Falmouth University open day. Good location next to the beach, easy walk to the station and Wood Lane campus - a little further into town. We got to walk on the beach before breakfast! Perfectly good hotel for this purpose.
Review 20:No wifi code given in the information pack and when a staff member gave me the code, it didn't work. If I was travelling on business I'd be hesitant about booking again if I thought I wouldn't get easy wifi access.
Review 21:The room was small but clean and comfortable and I had a sea view. Very friendly staff and a good value hotel overall.
Review 22:Having to leave!
Review 23:Excellent staff. From the barman to the gentleman on reception to the housekeeping staff all welcoming and helpful. They all seemed to genuinely enjoy their work.
Review 24:Unfortunately, my initial experience was less than favourable. I arrived at the hotel at about 5.30 in the afternoon having travelled nearly all day. I was tired and hungry. The first thing I did was visit the restaurant and enquire whether I had to book for dinner. The girl I spoke to said it wasn't necessary but to return at 7. Which I did. Another young lady approached me and told me I would not be able to dine there as I hadn't booked! When I explained what the other girl had said, she said, "She's new!" I asked her what was I supposed to do about getting something to eat and her reply was, "You'll have to go out!!" She said the chef couldn't possibly cater for me. ( by the way, my son is a chef who has his own restaurant, and it must be a pretty sad affair if the chef can't rustle up a toasted sandwich). I would have been satisfied with a small snack. As it was I had to wander down to the beach ( never been to Falmouth before) and try and find something. That experience did sour my desire to eat in, and so on the following night, I didn't bother. Disappointing , as everything else, and all other staff was very pleasant.
Review 25:The location was excellent and I would gladly return.
Review 26:Beds were not comfortable with one of the beds have springs sticking into you. Also room had a musty smell. Did not think it was worth the cost of £99
Review 27:Facilities a little antiquated in our initial room. Had to move as theydecided to replace windows in corridor outside room and fumes wereopptessive. Could have warned us on check in. Better still don'tfull rooms that will be impacted by construction. Staff not veryunderstanding until suggestion of reporting room as uninhabitable wasmade... Then magically anot her room was available in a previouslystated completely booked hotel. Hmmmmm.
Review 28:Great view and easy walk into town.
Review 29:The bathroom uses an interesting pump for the toilet/shower that makes a fair bit of noise. Walls are thin and can hear noise from other rooms.
Review 30:great location overlooking the water. close by the beach and the short walk to maritime museum. very friendly staff. good free wifi and onsite parking
Review 31:Young lady at breakfast serving, could have been a little friendlier and could have smiled - it was a Sunday so maybe she had a late night and early start. Only person in the hotel who was like this everyone else - receptionist, cleaners, other staff were extremely friendly.
Review 32:Comfort of beds. Cleanliness was excellent. Breakfast.
Review 33:Very thin walls as could hear everything that was happening outside the room. A few staff were not properly trained in customer service or maybe just appeared grumpy.
Review 34:The location was great. My bedroom had a nice view of the sea. Food was good.
Review 35:Wedding reception very loud going on until late, could hear the booming music, wasn't warned. Nowhere to park, had to park down the bottom of the hill in a long stay, the hotel car park was extremely narrow anyway so probably would of had problems as I have a big car.
Review 36:Lovely clean room, nice staff, excellent location.
Review 37:Having to leave and drive a long way home joining the queues on the A30 even though I would have preferred to walk down to those idyllic rockpools and beach ...
Review 38:Beautiful location and friendly staff
Review 39:Lack of explanation or enthusiasm of young weekend breakfast staff to tell us the routine, take order or clear tables. Bank holiday Monday staff were brilliant.
Review 40:Sea view was great from top floor. Other room set at back corner on top floor was split level, very quaint. Bar open all night, ideal for night cap at Mid night.
Review 41:Pillows were very tired and lifeless offering no support Hotel looking very tired everywhere
Review 42:Cooked breakfast was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful
Review 43:Wife's room was above the kitchen so a bit hot. And we suspect that the toilet had a leeks.
Review 44:Brilliant seaview from room and service was excellent!!
Review 45:There wasn't anything I disliked.
Review 46:I liked overall friendly Ness and location also the cleniness was outstanding nothing was to much for anyone to do
Review 47:Fantastic location . Very very friendly staff made us feel so welcome. View from bedroom was amazing . I could watch the boats out to sea from bed. You cannot beat being sat with glass of wine with the views from their lounge . On a wet day I could sit on their comfy sofas with that view and a book all day.
Review 48:The place is a bit tired looking , went to look at the Spa but the door was locked and all looked a bit grubby. The bed still had a winter duvet on, too hot and heavy.
Review 49:The location is lovely overlooking the sea and a 10 to15min walk to the town.
Review 50:One night - just needed somewhere to put my head down - no problem - stay for a weeks holiday - probably not Found it a bit odd to be told on check in how to contact a doctor!
Review 51:Location right on the seafront excellent Breakfast very good
Review 52:We had a bad experience with being kept awake one night and someone urinating in the hallway. Management in the hotel were not understanding over this and did not have adequate overnight security
Review 53:Good position and views of the sea
Review 54:Couldn't find out about the pool and the sauna myself (but was not interested enough to ask)
Review 55:Basically everything, but especially the comfort of the room (even though it was a single!) with beautiful view to the see. Couldn't be better situated, this hotel.
Review 56:There was a disturbance overnight from someone in a room near mine. Although I don't hold the hotel responsible for the behaviour of these guests, I was hoping for a gesture or apology of some sort in the morning. The cleaning ladies were great and we had a good chat about it in the morning and then met the guest who I think caused the disturbance. The hotel could take some steps to ensure any guests who disturb others are not accommodated again.
Review 57:The location is amazing, the view was lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival and at breakfast. Very comfy room and bed. Good breakfast with HUGE pot of lovely Earl Grey tea and very attentive staff despite being very busy.
Review 58:Very old fashioned, in need of updating! Bathroom in our room not very nice.
Review 59:The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was very good, the location is fantastic and the room was clean.
Review 60:The position of this hotel is great. Across the road and you walk along a sea front. There is also a lot of activity at sea with large boats coming and going
Review 61:Bar felt a little like a nursing home Walking into the centre of town takes 20 minutes or so
Review 62:Breakfast - excellent quality Great location for local beach
Review 63:Due to our location our Wifi connection was excellent. However the Coach driver staying found Wifi near bar door or reception corridor and was frustrated at times.
Review 64:We booked a 'garden room' assuming it would be tucked in a rear corner being cheaper. Located above reception it faced on to pleasant side gardens with a diagonal view of sea just across the road. Use of hot tub and sauna were free.
Review 65:We had booked a sea view room and were given one with a side view of the sea, which could only be seen from being close to the window. Brett on reception arranged for us to be moved the next day to a full sea view room for the rest of our stay.
Review 66:Excellent breakfast served to us. The quietest lift we have ever seen / heard!
Review 67:The food was variable in quality and selection. The shower room was little more than a cupboard and needed maintenance, the shower didn't empty properly and needed re-sealing properly. One of the beds was very uncomfortable.
Review 68:The location and aspect was very good, staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 69:At £100 per room per night, was far too expensive for the little back rooms we got. Hotel was dated and more suited for OAP bus holidays.
Review 70:Location; breakfast
Review 71:Bed mattress was as soft as my washing up sponge and gave me back pain. Breakfast quality was below average. Check out time of 10:30!!!!
Review 72:Location, View, Parking, Ease of access
Review 73:When we arrived we had the keys thrown at us by the receptionist room 7 first floor, breakfast 8 till 9 not a good impression. When we found the room the door was covered with intrusions of what we couldn't do, including turning all electricity off when leaving the room to reduce fire risk and loose the keys it's a 200 pound fine. Breakfast when the order was taken Was thrown on the plate underneath it all was a piece of bread soaked in oil, alleged fried. On top of everything else in late June the stair/hallway were still being decorated and everything smelt of thinners and paint
Review 74:The location was good with excellent views over the bay. The double room was large.
Review 75:Hotel very dated, floorboards creek with thin walls could hear people in next room. Bedroom very basic not even a table to rest a cup on. Breakfast poor choice and overcooked .Had evening meal on first night disaster! did not repeat the experience .ate out for rest of stay. Will not be staying at this hotel again
Review 76:location with a nice sea view, beach & park just across the road but no other facilities. Princess pavilion close by
Review 77:I couldn't find the WiFi password and it was too late at night to ask.
Review 78:The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was very, very, good with my meal cooked to order and the marmalade in proper bowls instead of packets.
Review 79:Hotel us a little tired looking Showerhead old needs updating. Area to spa pool needs tyding up.
Review 80:Hotel is in an excellent location. The staff are very friendly couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast is very good and cooked to order. X
Review 81:WiFi did not work in our room which was alittle disappointing.
Review 82:Position of hotel suited us with lovely sea view, comfortable room, excellent cleanliness, good breakfast and hotel grounds to use.
Review 83:Wifi was slow.
Review 84:We were made to feel welcome. Good parking, comfortable room, excellent breakfast, right by the beach, short walk to town, fantastic views of the coast.
Review 85:The only issue we had were the doors slamming in the morning it appears some guess like to get up more early than others.
Review 86:We loved how the hotel was close to the sea easy walking distance to Falmouth town centre and the harbour
Review 87:Everything felt old, in need of repair or renewal. Wifi slow. Lock on bathroom broke, mixer shower not good, half decorated walls. No option given to have dinner in restaurant but coach parties well catered for.
Review 88:Lovely view from our window and quality of breakfast was good.
Review 89:Our bedroom had stairs in it which we did not find at all suitable to our needs and is the only aspect of dissatisfaction that we had concerning the premises. Otherwise we were very happy with the overall experience.
Review 90:Bed is particular really stood out - it was one of those "absorbant" types that sort of absorbs your body - really relaxing. Room was spotlessly clean and for the price I cannot grumble.
Review 91:we both enjoyed the sea view from the hotel .Also the breakfast was very nice and service very fast.Hotel in good location for falmouth town centrea aaa
Review 92:Didn't like the table seating system at breakfast. I'd like to be able to sit where I like! I wasn't the only guest that didn't like it, some guests like to sit by the window, some like to sit away from the crowd, guests should be able to relax and sit where they feel most comfortable. The best seats in the house should be first come first served!
Review 93:All the staff were really nice and helpful. Perfect location with beach and town so close. Room clean and tidy with all the essentials to hand. Lovely full english!
Review 94:The wi fi wasn't great in our room but it wasn't really a problem.
Review 95:Overall it was such a wonderful stay at Membly. The staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful and our breakfast every morning was fab. Beautiful views and we had no trouble with the hotel facilities. The cost of our 4 night stay was more than reasonable. Definitely will be visiting again!
Review 96:A few little changes would go a long way to improve this hotel - bigger towels, soap dispensers that work, display cabinets that don't rattle, hot rather than luke warm breakfasts, cleaners that don't chat outside the room at 8am on a Sunday etc etc
Review 97:Wasn't expecting a sea view for the price but was a real bonus. Would stay again despite minor imperfections
Review 98:Slow wifi All a bit shabby genteel: I would avoid during the coach party season!
Review 99:Great staff -- really helpful & friendly Location overlooking Falmouth beach Vale for money
Review 100:The view from this hotel is fantastic. The breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful. We only stopped for one night but we thought it was good value for money.
Review 101:I thought that the evening meals were a little expensive so we didn't eat there
Review 102:The view from our window was absolutely fantastic. The cleanliness of the room. Everything was great
Review 103:It's not that I didn't like it but the decor was a bit dated (to the point of being funny). The bar was closed at 6 pm which was strange.
Review 104:The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Review 105:Bed mattress was slightly slopey and quite a bit of noise form heating/pipes late into the night. Cold bath tap only a dribble - so took ages to run.
Review 106:staff friendly and courteous, spotlessly clean, nice breakfast and catered for gluten free needs!
Review 107:I liked everything!
Review 108:I loved the location of the hotel, we got a sea-view room and it was amazing! Also the breakfast was very good and very well served. The staff from the hotel were very polite and helpful.
Review 109:The hotel is in the perfect location for the beach and town centre. Our visit was to spend time with my daughter who now lives in Falmouth. Easy access for the rest of Cornwall where there is plenty to see and do.
Review 110:It's a little in need for some life being pumped back into the old girl. She may have been glorious in her early days - maybe a good lick of paint will help.
Review 111:Staff, beach front location, 15 minute walk into the wharf / Rick Steins Fish n Chips. Quiet hotel, on sire free parking, wifi and sea view.
Review 112:the only thing I wasn't so keen on were the tea and coffee flasks at breakfast. I would have preferred my own coffee pot served to me.
Review 113:Location was lovely, overlooking the beach and yet only a 15 minute walk into town. The breakfasts were nicely cooked. The staff were friendly.
Review 114:Small lift. Slightly tired decor, loose floor board in hallway. Offer of update to include kettle, safe and slippers but the room already has tea making facility with kettle and safe. Slippers not really wanted so extra 15 pounds per night was just a con.
Review 115:Good sea views an good size room
Review 116:The shower was a bit hit & miss.
Review 117:Staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel bedroom was cleaned to a good standard. With basic faculties. Breakfast was good.
Review 118:the evening meal was very good, but a little expensive, at £19 - 95 per person.
Review 119:the hotel is on the sea front, lots of car parking space, good and plentiful breakfast, very, very good and lots of seating in the hotel, overlooking the sea.
Review 120:Car parking was a little bit of a problem but it was good to see that the hotel was busy. The overhead shower head was a little clogged and not all that efficient. The heating in the room was not dependent on the radiator control, so the room could easily become hotter than desired at night.
Review 121:The staff were very friendly, helpful and you felt very much at home. Breakfast was just what was needed. The complimentary room shower gel and liquid soap avoided the usual waste by simply refilling the dispensers. Our stay was very relaxing indeed.
Review 122:I have no complaints.
Review 123:I particularly liked the location and the fact that the hotel catered for my gluten free requirements. I also liked being a short walk from the station and within walking distance of the town.
Review 124:I had booked partly on the basis that the hotel described on its website that it had a sauna and gym room, which I had intended to use. It was very disappointing to find that the sauna was out of action on the night I stayed, and the gym turned out to be a cold rather drab room with a rowing machine, a broken cross trainer and a pool table in it - there wasn't really space to use any of the equipment properly and so I didn't. Wi-fi was also very poor in the rooms but Ok in communal areas.
Review 125:Staff were very friendly and helpful, beds comfy, breakfast very good and the views of the sea are wonderful.
Review 126:Friendly professional staff, comfortable room, v. good value at discounted rate, blissful sea views (not exactly from my room), free parking, only ten mins agreeable walk from centre of Falmouth.
Review 127:It was very comfortable and quiet, excellent views very good value for money. Breakfast was included it was supposed to start at 8 but requesting a 7 o'clock one was no problem and I was still given the full breakfast treatment.....Excellent
Review 128:The location of the hotel is bang on the seashore. Big French windows make you live near sea. The breakfast was another highlight of the stay. It was delicious and sumptuous.
Review 129:The room was filthy and the staff unhelpful we paid for a sea view and didn't get one. When we asked to move room (a double) we were told the only room they had left was a twin. The manager/owner was argumentative and unprofessional when we bought it to his attention the next morning that we we're unhappy with the state of the room, and the fact there was no suitable alternative offered or any attempt to resolve the issues the previous evening.
Review 130:Breakfast was ok
Review 131:Shower was a bit hit and miss and could have been cleaner.
Review 132:I was made welcome as soon as I walked through the door by a very lovely member of staff who carried my bags and showed me to my room. I was very comfortable and cosy and wished I had a longer stay! The view is spectacular and staff are fabulous!
Review 133:What has let them down is where they discribe the facilities I was drawn into this hotel not just for the great value but also they siad that they had gym, sauna and spa pool facilities well the spa pool was a bought hot tub and the gym comprised of three fitness machines and two of them were broken the sorroundings were not upo to a modern gym standard and the rest of the hotel looks tires in its decoration.
Review 134:I thought the room was very clean and tidy and for the money was great value. The breakfast was very nice and super hot food just like it should be.
Review 135:Wish that hotels could invent doors that are delayed on a spring as other guests are so inconsiderate when retiring late to bed or up early in the morning. The sound insulation did not seem to be very good as there was constant disturbance coming through the ceiling of my room, sounds such as people slamming cupboards that possible could have been masked with better insulation.
Review 136:I really loved the view from both my bedroom and my table at breakfast. Staff in both reception and in the restaurant were a pleasure. Bed and duvet were superb and all facilities in room were fabulous.
