Reviews for The Bulls Head Hotel
Review 1:not really a complaint but I would have liked to have been given the option of booking a room with a bath in,mine had only a shower .
Review 2:loved the quirkiness of the old building ,particulaly liked dining room
Review 3:Beautiful property, extremely well appointed room, immaculately clean with a beautifully comfortable bed! Staff most helpful and friendly. Food excellent and very cosy bar areas.
Review 4:Tiny quibble over not enough overhead light on a dark morning and not enough shelf space for cosmetics in bathroom.
Review 5:The staff here are exceptional - friendly and go out of their way to solve problems and help. Rooms good, food good.
Review 6:The fact that some of the other guests made lots of noise outside our room in the middle of the night after leaving a function in the hotel
Review 7:That when we said we were disturbed during the night by other guest we had money taken off our bill
Review 8:A misunderstood food order led to a disappointing meal - it was fully refunded the next day without any fuss.
Review 9:Very friendly staff, very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
Review 10:What's not to like!
Review 11:Great hotel, lovely setting, well kept building with a modern bar and restaurant. Excellent big room with tea/coffee, biscuits etc. Nice big bathroom and everything very clean and cared for. Staff very friendly and professional. Can't fault it, loved it!
Review 12:Pillows too hard and no choice. Heating in room was sporadic.
Review 13:Quiet room which was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Good choice of bar meals though slightly expensive. Best hotel breakfast for long time
Review 14:Not a bad experience but the car park was difficult to use. Large vehicles were parked in the centre of the car park making it difficult to access or leave vacant spaces
Review 15:Excellent room, excellent food and friendly atmosphere.
Review 16:The shower room could do with a steam clean; smell of mould/mildew. Also, the outside creepers growing through bedroom window.
Review 17:The staff and food are second to none.
Review 18:I loved everything, without exception over the 2 weeks I was there. Room, staff, service, food, drink, atmosphere. On a number of occasions, staff went above and beyond... changing rooms around to accommodate my family when they joined me for a night, doing me a breakfast even though I missed it, even a late night drink of milk from the chef's fridge. My trip went perfectly, in so small part to this hotel and it's staff.
Review 19:If I'm really really picky, the hot water in the bathtubs sometimes isn't piping hot, but this is an old characterful building and it really doesn't matter that much.
Review 20:Welcoming reception staff, particularly lovely staff at breakfast, a cracking Eggs Benedict, nice cosy bar, looked after very well in the restaurant when on my own. A real home from home for the business traveller.
Review 21:Attached to pub so quite noisy on a Saturday evening until midnight. Not unexpected but worth noting if you want peace and quiet at 10pm. Unfortunately the bed was fairly lumpy and was the weak point of the stay.
Review 22:Well situated for Chislehurst. Hotel attached to Young's pub so good parking and easy access to meal and drinks. Room size (15) was adequate and well equipped.
Review 23:It wasn't really a bad experience and we didn't complain however we had a room on the front of the building and the drapes did not cover our window sufficiently to block out the high beam lights that shone all night outside.
Review 24:Everything. The town, transport, eating in and out but most of all the atmosphere at the Bulls Head. It was efficiently run with extremely friendly staff and great accommodations.
Review 25:The room I had was small, the floor creaked and the bathroom was cramped. The room was the downside to an otherwise enjoyable stay. Perhaps I had the bad luck to have the broom cupboard !!
Review 26:Staff very helpful & friendly. Food good and not too expensive.
Review 27:avoid room 10 it can be noisy at night. extractor fans left running in kitchen aircon unit mounted out side on wall directly behind the mirror. it even made the door vibrate.
Review 28:plenty of character.good bar
Review 29:Nicely furnished room with air con. Lovely relaxing large bar with very comfortable seating. The 'No children allowed' policy in the main bar works well but there is something for everyone at The Bulls Head. Good food with a lively atmosphere in the light and airy restaurant. It's a busy pub and a great place to stay for a short break. Lots of parking as well!
Review 30:I thought the bar was a bit dark and it was difficult for me to read the menu.
Review 31:The staff were really friendly and helpful. I arrived just after breakfast but i was still served a coffee and a breakfast. The food in the bar and at the restaurant was delicious. The tea room/restaurant was really quaint.
Review 32:Just a note not a complaint as such. Room 10, the toilet is too close to the wall was probably the reason why the toilet seat was a bit loose and the toilet roll holder was angled so the roll tended to slip off. Probably someone had leant on it due to the above.
Review 33:A beautifully appointed room/bathroom with a very comfortable bed, D/glazing set inside original windows so no noise from traffic. Brilliant breakfast served in a lovely dining room on real china. Staff carried my case up and down the stairs with a smile as I'm dodgy on my feet.
Review 34:Although we requested a quite room due to the long journey the room allocated was close by a function room which meant loud music disturbed our sleep especially on the Tuesday night, it was not that the music was overly loud, it was not, but just at the level that keeps one awake just as you are drifting off it is constantly in the background, it sounded like a heavy metal night. Really spoilt an enjoyable stay.
Review 35:Staff very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Meals were freshly prepared and hot unlike some places.
Review 36:the aircon which was set by the motel,as we had no access to open windows I did not like the fact they had control over my comfort
Review 37:the staff and location
Review 38:We liked everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, stylish and comfortable. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent and they catered easily for a gluten intolerance.
Review 39:The bed was a little hard (for me)
Review 40:I have stayed here before and the hotel has since had a major refurbishment of its restaurant adding a delightful tea room where breakfast was held in the morning. The supplies of tea, milk and toiletries are excellent and far more generous than some top hotels
Review 41:It can be noisy from the road or busy bar but did not bother me.
Review 42:Used the hotel as base for a business trip in London. Lovely location and the food & service were excellent. Modern and comfortable rooms in an informal atmosphere. Station is a pleasant 20 minute walk away if you take the back way and not the main road.
Review 43:Tiny breakfast tables for two people couldn't get very much on them. The aircon in the hotel was way too cold.
Review 44:Well equipped room for getting ready to out. The function room and garden were very good.
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The different eating areas were quirky and the food and wine were delicious. Our room had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the breakfast room is just beautiful!
Review 47:The noise of an ? Air- con unit outside the room window (room 11) that kept me awake most of the night.
Review 48:Our evening meal was excellent, also breakfast was very good too
Review 49:The beds were twin, not double, we were unaware of this when booking the room. The water was cool for the morning shower.
Review 50:The shower was great and the room was clean and provided good facilities, breakfast was great too!
Review 51:Wifi not good. Staff friendly and helpful but needed a few more.
Review 52:Afternoon tea and breakfast in dining room / conservatory. Lovely decor. Food excellent.
Review 53:There was nothing I did not like about the hotel and I would definitely recommend it.
Review 54:The venue was lovely and staff were friendly. The ball room and wedding reception were well organised. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast menu had a good selection and you could ask for additional items such as scrambled egg on toast...which is brilliant for vegetarians as it gives even more options.
Review 55:Loved the rooms, the staff were extremely helpful. Dining area is lovely had evening meal in lovely surroundings, lovely hot cooked breakfast and nice lunch in pub garden! Would stay here again!!
Review 56:Restful and comfortable, even when very busy in bar downstairs. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff, e.g. when we arrived just before the restaurant was due to close.
Review 57:The stairs (!) and no fruit for breakfast. Once it was gone, it was gone & they said they could not replenish! I thought 7am was a little early to have run out!
Review 58:The wifi was good, bathroom good and heating controllable
Review 59:The only complaint would be the noise from the central heating system. We were in room 8 and when I stay again I will ask for a different room.
Review 60:The staff were all helpful and friendly. Room was clean with nice touches such as Twinnings tea in various flavours. Food in restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Good selection at breakfast including cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries and various options from the menu such as full English and egg Benedict.
Review 61:Good location and would have been a better stay if they had not been undergoing renovation and decoration using scaffold inside the premises. Should have informed customers prior to the stay.
Review 62:My room was very clean well aired, my beding was lovely clean and white, I loved my bed. The staff were very nice and always smiling, my breakfast was lovely the food was to die for, I truly liked every thing, looking forward to a weekend stay.
Review 63:Requested quiet room but given room 7 where the main window would not shut and the secondary glazing did not cover the road noise and cars leaving the front parking. Alarm requested but this was not implemented.
Review 64:Friendly staff and the warm welcome. Food and service was very good and the room was made up well each day.
Review 65:The Wifi was a bit unreliable, not too big an issue but nowadays shouldn't be noticeable.
Review 66:Room standard, breakfast was excellent, the bar was great at night
Review 67:We were not advised there was a wedding reception at the pub on the night we stayed. Whilst fortunately it didn't bother us as we were out until after 12pm anyway, the loud music might have been a bit of a problem if we had returned earlier in the evening.
Review 68:All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming even though they were all very busy when we arrived. The bar food and the breakfast was very good, it was tasty, cooked freshly and there was a wide selection for us and our friends to choose from.
Review 69:Do not try to leave with a car in the rush hour as nobody want to let your car out onto the flow of traffic.
Review 70:Staff. Very helpfull service much better than hotels I use
Review 71:I have stayed at The Bulls Head several times when in Kent on business. Fantastic stay as usual. Lovely room, friendly staff and the breakfast is wonderful! 10 out of 10 on all levels.
Review 72:As the kitchen was closed for refurbishment, we were told after booking there would be no cooked b'fast. Fair enough, but a reduction in rate would have been appropriate. More importantly, greater effort should have been put into the buffet.
Review 73:The staff were excellent and welcoming. The room was comfortable, quiet, clean and spacious.
Review 74:Refurbishment going on, should have been made aware.Breakfast staff miserable. Bathroom needs decorating.
Review 75:Room was comfortable, Evening meal was good.
Review 76:We had a room over a function room and to say it was noisy was a joke, we was told it would be background noise but the whole room was just banging! However we did get £50 off, but no reply to email we sent to the manager
Review 77:We loved the room, the bar and general atmosphere was all great, would go back but not near any parties!
Review 78:Breakfast times quite early on weekdays The hearing was a hot air conditioning unit.not nice either hot air blowing on you which is very drying on throats etc or when switched off room quickly becomes very cold
Review 79:Restaurant staff excellent so helpful going the extra mile, breakfast excellent quality & well cooked, First room rather pokey but asked to be moved after 1 night which was done with no hassle or fuss and 2 Nd room was very good
Review 80:Ceiling in the bathroom. Paint flaking off all over. But this would not stop me giving this hotel 5 stars.
Review 81:Room very comfortable. Had an evening meal in the Dining room. The food was wonderful the service was 5 star. Breakfast was just as good the next day.
Review 82:Can't get the wi-fi to work
Review 83:Warm welcome, friendly staff, comfortable room and bed, shower that works, excellent breakfast, nice area, easy parking... I could go on.
Review 84:Pub Hotel with warm ambiance. Lively atmosphere.Good breakfast. Perfect location for travelling to London with car. Public transport nearby. Modern bathrooms.
Review 85:The public bar was going through a re fit and this made these cond bar extremely busy.
Review 86:The pub had a really good atmosphere and the food was good and served in atimely fashion even though the pub was very busy.
Review 87:Friendly and efficient reception, good atmosphere. Very homely feel about the place. We arrived early expecting to just to leave our luggage and go. We not only got our room straight away but we were upgraded. Overall, very good experience which was welcome after a very early flight.
Review 88:Floor was wobbly and the cabinet moved with it in an unnerving way causing its doors to bang. Air condition was somewhat weak.
Review 89:The reception accommodated very late arrival without any problems. Kind and professional staff. Very nice breakfast. Decent rooms with not too bad beds and pillows. Good pressure on hot water as this seems to be an issue in many UK homes and hotels. Nice and quaint surroundings. Extra plus for free WiFi. I'd rather pay more for ahotel with WiFi included than a chapter hotel with WiFi cost separate. It shows that management has understood what running ahotel is all about. I usually stay with big chains (Hilton, Sheraton, Radisson etc) as I have had some poor experiences with hotels in the past in the UK. This was a trial run as I needed to be in the area. I will for sure be considering this hotel if I need to stay local in the future. I also write this review to confirm all other reviews which were very helpful when I picked the hotel.
Review 90:Price at the bar - too much, seeing as the prices in Chislehurst centre were far less expensive. Packed car park with builder's vans blocking the entrance and exit making it difficult to manoeuvre.
Review 91:It was adequate for two nights.
Review 92:At £4.89 a pint of Lager is a scandal! There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of pricing other than pure greedy, for that reason alone I would not stay there again.
Review 93:Comfortable and good location
Review 94:Rooms a bit airless. Why, oh why deos every bed now have to be bedecked with cushions and bits of cloth? You just have to find somewhere to put them, fall over them in the night in a small room and/or get too hot. Funny that they see "fashionable cushions" as a plus. Disco was very loud, but couldn't be heard in the rooms.
Review 95:Good food. Busy bars and large beer garden, but plenty of space. Good en suite. Handy location for local wedding.
Review 96:WIFI kept cutting out, décor was a bit tired but mainly that they don't offer room service, they weren't really busy and they couldn't accommodate it for me. Daft really as I ended up going to Domino's pizza so they lost my business and could have made extra on tray service. I would stay there again but only if they introduce room service.
Review 97:nice place, great breakfast, nice staff, great car park, grounds and great location.
Review 98:Unfortunately when the bathroom was in use during the night the glass door enabled the lighting to illuminate the bedroom which was unsettling.
Review 99:The staff and the service provided Together with the quality of food on the breakfast menu
Review 100:The scam email and phone call I received asking me to pay the bill into a bank account in London before I arrived. The couldn't care less attitude of the staff when I asked about it when I was staying there. Also we complained that one couple had been upgraded to a suite and the other to a slightly larger room. The evening manager said she would report to the overall manager but they never got back to us about our complaint.
Review 101:All of the above. Food was excellent as was the rest of the hotel.
Review 102:From the minute we arrived at the bulls head hotel, the staff were very friendly and couldn't help us enough, they helped us with any enquiries we had and made our trip much easier and pleasant. Also the place was very clean and tidy and fresh tea and coffee facilities were put in our room everyday. The food was very nice and the staff could not do enough for us. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay here again myself.
Review 103:Lighting very poor; no good if you want to change and do your make-up before you go out. Breakfast rather basic: no plain joghurt; fruit joghurt had aspartame; no water.
Review 104:Clean room, excellent bed - very comfortable.
Review 105:Noisy air conditioning at night, even when switched off.
Review 106:A very good hotel except for the noisy air conditioning units ( in at least two rooms). A great hotel for deaf guests.
Review 107:No view from window, just an air conditioning unit I think. But we booked late so I guess only room left
Review 108:The area, the ambience in the pub, the room was nice and appreciated it had a bath. Very relaxing.
Review 109:Think the hotel would greatly benefit from new floor coverings on the stairs but otherwise it was a comfortable please to stay for a few days. There seem to be problems with the plumbing in the bathrooms and it might be a good idea to fix all that.
Review 110:The Hotel was well situated for shops and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent. Service was always good and staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 111:Everything you could want from the room and the fact it had been chilled for my arrival on a very hot day was fantastic. Had the seafood platter as a starter - superb Great Italian down the road as well
Review 112:I am speaking for my guests who came from Germany for a party. They were all very happy. And I will certainly recommend the Bull Hotel n Chislehurst
Review 113:as a solo traveller, I felt safe & able to eat alone in the restaurant & bar. An excellent hotel which was ideal for my needs - in fact about to book there again!
Review 114:The bar and staff were warm and friendly. The room was warm and comfortable and the food was very good.
Review 115:The room was lovely and cozy. The food was excellent! Great choice of breakfasts.
Review 116:bed comfortable and food delicious
Review 117:Pillows too hard and big.
Review 118:Clean and friendly. Great brekkie
Review 119:Drink prices were pricey
Review 120:It was central to where we needed to go. Nice pub and good lunch menu
Review 121:Superb service from.the moment we walked in to Reception. Highly recommended.
Review 122:Second stay, just as nice as the first. Nice breakfast, comfortable clean room and friendly staff
Review 123:Room 4 is fantastic ex breakfast
Review 124:Uncomfortable pillows
Review 125:Everything aside for pillows
Review 126:All staff were brilliant
Review 127:Tiny en suite, heated towel rail very close to toilet. Do not like shower only en suites
Review 128:Perfect location for purpose
