Reviews for The Crescent Victoria Hotel

Review 1:Its a 'boutique' hotel so the rooms are small unless you ask for bigger room. This the hotel provided us with - one for my husband and myself and one for my daughter, husband and baby. I would not like to have stayed in one of the smaller rooms. The breakfast was really quite poor. The scrambled eggs had had to sit while the staff found the means of defrosting the smoked salmon. The cooked breakfasts generally were not great.

Review 2:The hotel was nicely designed and the staff were exceptionally helpful.

Review 3:Everything although would have loved a bath! Especially the pillows - can they tell me where they're from as I'd like to buy some identical ones!

Review 4:Very obvious two single beds put together to make a double not comfortable.

Review 5:All staff without exception, special mention to Stuart, Leanne and the head chef. The decor and the finishing touches were beautiful.

Review 6:Room tiny couldn't swing a cat. breakfast very mean, bare minimum! Ate dinner at hotel for 1 night.. Food poor. Badly cooked Macain oven chips with steak. Very expensive poor quality.

Review 7:Location

Review 8:Found the wash basin not clean. Some of the pillows we got have an unpleasant smell.

Review 9:Location was just a couple of minutes walk to Margate Train Station. A good view of the sea in front of the hotel and close to the shops and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 10:Bedroom was a little on the small size, but this is a very small thing.

Review 11:Stayed overnight when visiting family over the holidays. Really pleased we picked this hotel. Been trying to book for a while for other stays in Margate, but have always been unlucky. If you want to book this hotel you will need to book at least 2 months in advance, if not more in high season. Bed very comfy, room nicely decorated with style, breakfast excellent. Very stylish chic hotel with lovely friendly staff and the added advantage of having a nice bar and restaurant on site. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Review 12:The hotel was excellent but the surrounding property was often in a poor state.

Review 13:The position of the hotel across from the sea was great and the accommodation is very comfortable and well designed.

Review 14:Perfect location for concert at winter gardens. Lovely boutique hotel same price as a large chain of hotels but so much nicer. Amazing food, and attention to detail in every part of hotel.

Review 15:The room suited us well as we were only staying one night so did not have much luggage - there wasn't much room for luggage if we did have lots with us.

Review 16:Fantastic room - very comfy bed. Cosy size, used the space well. Tea, coffee & water provided. Very friendly staff. And delicious breakfast! Good location, great view out to the ocean and a short walk to the old town.

Review 17:The bright neon lights of the Winter Garden adverts spoiled the sea view very much indeed. I woke early looking forward to looking out to sea - it was very disappointing.

Review 18:Bedroom very well decorated. And the evening receptionist was great.

Review 19:We had a lovely stay. Room was small but perfectly decorated and spotless. Bed very comfortable too. Staff very friendly and food plenty and delicious!

Review 20:The view from the window in room 11 was not the best view in the world. A sea view would have been perfect

Review 21:Staff, food, comfort and location Staff were very accommodating and helpful. The room was very cosy and the en-suite and shower were perfect

Review 22:Parking could be a problem. Managed to park in a vacated spot after waiting for several minutes.

Review 23:This was the last of five hotels we stayed in on our trip and was the best. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room could not be faulted. Breakfast choice was good and freshly cooked.

Review 24:We stayed here on our wedding weekend at a nearby venue - the staff were very welcoming and made us feel very special from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We were treated to champagne with breakfast and they even put rose petals on our bed when we returned on our wedding night. We couldn't have wished for a more welcoming and friendly hotel. The personal touch made all the difference - thank you!

Review 25:One thing was that the double room we were booked had a bed made of two single mattresses so there was a join in the middle of the bed that wasn't altogether comfortable. Not enough to spoil the stay by any means but a shame given that everything else was so great.

Review 26:The staff were fantastic, accommodating and helpful. We arrived late with a 1.5yo and no dinner and they helped us with room and sorting some food which was great! The breakfast was outstanding, both the service and quality of the food. All in all a great place to be. Rooms were well kept and very nicely fitted out.

Review 27:The rooms, the tea and biscuits...bathroom, especially the floor. The staff friendly and professional. Breakfast: The soft boiled eggs were perfect.

Review 28:I arrived late in the evening, (having previously phoned to inform them), and I was able to eat one of the best meals I had had on my travels, and one of the chefs took my case up the 37 stairs to my beautiful room with a view! The staff were so helpful, the tea bags and water supplied in the room were good quality, I really could not fault this hotel! They even supplied me with an adaptor to charge my phone as I had lost mine on my travels.

Review 29:Location overlooking back of winter garden

Review 30:The boutique element and personal treatment given to us as one was gluten Free vegetarian and other vegetarian, special evening meal cooked for us by chef

Review 31:the stairs - we were in the attic! The shower was useless no power just a trickle. The bathrooms had very little shelving. The cupboards are too thin!

Review 32:Very nice hotel convenient to Winter Gardens

Review 33:We were celebrating 50 years of marriage and the hotel made a lovely gesture of a room upgrade and a bottle of wine in our room as a gift. Very thoughtful. We ate dinner and breakfast both were very good. The staff were all friendly. You will have to look very hard for a better place in Margate.

Review 34:quality is the keyword here - room was not huge but very comfortable and impeccably clean - great ambiance and the staff all very friendly. Restaurant and bar also comfortable and food very good.

Review 35:Couple of suggestions rather than dislikes, room 10 needs heavy curtain and draft excluders at base of door to stop the noise with adjoining room. It wasn't really a problem for us but can see how it would be. If you don't want to lose shower door, a rubber stop between door and sink would be a good idea as the door inevitably knocks against sink when you go in and out of shower. And that is it ! And again, these are just little things we noticed, but after a 3 night stay there were truly no problems and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Review 36:The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, couldn't have done more really. The food was excellent, from the breakfast to the dinner. The chef needs looking after ! Very enjoyable stay, would definitely go again :)

Review 37:Nothing to report

Review 38:Great welcome and lovely room with view. The restaurant catered very well for vegetarians and the coffee vodka rounded off a perfect meal!

Review 39:Bar area and restaurant are too close together and merge into one during peak dinner service making it slightly un welcoming if you just want a drink

Review 40:Spacious and stylish room with iron and ironing board !

Review 41:We stayed for 3 nights but on our return to our room late on our last night we found the room had not been cleaned or the bed made we left our room at 9am that morning and did not return till gone 11pm so there was plenty of time

Review 42:great location staff very friendly

Review 43:50 min wait for dinner food, 25 min wait for breakfast, zipped double bed room 9 not comfortable

Review 44:Lovely staff, decor, central location, sea view a must

Review 45:Did not like the noise of the flags outside of the window at night. The traffic noise was a bit annoying.

Review 46:Liked the decor, the sea views, the staff, the meals.

Review 47:Lovely hotel, fantastic food and all the staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful, especially Stuey, who helped make our wedding anniversary a day to remember.

Review 48:Room number 4 to definitely avoid due to the flags flapping noise all night and the road lights coming through the supposedly "blinders" in to the room.

Review 49:Excellent location

Review 50:No double glazing so the flags kept me awake

Review 51:The staff were very friendly... Food was fantastic at there resturant... The room was decorated lovely n the bed was very comfy

Review 52:we had to walk up about 5 flights of stairs and the bed was quite small for two people!

Review 53:the hotel as been refurbished to a high standard. Everything that could be important to each and everyone was taken into account!, the hotel receptionist was very helpful and courteous, the hotel was very clean.

Review 54:Needs a good clean in the ensuite we had and a lick of paint in the bedrooms. Big rim of scum around the plug hole was really off putting. The cooked breakfast had good ingredients but was an absolutely tiny portion (and I'm not a big eater).

Review 55:Nice decor and great location

Review 56:Be warned that if you have a room with a balcony you could end up with an unwanted visitor! We came back at 11pm to find a pigeon had come through the open window and was roosting in the corner of the room!

Review 57:The room was nicely decorated and spacious with views over the sea. The bed was huge and really comfortable

Review 58:The street outside was filthy

Review 59:The lady at reception was very welcoming and professional. The room was beautiful if not slightly cramped for the money. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel

Review 60:Only down side was amount of steps, but you do expect it in a place like that, and lack of parking.

Review 61:The staff were friendly from the time we set foot in the door till the time we left. Food was lovely, better than we expected. Our room was great with great sea views.

Review 62:No choice in bed warmth. It's a duvet - .too hot or a sheet. Why not a blanket in the cupboard. We either baked or froze, which spoilt the stay somewhat.

Review 63:Staff, room, bed etc

Review 64:No lift and the stairs are very steep and narrow. Not good for older people or anyone with a disability, and difficult to manage with heavy luggage.

Review 65:Very pleasant small Hotel just opposite the Winter Gardens, so ideal if you are attending a function there. Staff are the best thing about this Hotel - always friendly, helpful and welcoming. Wifi is excellent and very fast. Freshly cooked breakfast also a plus point.

Review 66:the hotel is lovely the way it has been refurbished, the expense spared. the staff are all so lovely as well nothing too much trouble. we ate in the restaurant on both nights with friends and it was very good as was the breakfast.

Review 67:Flags at front of building were noisy in our room. Had problems getting through front door.

Review 68:Good room and well laid out. numerous staff at breakfast so everything served quickly and hot.

Review 69:Loved our seaview, but that also meant being right next to flags outside which flapped loudly all night in the wind.

Review 70:Friendly, great service, great location

Review 71:Good location, not far from town. Excellent décor. Very smartly dressed restaurant staff. All staff very friendly Delicious breakfast We had a sea view room. Delicious evening meal in the restaurant one night. (stayed 2 nights)

Review 72:We loved our room - it was small, as expected for a Georgian building, but beautifully decorated and felt luxurious, and cosy. Somehow they managed to fit a lovely ensuite shower in too!! The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Review 73:long staircase to room bed comfortable but rather small in length for both of us bedroom rather cramped decor in dinning room

Review 74:location - lovely surprise staff - all really outstandingly friendly outdoor area to relax nice decor in bedroom

Review 75:My room was on ground floor so window looked out onto hotel courtyard and was very noisy until 12.30 p.m

Review 76:Room was lovely. Pretty and a good size with everything you need and lovely bathroom

Review 77:The rooms did not have any air conditioning to keep cool so it became quite stuffy. The room had marks on the wall and some of the tiles in the bathroom were coming off. Not majo issues but just need to be aware of keeping things up to date to keep good clientele coming back

Review 78:I like the staff at the hotel, they were friendly and helpful and chatty. Excellent service too. The food was excellent but I was only told about your excellent restaurant on the morning I was leaving. I think when booking you should ask people if they want to reserve a table in the evenings and you should attract more external customers to the restaurant to help with the atmosphere. The breakfast food was great so it was a shame I wasn't able to enjoy evening food too.

Review 79:A fabulous hotel experience. Wonderful, friendly staff, gorgeous rooms with comfortable beds, and excellent breakfast. Great location. Would stay here again. Worth noting that there are four floors - check before booking if stairs are a problem for you.

Review 80:Room no ! was noisy due to creaking floor above and door to Reception slamming loudly. Being on the ground floor, there was alot of street noise. The bathroom was too small and the hand basin useless: too small and the plug didn't work

Review 81:Staff were excellent and the furniture and decoration are superb. The restaurant served very good food at low prices. The drinks were also reasonably priced.

Review 82:The location not in a good area - mostly tired, run down and dirty. All of the surrounding buildings were shambolic. There are better locations. Street parking is horendous

Review 83:The decor was fresh and interesting if not a little over the top. Location close to old town and several major tourist attractions. Most of staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 84:Margate is far from its former glory, but is still worth a visit. It's handy to Dover if you are going on the Ferry

Review 85:Beautiful restoration recently done. Everything was first class.on site restaurant is excellent and we'll priced.Staff all terrific.

Review 86:Nothing to dislike. All brilliant.

Review 87:The hotel is luxurious and the staff are lovely. Particularly liked the lovely fluffy towels. The location is perfect too.

Review 88:Margate itself is up and coming , but not quite there yet !

Review 89:A small attractive converted town house hotel with friendly helpful staff , a good restaurant and bar with a pleasant courtyard. The restaurant food was delicious

Review 90:From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely, couldn't do enough for you, the rooms were beautiful and spotless. And the food was glorious can't recommend this hotel enough, keep up the hard work everyone.

Review 91:On the web site there was no mention that bedrooms were situated over several floors without the benefit of a lift-no fun when over 70 and carrying luggage. Breakfast was accompanied by a constant bleeping from the security alarm-staff turning it off each time they passed(Faulty Towers?) . obviously the chef that cooked the breakfast food was not the same as the one cooking food in the evening- poached eggs inedible. Bedrooms at the back overlook adjacent uncared for properties.

Review 92:evening meal excellent

Review 93:The room was quite compact, would have been nice to have slightly more space to store our case. Cocktails in the bar were a little pricey too!

Review 94:Loved the decor and the breakfast room/ evening restaurant and bar was lovely, with gorgeous food! Staff were all really nice and chatty too.

Review 95:beautifully fitted, out rooms...... Our room was small but perfectly furnished. Breakfast was excellent And liked free water in the bedrooms. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Review 96:The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant staff were very accommodating regarding special requests. Lovely atmosphere and my beautifully decorated single room was very well appointed and very comfortable.

Review 97:The dining room decor. Cow hide chair backs complete with fur ! Tacky wall decor- a stags antlers in a green neon heart !! The outfit of the waiter - Tattoos and bling.

Review 98:The hotel was clean and staff helpful. It was a short walk from the Turner Contemporary Gallery.

Review 99:The courtyard area which captures the evening sun was a hidden gem. All the staff we met were friendly and polite this hotel is perfect for single travellers too! Loved the white company products too!

Review 100:Nothing!

Review 101:Lovely hotel, very comfortable, classy, spotlessly clean very helpful and friendly staff, bonus was the courtyard music with djs playing and our vip wristbands included, magic!

Review 102:There was very loud music playing in the courtyard by the hotel directly outside our bedroom window from our arrival until 10:30pm. It was the Soul Weekend, but we hadn't been informed and it was not peaceful at all. It was quite unreasonable that for £120 we had to tolerate that level of noise. The windows are single glazed so did not keep the sound out.

Review 103:It was very clean.

Review 104:Great boutique hotel, the area is a little run down in places but plenty of development going on in the surrounding area will help to make the overall experience much better.

Review 105:The only thing was the parking situation was a bit of a problem which spoiled it a bit.

Review 106:The room was beautiful with great attention paid to detail, definite luxury. The bathroom was the same. Lots of money had been spent on this accomodation, and it showed. I loved it.

Review 107:The staff were extremely nice and helpful. Our room was highly satisfactory and the plus was the back terrace where we had cocktails, and the restaurant where we dined 2 nights in a row.

Review 108:A delightful hotel, well placed for the main town and the new Turner Gallery. Well decorated rooms and an attractive courtyard (though it was a bit chilly for us when we were there)

Review 109:Although it was a very nice, perfectly decent hotel, we thought it was overpriced at £144.

Review 110:The staff were wonderful - welcoming, friendly, helpful. Location was good, wonderful sea views, lovely big comfy bed.

Review 111:-No parking -Could not take food up the room from the restaurant, which was a bit annoying with a young baby -No lift, which again made it hard having a young baby

Review 112:-Room was a good size with a great view -Location was good, walking distance from Main Sands -Very clean hotel

Review 113:On the first night we were directed the wrong way when looking for a take away. We found ourselves in a rather run down area and were a little uncomfotable.

Review 114:Decor, comfort, view

Review 115:Shower room very compact with nowhere to put toilet bag apart from on a narrow shelf above the toilet. No room on tiny sink to place toiletries either.

Review 116:Staff are amazing - so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. We were thoroughly spoilt. We will definitely return.

Review 117:We had booked a seaview room, but room was on ground floor, where the view wasn't much, saw more of the road, passersby and bus stop across and yet cost similar to other sea view rooms. The floor above was very creaky, so had to endure lots of noise from people moving about late at night, as a result not sleeping well.

Review 118:Nice hotel, just a short stroll away from main old town of Margate

Review 119:Nothing at all, I suffer from OCD and cleanliness is very important to me, I have stayed in many hotels and this one was by far in the top league for cleanliness,

Review 120:We had a fantastic stay, the staff were very friendly and more than helpful, the room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable, we could not find any faults with our stay, if ever in Margate again we would definitely stay here again,

Review 121:Breakfast is unreliable and slow. Scrambled eggs harder than gravel cos "chef won't" cook them softer - but if the manager intervenes they can make them ok!

Review 122:Comfort and decor - reception staff very good. The sea view is special.

Review 123:The only tiny problem was parking. If you have a car you will need to find a space in one of the side streets around the hotel.

Review 124:The Crescent Victoria is one of the best little hotels I have stayed at for a long time. The staff were so helpful, professional and friendly and the manager was on hand to make sure everyone was happy. The hotel staff even left a bottle of sparkling wine on ice and a birthday card for my dad who turned 84 while we were there! Apart from the fabulous decor designed by a local artist and interior designer (every room is different) , the views of the sea from the bedrooms are stunning. The hotel is only a few minutes walk form the Turner Gallery on the seafront and a few minutes walk form the centre of town with an array of pubs, restaurants and cafes to choose from. The breakfasts were fantastic and the evening meals were to die for. The sheets were of the smoothest Egyptian cotton and the pillows and duvets were all real feather ones. All together, this was a really relaxing, comfortable three-day break. I will definitely be going back!

Review 125:Limited on-street parking, neighbourhood in close proximity is dirty with rubbish everywhere, but this is not the fault of the hotel who keep their frontage and plot area immaculate. The hotel stands out in the neighbourhood which overall is run down. The starters on the evening meal menu are in my opinion, priced high for the portion received, but tasted good nevertheless. The WiFi was Temperamental between devices.

Review 126:Very friendly staff, very clean hotel, lovely room with comfy bed and sea view. Great tasting and presented home cooked food. A good place to stay for a business trip or short leisure break.

Review 127:A shame that the houses surrounding the hotel are badly in need of refurbishment.

Review 128:I loved the modern décor and the efficient and friendly staff. Attractions close by are the Shell Grotto, the Tudor House, the Old Quarter and the Turner Centre making it an ideal location to soak up the holiday atmosphere.

Review 129:Room a bit cramped, ridiculously warm 13 TOG duvet for 24° room temperature!

Review 130:Nice staff, good modern facilities, great location for Turner Contemporary gallery.
