Reviews for Pavillon Henri IV

Review 1:Room was cold and the windows could not be closed properly, but the weather was awful too - very windy so it didn't help at all.

Review 2:The hotel is just a pure essence of French chic. It is my favorite hotel! And I love the view from breakfast room!

Review 3:No Gym available and gate to the park closed at 5pm so it was not possible to go for at run.

Review 4:Very nice view over paris and proximity to city center of St Germain and RER.

Review 5:no complaints, the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good quality with a great view to enjoy. We did not have an evening meal in the hotel but it smelt lovely just the same.

Review 6:historic building in a wonderful location close to the national archaeology museum (the reason for our visit) but a treasure in itself with great views over the plain towards Paris.

Review 7:No late bar or anywhere to go for a drink, alcoholic or otherwise. Stingy rations of tea/coffee in the room. Very expensive drinks and food.

Review 8:Location. Grandeur. Beautifully designed and appointed public and private rooms.

Review 9:Beautiful hotel in lovely setting - we were upgraded to a room with a view towards the city, with the Eiffel Tower visible in the distance. Short walk into St Germain-en-Laye, with plenty of shops and restaurants

Review 10:The staff were as gracious and helpful as one could have wished and complemented the calm elegance and serenity of this singular historic setting--the birthplace of Louis XIV. A truly inspiring setting for business or leisure.

Review 11:poor reception service; room was elegant but dated, no a/c. Not as good a food in the restaurant as there should be; used for big weddings and the like at weekends.

Review 12:Fabulous location; fabulous views over Paris; excellent restaurants just 200m away

Review 13:The admin was shoddy - the printer could not print my invoice and receipt on arrival and three days later on leaving it was still not working The cost and quality of a coffee was outrageous! Working at the desk in my room uncomfortable and cramped with plugs poorly located.

Review 14:The location is SPECTACULAR The views magnificent Some of the staff truly delightful

Review 15:We didn't know breakfast was included if it was. Should be more clear.

Review 16:Love the setting, the history, the view, the flowers and the quietness. Also closeness to the RER.

Review 17:ease of working at a desk in my room somewhat constricted Wifi a bit slow Facilities somewhat limited

Review 18:The location is spectacular - the staff are friendly and professional - the place itself deeply relaxing.

Review 19:The breakfast was tired and poorly stocked Food dried out because of extreme heat from morning sun without the curtains drawn. Noise from local louts who congregated in street below our side windows well after midnight

Review 20:Welcoming staff Room size and facilities Cleanliness and accessories Exceptional view from our room Security parking onsite Walking distance to tourist sites, restaurants & shops Closeness to public transport

Review 21:Breakfast should be better and especially with some variety. We stayed there for more than a week and it was the same spread everyday.

Review 22:Beautiful location and lovely views from the room. A short walk away from the metro and the local market. Loved it.

Review 23:Le petit dejeuner. Selection not good. Eggs and bacon overcooked. Difficult to get fresh coffee only jugs available and coffee not very hot. Service not good but view was good. For 19 euros more effort could be made and a better breakfast would have made the complete experience much better. It is poor marketing to do a bad job of breakfast in an Hotel in such a good location.

Review 24:They are listed as a four star hotel, but comparing to other hotels I would rank it as a three star hotel on a great location

Review 25:The location is fantastic! Views from the breakfast/dining area are splendid. And Saint-Germain en Laye is a wonderful small town close to Paris. The staff is most friendly.

Review 26:After driving for 3 hours, we arrived at 4:05 pm (16:05 hours) to find that our room was not ready! The receptionist said that they had had a large wedding and that is the reason. This is unacceptable!!! In most hotels of any level of comfort, rooms are ready by 3 pm. We had not just walked in; we had RESERVATIONS! In addition, nothing was offered to us in lieu of this faux-pas, perhaps a drink at the bar, free appetizer, free continental breakfast... Instead we went for a walk, came back at 5 pm (17:00 hours) and still it was not ready; another room was being cleaned! We were told!!! We waited at the lobby for 30 minutes until we were told that our room was ready. Never again...

Review 27:What large the room and bathrooms were as well as quality of bed.

Review 28:threadbare and stained carpet. patched-up paint on the walls. Dust on the dining room windowsill which clearly hadn't been dusted for days. For a hotel in this price-range, and with pretensions to luxury status, the shabbiness is getting beyond a joke.

Review 29:large room. well-equipped bathroom. comfortable. superb view

Review 30:Room a little tired (carpet, paintwork) but clean and comfortable - certainly should not put you off. Room service omelette was good, club sandwich poor

Review 31:Location; view; spacious room; bathroom; bed; easy parking; good value for money. Would stay again.

Review 32:Birthplace of Louis XIV, room with a stellar view overlooking all of Paris, two steps from a park and extensive forest... wonderful balance of Paris and peace

Review 33:Room carpet is clean, but we prefer hard wood floors Dinner food was way too salty WiFi is inconvenient as requires connection every time

Review 34:Bathroom size and quality Magnificent view of Paris Easy and free parking

Review 35:Unforgiveable not to provide air conditioning in a hotel of this quality. Room fan only provided on request during a 33 deg C heatwave. Initial bottled water in the room not renewed after the first day . The single lift was also out of operation for a period during our visit with no obvious urgency about getting it fixed. Quite a struggle for elderly legs in 33deg C heat to reach the 3rd floor. Restaurant staff did not seem particularly friendly. Some did not appear to have attended customer satisfaction training! Breakfast was a rather haphazard experience. We had to request some basic items like coffee and croissants to be replaced on the buffet when they had run out. The staff seemed to be unaware of this need.

Review 36:Location . Lovely position on the edge of the park with superb panoramic views over The Seine and Paris from the rear facing rooms and the restaurant.

Review 37:Great size rooms with incredible views over the Seine and Paris in the distance. Well appointed just next to the Saint Germaine en Laye castle and gardens. Good restaurant terrace not to be missed even for a drink.

Review 38:The bed cover was stained and room service was disappointing. First breakfast was very good (although cheap orange juice was served when I was expecting a squeezed orange), but the second one was prepared by a novice who didn't know what to include. So half of the usual breakfast was missing, and 2 of the jam jars were already used!! I was offered breakfast when I complained, which I appreciated, but still the experience was disappointing.

Review 39:Beautiful room, amazing view on Paris.

Review 40:Bedroom very small, no air conditioning, no relaxing areas no where in room to relax other than the bed Expensive for quality of rooms Paris view only available for top price rooms/suites Didn't feel the hotel was welcoming nowhere to chill over drinks or coffee. Hardly any staff around

Review 41:The location and views over Paris great Large modern bathroom Large car park St Germsin a beautiful town lots of eateries Easy access into Paris RER only few mins walk takes about 25 mins on the train

Review 42:When I arrived reception staff could not even tell me where local market was. No help with bags.

Review 43:Later more experienced stall much better informed on locality.

Review 44:Location. View, peacefulness, comfort

Review 45:Restaurant very $$$

Review 46:Staff was excellent and very friendly.

Review 47:So many steps to get down to the river

Review 48:Location and View

Review 49:Very nice hotel, beautiful building and location

Review 50:Breakfast was expensive for what was on offer.

Review 51:Mostly everything.

Review 52:an unfriendly chief hotel manager

Review 53:the garden

Review 54:Bed -not comfortable for me, too hard and twin beds put together.

Review 55:Staff, building, view, atmosphere

Review 56:Nothing!

Review 57:Elegance of the choice of furnishings, the cuisine in the restaurant, quality of waiter service, the space of the bedroom

Review 58:Double bed rather narrow!

Review 59:Location, furnishing and general ambiance.

Review 60:Nothing

Review 61:Hotel room and the view from the room.

Review 62:Very good dinner on the terrace with a panoramic view of Paris - perfect!

Review 63:No AC ? Nobody to take care of my luggage. Restaurant closes too early. Can't have toom service after 10pm

Review 64:Location and neighberhood

Review 65:The room was very well furnished but the carpet was distinctly grubby and should be replaced. The room could really do with air con. The two nights that we stayed were very hot and we needed to have the windows open. Unfortunately as they opened inward it revealed that the outside of the windows were in desperate need of repainting. The free wifi is very frustrating as one needed to re register every time you wanted to use it. Please do not get me wrong this is a fine hotel but the points that I have mentioned do take the edge off.

Review 66:The location is fantastic. The view of Paris from our room and from the restaurant was superb. Breakfast was very good and we had one dinner which was excellent.

Review 67:I thought some of the staff were rather unfriendly.

Review 68:I loved the peaceful atmosphere, the view from the terrace, the room was comfortable, location was excellent--a pleasant stroll into town---a town I never tire of visiting. I am now booking my next visit.

Review 69:-The breakfast was a little disappointing. However the reception staff addressed our concerns immediately and effectively, thank you.

Review 70:-Nice calm ambience. -Terrific location. -The views across the Seine to the Paris skyline. -The car parking. -The surrounding parkland.

Review 71:could hear items being dragged along a floor early morning and some evenings which we thought came from the kitchens two floors below us.

Review 72:location. comfort. free parking. professional staff.

Review 73:Try to avoid 1st floor, parking lot side! Excellent value for express breakfast. Even Novotel can't beat it

Review 74:Great location, charming place, view on park and Paris is a privilege. Breakfast is nice

Review 75:The hotel completely ignored the fact that my wife is a Coeliac despite being advised. More crucially they did not reserver us a table on Valentines night. Where did they think we were going to eat especially as they had been advised about my wife being a Coeliac. We ended up having to have a picnic in the room - not romantic !! This spoilt the whole stay for us. We had eaten there before and it was the sole reason for booking at the beginning of our 4 month tour of France and Italy. They showed no concern.

Review 76:Quality of room Quality of food but breakfast poor value for money compared with other hotels in which we have stayed

Review 77:i got a smoking room... didn't know that i needed to ask for non-smoking. when i got home all of my clothes were smelly (i don't smoke). Best to request Non Smoking just to be safe!

Review 78:really lovely, helpful staff, very quiet hotel (off season), they offered me a late check out. a really nice big bathtub!

Review 79:Our Standard room was the smallest room we have ever stayed in. It was situated over the kitchen, facing the carpark. The noises from the kitchen were extremely loud & went on to very late at night, coupled to people leaving from the car park, we found it impossible to sleep. The bathroom was very nice, looked almost new. However the almost floor to ceiling window was plane glass with only net curtains. We had to resort to groping around in the dark because if we put the light on we could be seen by anyone in the car park.

Review 80:RER station 3minutes walk. Fantastic View from one side of the Hotel.

Review 81:The shower door didn't close properly so the floor got very wet.

Review 82:The location and the view (superb). Friendly, helpful staff, quiet room. The absence of snobbery in such an elegant place. Very good dinner at a reasonable price, and very nice breakfast.

Review 83:The place was dirty. What is the point of a fabulous view if the indows are filthy? Staff were friendly but the service was the usual Parisian "couldn't care less". No air con and saying "there are fans in every room" was just a lie. Very noisy fellow guests. There was a big wedding on so the rest of us were just pushed aside.

Review 84:Fantastic view

Review 85:No air conditioning so really hot in bedroom. Fan provided in bedroom but it was too noisy to sleep through. Breakfast was not well organised, needs management overview and training, staff were surprised when guests arrived for breakfast and there were no plates or cold milk for cereal.

Review 86:Fantastic views of Paris from the west. Comfortable bed and recently refitted bathroom. Great sized bedrooms. Dinner menu was great, as were the staff. Historic building and location. St Germain-en-Laye is a delightful town with many nice restaurants and boutique shops. Easy to use RER train into central Paris just a few minutes walk from hotel. Great alternative to central Paris hotel.

Review 87:My key failed to work on 5 different occassions and each time I was toldthat it should so back up to the 3rd floor I went. The room had zero airconditioning so you open the windows, pray for a breeze and hope themosquitoes don't show up...no such luck on any of those prayers. 2Ndday the new room failed to produce hot water. I payed my bill for theroom and later discovered that I had other charges but no receipt forthose charges of almost 2200 euros. When I called I was told I was wrongand could I send them a copy of my bill. Not too friendly on the phone!

Review 88:The location is great, the views are fantastic and the room as newlyremodeled although a shower would have been nice.

Review 89:Disappointing that when we arrived on the Sunday that the dinning roomwas closed for dinner thus we went out to eat but more disappointmentwhen we returned to the hotel for an after dinner drink only to findthat the hotel doesn't have a bar and as there was no waiting staffon duty we could not get a drink to enjoy on the terrace overlookingthe valley. The following night drinks were only served with dinner andwe really struggled to get a pre-dinner drink to enjoy before going into the dinning room, it seemed to be a strange request to the staff areal shame.

Review 90:Lovely hotel tastefully modernised. Stunning location with fantasticviews. Great location for visiting Paris, close to the Metro.

Review 91:The booking process, which required me to give my credit card detailsand confirm the reservation afte I thought it was over. Result: double-booking and a cancellation fee, although booking.com had warned thefirst booking was the last room available!

Review 92:The location and class.

Review 93:The view over the car park was a bit disappointing and loud peopleoutside until early hours in the morning. No tea or coffee facilities inthe hotel room for the price charged this facility was expected. Nobreakfast tea in the dining room, staff stated they had run out.

Review 94:The location was good easy access to town and city, beautiful viewsstaff friendly, we did expect a view over the city.

Review 95:Great view of Paris. Easy access to restaurants and shopping in St. Germaine. Friendly staff and overall a great place to stay and relax with nearby access to the RER if you wan to go to Paris centre.

Review 96:Nuffink!!!

Review 97:Excellent room, we were upgraded. Superb location right on the edge ofgreater Paris. Friendly staff (including the cat and pug dog!)Brilliant bathroom.

Review 98:Bed was too small: 190cm long. You expect a king size bed in this kind of "De Luxe" room or suite. Room service waiter was poorly trained.

Review 99:The scenery. Beautiful view from the room : hotel is on a cliff nearby a park. The dining room is beautiful. Excellent food. No standardized service. Friendly staff. Nearby Paris by train.

Review 100:While majority of staff excellent we did experience some overofficiousness from a member of staff. Not needed. Rooms are wellappointed but while we upgraded to a superior room we were at the frontof the property overlooking the car park. Can be quite noisy at nightwith deliveries etc which we did not expect given the price paid.

Review 101:Excellent location and comfortable rooms. Majority of staff very helpfuland attentive. Parking on site. St Germain en Laye is a vibrant andaffluent superb of Paris with lenty of good bars and restaurants andexcellent bus and rail connections into the City.

Review 102:Room was very warm at night!!

Review 103:Could walk to heart of St Germain en Laye for good restaurants and cafes and the RER station for direct link to central Paris and all its attractions.

Review 104:The reception people could be a bit more friendly. The cleaning ladies were very friendly.

Review 105:The location was perfect. Not in Paris, but nearby.Quiet! The beautiful vieuw on Paris from the patio. The room was every day very clean.

Review 106:High price; would have been nice to include the minibar items and breakfast for the price.

Review 107:It took the place of a more expensive hotel trip I wanted. I loved the decor; it was old French and so made the old house so fun and romantic. The view was gorgeous and even cooler from a balcony outside French doors. Breakfast was delicious and they had a fan for the heat (it's an old house converted to a hotel, so I assume too diffiuclt to put in AC). It's the birthplace of King Louis the IVX which we didn't know at the time and it's next to a park and a cathedral converted to a museum. They spoke English and were very helpful. They didn't charge my card until we'd had our stay and trusted us to tell them if we'd eaten breakfast or any mini-bar items; this allowed me to pay in cash which we love to do.

Review 108:room was lacking Tea/Coffee facilities, is this a french thing??

Review 109:an excellent hotel, where the staff were efficient, helpful and made our stay feel special. wonderful views looking out over the seine valley and Paris which made it even more exquisite.

Review 110:The only suggestion I would make is that the bathrooms have racks orhooks for towels to save on towel washing. The hotel has a signsaying they try to be eco friendly, but their bathrooms have no placeto hang towels.

Review 111:Location and view is outstanding for a lovely area outside of Paris. Itwas relaxing and quiet. Staff were very helpful.

Review 112:Before booking, make sure this hotel is not hosting any functions, or in particular, a wedding The noise is very loud and inescapable. Don't stay on the top floor, it has not been refurbished.

Review 113:View over seine valley

Review 114:Deep-frozen reheated baguette at breakfast totally unacceptable for this kind of location.

Review 115:Great location, great hotel, fabulous view, and quiet. Stayed there several times already. Staff always been friendly but slightly on the snobby side.

Review 116:Reception staff were rude. Rooms advertised as ready at 2pm. On arrival they insisted that it was 3pm even though I showed a printout with the time!

Review 117:restaurant was excellent. Location & facilities were splendid

Review 118:The staff could have been a litle more attentive ~ or at least smile!

Review 119:We have stayed at the hotel twice before. Each time the restaurant wasclosed for alterations and/or refurbishment. On this occation therestaurant was open and we dined superbly with local friends. The roomwas large, the bathroom excellent and had all amenities. The locationoverlooking Paris was excellent.

Review 120:Quality of food was slightly disappointing, but the view from the restaurant more than makes up for it! Breakfast could be improved by topping up the limited cooked food (scrambled eggs/sausages) regularly rather than just leaving it to dry out - not very appetising! If staying at a weekend check the weddings situation - the hotel mgt were excellent at pre-warning us but the hotel is large enough for weddings not to spoil your stay.

Review 121:A fantastic location high up to the west of Paris with extensive views to La Defense and parts of the city. 25 minutes by RER from Gare du Nord and well worth the trip. Beautiful landscaped park by the hotel. Traditional French ambience in a bustling small town. Highly recommended - and the hotel is even the birthplace of Louis XIV! The town of St-Germain-en-laye where the hotel is located is definitely worth a visit, particularly for the cheese shop!

Review 122:We were disappointed with the quality of the breakfast. We ate at about 9 am and there was no-one there initially to get our coffee. We expected great things after our evening meal but felt that the breakfast was 'average'.

Review 123:We loved the location, and the food in the evening was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was great, in the room.

Review 124:Lack of in-room tea/coffee facilities is annoying, especially forinterncontnental travellers who may wake at an early hour. For businesstravel an iron in each room would also be useful.

Review 125:It is good to stay in a place that is not one of the "plastic" chainhotels you find these days. Additional charge for a Paris view is worththe money on a short stay.

Review 126:The ambiance.

Review 127:Alles fantastisch uitzicht op Parijs, klasse hotel

Review 128:breakfast can be enriched.

Review 129:perfect view, perfect stay.

Review 130:Breakfast was expensive compared to what was offered

Review 131:Good bed, good bathroom, good shower

Review 132:Very few facilities No dedicated bar

Review 133:Location Comfort Views Fine dining

Review 134:Very hot when we stayed - no air conditioning in bedrooms - no fans offered. Staff not interested.

Review 135:Location, décor.

Review 136:Very noisy in the morning Food smell in all the ground floor

Review 137:the view from the restaurant the building

Review 138:Excellent stay at 20' by train from La Défense
