Reviews for The Richmoor Hotel
Review 1:Was all good so nothing to fault.
Review 2:Very friendly staff, especially Lorraine the owner as she made time to speak to her guests.Lovely spacious room.Fantastic breakfast.Excellent location to town.
Review 3:Bathroom needs refit shower awful. Breakfast not good. Buffet style ran out of most both mornings. Canteen feel about it.
Review 4:Nice size room with comfy bed.
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:The lady who runs the hotel, along with her hard working staff, worked their socks off to make new years eve special for all her guests. Would also recommend the restaurant. £20 for excellent 3 course meal. Will definitely return.
Review 7:Booked last minute for New Year's Eve. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was served up to 12 noon which was great considering it was New Year's Day and a very late night before. Overall we were happy.
Review 8:The staff were great very helpfully.room was comfortable!. Bath room bit dated. But was told refit due!..Breakfast made to order was faultless. .on the hot plate found went cold very quickly..had a lovely few days stay And would stay again.. ..
Review 9:This place must get alot of old miserable codges stay here. Room was spotless, bar was clean. Nothing bad at all. Can only assume the bad reviews are from toffs who need to get a grip!
Review 10:Not sure we should be met by the owner who was eating KFC we asked for gluten free bread for breakfast at the time of booking but it did not appear.
Review 11:The staff were very friendly and most helpful
Review 12:Parking very poor, a young member of staff moved our car some 200 yards down the road to make space for contractors vans. Not sure he was covered by insurance. Found breakfast very mediocre, scrambled eggs over cooked.
Review 13:Sea view
Review 14:We had no kettle which had been removed due to leaking. The leak had not been cleaned up. The property seemed tired and in need of a bit of a face lift. Staff on a quiet evening did not appear very enthusiastic. The free parking was unavailable as a van was blocking the entrance. Our room was at the front of the property and was too noisy for us.
Review 15:The room and bedding were clean. The morning staff were bright and helpful. Our booking was moved with no problem.
Review 16:Nothing really not much not to like as I said good value
Review 17:Clean comfortable family room and very friendly staff. Good location with sea view good value for money. Don't be afraid to ask for food not on menu very obliging and excellent just sorry we did not relise this until second to last day.
Review 18:The only thing was bathroom a bit on the small side and a bit dated but that is reflected in the price.
Review 19:Friendly and welcoming staff. Location, right on the beach, shops short walk away. Beds were clean and all that you needed in a room. We felt very at home here. The breakfast was very good and waiting staff attentive. The price was good and we would definitely stay again.
Review 20:staff seemed too busy to speak to. breakfast 1st day was quite poor, had to wait ages for bacon and other food had gone cold when it arrived
Review 21:location was great, right on the seafront
Review 22:Parking is restricted in the area so was given a permit to park in the surrounding streets but dragging suitcases to the Hotel was a bit of a pain however all Hotesl in the area are in the same Boat.
Review 23:Friendly Staff. Good Hot Breakfast. Clean rooms and quiet.
Review 24:The room was a little small and was extremely hot even with the window open and the fan on. The bed was a bit wobbly but comfortable. Breakfast was poor. When we arrived at the resturant, a lot of the food trays were empty. We were waiting for around 20 minutes until the rest of the food came out and we could eat our full breakfast. When we left, the receptionist wasn't by the desk so we rang the bell. He then turned up and said he was in the middle of breakfast to which it made myself and my partner feel a little awkward as though we shouldn't have rung the bell.
Review 25:Couldn't fault the location of the hotel and the view from our room was fantastic with views across the beach and sea
Review 26:The bathroom needed modernising, green shower tray ! The toilet made a horrendous noise after flushing ! Water warm not hot , parking not great !
Review 27:The staff very friendly the kitchen had just closed on our arrival but the chef opened and cooked us the best homemade steak chips ever tasted ! Relaxed atmosphere
Review 28:Whole hotel needs revamp its going back to 1970's... Breakfast was fried eggs put on a hot plate..for sometime.not at all appetising. More suitable for workers.. Bedding unironed...
Review 29:To be honest nothing ..
Review 30:Nothing that bothered us.
Review 31:Jon on reception was fantastic, Lorraine & Andy were very helpful and made us feel as if we had known them for years. Breakfast was fantastic. We had a seaview double room with balcony (thanks Lorraine) the room was quite small but that was not an issue for us. The bed was very comfy. Parking in all hotels on Weymouth front can be an issue but Jon on reception is more than helpful in offering permits or squeezing you in their small car park. We had an excellent time. Many thanks the Walkers:)
Review 32:dinning room shuts at 8. no phone in room how can you call if help needed.duvet too small for bed. no extra blanket/pillow. inferior tea/coffee. found used razor in bathroom bin.no bath mat provided.
Review 33:we went out of season and the parking was horrific. we had to drop our bags off and go and park half a mile away. i can't imagine what it would be like in peak season! there is parking there, but it's limited and first come first serve.
Review 34:some of the rooms were themed. we had a circus room. the breakfast was good. it was less than a ten minute walk to all the clubs and shops. right opposite the beach.
Review 35:Extremely helpful with luggage for elderly couple.very responsive to any request.walk across the road to beach. Good restaurants nearby. Bar a little disappointing needs re organising to make more traditional for beer lovers.
Review 36:Normally use a BB for cheaper price. Not sure what extra I got for my money
Review 37:Great sea view rooms at front. Parking permits including. Breakfast plentiful.
Review 38:After being changed to another room as shower didn't work. Cleanliness not good. Very shabby. Price of rooms did not reflect quality of hotel. On arrival did not even have our booking. Pictures on Internet did not reflect reality.
Review 39:Breakfast
Review 40:Bathroom was extremely small. The wooden laminated floor was very slippery even with bare feet. Very dated and tired. Would I stay again.? Yes. Nothing was bad enough for me not to recommend the hotel.
Review 41:Good location to go out for a meal or a walk along the seafront. Staff on arrival were very young but knew what they were doing and very friendly. Off road parking limited but felt secure.
Review 42:Felt a bit let down by the bar area not very welcoming or comfortable and no entertainments although mentioned in hotel description
Review 43:Staff were very pleasant and friendly room....room was a good size and clean
Review 44:Nothing that I could think of.
Review 45:Every thing. The staff were very charming The management. We're very accommodating My daughter and I had a. Very nice times.
Review 46:The staff were helpful, friendly, nothing too much trouble for them. Lovely room with good sea view. The hotel took all our requests into consideration i.e. needed to be near the lift. Will book again.
Review 47:broken bed broken window blind, wires showing from light in shower, water from shower poor. Water from basin very very hot and could burn you. The headboard had two greasy head marks....room 306
Review 48:Location good, staff friendly. Room quiet.....
Review 49:Did not like the annexe accommodation, very noisy late at night, lots of doors slamming and people screaming. Room was very small too.
Review 50:The man on duty was very helpful to me and other guests. He had said he was due to finish at 3pm but was staying on till 6pm to help out the owner, he was still there around 9pm helping to move guests cars around their small parking area. He seemed to be the only member of staff on duty, but was doing a great job.
Review 51:Staff tried to double charge me after I had already paid room was ridiculously small for a double and it was not cleaned
Review 52:Location was great easy to get to town food was brilliant nice stay
Review 53:Dirty rooms from previous guests. No mattress or pillow protectors. Pillows and mattresses should have been replaced a long time ago! Greasy breakfast. Bar was soulless, bar staff (when you could find them) useless.
Review 54:Seafront location although a bit of a walk to the centre of town. Wifi coverage
Review 55:Initially a small and cramped room but luckily we were able to upgrade for free after the weekend. Parking is of course a problem with all sea front hotels.
Review 56:Location and cleanliness were excellent. The staff and the full breakfast were first class as was the restaurant for fine dining evening meals.
Review 57:rubbish room with NO ventilation or window in the bedroom ..had to leave shower room door open to get air in bedroom . furniture from MFI .wont go again
Review 58:good location on sea front
Review 59:Poor standard in every aspect except from being service minded. The bulldog was falling apart inside and needed a renovation.
Review 60:Lovely people - service minded
Review 61:The only downside was the cleanliness of the towels. Really should be checked for cleanliness before putting in rooms.
Review 62:Location was great, all staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast was of a very high standard.
Review 63:The staff were very helpful with car parking. There is limited parking at the rear of the hotel however they will provide a parking permit to park off road. On check out they were happy let us have the parking permit for a few more hours. The staff are friendly and nothing was too much. The breakfast was nice and fresh.
Review 64:Hotel in desperate need of modernisation. I was offered an upgrade on original booking which I paid extra, not sure what I got for it, I feel I've been conned out of more money. Our room had a big slope, beds were uncomfortable, bedding covered in hair, room had not been cleaned properly prior to arrival, no bin our family room. We discovered a brass nut in the travel cot, which our 11 month old baby could have easily swallowed, had he found it first. One positive was the breakfast, which was good.
Review 65:Staff were friendly.
Review 66:Very pleased with clean rooms with fantastic views. Excellent buffet breakfast with pleasant welcoming staff. Parking no problem - organised with hotel. Looking forward to our next visit .
Review 67:I booked 5 rooms, requesting 4 with sea views, but when we checked in, only 1 of the rooms had sea view. 1 of the rooms allocated was in the basement. Not sure if this was down to Booking.com or the hotel itself. When booking, I paid with Amex, but on the morning we were travelling, I received e-mail from Booking.com advising that the hotel didn't accept Amex, so had to pay using another credit card. I suspect this was why we didn't get the rooms requested.
Review 68:The staff were generally freindly and helpful, and the breakfast was good.
Review 69:Whole place had a tired appearance, very cluttered reception rooms. Car parking very difficult and totally inadequate, several cars may have to be moved so you could exit car park.
Review 70:The breakfast was delicious and their.staff were the best
Review 71:Worst hotel I have stayed in no towels on arrival when they did turn up they were still dirty, water far to hot, no eggs for the full English breakfast, staff did not know if the bar was open or not. Can't see it staying open
Review 72:Parking was tricky
Review 73:Really good location for the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful - good fun! Rooms basic but clean & comfy. Breakfast AMAZING
Review 74:Our bathroom was tiny, it was quite difficult to turn around. The hotel could do with a bit of up-dating. We managed to park, although it was sometimes difficult to find a space.
Review 75:The Staff, the location, and the breakfast. Nice white fluffy towels, nice hot powerful shower in our room.
Review 76:The bar area could be more inviting and comfortable, resembled a canteen more than a relaxing area. More parking on site but appreciate this is difficult but getting a parking bay could be a lottery if you used the car a lot when there.
Review 77:Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the older lady ? owner and breakfast staff. Nice touch having so many items that could be borrowed like the boogie boards, beach chairs etc. Also very generous biscuit supply in the rooms appreciated. Bed very very comfy!
Review 78:Friendly welcome as soon as arrived, free permit to park almost directly by the property. Fantastic location an sea view was amazing. Breakfast was cooked well an nice an hot.
Review 79:Lack of convenient parking for paying guests - although parking permit provided - had to park a distance away from the hotel. Shower could have done with a bit more water pressure. Curtain in room did not draw properly. Lock on bathroom door.
Review 80:TV in room, breakfast, friendliness of staff. Lovely sized family room - modern decor. Was also given a choice of two family rooms to choose from...that was nice. Modern dining facilities.
Review 81:Family room on the 3rd floor where window open half way you need to watch your child constantly not to fall out. Not child friendly :(
Review 82:Great location lovely breakfast
Review 83:Not enough towels for the people staying. Put in a clowns room with children 13 and 15 and it was out wedding anniversary horrible room cleanliness not good basic horrid smell in the entrance and also my things had been gone through and makeup broken that I had bought especially for my night out. No staff on reception when bell pressed so couldn't make a complaint when I left either seriously not worth the money at all. Breakfast wait for croissants every morning 40 mins to come out with 4 only ridiculous for the amount of guests.
Review 84:Staff were friendly
Review 85:We didn't find the facilities which they listed such as parking there was no parking as they promised and we had problems with that Also there was no wifi at all . Room didn't clean properly and more.................
Review 86:Only breakfast and location were good
Review 87:Wrong end of Esplanade so a lot of walking, Room very hot as pipes run through it and very small, I've seen bigger en-suites in caravans,
Review 88:Staff nice and friendly, Buffet breakfast excellent, On-site parking
Review 89:The crampness of our room! single wardrobe for 2 people was totally inappropriate! Tiny lift, car parking poor Overpriced.
Review 90:Location. view. Food was good. Staff very helpful
Review 91:The room although had a great sea view was on the small size.
Review 92:The staff very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast very good, hearty and wholesome.
Review 93:car parking poor drove around for an hour parked 2 streets away smell of cooking fat/oil all communal areas dining area hot and overcrowed
Review 94:sea view bedroom breakfast food quality
Review 95:The staff at The Richmoor are very welcoming and friendly. I like the fact that The Richmoor are pet friendly which meant that I could bring my dog along. The location is fantastic, right on the sea front.
Review 96:Smallest, hottest double room, expensive and not worth money. No mention that you had to leave car keys with reception when booking parking ( never an option with top of range sports car!)
Review 97:Location onEsplanade
Review 98:We stayed in a family room, plenty of room, everything you could need , very comfortable, lovely decor and an excellent view over the sea.The buffet breakfast was fantastic. We felt very welcome by all the staff.
Review 99:Parking was a pain, no variety in breakfast food, small lift that only went to 2nd floor so if you was on the 3rd floor there would be another 2 flights to go up. Beds made every day but that's all.
Review 100:Location was good just a stones throw from the beach
Review 101:parking was limited and we didn't manage to get free parking on the premises at any point during our stay so had to pay to use the road parking we could only get wifi in the foyer and on the stairs to first and second floor but not in our room or the breakfast room
Review 102:friendly manager on arrival mix up with room dealt with efficiently breakfast staff friendly and helpful
Review 103:Room was very small! Wouldn't really advertise it as en suite! Hot water was very very hot and tap the wrong side. No view!
Review 104:Location was good and bar prices reasonable!
Review 105:Rooms could do with air con & noisy drunk residents in bar till 2.30am with family room above, but even loudmouth incestuous hillbillies need a holiday I guess
Review 106:Friendly staff and management good food
Review 107:Parking was very restricted, wifi was temperamental and the double bed was not very big.
Review 108:The breakfast was fantastic, as was the location and the staff were very helpful.
Review 109:The bed seemed a bit small, but think that may just be due to the fact we have a rather large bed at home.
Review 110:We where greeted very warmly, the owners and other staff are lovely, kind hearted people. They upgraded our room to there honeymoon like suite for free because "we looked like the right couple" which was very surprising and kind. Rooms where very clean and well lit. The restaurant downstairs (shelley's) was superb!! Will be going back.
Review 111:Upon arrival there were some men in the parking lots that wanted to take my keys off me. This made me feel uneasy and i parked my own car. I did have to give my keys to reception and i noted that my car had been moved overnight. I was on a business trip with 4 other people and can only comment on the standards that I experienced in my room. It was disgusting. The towels provided were stained. The bed covers and sheet had big yellow stains all over them and there were hairs in the bed. When going into the bathroom there was a horrible smell, the source of which was a bin that hadn't been emptied from the previous occupants stay. Continuing in the bathroom, the glasses that are provided in the bathroom had hair in them (similar to what a man would produce when shaving his beard). One of my colleagues was given his room key only to then be told it opens multiple rooms (and could he please not go into that room)! This was really unnearving. I/we will not be staying here again
Review 112:Very little positive to say. The saving grace was the breakfast which had a good selection of hot and cold foods (cereal and cooked breakfast). It is also right near the beach (i could see the sea from my room).
Review 113:The room we were given was extremely small. The bed was a double not King Sized [ The double reached the bathroom door & the door to the room.] We did ask for a larger room but apparently none were available
Review 114:We can't comment as we left after one night.
Review 115:On the third night we had to move back to the ordinary double room, which was exceedingly small and cramped. The one dinner we had at the hotel was a disappointment. The steaks were tough, gristly and flavourless.
Review 116:For the first 2 nights we were upgraded to a superior sea view room, which was very nice. The breakfasts were excellent. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The position on the sea front was excellent.
Review 117:Booked in to hotel and got given the keys, walked into our room still had dirty sheets on beds and for a family room was very small and I was in the double bed sleeping against a wall.
Review 118:Nothing would never go back.
Review 119:No complaints, although the old lift is a bit restricting and parking wasn't easy.
Review 120:Bedroom and view of the beach were lovely. Staff were helpful, friendly and informal. Breakfast was just right and dinners were excellent (although too expensive to have every night).
Review 121:Water was scolding and was unable to be adjusted- In a family Room! Lift extremely small- 2 persons only, and only went up to 2nd floor- we were on Floor 3 Staff were heard discussing other guests freely in the bar area! Car parking advertised and pre-booked- however I was asked to move my car out!
Review 122:Location
Review 123:Room was tiny and cramped. Shower was small with nowhere to put toiletries.Bed was small and mattress was uncomfortable. We both rolled in towards each other.
Review 124:Breakfast was good and staff were always smiling.
Review 125:Arrived late due to train delays, staff opened the bar for me. Excellent Huge Heart Attack breakfast which I enjoyed. Other, healthier options equally available. I needed to buy a floral tribute at short notice, member of staff Peter found the shop, walked me there and back and it was economical and fast. At £60 for a one off stay with a monster breakfast included in the price this was really good value for Weymouth in July. They will negotiate lower rates for longer stays.
Review 126:Very basic accommodation in a tired building. Our room had no ventilation. Also, the 'free parking' turned out to be paid parking on the street out front.
Review 127:Great location on Weymouth waterfront. The staff were very friendly and the complementary breakfast generous.
Review 128:After complaining about the first room, we were moved to a more acceptable room. The photos don't give a true view of the rooms. The rooms show lots of signs of wear. Wouldn't stay here again.
Review 129:Hotel Parking was not very available but we were able to park out front for £7 for the whole day and night. The hotel is split front and back so to get to reception you need to leave the hotel.
Review 130:The hotel had a good location, right on the sea front. The rooms were lovely, very clean and had good presentation. There were some games and toys put in the room which was a nice touch. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice.
Review 131:floors were uneven, no sheets on the bed, poor drain in the shower, lots of road noise made it difficult to sleep. One of the worst places I have ever stayed in for the equivalent of $320 Canadian Dollars.
Review 132:Not very much
Review 133:could not say there was anything we did not like
Review 134:we had two grandchildren with us and Lorraine had put the family in the "Themed Circus Room" they absolutely loved it at ages 2.5 and 4 they said that was the best bit of the holiday. Priceless
Review 135:The owners need to ensure that the rooms are cleaned, unfortunately, the shower was grubby and curtains stained in our room.
Review 136:Old building on seafront. Nice staff, clean fresh towels and bedding.
