Reviews for Meudon Hotel
Review 1:We arrived early evening and straight out to a family do, back near midnight to find the room freezing cold as the radiators hadn't come on. The same thing in the morning. Some air blockage or something. In the morning we were provided with a fan heater and the staff were very apologetic. An unfortunate glitch.
Review 2:The garden is outstanding. 6 acres of paradise leading down to the private beach, immaculately kept. A work of art. We will come again just for that. The hotel is more than decent, very comfortable and breakfast very good. We didn't eat there in the evening so can't comment otherwise on the food.
Review 3:The water pressure in the shower could have been better, but this is a very minor issue that did not in any way impact on my happiness as a guest.
Review 4:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The gardens are a little piece of heaven on earth and the bar is set up to feel like a sitting room /lounge /drawing room. It is elegant yet cosy. I loved that there are lots of paintings on the walls, for sale, painted by a local artist. The food, (I ate both breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant ), was very good indeed.
Review 5:Bathroom lacked shelf space to layout sponge bag and contents. Plastic kettle in room affected taste of tea. No mains sockets by dressing table for hairdrier.
Review 6:Brilliant garden and beach. Dining room classic with wonderful view.
Review 7:The location and its private beach are undoubtedly this hotel's unique selling point. Having a slow breakfast with an unspoilt view of the ocean in the distance is reason enough to visit this hotel. The staff on the desk were helpful and totally flexible regarding checking-in times. The breakfast menu is extensive and delicious. The hotel is not dressed in a boutique style and, to some, might seem old-fashioned in certain respects. However, this is very much part of its charm. If I were to change anything (and this is being a little particular) it would be to agree with other comments regarding the draughty dining room. So, just bring an extra jumper and enjoy the view.
Review 8:Being the first time we had ventured to take our dog with us to a Hotel we found The Meudon absolutley perfect. the staff were brilliant( the dog was pretty well behaved too, thankfully). The evening meals were good but very pricey...quiet background music in the restaurant would have been nice..a bit of an awkward silence in the evening.
Review 9:Staff very blunt. Had to cancel a Sunday lunch as plans changed and when I phoned ( which I didn't need to ) to say sorry we wouldn't be coming back and she pretty much told me off and said your loss.
Review 10:The gardens were spectacular
Review 11:Child's bathroom in family suite was dated and tired.Kettle cord for in room refreshments wouldn't reach the plug (very short) and had to move it around so quite dangerous
Review 12:Location and gardens stunning. Staff gave my daughter a sparkler for her birthday at breakfast which was a nice touch.
Review 13:We travelled with a dog. Hotel was dog friendly but public areas were not other than the garden.
Review 14:Location was excellent. Fantastic gardens and route down to beach.
Review 15:The helpfulness of the staff and the relaxed atmosphere. It was great to be able to have our spaniel with us and we loved the walk to the beach and the stunning scenery.
Review 16:An excellent medium sized hotel, very well situated, for exploring the local area. Fabulous gardens & private beach with the coastal paths nearby - great for walking: very quiet & peaceful.
Review 17:Internet connection a bit dodgy - kept dropping out. Would have liked the option of herbal teas on the bedroom tray.
Review 18:The gardens are beautiful, even in October. The S W Coastal footpath runs past the garden gate, enabling us to do two good walks. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
Review 19:Our only frustration was poor wifi connection in our rooms which together with limited mobile signal meant some difficulties contacting family.
Review 20:Beautiful location - gardens and cove. Very comfortable spacious rooms. Staff, especially on Reception, very helpful and friendly. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast.
Review 21:We were expecting to stay in an upper floor cove room, instead we were in a "tired suite" (42)_over looking the car park. The accommodation above us might as well been part of our own space, really poor insulation which meant we could clearly hear their conversations and far worse the use of their bathroom with noises being clearly heard was most distasteful. Based on the above points, I mentioned when checking out our disappointment with our stay.
Review 22:Good location
Review 23:Better instructions to get there as we did not realise there were several Meudon properties prior to the hotel i.e. a farm and a house.
Review 24:Lovely quiet stay. Amazing gardens. Helpful and friendly staff.
Review 25:Helpful, friendly staff. Beautiful gardens and a private beach - great for our dog Molly. Fantastic breakfast delivered to our room at no extra cost.
Review 26:When the car park is full, the overflow parking is in an area that is unlit. Some lighting when returning to the hotel at night would be helpful.
Review 27:A very welcoming hotel with friendly staff, a good restaurant and a friendly bar. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable.
Review 28:Absolutely everything the staff were all welcoming and the hotel ad its position were perfection itself we will have no hesitation in recommending this hotel I have travelled all over and this will go down in my memory as one of the very best.Well done to all at the Meudon Hotel
Review 29:There was no wifi in the room and I also had no hot water when i tried to shower early in the morning. I Also found that the hotel was rather cold especially in the morning
Review 30:The bed was very comfy and the staff were really friendly.
Review 31:The staff were lovely and they were very accommodating with an early check in as we were going to a wedding. Breakfast was delicious and a huge variety. We will definitely return.
Review 32:If you were being very picky, the flat pillows and short length of shower hose for tall people!
Review 33:The friendly and cheerful staff, the overall cleanliness, the lovely gardens/location and the wonderful food all combined for an excellent, peaceful stay.
Review 34:Dining room for breakfast was surprisingly chilly. Take a jumper or jacket!
Review 35:Comfortable in a traditional way. Liked having a bath and bidet. Loved the beautiful gardens and private cove. Breakfast was good with interesting choices. It was a one-night stop for us but I would consider staying longer.
Review 36:The staff treated us as though we were the most important people they had to stay. The garden was the most beautiful landscape we have experienced in hotel facilities.
Review 37:The room we stayed in was Very Very tired, I know some of the hotel has been updated but the garden wing we stayed in needs updating ASAP if they want people to stay. As we walked towards our room we passed a long row of chairs, it looked like a old aged home
Review 38:The garden was lovely
Review 39:The only negative Point is the fact that the lower floors suffer from the light construction: You hear the people in the room above - so with bad luck they are noise an "active" in the night....
Review 40:Wonderful garden, very good Service and very friendly & helpful personnel.
Review 41:We loved our stay at Meudon. We needed a picturesque break and quality time as family ... we got it all. Meudon has the most beautiful garden, the staff very friendly and helpful and we loved the private beach!
Review 42:The 2 things that we didnt like was ,the dogs, a few spoilt the quiteness. Also the room that we stayed in could do with a NEW shower, very poor for the amount you pay for the room.
Review 43:Loved the Hotel, Gardens, Beach, the staff were so lovely ,helpful. the Food was beautiful.Just a quite place to unwind. We would come back again it was just a lovely holiday.
Review 44:The family suite has not been updated, there was no power points near the dressing table. There was no extractor fans in the bathrooms so it felt damp in the morning after using the bathrooms the night before and the bed was not firm.
Review 45:The private beach, tropical gardens, friendly staff and the full Cornish breakfast and location.
Review 46:Absolutely stunning location (gardens better than Trebah and Glendurgan!!), very warm welcome, beautiful plush rooms and great food. Would definitely want to stay again. it was my mother's 80th birthday celebration and everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Review 47:Bit tricky to find the place, look at map. Dinner was good but to expensive.
Review 48:Huge and beautiful garden, best I have seen for many years, all the way down to the private beach! Quite place
Review 49:Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful in a very homely way. Made to feel the hotel was your home from the moment you walked through the door
Review 50:Wifi a little unpredictable
Review 51:Excellent hotel. Old fashioned but fabulous courteous staff who couldnt do enough for us. Fabulous gardens. Freshly cooked hot breakfast.
Review 52:Some Staff very indifferent - service not good, breakfast service partiularly awful - think Alex Pollizi should re vi0sit
Review 53:Location wonderful garden and walks
Review 54:Garden view room decor was a little dated although very clean and well maintained.Peacocks in the garden, not owned by the hotel I should add, sometimes making a racket very early in the morning. Bar doesn't serve beer on tap.
Review 55:Incredible location. Beautiful garden. Attentive, down to earth and friendly service. High end without feeling high brow. Cleanliness. Good food. A wonderful place to relax, unwind and escape.
Review 56:Walls are very thin and noise travels easily. disturbed first night with TV below on all night past 3am!!
Review 57:Breakfast and location Helpful staff who moved our room easily
Review 58:Price of drinks,(£22 cheapest bottle of wine on the list?) apparent non flexibility of staff in setting up a window table for a couple when dining room almost empty. Reasonably priced bar menu with a variety of tasty meals not readily available.
Review 59:Location, friendly staff, gardens, room very comfortable with pleasant views, quality of breakfast..
Review 60:No negatives
Review 61:Friendly greeting at reception and the warmth of staff friendliness continued until our departure. Our room was pleasant and comfortable with views towards the gardens and sea. The gardens are truly stunning.
Review 62:Room 47 - great bed, however the shower pressure was very low. Apart from this, rather good all round.
Review 63:Receptionist was lovely - very welcoming, if only I could remember name. Apparently she was quite new. Of course the gardens and the beach - what a feature
Review 64:Dinner service rather haphazard but staff lovely and food so nice we didn't mind.
Review 65:Very comfortable and quiet, lovely garden, brilliant food, will come back.
Review 66:Room was gloomy and in need of a makeover. The restaurant had no atmosphere and the food was very ordinary and expensive for what it was. No real lounge to speak of.
Review 67:Very friendly staff. Beautiful gardens, Room was reasonably spacious. The bar was attractive but not very comfortable
Review 68:Even though rooms we stayed in were refurbished, old mattress and duvet. Had to ask for 2 bed board as mattress so soft. Filling in duvet has migrated to sides so not held in place by pockets. We stayed 3 nights DBB with dinner @£35/head, I would expect bread rolls to be offered at this price
Review 69:Very friendly staff lovely grounds and garden going down to private beach. Food generally good but not on last night.
Review 70:I did not like the bathroom and I didn't use the bath and to be perfect the hotel will have to find a theme and a more positive identity
Review 71:The Gardens are enlightening and the room was very comfortable the breakfast was great
Review 72:Slighly disapointed with the evening meal.
Review 73:Had visited this hotel some 20 years ago. Location and grounds still superb, staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms and could not fault it. The updates to the hotel have certainly given it a more 'modern' feel.
Review 74:The fact that we had to leave and go home!
Review 75:The location, ambience, friendly staff and excellent food Throughout our stay we felt as if nothing was too much trouble for the staff and that we were treated as special - they went out of their way to ensure our stay was a memorable one Most certainly will be returning
Review 76:The only thing in the oterwise perfect room was I sleep alittle hot and the Duvet was to warm. They will make beds up with sheet and blankets on request ( best to let them know on booking) ... and upstairs neighbor was somewhat 'heavy-footed' .. tho this is no fault to hotel.
Review 77:Every one was so helpful and pleasant. One could tell this was a family run establishment, the care and attention to details was nothing short of perfection. Gardens were delightful and I was there in the Autumn. Must return in the spring/summer to see them. I will most deffinately stay here if ever I find myself in Cornwall again. Also food was very good with a stunning dinning room over-looking the gardens ! Staff all get high praise from this visitor ...
Review 78:Nothing!
Review 79:Everything!....the friendly staff & relaxed atmosphere., Large spacious room/ensuite with superb view of the gardens & cove. Comfortable king size bed. Fantastic central view of the garden leading to the Cove from the restaurant.
Review 80:Hhuummmmm.......... nothing
Review 81:What to like? ..well...friendly staff giving a top-rate service, excellent food with a large breakfast choice, spacious and comfortable rooms with a view over the most beautiful garden leading to a private beech~ you won't want to day-trip out while your there, but if you do, this part of Cornwall is a well kept secret!
Review 82:Public areas very dated, very old fashionioned style . dinner menu was overpriced and not of a high standard.
Review 83:situation,friendly,great setting and rooms
Review 84:The shower attachment over the bath wasn't long enough and the ball joint holding the shower head wouldn't stay up - annoying but not the end of the world.
Review 85:We had a recently renovated room with a charming view down the valley towards the sea. The breakfast and dinner were plentiful with good choices, particularly at dinner. The dining room enjoys great views of the garden. There is a quiet lounge and separate bar where coffee, drinks, snacks and other food can be enjoyed. I can recommend the Cornish cider and the afternoon teas. We would like to go again but had an 8 hour journey home, instead of the 5 we expected. So we need to find away to avoid the hold ups, before we go again.
Review 86:The hotel looked tired in places, parking was always an issue if you were late arriving back at night, particularly as the hotel was almost full.
Review 87:Staff were very helpful and courteous, in fact their approach was very friendly and chatty, as far a service was concerned it was a definite 9 out of 10 Beautiful gardens and a great walk down to the beach.
Review 88:Dinner was expensive and not always the high standard expected. When staying for three nights as in our case, It would have been good to have the same table for each meal instead of having to wait to be shown to a table each time.
Review 89:The hotel has a lovely quiet setting within a beautiful garden. The super-king size bed was excellent - very comfortable, and the standard of cleanliness was faultless. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and extras.
Review 90:Tendency to noisiness from overhead rooms (pacing about and dropping things). In mid September it would seem that the over 80s (or 90s!) Club had taken the place over- charming though they were.
Review 91:Very good setting. Most helpful and friendly staff. Very clean and tidy. Lovely gardens. Great food.
Review 92:My travelling companion had to change her room after the first night with no explanation other than 'we are very busy'. Staff were polite rather than friendly.
Review 93:Nice hotel. Lovely garden leading down to the beach on a spectacular piece of coastline. Excellent breakfast. Really nice public areas making the most of the garden views.
Review 94:That I couldn't stay longer. Very small niggle: the water pressure in the shower wasn't very good. But it didn't really matter.
Review 95:Staff - very friendly, efficient. Room - spotless, comfortable, lovely view of garden, quiet at night. Nice lounge room, overlooking garden. Restaurant (good breakfast; didn't have dinner), also overlooking garden, view to sea. And, of course, the fabulous garden itself, like a mini-Trebah, with a beautiful, peaceful beach at the bottom.
Review 96:Wifi was almost uncontainable in my room, although present in public areas nearer reception.
Review 97:Beautiful gardens leading to secluded beach, good food, welcoming staff with a personal touch, recently refurbished room, not too large a hotel.
Review 98:Rooms were too hot and it was difficult to get a through breeze to air the room. Quality of wifi was very poor (though this may have been due to the part of the hotel we were in), which was very frustrating. Breakfast was good, but not as good quality as I've had in similar hotels in the region.
Review 99:Location: very quiet, calm, with magnificent gardens leading down to a "private" beach. Very nice ambience in the hotel also, with welcoming and helpful staff. Rooms were well appointed with excellent bathroom. Dining room very pleasant and the size of the breakfast excellent.
Review 100:Only a slight moan. The room was a bit dated but didnt spoil my stay.
Review 101:Only stayed 2 nights wish it had been longer. The staff make this hotel but the location also needs a mention. There are not many hotels that you can wander around the garden and find your-self down on the beach. Fantastic ! The room was a very good size and the bed very comfortable looked out onto the lovely gardens.
Review 102:Beautiful setting, clean and comfortable room with a lovely view, helpful & friendly staff - a place where the owners/managers really care about their hotel and their paying guests.
Review 103:Dinner ok but a little overpriced and not much choice. Why not offer bar snacks in the restaurant? I was put off ordering them as would have had to eaten on a low coffee table in the bar.
Review 104:Friendly, helpful staff. Fantastic location, gardens, beach and access to coastal path. Excellent breakfasts Comfortable, spacious bedroom
Review 105:Having to leave!
Review 106:Location is superb, very comfortable beds, excellent service; breakfasts excellent; only had dinner on one evening, but was very good value for money and wish we'd had more chance to dine in.
Review 107:Staff could not help us enough and catered for us with a 9yrs, 7yrs and 18 month old children. Gardens are stunning and the beach a perfect haven for fun.
Review 108:Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Chef even gutted and scaled the trout my husband had caught! Lovely location, gardens remind one of The Lost Garden of Heligan.
Review 109:room was slightly dated, but to be fair I was told many rooms have been updated and next time I come to ask for one of these rooms.- The room was adequate though and bed was very comfy
Review 110:Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I needed an iron which turned up before I had even got my shirt out of my case! In the morning I was given some pastries to take in car as I didnt have time for breakfast. Lovely setting.
Review 111:What's not to like? I will certainly be back with my wife, she will love it.
Review 112:The friendly staff went the extra mile to make my stay comfortable; from reception through restaurant staff to cleaners, they were all well motivated and cheerful. The food at breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and served with a smile, unfortunately I didn't have time to try the evening meal but was offered a sandwich while I was working in my room. The grounds and private beach are exceptional; tropical plants line paths through the valley to a lovely rocky beach. I walked my dog there at around 0630 and it was so peaceful; the perfect antidote to stress.
Review 113:Bed was a bit too soft, set menu 3 course meal was too expensive at £32 pp and no option to just have a one or two course meal.
Review 114:Location, lovely gardens, walk to the beach, super-king size bed, great breakfast
Review 115:Menu choice for evening meal - didn't fancy a 3 course meal and there was no other option.
Review 116:Beautiful surroundings, friendly, accommodating staff. Excellent food and lovely interior.
Review 117:the roads around the hotel (but that cant be helped)
Review 118:friendliness of staff room and view superb food was grogeous
Review 119:Modern room, spotlessly clean, super staff, excellent meals and wonderful gardens.
Review 120:Very poor lighting in the bathroom
Review 121:Everything was good. Kitchen staff very accommodating to my severe dietary needs.
Review 122:Good food
Review 123:Excellent welcome! Staff very helpful with lots of suggestions for walks and activities. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.
Review 124:Dinner over priced and disappointing choice
Review 125:Friendly staff. Beautiful gardens and cove
Review 126:The location and the facilities. It was calm , comfortable and I loved the cosy bar with its open fire
Review 127:The gardens were perfect and walking to a beach made it
Review 128:Relaxed, dog-friendly hotel. Staff cheerful. Grounds good with easy access to a beach.
Review 129:The very poor lighting in the bathroom and mirror light in bedroom
Review 130:Very relaxing and tranquil environment
