Reviews for Mary Rose Inn Hotel
Review 1:Some fittings in the room needed minor repairs.
Review 2:Staff were friendly and well organised. They managed our staggered arrival well. They gave us good information about the local area, where we could find excellent cheap food and taxis.
Review 3:It didn't bother us, but others travelling with family might be put off by having to go through the bar of an active local pub to get to the rooms.
Review 4:A short walk from the rail station makes it convenient to visit London without staying in the city itself. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building is full of character, much more fun than Travelodge.
Review 5:The floors needed hoovering, the bathroom wasn't very clean, and the whole place was just a little bit dirty.
Review 6:The beds and sheets were clean, which is the most important thing for me. The location was good, and it was relatively cheap.
Review 7:The place was dirty, uncared for. It's in need of a really good clean, all the mould needs removing and decorating. No WiFi as advertised.
Review 8:The fact that the hotel was only 5 mind from my dad's sheltered housing
Review 9:It wasn't on the street it claimed to be and the day staff lady couldn't be asked to do anything that involved speaking to other people. The bathroom was a state and could do with updating
Review 10:Th night staff man was really good. Its a good location for that side of town
Review 11:In the room we ended up in, after complaining about the 1st room: Mould in the bathroom, on wall, all over shower door, collection of cobwebs in corner, clearly not cleaned. Bed seen better days, really uncomfortable bed. Our original room, was so noisy with the adjoining rooms sani flow system being plumbed behind our bed & into our bathroom, hence why we needed to move. Dark & Dingy reception area, certainly not inviting. Whole building very run down & in need of redecoration
Review 12:We needed to change our room & the receptionist was able to find another room
Review 13:The room was a disgrace, dirty, no hot water, very poor mattresses. The staff had a very poor attitude and when asked about the hot water said the boiler was broken and would be 2 days to fix. They had no other room so we asked to leave and cancel our stay. They advised we could not get a refund ( they had already charged for the full amount) I talked to the manager and he advised we could possibly get a different room the next day or for sure the following day and he would work with us. As we could not get our payment returned we had little choice but to stay. 2 days later we were moved to another room, it was not much better but at least we had hot water. The room was still dirty and like the first room the bathroom was disgusting, mold on the walls and black mold in the shower stall. The manager did say he would compensate us and reduce our rate however this did not happen. The complete stay was very poor. Totally unacceptable you should be reviewing your offerings and hold them to a higher standard.
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:Saniflow water waste was louder than TV, mattress was 3 inches like being on the floor, walls paper thin, no hot water in the morning and to top it all off hallway light doesn't go off and the window shines straight onto your face all night long. A simple peice of card to stop the light n I would have been happy!!! Good location for paintballing though :)
Review 16:Parking is right outside on the main road opposite a police station
Review 17:Our engineer thought this hotel was disgusting, there was dirt and lots of noise and he had to put his bed up against the door just to feel safe sleeping!
Review 18:The bathroom had black mould in between the tiles disgusting, the decor was shabby and also disgusting I did not realise hotels could be this bad
Review 19:Cheap price
Review 20:We Booked a room at the Mary Rose Inn Hotel, and arrived having booked a superior twin bedded room. We got off to a bad start when the receptionist, who was serving at the bar, told us to wait. She then came over to the reception desk and said "what do you want". We requested the room we had booked and she gave us a key. We were then told that the full English breakfast we had booked was no longer available, but we could have a box with something to eat for £5, needless to say we said no thank you. As we went through the hotel we could see that the place was filthy, and obviously had not been cleaned properly for months. The room we were given had a double bed and was no where near superior. We went back to reception and were given room 7, and she did say sorry that she had not checked properly. We got to the booked room and found it was filthy. The bath and wash basin had not been cleaned for weeks and the taps were filthy. There was a hole in the ceiling and the paper was hanging off. All the pipework was also covered in dirt. In the bedroom the curtains were torn and only half attached to the rail. When we got up in the morning my partner's quilt was open at the bottom and all the stuffing was coming out of it. We could not shower or wash in the bathroom because it was too dirty, so we departed the hotel before 8 am and started on our journey back to Yorkshire. We did not have a camera on us so unfortunately could not take any photographs. We would not advise anybody to go to this hotel, and we couldn't ask for a refund as there was only night security on the desk when we left.
Review 21:The hotel was awful: broken furniture, door didn’t lock and was smashed in, no light bulb in the bathroom, and live wires in the shower. It was generally dirty and very unpleasant. The bed was stained too.
Review 22:Nothing!
Review 23:This is the worst hotel in the world. I didn't stay but they wouldn't give me a refund. The location was awful and quite threatening - gangs hanging around and boarded up properties - that includes this "hotel". The room was filthy - shower hadn't been cleaned for years. No water at all in the sink. Stank of cigarettes. An absolute disgrace. Do not book this hotel if you are reading this review. I complained to booking.com and recommend they remove it.
Review 24:I have stayed here many times but the property is going down in standard..There was no hot water in the basin in the shared bathroom..no plug in the sink and the TV in the room didn't work
Review 25:It's in an ideal location to visit my family in Bexleyheath
Review 26:The room was disgusting - grime and spiders webs on window ledge, messy coffee table, no armchair, tiny TV,poor lighting, bathroom was equally unimpressive. I wish I had seen the room before I paid £45. Reception/bar person would not give me a refund saying I had to speak to the manager who was not in. I have phoned on two occasions since but the manager was not on the premises.
Review 27:Nothing, apart from it had tea/coffee facilities
Review 28:Everything. I understand that the low rate cant deliver quality facilities but that doesnt excuse the durtiness and piss on the toilet seat and hair on the bed sheet etc.... disgusting!
Review 29:Check out
Review 30:Nothing This was a most appalling place on earth and I would never recommend it to anyone. The staff even shrugged when told about the urine all over the toilet and the bath being filthy. That is not to mention the bad state of repair and general dirtiness of the place. Also received flea bites. We didn't even stay the 3 nights we had to go to another hotel.
Review 31:Stayed here a few times in desperation . Staff have changed still rude and don't seem to know what there doing. Rooms are dirty stains on the sheets walls and carpets . Showers some don't work at all and are filthy as are he baths . Tea cups are even dirty when you get them ! No spoon provided and tv's are very touch and go . Have been bitten by bed bugs in one of the rooms. You earn enpugh money to fix this place its a disgrace that you auite frankly Rob people to stay in what is the slums of orpington meets faulty towers I will return and will get photos . Don't waste yor money
Review 32:The rooms were absolutely appalling the hotel looked run down outside inside the walls were filthy patchwork plasterboard on the ceiling were the ceiling wasn't crumbling or mouldy the bathroom doesn't look like it has been cleaned properly for months the windows were filthy would never stop there again complete waste of money
Review 33:The only good thing about the hotel was the location
Review 34:The place is really run down and poorly maintained. Our bedding and towels were clean but the carpets were stained the shower could have done with deep clean. I noticed fungi growing in an area around the shower where there was clearly a longstanding leak. It's a real shame the owner won't/ can't invest in renovating as this could be a real nice place to stay
Review 35:The location was great for us as it was only a short trip to Brands Hatch Motor Racing Circuit. Although a bit of a walk, you are not far from Orpington centre for eating etc.
Review 36:First room allocated there was no heating, 2nd room had no lighting, I then asked for a 3rd room I was told what do you want?you weren't satisfied with the 1st 2. very poor
Review 37:dirty rooms, hotel falling apart, shower didnt work, whole hotel filthy. when arriving back at night idiots in the bar threatening to fight me, horriblest hotel in the world, needs knocking down and shouldnt be listed on booking.com
Review 38:nothing at all
Review 39:The fact there was groups of teenagers hanging around outside by the shops, the carpark security was poor, the cctv wasn't visible, the shared toilet was blocked, the shower was filthy and the bath hadn't been cleaned. The door to our room was like a stable door, decor very poor and the hotel didn't feel very secure due to the Windows not closing. The hotel could do with a major revamp.
Review 40:It saved me a 4 hour drive to Brands Hatch Sunday morning!
Review 41:Everything was dirty/sticky Jacuzzi filled bath full of dirt & lumps of who knows what! Disgusting. Cobwebs hanging from ceiling No tea/coffee cups in room
Review 42:Nothing at all
Review 43:It was disgusting room was filthily curtains hanging off rails looked like had not been washed ever. carpet dirty, bathroom awful this should be removed from booking.com
Review 44:The bed was old bouncy and dipped in the middle. It was a very small place had to walk around bent in half to fit through the doorways. The place was boiling but if you opened a window you then couldn't sleep because of the noise from the main road
Review 45:The location was brilliant for where we needed to go and it was value for money
Review 46:getting bitten by bed bugs, the worst breakfast ever, the dirty sheets, the dont give a damn attitude of staff some of whom didnt speak english,
Review 47:Leaving
Review 48:Bathroom was filthy, blood on the shower screen so I couldn't have a shower. No remote for the TV, breakfast room had no lights, overall really poor décor and the fight outside the happy shopper across the road was very noisy!
Review 49:Free wifi and ideal location for where I needed to be.
Review 50:Teacups in my room were both dirty (hairs, non-tea stains), the room was not very clean, there were no hooks for coats or towels in the room, the window could not close fully, and the toilet in the shared bathroom had a broken cistern that was leaking all over the floor.
Review 51:The lady in the kitchen was willing to serve me breakfast when I arrived after the designated time (I had been misinformed the previous evening by reception desk staff about breakfast times, and there was no printed information about this in my room). In hindsight, the last-minute reduced deal I found for a £25 single room is the maximum I would have been happy to pay for what was provided.
Review 52:this hotel is a dump, and should be closed down unsafe building, not clean at all, i booked 3 rooms and all had problems we found blood on a bed. security is very poor with there being no locked on the hotel court yard entrances. would not stay at this hotel again
Review 53:nothing!
Review 54:The room was in terible condition blood in draws beds were like sleeping on a park bench the TV didn't even work the whole room was disappointing and filthy I would advise any one not too stay here a full complaint will be made !! There was even flies on top off my bed I cannot explain how bad it is
Review 55:NOTHING
Review 56:Just about everything else was poor. The rooms were mostly in a poor or very poor state - we were shown four!
Review 57:Looked nice from outside and the entrance was OK
Review 58:Not clean no welcome very grubby and dated property no shower curtain appalling breakfast make your own toast and hot drinks in polystyrene cups
Review 59:the bedbugs we found, the rooms that smelt like urine, the stains on the walls, the rubbish everywhere. the place is a flophouse and halfway house. we were refused a refund by the miserable staff.
Review 60:nothing the place was a horrible dump
Review 61:The room was dirty and smelt of smoke the shower was filthy and notworking properly the rooms are not being cleaned there was tea andcoffee first night and that was it I asked for head office tel no wastold there isn't one only email contact only no copy of fire certdisplayed no public liability displayed no address of owners displayedjust look for somewhere else
Review 62:There was a shop across the road
Review 63:sour milk for breakfast , band aid on ceiling, kettle didn't work in room, difficult to find, wrong address
Review 64:the couple who cooked our tea in the restaurant were brilliant
Review 65:My wife and I were eaten alive by bed bugs. The carpet looked and feltslike it upteem gallons of bodily fluids rubbed into it. The bathroomwas a breeding ground for all sorts of new bacteria, and the nightmanager was rude
Review 66:Absolutely nothing.
Review 67:everything
Review 68:The place was absolutely awful I've sent an email already and had no reply was more like a dirty old Hostel with a drug smoking neighbour 24-7 the place was dirty staff was rude toilet seat was stained shower rusty absolute awful stay never ever go back
Review 69:A budget hotel should mean, basic but clean! The hotel/corridors were tired and dirty, but moreover the room/furniture was grimey, filthy, stained, mouldy, old and tired. Lights/hairdryer didn't work, bare bulb in bathroom, no remote for telly, grimey kettle. Smelt of cigarette smoke. Glad to leave! We had a Superior room - apparently?
Review 70:breakfast
Review 71:Hotel is a disgrace to all mankind from the condemned boiler in the bathroom to the most uncomfortable bed ever made this place is terrible and filthy as well!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 72:Everything room had no hot water, bathroom was a playground for bacteria. Carpet in bedroom looked like it had been there since the 60s all wrinkled up and dirty bedside table had cigarette burns on it bed was broke overall disgusting place to stay
Review 73:hotel was appalling in a state of disrepair. Dirty throughout, dead flies on window sill, smelt of stale smoke, bathroom and toilet dirty, lots of hair from previous guests, Smoke alarms broken and hanging off ceiling. Surprised that this hotel passes any of the fire safety and hygiene regulations. Should be closed down.
Review 74:Free car parking, although area so rough wasn't confident car would still be there in morning.
Review 75:It's just very dirty, which could be easily solved. Also the room was non smoking but has a very strong cigarette smell.
Review 76:Location is good for business requirements
Review 77:Bed not comfortable, location remote, whole place smells bad, drunkards making noise, bathroom bad, shower not working properly, doors not secured, overall bad with no security.
Review 78:Told by website it was near Southend? Maybe if you were a bird it would be...
Review 79:There is a ghost called Alice who lives there. Charming old building with character.
Review 80:Biggest worry was no lock on the shared bathroom door, which was very uncomfortable... anyone could just walk in! (Plus unsafe). I know it's a shared bathroom .. but I didn't think that meant literally at the same time. The floors, sink, mugs for coffee provided in our room and bath/sink were filthy and the only single toilet roll provided was on the floor soaked by another guest. Curtain hanging off the rails, bannisters broken. I expected it to be run down but it's beyond that, which is a big shame as it's a beautiful building & mostly needs a good wipe down.
Review 81:Bed sheets were clean & a code to get into the building at night so no conversations were needed. That's the only positives.
Review 82:I had put my time of arrival, called and asked if the room was available as I had to change for a meeting. I was told that I had to pay an early check in fee of £10 I asked to be shown where this was documented but it wasnt and I still had to wait for the room to be cleaned
Review 83:We were told we would receive a refund from head office when we chose toleave by the on site manager. We are still waiting for this. It is theworst place I have ever come across. Dirty and smelly, with furniturecovered in graffiti. Avoid at all costs. Booking.com should remove itfrom their website. I have stayed in cheaper travelodges that were fineso a budget hotel can get it right.
Review 84:Nothing we left as it was so terrible.
Review 85:The rooms are disgusting the carpet and the walls were filthy. It was spot the clean bit. Had to move room as the bathroom was flooded. The telly didn't work. And the shower was ridiculous.the location is not orpington high street it's further up the road about a mile or so away.
Review 86:I've never feared for my life in a hotel before. It's the sort of place you see on films when someone is trying to lay low in Mexico.
Review 87:I was cheap.
Review 88:Didnt like the people outside our window smoking weed special has we had young chidren with us.the shower dint work.tv no remote holes in carpet.mould in shoer tray toilet wasnt cleaned still poo on the rim
Review 89:Everywhere was dusty in our bedroom and ensuite had a terrible smell from the drains, stain in Bath and WHB. Lack of hygiene in public areas and breakfast room had same debris under table for all 3 days of our stay. Also room was extermely hot due to proximity to boiler.
Review 90:Location, Value for Money, Bed Linen and Towels were very clean.
Review 91:Very dusty room, looked like it hadn'the had a good clean in a few years. Sound travelled through walls easily, wouldn'the recommend for light sleepers.
Review 92:Shower was hot. Bed seemed clean (relative to the room). Characterful building.
Review 93:Filthy place
Review 94:Just a filthy dive . Asked for money back .wouldnt stay there if they paid me .dont know why you even advertise it .HAVE A LOOK FOR YOUSELF !
Review 95:Tv didn't work, very dated. Breakfast table clothes were dirty
Review 96:In need of a refurbish. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they were very welcoming to our dog
Review 97:room was dirty and smelt of mould. There was no hand towels. Entrance to court yard was dirty and flooring was unsafe. Entrance door had a glass panel missing and had been fixed with black tape.
Review 98:Close to venue we were attending
Review 99:Dirty stains on curtains, dirty and stains on carpet, hole's in wall dirty wallpaper, Out of date furniture, and T.V didn't work.
Review 100:Nothing! Well not quit they had free WI-FI that's all that was good.
Review 101:No curtains and no blinds on window, also water tank was next to the room which made noises of water dripping. There for I didn't stay at the room!
Review 102:Dirty & got bitten by bedbugs. Looked more like a crack den than accommodation. I.might go as far as to report the place as a health risk.
Review 103:We unfortunately dint like anything.
Review 104:This hotel is appalling, on arrival it looked in a state of disrepair,on entry we were not dissapponted!! Filthy dirty, We were warned ourbedroom would be warm, but there was a fan in the room. Reality was wewere in a full blown sauna with an industrial Fan that sounded like wewere in an aeroplane hangar. My daughter and I had not one wink of sleepdue to the noise and heat. How this hotel has not been investigated by aHealth inspector from the council is beyond me!!
Review 105:The room was so hot there were 2 fans in the room, but only usable with the window wide open - and it opens onto a noisy main road!. The sink was partly blocked, there were lightbulbs missing, plaster cracked, the walls were stained, it had the feel of a doss house. The breakfast was inedible.
Review 106:There was nothing to like about this hotel,
Review 107:Although the receptionist was very helpful and polite, this did not makeup for the complete lack of cleanliness of the hotel. The room wasbooked for 4 nights, checked out after day 1...very disappointed.
Review 108:Breakfast tales in a deplorable state - no tablecloths. Beans and tomato were stone cold on a cold plate Being on the top floor was difficult for my age.
Review 109:Room was comfortable
Review 110:the carpet in the room was dirty and the traffic noise from outside was a nuisance - but for £45 for the room for the night - you wouldnt expect this to be 4*
Review 111:The staff were fantastic, due to being a mainly male orientated bar of beet drinkers, there was no lemon or lime for my Gin & Tonic. One particular friendly, helpful and made the stay more pleasant (Hicham Hossni) evenn went to the lengths pof getting me a lemon and slicing it up for me for my evening drinks and having to go to the cash point machine as the card terminal was down even lent me an umbrella as it was tipping down with rain - nothing was to much trouble.
Review 112:Staff thought it funny when I banged my head badly on a low door lintel. Although the manager did in the end give me a complimentary drink I did feel humiliated and upset.
Review 113:Great value for money and a really comfortable bedroom that was full of character and interest.
Review 114:Hotel appearance/decor is run down, shabby and in need of major refurbishment, including bedrooms. Shower scalds or freezes, no plug in sink, old box TV. Breakfast total shambles: run out of spoons, knives, glasses, cups. Only the dregs of cereals left and cooked breakfast was inedible pool of grease!
Review 115:The location was good, next to a retail park, convenience stores, pharmacy and a laundarette. It was also close to main bus routes and a short walk to St Mary's Cray rail station. Free wifi was appreciated.
Review 116:The room was filthy pubic hair in the bathroom. Wallpaper ripped and overall decor dirty and shabby. A fight took part in the room above ours twice once at 23:10 to 23:50 and then again at 04:15 you could hear furniture being thrown around it was really frightening. When the toilet was flushed or the taps used a loud banging noise ensued. When I complained in the morning the girl said she could do nothing and maybe we had imagined it. The worst place I have ever stayed!!!
Review 117:The hotel was rather run down and under staffed. The facilities were poor, bar under-stocked and restaurant only served burgers.
Review 118:Having seen some of the reviews I was expecting much worse and in fact we had a great time. The staff did their best under difficult conditions.
Review 119:I had booked the Mary Rose hotel for 20th and 21st July. After staying 1 night I decided to look for an alternative as the place was so sadly run down I could not endure another night at this hotel. The car park hardly instills confidence with old cars being left here some with chairs inside and look abandanded for some time. The bar stunk of Bo and the staircase to my room was shabby and carpets filthy. On entering my room the bathroom and main door were all smashed at the bottom and the grouting around bath liked like a child had repaired it. I thought the radiators were on as the heat was styfling but realised that they were not but hot water was still coming through the pipes. I kept my windows open because of the heat and eventually dud get some sleep at 2 am only to woken again with constant talking outside and doors Slamming in the corridor. I had had hardly any sleep that night and realised I would be getting the same the next. This place shouldn't even charge 20 pounds per night.
Review 120:bed springs pushing right throught you, no hot water, mould in bathroom, no tv remote, poorly decorated, minimal pillows. Didnt go back for the second night even though they offered another room.
Review 121:the electric shower worked.
Review 122:No toilet roll in the bar toilet on each occasion I used them. When booking in the morning and later in the evening when returning to the hotel after a wedding
Review 123:A little basic but clean bed linen and towels. Bed was comfortable. Room and bathroom were clean
Review 124:The carpets were filthy as was the bed. The shower and bathroom floor were dirty. Furniture was broken and lights didn't work. Generally the whole place was dirty and very shabby.
Review 125:Unfortunately there wasn't anything to like about this `hotel`
Review 126:Carpet was filthy. No bathroom light. Ceiling parting company with wall. Generally dilapidated. Located next to railway line on viaduct.
Review 127:Wifi was ok. Bed linen was clean
Review 128:This is a complete fleapit and I would strongly recommend Booking.com to de-list it as it tarnishes their reputation. Without question the worst place I ever stayed. Noting works! TV, toilet flush, shower, heating - all broken. Staff just shrug their shoulders and walk off. It's also an incredibly unwelcoming environment; it has the feel of a half-way house, and my room looked as though it has been broken into several times. Which wouldn't be difficult as the door is pretty flimsy. Rooms overlook a courtyard area that is stacked up with rubbish. Room was filthy, rust all over radiators, matress like a brick. Lots of noise. I could go on. I picked up what I thought was a "cheap" deal (50 quid) but it still wasn't good value at all. You can get a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge for that price, and they are world apart from this place. Avoid at all costs.
Review 129:Very little
Review 130:The guy at the front desk was very rude and did not perform his duties as customer service. We were unable to locate the room allocated and he refuse to get up to direct Us. Poor
