Reviews for Three Wells Hotel

Review 1:Friendly staff, great food, nothing too much trouble. Room was clean and fresh. Shame we couldn't have seen more of the grounds as it didn't stop raining!! Would have spent a little more time in lounge area if the log burner had been lit probably. No covered outside area for the smokers. This is the only negative. Will definitely recommend and stay there again.

Review 2:Everything....staff,very comfortable bed, spotless linen and room, complemetary shower acc,s,location. ...oh and a fabulous selection of locally brewed beers....shame I hadn't got the intelligence to bring some home...LOL!!!

Review 3:Enjoyed the food but not a lot of variety if one were to stay longer unless the menu changes nightly, which I didn't think was the case.

Review 4:Peaceful location, which some might consider too isolated. Very quiet. Our "premier suite" was excellent and worth paying the premium for, although I understand some of the other rooms were less soundproof.

Review 5:only one choice of vegetarian option on the menu, however the starters were superb and value for money.

Review 6:The staff especially the lady who checked us in were really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 7:The establishment is tired and in need of decor. Odd steps to the dining area, no good for elderly or disabled. Mattress in twin room uncomfortably soft and you could hear bed springs creaking.

Review 8:The breakfast was good. However I think it should advertise itself as a guesthouse rather than a hotel

Review 9:Some of the fixtures and fittings were a bit rough round the edges but generally everything was quite acceptable. Possibly slightly over priced for the accommodation, but the fantastic food and lovely staff made this less of an issue.

Review 10:Very comfortable room, pleasant view, quiet, brilliant food. The staff were all very friendly and made us really welcome. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 11:Wifi was very weak in bedrooms and unusable This is not a big issue though, it didn't detract from the stay

Review 12:The staff couldn't be more helpful, and a superb location Brolliant weekend

Review 13:Was on a motorcycle touring weekend and booked a twin room at the last minute, what a result! A lovely hotel, friendly staff, very comfortable room, and a superb restaurant. Will definitely be back.

Review 14:The bed had a very thin mattress and metal framed bed base. Not comfortable. Could only get free WiFi in the main building not in our room

Review 15:The food was excellent The staff were very friendly and helpful The room was clean and complimentary tea/coffee, range of snacks were local products and very nice.

Review 16:We arrived to find our booking was not registered with them - either their fault or booking.com but then discovered it had happened to someone else which implied it was the hotel. They gave us a 'family room' and tried to charge us more, the television did not work but they did mend it in time for the final of Masterchef. The family room consisted of two rooms, the children's part had a television, the adult room did not, so we had to perch on a child's bed to watch the television. For some reason the door handle was installed the wrong way, very odd. Breakfast was OK but the dinner was not. The blackened monkfish was accompanied by a red hot chorizo which destroyed any fish flavour that might have existed.

Review 17:Unique setting and outstanding personal service. The evening meal menu gave a good choice. The feather rib steak was cooked and served to perfection. This was an additional bonus and the standard must be recognised. Comfy bed and quiet location ensured a good night's sleep. Getting away from the uniform hotel environment was a delight.

Review 18:Closing the bar at 21.45 without courtesy of asking if we wanted anything else. Locking doors, switching lights off all around us. This after slapping unchilled wine on our table. This guy spoiled the atmosphere- the hotel deserved better.

Review 19:Sitting by the pond, drink in hand

Review 20:Room, residents lounge, cold, deco poor, furnishig poor, table lamps on the floor, no atmosphere but apart from that it was great !!!

Review 21:Not much, breakfast ok

Review 22:Only things that let the room down where the poor shower flow and the exceptionally creaky floor. The warm gin & tonic and lack of wine options where disappointing.

Review 23:The location is great, nice to sit and watch the swans & geese on the lake. Friendly & helpfull staff. Good parking.

Review 24:I would ideally like bigger and softer pillows and for the wifi to work!

Review 25:Excellent supper and breakfast. Interesting menu using local ingredients and very well cooked and presented.

Review 26:I always find hotels far too hot for me, and this was no exception - so windows were wide open. Pleased I arrived in daylioght, otherwise it would have been difficult to find up the country lane.

Review 27:although travelling alone, I paid for and stayed in a double room. Room was large and clean. Tea & Biscuits were good. Wi-fi had fast responses. Hotel was quiet and Breakfast was arranged for me for 7am as I had to be aware early.

Review 28:Being woken up early by the drumming sound of a young child running around upstairs above our room which obviously had no sound insulation. The shower was pretty useless too, with a very low flow rate (unless you wanted it cold). However, until the early start we had had a comfortable night's sleep.

Review 29:Set in a lovely secluded location, the staff were friendly and the room looked clean and inviting with a lovely view. The food in the restaurant was very good and we had the best breakfast in many a year. The complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits etc were the most generous variety we have experienced in this type of property.

Review 30:Thin bedroom walls.

Review 31:An excellent evening meal with a tasty good Welsh bottled ale. A generous breakfast to set us up for the day and friendly staff.

Review 32:Bed was a little lumpy, and got quite cold through the night, milk in basket was out of date, but got tea with our breakfast so did not mind. Little noisy early in the morning.

Review 33:Great friendly staff, lovely breakfast and gorgeous views.

Review 34:We enjoyed our stay and could not fault it.

Review 35:The staff were amazing, very attentive. The location is very peaceful and tranquil. Our room was overlooking the lake, bed was extremely comfortable, had a very good night's sleep. Plenty of hot water, enough to fill the bath twice. Really nice touches in the room -toiletries, bottled water and an excellent hamper which contained crisps, waffles, chocolate bar and plenty of tea, coffee & milk. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely book this hotel again.

Review 36:Room layout very strange with radiator behind headboard Not very warm (but only just reopened after post-Xmas closure and we were provided with an electric heater which solved the problem)

Review 37:Quiet location Good service Good food Very attractive lounge area immediately inside entrance

Review 38:The hotel is definitely unsuitable for disabled people. It would be impossible for them to change this.

Review 39:the room was warm! the staff were very friendly the lake was a joy

Review 40:We could not download anything via the free wifi which was a difficulty for us as we were travelling and wanted to confirm arrangements. We had some plumbing issues but they were attended to immediately, so no real problem.

Review 41:Nice bedroom, nice people and great breakfast.

Review 42:Staff not very helpful upon checking in. Basically thrown a key and pointed in general direction on room. Shower pressure terrible to the point where it stopped completely. Told reception staff to be then told that it's an old building, next wait 20 mins and there'll be more hot water. Not really what you expect at these prices

Review 43:Location

Review 44:The passage to the room (admittedly ours was the one at the end) was rather an expedition but worth it when we got there! One disabled lady was complaining - but I think that's unfair. Going to an extended farm house with no lift and not enquiring about access when you're disabled is a big oversight. Some buzzing noise from electricals but I know I'm very sensitive to those noises

Review 45:Staff so helpful and friendly - made the other guests friendly as well! Excellent home cooked food even on a Monday night. We had one of the extra large rooms - nicely newly furnished with an extra little lounge. Lovely views and very quiet generally.

Review 46:We booked a Premium Suite, and were given Room 14 is at the top of the house, in the attic. It is overpriced. It is approached up one very long straight staircase, followed by two shorter flights, the first of which has very high risers. The sitting area is down 3 steps from the bedroom, and is very sparsely furnished with just a hard low backed sofa, a coffee table and a large TV. There is no DVD player as stated on the booking.com website. Heating went off well before breakfast and while we were having dinner - no good for a winter booking. When I complained we were provided with an electric convector heater. The bathroom was let down by the shower - I found that no water came out unless the shower valve was first opened followed by opening the bath or basin hot tap which started a booster pump. The plumbing seems to need attention. Bathroom finish was let down by poor and very amateur looking mastic seals at floor level and around the bath. There are three steps down to the first level of the dining room - two with shallow risers and the last with a high one, which is a trip or fall hazard. There are further steps from the upper to lower level of the dining room, again with high risers and narrow treads. The entrance to the hotel is up 3 steep steps. In short, the hotel is unsuitable for people with disability or mobility problems. Evening meals were of good quality, though the menu was not changed and after 4 nights we were running out of options to choose. Breakfast sausages were not the great farm quality one might have expected in a rural area.

Review 47:The location was good. Breakfasts were standard B+B/hotel fare. Evening meals were very good, but Large bathroom with good quality fittings, bath and shower cubicle. Hot water in the morning and evening.

Review 48:Wifi was not very good, could not connect with my iPad in our bedroom, only in the lounge.

Review 49:Breakfast was good, also we had dinner and was good as well, although a bit overpriced. It was very clean and comfortable. Nice and quiet location close to town centre. Good value for money.

Review 50:being told we had to eat by 7 on our arrival at 6.20 pm and when i asked if it would be ok to get down for 6.55 pm i was told no 6.30 pm. there was approximately 16 of us and no one else in the restaurant.

Review 51:Having booked the most expensive room we were disappointed with the quality of the accommodation. We could hear every word from the adjacent room. Noisy pipes.

Review 52:Surrounding views.

Review 53:if you are less mobile than some, there are lots of changes in levels, steps and low ceilings - but that is the nature of the building.

Review 54:great service - felt as though nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food and restaurant service. Limited but acceptable wine list.Very comfortable and quiet room. Wifi access reasonable.

Review 55:Bedroom was situated above the kitchen and it's noise. Room needs modernising but believe its in the process of being done. Very quiet generally in the hotel so no real atmosphere, particularly in the restaurant.

Review 56:Outlook to fields, horses and sheep Quality of food/breakfast

Review 57:Hadnt realised that it was so far out of town. This could be made clearer on the booking site. The lighting in the bar area in the evening could be a bit more relaxing

Review 58:Delightful rural setting Excellent & unusual Thai restaurant nearby The positives far outweigh the negatives

Review 59:There is not much not to like - some detail things - the electricity pole and overhead cables right in the middle of the view of the lake would benefit from disappearing underground, and possibly a bit more made of the lake (but I'm scratching now). And better reading lights in the rooms would be nice.

Review 60:It feels like you are in the middle of a farm (which you are) with all the benefits of solitude, quiet and dark night skies. But there are all the comforts of a hotel - nice pub, excellent food and very welcoming staff. And nearby are some unique places to visit - the Kite feeding farm was very special and Hay-on-Wye is lovely. We stayed a day too short because we did not have a chance to go for a walk.

Review 61:1 The establishment calls itself an hotel but has few facilities that merit that description. eg No internal communication; a very poor hot water flow rate (if you ever get any), no automatic change of towels and no facility for drying those that are already damp. No refrigerator. 2.The bathroom had new facilities (shower etc). When I told the (owner?) that it didn't work properly, his reply was "It does." He then continued saying that I had been rude to his staff. This presumably is because I had the temerity of not accepting a beer because it was almost opaque. 3. There were stairs outside our room (No 16) which were advertised as a fire escape. They were almost completely obstructed by childrens' push chairs. 4 The property has good potential but it is marred by a sense that it is somewhat run down, even though money is being spent on "updating". However my greatest criticism is teh attitude of the senior staff/owner who managed to leave a very bad taste. I feel that I have been overcharged for the privilege of staying there.

Review 62:The views (except for a huge pile of plastic bags in the farmyard) were very pleasant; as were the livestock (horses) on the farm. Very quiet position. Breakfast was good but finished much earlier than one comes to expect. (09:00)

Review 63:leaving

Review 64:I had a very relaxing break, staff all very helpful room was clean and bright the food was very well presented. I would use this hotel again when in the area.

Review 65:Still had a B&B fell with an old decoration touch Not the hotel they would like to fully become.

Review 66:The meals both dinner & breakfast was super quality of a high gourmet style and great value too.

Review 67:Just that beds could have been better as mattresses a bit soft and also the restaurant could have had more of an a la carte menu and more variation.

Review 68:Quiet and peaceful location of hotel in lovely tranquil setting with friendly and helpful staff.

Review 69:The location was beautiful and our room was very modern and tastefully decorated we had a suite which was even better .. The evening meal was so good as was the breakfast will definitely be recommending it to friends , Florence Wales .

Review 70:We had a suite and it was lovely and spacious. Very clean and nice and quiet. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was great. Really enjoyed our stay.

Review 71:Very friendly welcome. Efficient book in process even though there were 19 of us. Comfortable bedrooms and quiet location giving a good nights sleep. The food was excellent. We are staying again in September and already I am looking forward to the evening meal.

Review 72:There was nothing to dislike - these independent places should be suported

Review 73:Very comfy small hotel with lovely staff. Food very good for a country hotel - try the puddings. Slept very well. Quiet, lovely location and yet very near to LLandridnod Wells which is a quirky town with a charming bicycle museum and art scuplture woodland trail

Review 74:our bath room left a bit to be desired.Having said that the bathroom is going to be refurbished this back end.

Review 75:Quiet Location, excellent food clean and comfortable.

Review 76:The mattress on our bed had springs that dug into you which made it uncomfortable but in fairness the staff thanked us for letting them know and hopefully this will be remedied.

Review 77:The rooms had been improved by redecoration since our last visit some time ago. The ensuite was very good and the hamper baskets in the bedrooms with a bar of chocolate crisps and waffle biscuits was a very nice touch.

Review 78:Staff were so un intrusive I felt awkward making conversation. You need a bit of chat to run a B and B.

Review 79:The food was amazing. We had 2 evening meals at the restaurant and both were great. Would have been nicer if it was a little busier though. Really liked the bar and un intrusive staff.

Review 80:Pillows were uncomfortable and TV didn't work. shower could have been better

Review 81:spacious room, lovely views. wifi, Tea/coffee etc,. friendly welcome and helpful staff, excellent breakfast.

Review 82:Breakfast was poor, industrial bread, little service, overlooked poached eggs and bacon/sausage tasted as if it had been cooked the previous night.

Review 83:Dinner was excellent, home cooked, delicious food.

Review 84:The room was a little noisy (creaking floors and doors easily heard, plus the breakfast radio). This wouldn't put me off - simply use earplugs when needed.

Review 85:Beautiful peaceful location. Lovely firm comfortable bed. A great plus to have several delicious snacks in the room!

Review 86:the owners not helping out when needed. rather expensive for the area

Review 87:we arrived around 12-30pm but there was no one about,we then waited for 1hour & still no-one appeared,so off we went into llandriddod wells for a couple of hours(not really recommended)still on arriving back we met Kelvin(i think) who was very helpful & made us feel at home. The night meal was very good, but again the bar lacked atmosphere & we never saw the owners, which is a shame as the potential is there.Thank-you Kelvin for looking after us so well & sorry to not have seen you before we left(good luck) The breakfast was O.K.but nothing special which again was a shame as the evening meal was a treat

Review 88:Very quiet, a good nights sleep
