Reviews for The Savoy
Review 1:The only problem was that the lift is too small cant fit baggage and 2 people in
Review 2:Liked that we had a balcony that looked out to the sea it was lovely to sit out and wathch the world go by
Review 3:Returned home yesterday from a two night stay with my sister and young son, second time here this year and third time overall. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and if anything I would say it was the best stay we've had here. Happy New Year all at Savoy, see you in 2016
Review 4:TV had permanent subtitles, annoying. Extract fan in bathroom made terrible noise when light switched on.
Review 5:Staff very friendly. Room spacious and clean. Food OK.
Review 6:2 chairs in the room but not really enough space for both
Review 7:Double bed in a single room. I wasnt expecting that so was a lovely surprise and very comfortable
Review 8:We didn't have any problems at all.
Review 9:The hotel was in an ideal location right on the sea front, overlooking the beach. The room was lovely , well decorated, comfy bed, good bathroom and warm. The meals were well cooked and presented and plentiful with a good choice. The staff were lovely, efficient and very helpful.we will definately be going back and we will recommend it to family and friends.
Review 10:This hotel is in a perfect location for the centre. We had a wonderful sea view rom with balcony which was lovely even on a rainy day. Everywhere is decorated to a high standard. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 11:The lovely bay window and view in our room. It was great to have the option of smoked haddock at breakfast and the staff were friendly and very professional
Review 12:there was no shower in the bathroom and the bath was only big enough if you were no taller than 4 ft 11. decor changes from excellent to standard once you reach the corridors to the rooms. the walls are paper thin and can hear everything from the next room and above and the car park is shocking!
Review 13:super comfy bed, nice decor downstairs.nice food and lovely staff, rooms spotless.
Review 14:Would of liked 2sausages and 2hash browns at breakfast but only got one of each!! Thats all
Review 15:We liked it being on the seafront lovely walk very friendly when we walked in and helpfull aswell.
Review 16:we liked the friendliness of all the staff and management. the rooms were of a high standard for both cleanliness and comfort and as a result we would recommend a stay at this hotel to anyone.
Review 17:Bed mattress was horrendously uncomfortable. Was well used and desperate for replacing . Room could do with updating and all scratches on outside of the door. Lady on reception miserable
Review 18:downstairs decor was excellent and clean in eating and bar area . Staff friendly
Review 19:Pity couldn't get parking space at hotel and meant looking for car space.
Review 20:Couldn't fault anything and we were well looked after. Meals were good. Location good for getting out and about. Rooms good.
Review 21:Nothing made us want to dislike anything.
Review 22:As soon as you walk into the hotel you have a feel good about it. Very clean and comfortable with really nice and friendly staff.
Review 23:The second time I've stayed at the Savoy, this time with my elderly parents who thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Staff were very friendly and accomodating to them and it was much appreciated.
Review 24:We only stopped for one night with family ,attending a family party nearby, but we really enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed comfortable clean bed, nice breakfast and more.
Review 25:nothing.
Review 26:everything.staff helpfull & friendly.full english breakfast great set you up till tea time only had 3 course evening meal once but was very tasty.could charge my mobility scooter up & store it indoors.room was fab clean comfy & modern right on the front with sea view had walk in shower great for me as disabled .very pet friendly the dog enjoyed her stay too she made friends with some of the staff .location brill right in middle of everything.entertainment in the bar on an evening was good other ppl staying where very friendly too.hope to go back again & have same room had to swop to another room for last night (only cos we decided to stay 2 extra nights & it was already booked on the last 1) but again the 2nd room was a good 1.would recommend "savoy" to friends esp ones with a dog.had a great holiday made all the better by good hotel.
Review 27:Shower could of been more powerful however very warm and bathroom clean
Review 28:Great for all of skegness Lovely up to date room Great breakfast quick service
Review 29:if you like cereals etc and 1 egg,1 piece of bacon, etc on a dinner plate then this b/fast is for you,but if you like 2eggs 2 bacon and 2sausage,with bread and butter, like i do,then forget it, this is what lets it down in my opinion.I was going to ask the waitress, but everybody was having the same sort of meal,so i thought better of it ,
Review 30:the staff ,how clean it is,the area where it is, and a good nights sleep
Review 31:Very basic. Had to order breakfast night before if you wanted fish. Lot of money for what it was. Our friends paid less at a different hotel which was lovely.
Review 32:bar man nice
Review 33:Not in anyway a bad experience, just thought the showers could be modernised as they aren't very powerful.
Review 34:The staff were lovely, the location is great and so is the hotel itself! The breakfast was tasty and just enough to set you up for the day. Would definitely stay again!
Review 35:The so called family room was so small that we couldn't move. One of the wardrobes was unusable as it was blocked by a bedside cabinet. The toilet stunk all night. It was a cupboard under the stairs-we felt a bit like in Harry Potter. Breakfast was very small, coffee was instant coffee- not at all 4 star quality. We will definitely NOT book again
Review 36:nothing
Review 37:Asked for walk in shower due to mobility problems and was given a shower over the bath. Was offered another room but it was very very small so we declined.
Review 38:Excellant location. All staff friendly. Room was clean but not very big.
Review 39:The hangers in the wardrobe were broken and their was not enough so we went out and bought some. The shower was terrible, no power and dangerous for our granddaughter to use on her own as their was no temperature control. The bath was far too small for adults to use. The wi fi did not work away from the lounge area.
Review 40:The location was ideal, everything we needed and wanted to do was on the doorstep. The staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful.
Review 41:Could not fault the Hotel at all.
Review 42:Fantastic hotel. Great friendly staff. Very clean and facilities brilliant.Breakfast was lovely, served straight away and staff very helpful. Will be booking another stay in the near future.
Review 43:I wasn't very pleased with the view of a flat roof and the pillows were like rock Va
Review 44:the staff were very pleasant helpful nothing was to much trouble.
Review 45:The room was to small , the bed was very uncomfortable much to soft and the cooked breakfast was very small.the room was very hot and stuffy with no air-conditioned with a window that was backing on to other hotels so not allowing air to flow.
Review 46:The breakfast
Review 47:I couldnt believe the difference in the upstairs and downstairs. Our bedroom was very small and out dated and the view was chimneys very disapointed
Review 48:I thought the downstairs was fabulous
Review 49:Did not like being called 'sweetheart' or 'darling' by the young waitresses. Some people may not have minded this, but it is over-familiar, very irritating, and disrespectful to older people.
Review 50:good clean and friendly hotel
Review 51:Very busy but great location for a very busy seaside resort. Staff are fantastic. Would recommend to other seaside travellers if you want close to the resort and action
Review 52:Free wifi we wasn't able to connect we had a password to login but was turned off at 12 and never came bk on following day. Full English was small portion 1 rasher bacon 1 sausage poor!!
Review 53:Room lovely with balcony view!
Review 54:The only thing i didn't like was the shower in my room was not power full at all, it was quicker to have a bath
Review 55:Lovely hotel, ideal location, rooms nice & clean would go again
Review 56:the small issue was the wifi wasnt strong in the bedroom but who wants to go on the internet all holiday anyway everything else made up for it.
Review 57:Everything was amazing, staff where lovely and like a big family, we traveled by coach and they let us check in early and looked after our bags on the last day for a few hours as well giving us a stress free start and end the bar and dining room are 5 star quality i cant see why they are only 4, so pleased and will defo be staying again!
Review 58:They had given us a double room when we booked a twin. Their attitude changed when informed them of this, leading us to believe they were homophobic. There was very loud 'entertainment', which we were not informed of, until 11pm which meant we could not open the window or sleep. When we called reception to ask when it would be finishing they rudely said 'entertainment is on til 11.' The lift was like being in a coffin. The food was not great.
Review 59:It was clean and the staff were mostly friendly. When we were put in a double after booking a twin they changed us to a triple room straight away although we were not even offered any help to move rooms even though we are disabled and informed them of this. Quiet a variety of food at breakfast.
Review 60:Loved this hotel, easy to find, great location right on the sea front, excellent staff who couldn't do enough for us, clean, well decorated and nice and quiet
Review 61:My Mum and I love staying at this hotel, the staff are friendly and very helpful. Home cooked food, the rooms are good standard and clean.. We will definatly be back.
Review 62:ordered early breakfast , when we got up .asked for our breakfast porter said did not know anything about it and the chef will not be in for 3/4to 1hr
Review 63:location
Review 64:The only thing we didnt like was the weather. It rained. Ohcand the lift. Myself and 4year old grandfather got stuck for a few mins.
Review 65:We liked the location and the friendliness of staff and guests. And when l gof home l realised l left a bag of clothes in room. Man on end of phone couldnt have been more helpful and unnderstanding. Hes posting them on to us. Brillant
Review 66:On arrival not asked if we needed help with our bags. Our room (#37) not cleaned properly, thick white dust on bathroom door and bedside cabinet surfaces bathroom floor dusty and dirty. Cracked tiles in bathroom. Previous guests hair accessories left on desk chair. (Artificial flowers on a Bun Net). Desk chair cigarette burn on seat. Very dated decor throughout Hotel and our Room. Dogs barking in room next door. Didn't stay for breakfast as the hygiene standard of the room was not encouraging when considering kitchen practices. On our departure, receptionist did not ask if we had a pleasant stay. She seemed irritated that she had to get someone to move a car that was parked in front of ours so we could leave. (sighed and tutted) At £95 per night plus £3 to park I expect a clean room as a basic requirement regardless of prime location and more attention to customer service. I would not recommend this Hotel and will not be staying again.
Review 67:Location
Review 68:Room was rather small. It had a spare single bed which was not needed for a couple . Rooms have only shower or bath facilities - our room had a bath and no shower - not even a hose link to the taps ; Not nice having a bath on a beautiful hot July summers day . Be careful with parking -we booked requesting parking but none was available at the hotel .I would recommend phoning hotel to check parking availability prior to booking room .
Review 69:Very clean !
Review 70:As always when e stay at the Savoy we have an excellent stay, this was a little more serious.Being a diabetes my blood sugar dropped alarmingly low but the help from Ruth f the Savoy she having experience of this type of illness when straight into action supplied me with the correct food and water. So when I settled down had a good night sleep and rose feeling much better and we left at 12 noon heading home. Because off Ruth's quick and correct action we were able to drive home the following day and not moved into hospital for a week or more. But this is the standard of service you receive during your stay at the Savoy Hotel.
Review 71:No one saw to us on our first morning to allocate us a table, so when we sat down we got told to move as someone else who'd be there longer was sitting there.
Review 72:The space in the room, the cleanliness and the politeness at the front desk
Review 73:Very impressed with hotel, location, interior decoration first class and parking facilities excellent all in for a seaside town an outstanding hotel .
Review 74:The room very dark needs lighter colour schem, Bed very uncomfortable and pillows all need serious updating, Room a bit on the small side,
Review 75:Staff. service.clean All excellent .all booking in and car Park booking well handled,
Review 76:Although our room was well appointed and spotlessly clean it was rather small.
Review 77:Great location right opposite the pier. Smart looking hotel with all the usual facilities. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Review 78:waitress clothing dirty & coughing over you at breakfast, sorry... powdered scrambled eggs dogs allowed - sorry I like dogs, but the thought that one may have been on the beds...
Review 79:location decor facilities communal areas friendly staff nice rooms better than others looked at apart from scrambled eggs food looked good.
Review 80:Double bed & single bed made room space very small. Preference for a twin room. Major argument in room above ours very noisy & language appalling, not hotel's fault but guess no sound proving
Review 81:Evening entertainment Car parking Friendly staff
Review 82:We didn't like the dust on the TV wall mount or the headboard also the pictures and lamp shades! Also hand prints on the mirror! This is basic house keeping not a good first impression! The rooms are dated and tired looking. The shower was also faulty
Review 83:We liked the location, we liked the downstairs area, we liked the politeness of all the staff.we also liked the added bonus of on site parking.
Review 84:Breakfast ok but not the most exciting. Thought it unusual that there were no latches on inside of bedroom doors.
Review 85:Rooms fine, lounge good, nice to have board games etc available. Happy to store bags so we didn't have to carry them around all day.
Review 86:Small room so wouldn't spend a week in this particular room. Others may have been bigger. No view from window, except next doors wall.
Review 87:Nice people, clean, tidy and would stay again.
Review 88:rowdy lads on one of our nights stay. Also not being able to park at hotel. very few parking spots for size of hotel.
Review 89:letting us take our dog and staff very friendly
Review 90:Only moan is the room very small up in the gods, and felt more like a single, claustrophobic, and no bath just shower
Review 91:The location of hotel, very clean, staff lovely in restaurant
Review 92:We didnt have a space in the car park because apparently you have to reserve a space but it dosnt say anything about that on the booking.com website. No real apology from reception staff. We were told we had a double room with seaview when the hotel called me to confirm my booking only to find it was a room at the back. Again no apology from reception staff we just got told it hadnt been noted down so the bookings would of been juggled around. My dad who has mobility issued hired a scooter & on one occasion headed back to the hotel ahead of us. When we arrived there 10mins later he was sat at the front door waiting for someone to hold the door for him while he drive his scooter in. He'd rang the bell but the man on reception told us the bell didnt work while he sat next to the CCTV monitor with a camera pointing to the front door entrance! Breakfast was basic but still nice. Our room was small which i never really worry about the bathroom was tiny. Two people couldnt fit i at the same time & the bulb was a energy saving one so you had to leave it on for a while to brighten up otherwise you couldnt see what you were doing.
Review 93:Location good Bar area/lounge nice but no music Nice & clean
Review 94:The bingo players (oldies)taking over the bar on both nights of stay during the weekend. lift out of date
Review 95:Clean room, excellent breakfast and service at breakfast.
Review 96:felt a bit rushed at breakfast , although we did not want anymore toast etc it was not offered.
Review 97:loved the location , balcony and cosy room. Staff were very friendly. Felt comfortable and relaxed in lovely clean surroundings.
Review 98:My bedroom was very hot. It was above the entertainment room so very noisy and couldn't get to sleep. People banging and talking outside my room at 5am in the morning leaving suitcases around in the corridor outside my door. Then at 7am the lift was next to my room banging up and down with people leaving. Got no sleep at all.
Review 99:Friendly staff. Very clean. Very accessible in the town.
Review 100:Couldn't say there was anything we disliked. Still just out of season so everything not open but could visualise it being quite a busy resort when everything did open.
Review 101:Only time we've been to Skegness as adults. Found it to be a very nice place. Hotel had all the attributes we look for in accommodation.
Review 102:it's absolutely not child friendly!! I've requested a travel cot but got informed at check in that they have none!? The room was not children friendly at all (cables, plugs everywhere, chest of drawers easily could fall on a toddler, etc). No highchair at breakfast. It's simply not suitable for small children.
Review 103:the location is great, breakfast was nice. Has unattended luggage storage.
Review 104:we were not told the extractor fan for the kitchen comes on two hours before meals and continues until later. Noise not acceptable. Only that we went out at key times could we accept it.
Review 105:Clean
Review 106:The room was very small for 3 of us and I was disappointed that there was not a proper shower in the bathroom (it was just a shower hose with no hook at top).
Review 107:Location of hotel was good, staff extremely helpful and welcoming and breakfast was very good. Bar and lounge area modern and comfortable.
Review 108:Bed rather small. We have a king size at home.
Review 109:Hotel and staff were great. Room rather compact though clean and comfortable.wasn't really an issue as we were only in there to sleep and get changed etc.
Review 110:Didn't get a sea view.
Review 111:Rooms were modern and very clean. Bar area was comfortable with lovely décor and staff were friendly. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the stay too!
Review 112:the room was a bit small to work as a double, with two of us in there it was difficult to get around the room without being in each others way. also with the room being on the top floor the water had trouble getting out of the shower which made it difficult to wash properly.
Review 113:it was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and we were well looked after
Review 114:No parking facilities available for pur stay had to park on the road around the corner of the hotel. No shower facilities and the bath was tiny !!! Would have loved a king size bed instead of a double
Review 115:The hotel was walking distance from the town centre
Review 116:The gentleman on reception gave us no information about the hotel only where to find our room. We went out for an evening meal as we wasn't told we could have one in the hotel
Review 117:The hotel was in a great location with so excellent views if your on the front. Hotel is nicely decorated.
Review 118:the room smelt a bit a very nice lady on room service sprayed room freshener it went went to the theatre I had nothing to eat since lunch as I was traveling from BOSTON unable to get any form of snack as it had gone 21.30
Review 119:very happy lady serving breakfast a good cup of tea nice bacon cooked as I asked it to be
Review 120:We didn't like the shower water flow not good at all,the guests in the next room kept banging on the wall for some reason
Review 121:We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends
Review 122:cant find anything I didn't like about the savoy. it has great food nice friendly staff and close to all entertainment
Review 123:I like every thing about the savoy that's the reason I booked this hotel as I have stayed there before
Review 124:Bed shower the door outside the room kept banging.stairs making lots of noise. The walls between rooms are thin you can hear the slightest sound.
Review 125:It was clean that was it.
Review 126:No bad experience, just alittle too quite, but is out of seasion although it was Valentines Day,and Hotel was very busy..
Review 127:Hotel smart and very clean.Staff always happy to help and always cheerful.Bedroom very cosy and comfortable.
Review 128:Nothing not to like.
Review 129:From check-in to check-out everything went smoothly - friendly welcome. The Savoy is a centrally located hotel. Very clean, comfy room, breakfast excellent - staff could not be more helpful. For just £3 we parked our car off road at back of the hotel (must be pre-booked) so no worries about finding a car parking space. This was our first visit to the Savoy and we have booked to go back. Thank you or an excellent stay.
Review 130:Nothing!
Review 131:We stayed at the end of January 2015 and couldn't have been more impressed. Friendly, helpful staff, a spotlessly clean and comfy bedroom - and we had a balcony overlooking the seafront for no extra charge! We will definitely be returning when we are in the area. Despite the time of year there was plenty to do and see. Lovely place, lovely people, thank you!!
Review 132:More tea bags in room please.
Review 133:Lovely comfortable room and bed. Nice friendly staff. Lovely seaside hotel served to the table with toast in a toast rack. Parking undercover at £3 per night (meaning the car wasn't frozen up in the morning.
Review 134:There was nothing I didn't like. Maybe a bigger shower would have been nice but they had made the best of the space available.
Review 135:I booked the hotel at 7 O'clock for arrival at 9 and the man on receptin put the heating on in the room ready. He was very friendly and welcoming. In fact all staff were. It was very clean and the room was lovely. Even a nice sea view. I personally think it is worth more than the 2 stars it has!
Review 136:Radiators in bedroom not very hot on 5 setting. Had to go out for entertainment due to low number of guests.
Review 137:Lounge comfort, decor smart. Dined on Saturday evening, service fine and food good.
Review 138:on a busy road so noisey at night so use ear plugs!
Review 139:hotel is very clean with nice décor and the breakfast and evening meal is excellent very friendly happy staff
