Reviews for City Résidence Bordeaux Centre
Review 1:Location really isn't central at all (which the name implies). The book in website says there is a laundry room, but the reception person told us there wasn't anything, and then couldn't really tell us where a laundromat was.
Review 2:Clean and comfortable
Review 3:It was fine for a budget hotel. Bed v comfortable. Appart'hotel idea. Didn't eat at the hotel. Lift was external and wet due to the rain.
Review 4:Location to tram
Review 5:Several of the lights didn't work and the bed was smaller than by American standards.
Review 6:It was close to the tram, a laundry and a small grocery store as well as the promenade along the Garonne.
Review 7:Really bad organization. Staff is not communicating with each other, changes of the booking, which were made weeks before the stay, weren't communicated. There were other people checked into a colleagues room even though he didn't check out and hhis luggage was still in the room (there was a mistake in the booking, which weren't communicated between different staff members...) - unbelievable!
Review 8:Good location
Review 9:The room was ok, would have been better if the tv worked, the extraction fan wasn't on 24/7 and if there was more than half a roll of toilet paper for the three nights.
Review 10:The bus stop is pretty close an the city is about a 10 min walk
Review 11:Penalties incurred if you didn't take out rubbish on last day;no fresh towels provided unless you paid for them; location not suitable for walking around after dark; felt unsafe.
Review 12:The apartment itself was clean.
Review 13:The room had a second floor, i travelled with my parents, and they had to sleep in the ground floor, on the sofa. No good for older people. The room was also very noisy and nobody seemed to care
Review 14:I was very disappointed in the room as it looked nothing like what was in the photos on line! The curtains were missing hooks & hanging off the rod & the room was cold and very basic! Staff were not very helpful & appeared annoyed when we asked for help with Internet, which didn't work at all well! We ended up leaving 1/2 hrs after arriving!
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:because of the useless bookings .com booking page I could not add 2 more nights to my accommodation. I was only informed of this AFTER my credit card details were taken. The hotel took my money immediately from my account. When I arrived at the hotel I explained the situation. The manager just shrugged her shoulders, then made me pay tax as well on both rooms I had. Very disappointing. I will never use bookings again. I will tell everyone I know as well.
Review 17:We requested for towels to be changed on the second day but they didn't... The was no tea, coffee and milk in room... Reception was unattended on Sunday when we arrived. . We did not have a network coverage. ... There should be a free phone mounted outside for contacting reception outside their business hours
Review 18:Location...Very close to major tourist attractions Room was very spacious...
Review 19:on the head board of the bed was a thick black cable wire for the lamp,it was very dangerous with a baby. the view was of a car park and had ash were someone had smoked.
Review 20:good location as you are not to far for the center. bed was comfortable
Review 21:TV is not able to watched from the bed, Only 1 TV channel.
Review 22:A large room and a lovely large bath, it was nice to have a small kitchen. It's great that there was a lift
Review 23:Accomodation is very basic but adequate for a short stay.
Review 24:Good quiet location in Chartron District. 5 minutes walk to Riverside and Tram stop for city centre and beyond. Lots of good bars and restaurants a short walk away.
Review 25:Bed in room 221 was up against the wall at the side so no access to it except by climbing over. The immediate area and outlook was disappointing.
Review 26:Helpful staff, quiet area close to centre and tramline.
Review 27:Sunday reception hours, which meant I relied on the kindness of another guest to access my key as we didn't arrive until after 7 p.m.
Review 28:Good location, not too far from the centre of the city and very close to the river and the city's impressive skate park (which pleased my two sons).
Review 29:They made it so complicated to use the wifi, and once you registered you can only get on once. Don't believe the every 4 hour re-register, as it doesn't work!
Review 30:Kitchen
Review 31:We arrived late when the reception was closed and the card to enter the room was not working. We lost more than an hour to enter the room, but the hotel compensate us. The rooms are very nice, so if you are planning to arrive during the opening hours of the reception there is no problem
Review 32:The room, price and the location of the hotel is good
Review 33:The room was not cleaned during 6 days stay. It'd better be done at least once. No great view from the room because there are only 3 floors and many residences are around. But it was generally quite good appartment for long stay! Thanks..
Review 34:Good points : location near the dock where has nice cruises, near restaurants and tramways. It has microwave, air conditioner.
Review 35:very slow internet. otherwise no complaints.
Review 36:got a great deal, good value for the money. cool artist area, beautiful architecture. nice walk along the garonne to get to the historical city center. access to trams if you don't like to walk. amazing city!
Review 37:Our room had almost no toilet paper left, so we ran out after my partnerblew his nose. This was on a Sunday afternoon, so there was no one inthe staff available to help. We had no extra towels (which weresupposedly under the bathroom sink), we found the lady at the receptionvery rude and curt with us when I asked at check out why the price wasabove that seen on the website. Note to all: you will have to bring downyour garbage with you when you leave.
Review 38:Comfortable bed, good-size rooms, good value for money
Review 39:I don't understand why one giant blanket on the bed is better than two normal blankets. That's sucked. When we asked for a TV remote they said we will get one but we didn't. And there was no laundry at the hotel, but they said they have one on the website.
Review 40:It was a quite spacey room and it was very clean. The bed was big and there was a good bathtub.
Review 41:It would be great if the internet was faster.
Review 42:The hotel is situated near the city centre. Price correspnds to its quality. The stuff is friendly and helpful.
Review 43:The bathroom was a bit mouldy. The hotel is not located in the center so we had to walk 15min to get to where the curiosities are.
Review 44:It was a very big room with a comfortable bed.
Review 45:No air conditioning When sofa bed out you couldn't get to kitchen area Mosquitoes bad here Staff glum Like student halls
Review 46:Price Location is good Breakfast OK
Review 47:The room was quite hot and didn't have good air circulation. Our pillows were stained.
Review 48:The value of the hotel was good, and we were able to find free parking nearby. It was a bit of a walk to downtown, but the tram is close by.
Review 49:Excellent car parking facilities in a big city and good lift for those that need one. 800 metres from the river and a short 15 minute walk to the old part of town and the restaurants
Review 50:It's the most bad hotel in my life. They every day did checkout of my room and did check in at 15h.every day ....one of my room didn't work condition , whan out side was +40+44.also staf there not so friendlyits imposible to enjoing trip in Bordeaux.
Review 51:Hotel parking close after 10:00pm and not easy to find parking for big cars. Street very narrow with many cars parking along the road. Has to drive very carefully and a bit difficult for big car.
Review 52:close to river side and tram station
Review 53:There was very little crockery in the small kitchenette. One mug between 2 people, 2 glasses & 1 was chipped so could not use it. No dishcloth to dry the dishes used. Need to provide more towels as only 2 bath & 1 hand towel provided for a 3 night stay.
Review 54:The car park was convenient
Review 55:We had to vacate the place by 11.00 a.m. which we felt bit early as we had come in quite. Would have been better if it was 12.00 p.m.
Review 56:Although we reached very late night, we could contact the receptionist to provide access to our accommodation by phone. Very friendly staff.
Review 57:some staff weren't particularly friendly.
Review 58:comfortable room with apt kitchenette, good location, 2-3 walk from tram in centre (5 minute journey), lively waterfront with bars and restaurants.
Review 59:Seemed a little scary to get to the hotel from the tram stop. reception is closed from 12-3 on saturdays. we did not have a place to keep our bags when we arrived. wifi is slow in the rooms.
Review 60:Good hotel with standard facilities
Review 61:Because it was a bank holiday, there was no-one on reception. We waited for an hour, before telephoning them, and they gave us the combination to the safe and told us to give people their keys!! You can't check in until after 3pm, so can't access the car park to park and go off while you wait, and there is not much parking around the hotel.
Review 62:It's close to everything (opposite the skateboard park and river). Only a 1.5km walk into the centre itself, but a lovely walk along the river. The centre has some great bars, restaurants, shops etc.
Review 63:If there was someone at the reception, they very unhelpful and not nice at all. Apartment had broken furniture and very oldschool foldable bed - terrible comfort. Non-stop working fan in the room - very disturbing during the night time. No value for price. Never again.
Review 64:Good location, parking. Otherwise terrible.
Review 65:While we arrrived at hotel, there was nobody at the reception. My reservetion couldn't create, so they gave me another one's room. The room was cold, climates didn't operate.
Review 66:No serious problems. Had to chase up duvet cover and the heating was barely adequate for February. Internet access was refused by Firefox as insecure. Little niggles like missing lightbulbs, damaged wallpaper and only two cups.
Review 67:Quiet location, near to river and tramway for access to city centre. Helpful staff. Clean, good hot shower.
Review 68:There was no internet for 4 consecutive days. There were no available rooms til 4 p.m.
Review 69:Staff Was good. Good location and location although the street near the hotel was always obscure during night.
Review 70:We rented two apartments for 4 people each one and our stay was pretty bad. If you do not arrive at the reception hours, even if you have advised, you'll have to wait for someone in front of the door (the telephone number does not work) to get in. In the two rented apartments the heating did not work. We complained to the manager of the hotel and gave us only one tiny electric heater for the two apartments. We spent all our stay (3 days) without heating. In one of the two kitchens, the vitroceramic hobs did not work, the manager of the hotel did not help us. Luckily we had two kitchens. The hotel charged a deposit with the credit card, that you have used to book the apartments. In the information of the booking website, this information does not appear, and the hotel staff did not inform you during the check in. Four days later, after your leaving, if everything is correct they will return the money. The free Wi-Fi is too slow, and you have to register every few hours. The staff is arrogant, rude and unhelpful.
Review 71:The only good thing is the location, very close to downtown, 20 minutes walk or 5-10 minutes by tram.
Review 72:Stuff unavailable way before notified absence hour(21:00). No proper wifi. Wifi available only for 1 user, we were 4. Stuff unpleasant and not helpfull, did not have even a map of the city to offer. We had to through the garbage on the parking lot ourselves, otherwise extra charge!!!
Review 73:The appartment was nice, with kitchenette. Clean bed sheets and bathroom.
Review 74:Everything else. Badly designed, poor in standard on all counts. Noisy residents. Dirty smelly stairwells. Price is twice as high as should be and standard half that of other apartments in same city.
Review 75:Clean and comfortable bed
Review 76:Friendly staff from recepcionist to the cleaners (even cleaners could speak English) Silent area, good size of room and bed. Really good apartment.
Review 77:Reception desk was unmanned at the time and a phone number was written on the locked front door. However as we did not have a French mobile, we could not ring the number listed and had to wait until another guest came out the front door and offered to ring the listed number, then translate the message to gain access to our room key via the locked safe! It worked eventually, but I would recommend you plan to arrive before the closing off of reception at 6pm
Review 78:Once inside the room was adequate for the price and meant we could walk our suitcases to the boarding dock for the cruiseship so the location was excellent which was why I chose this hotel
Review 79:It's pretty far from the city centre(20 minutes walk) The wifi was so not functioning The reception hours were very specific and we had to wait 2 hours to check in when we got there
Review 80:The bed and the sofa bed were quite comfortable Friendly staff
Review 81:General scruffiness of building and lacklustre facilities. Also two lights were not working; one in the bedroom and the other in the bathroom. When I went ot reception for a new light bulbs they didn't have any. Then the lift stopped working.
Review 82:Ease of parking in a city centre.
Review 83:On arrival at the apartment (1:30pm) we asked the receptionist (MmeJoutel) if we could park our car. The answer was no, not until 3pm. Thecar park was empty. We have stayed in this apartment before at anearlier time than 1:30pm when the staff said O.K. I found this member ofstaff rude and very unhelpful. On the booking form I asked for an extrapillow, no such luck. On my last visit to this apartment I left my ownpillow there, and it has now disappeared. I will not be returning.
Review 84:The location is good, only two tram stops from from the city centre.
Review 85:Place felt too much like a student dormitory for 70 euros/night. Also, the hotel needs to figure out the corridor door system it has in place, if your room is unlucky enough to be close to one of these doors, you will definitely hear everyone that passes through at night. Poorly thought out.
Review 86:It's in a good location
Review 87:We had booked a taxi from hotel reception as we were supposed to boarda train early morning.we confirmed with the hotel reception twice abouttaxi.the lady at the reception assured us that the taxi will be ontime.unfortunately the taxi didnt turned up on time , came just 5minutes before the train's departure time, that too when a frenchcouple helped us, as the taxi people were not able to communicate inenglish and there was no one at the reception . We missed our train ,had to spend extra euros for a new ticket as we had a connecting trainfrom paris. This was our worst experience. One advice for hotelreception -plz crosscheck anything twice before u make any commitmentto your hotel guests and if you cannot arrange for something ,straightforwardly say no.
Review 88:* Facilities were quite basic - lacking character after our Paris apartment * The WiFi only worked in the lobby. This was a nuisance, as we were quite a distance from the lobby
Review 89:* Aircon - Bordeaux was very warm * The apartment had everything we needed * Breakfast was good value *Close to the river, with good restaurants
Review 90:I had to change rooms because the first one smelled of cigarette smoke. The telephone wasn't working in the second room I was moved to. When I informed the hotel staff of this, they didn't seem to be bothered about it and didn't offer to move me again. In addition, two lights were not working in the room I stayed in which means it was dark at night. Also the decor was very dated and the room didn't feel clean. The free wi-fi only worked for short periods. As a result, I didn't enjoy my stay but couldn't do much about it because the hotel took the payment from my bank card prior to my stay despite my being told that I would pay when I checking out. I think this is why the hotel staff were not bothered whether I had a good stay or not as they had already been paid.Overall, a very disappointing stay for me and I would not stay at the City Residence in Bordeaux again.
Review 91:I liked the location.
Review 92:the plumbing leaked all over the place! it wasnt anyones fault but the tub leaked all over the hall and kitchen. the carpet on the floor looked like it wasnt the first time it happened but the rest of the building was good. the wifi didnt work in our room but did in the lobby
Review 93:it was a good size, could fit four comfortably and had a good kitchen. we were only two blocks from the water but it was hard to find the first time!
Review 94:Not very nice rooms - very strong cigarette smell. We were charged ten euros per night extra for the parking - which I don't think was mentioned when we booked. Also there snot smeared down the window!
Review 95:The staff were really friendly and the location is pretty good; close to the river and not far to walk to get to the centre of Bordeaux.
Review 96:It would be helpful to have 1. toilet paper refill 2.soap refill 3.clean towels every other day This is relatively inexpensive way to enhance peoples memories,
Review 97:Apart from tiny issue of there being no corkscrew, there wasn't anything to dislike.
Review 98:The location of the apartment was convenient and in an interesting area, close to the river and with easy access to shops and transport. The apartment was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay.
Review 99:Headboard broken which had also smashed the over the bed light, reported first night of three nothing done. Other lights not working which in dark room did not help. Room not serviced. Depressing worst room of our holiday.
Review 100:Not much only the location
Review 101:The room was not clean, I saw insects. The kitchen facilities were not clean enought. Staff was realy crude, I have never experienced smth like that. Breakfast was very poor, and when I asked for ham, which was absent toward the time we came to breakfast, the waiter started to be extremely impollite and even agressive by its tone. When I asked for his name he refused. I certainly do not recomend this hotel to anyone.
Review 102:Lack of signage(enter from Rue Poyennes look for Gym on Right)
Review 103:Large roomy apartment.Helpful Maitre"D.Twenty minute walk to centrealong quay or tram(B Medoc) To view all important sights
Review 104:Lack of reception.Rang hotline no on door and eventually after 20 minutes of recorded message someone gave us the code for the door and password for key. No advice as to how to access parking so parked on the street with bikes on the back of the car. Could not access wifi on either our tablets or phones. Man on desk monday morning seemed disinterested about our concerns..
Review 105:the location, the apartment.
Review 106:The wifi was very slow so a little disappointing. I felt a comfortable chair would have been a nice addition as the room was advertised as a studio apartment.
Review 107:The location of the hotel means that whilst it is situated in a quiet back street, it is only a few hundred metres from the waterfront and all the bustle and activity associated with it. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Also for those wishing to use the catering facilities in the room, a well stocked supermarket (carrefour city) is situated about 800m away. To get into the centre of Bordeaux takes just 10 minutes using the tram. Chartons tram stop is a five minute walk from the hotel. A day pass costs less than 5€ and can be purchased by bank card at any stop so its very convenient. The room was spacious for a studio. We were expecting a sofa bed so were surprised to find comfortable twin beds. The kitchen was adequate for two and the bathroom was very clean with soap and shampoo provided. We felt this hotel which also offered secure car parking was excellent value for money.
Review 108:Wifi is less than good and hard to connect to (you need to create an account every 4 hours), found some mold in the bathroom.
Review 109:Good part of town, newish room, all the kitchen stuff is there, the room is big and gets lots of light.
Review 110:The apartments/studio's entrance is directly from outside, which is not nice. Sometimes noises could be heard from people in the street. Also bathroom was not clean.
Review 111:Poor service - 1 towel for two for a 5 day stay - promised additional ones but took a couple of days to arrive. Same situation for soap an toilet paper and no servicing of the room in a 5 day stay.
Review 112:Location was ok close to river and tram stop - also walking distance to town.
Review 113:Hotel was tatty. Our room was in need of TLC. Squahed insects on the walls, chipped tables and stained carpets. It just looked in need of some TLC to bring it back up to scratch
Review 114:Good staff. Close to the river and tram stop. Neat to an excellent Sunday market and restaurants. Nice walk in to the main town and sites. Good value
Review 115:Only one of the air conditioners worked!!! It was so hot at night, we had to sleep with the windows opened which ment we were all covered in mosquito bites in the morning!!!!!! Very unpleasant.
Review 116:You get what you pay for. Very basic, but once you get your bearings, a great base to travel from. At first we thought it was uni digs and felt a bit unsure, however, its of families and couples staying there. Staff were pleasant and helpful with any queries we had. Would stay again, and would recommend it to others. Would rather have a basic room and more money to play with.
Review 117:Horrible neighbourhood Ugly building We got bedsheets for 2 people even if it was reserved for 4 There was nobody to answer the phone when we wanted to get 2 more sheets We were promised that the manager would get back to us on our complaint - never happened
Review 118:The bed was fairly comfortable
Review 119:The sofa bed looked a bit manky, but was comfortable. We arrived out of hours, but was given a code to get the room key from the safe, along with another family that arrived late, both had different codes, neither codes worked! No staff available. Luckily another person came in that had a working code!
Review 120:Excellent hotel for our 1 night stay, clean and comfortable, plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Double bed upstairs was very comfortable, air conditioned, tv, fridge, microwave and hair dryer supplied!
Review 121:I went into the bathroom and there was yellow pee all over the seat and next to the tiolet. It smelled like a public bathroom. Also the second towel had a damp patch on it, so who knows what that was. Dont stay there, cheap but disgusting
Review 122:Internet, WIFI is real bad. I even paid for better service which was no better than free wifi. I lost money on that.
Review 123:The staff and the premises were good.
Review 124:Toilet did not flush. We put up with it because we were only staying for two nights and were out most of time. When we reported it on departure, the receptionist seemed uninterested.
Review 125:Location was ok.
Review 126:I really had no problem with venue at all.
Review 127:Great price, it was easy enough frind, felt safe walking the streets to and from. very clean, air conditioning. Internet. short distance away from tram.
Review 128:air conditioner didn't work, flush didn't work, internet didn't work, construction in room next door, rude front desk lady.
Review 129:the boss did put us into another room the 2nd night.
Review 130:If you stay for less than 1 week, your room is not cleaned and towels not changed.
Review 131:The location was convenient for trams and for access to city centre.
Review 132:Wifi was advertised BUT actually non existent .....they would have been better to say that. For anyone dependent on it for travel organisation they would be disappointed.
Review 133:Removed quiet location, but still with supermarket, restaurants ,transport options etc. We bought a 2 day city pass which gave us unlimited tram travel and were 400 metres from a stop. That was easy!
Review 134:The location is grim with street people begging for money and drunk or out of their minds on something. Generally the accommodation is sited in a grim area with no outlook from the rooms as the building is enclosed by other other buildings. The room and bathroom was 'tired' with food staining the walls around the kitchen area and dirty marks on the walls elsewhere. We stayed 6 nights and were 'entitled' to one room clean during that period that included a change of towels but not the bedding. The clean did not include vacuum cleaning the floor. All in all very poor and not to be recommended.
Review 135:Not a lot. the accommodation was close to the tram system and various rstaurants
Review 136:Location this place was really difficult to find even 3 local people could not locate it. In the end a local lady phoned the residence for me and they gave her confusing directions to the point where she actually walked nearly 800 meters with me whilst on the phone to them to locate the building which is down a back street off the main drag. The room was very grubby and dark with not enough lights to compensate. Everywhere needed a good clean and there were many spider webs in the ceiling corners. Kitchen was so grubby we did not use it even to make a cup of coffee. The car park was 8 euros a night but was not security protected and on returning a short while after I parked there were youths playing football in the space. Overall one of my worst experiences and I have travelled the world on business and pleasure for the past 40 years.
Review 137:Nice staff spoke English Good double bed Good shower
Review 138:Lack of towels and amenities; we had to go searching for the maid's cart to get towels. Breakfast overpriced. Front desk not staffed on Sunday; information about access codes sent too late. Trash truck arrived at 4 am. No fan in room.
Review 139:Comfortable beds.
