Reviews for The Grand Hotel

Review 1:Nothing to complain about.

Review 2:Every time we stay at the Grand, the! staff are fabulous they can't do enough for you. The rooms are spacious, clean, warm in winter and the breakfast is great.

Review 3:not a bad experience but dining room needs a a few acccesories to give it more atmosphere just a bit souless

Review 4:clean and comfy beds location great staff welcoming and hard working

Review 5:The rooms were clean, the location is good, not too far from the centre. We stayed in November but the room was warm enough. The breakfast was a buffet style where you could have as much or as little as you wanted, very nice it was too.

Review 6:Nothing all was good

Review 7:The hotel location, the welcome we received, the room over looking the Sea and the breakfast, had to stop myself going up a third time it was so lovely

Review 8:We requested a nice view room we got the back yard and the hotel did have other rooms but we didn't want to complain, the bed would move forward everytime we moved worse just sat up watching tv, also bed was uncomfortable, were a couple who are easily pleased which surprised ourselves because were always easie to please but this time was very disappointed :-(

Review 9:The breakfast was very nice which cheered us up lol

Review 10:The location of the Hotel was within easy walking of both the Town and the Beach. Being out of season meant we could park very close and there were no charges. Breakfast was good in both quality and quantity.

Review 11:The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was spotless. The breakfast was very good. All in all my stay was enjoyable and the recommendation of Wolfies for an evening meal, ten out of ten for that one, the mixed grill was spot on, one of the best restaurant meals I have had in a long time. If I am ever in Skegness again I will definitely stay at the Grand again

Review 12:The room was tiny . wasn't worth the money we payed . didn't have a bath either just a tiny shower . and when I asked if they had a better room they said there weren't any clean and ready but there were hardly any guests so didnt think much to it

Review 13:The bed was soo comfy had a good night sleep

Review 14:The hotel manage was not very nice over a room change and tea and coffee as I ran out of there's and was told there will be more put in in the morning . Not happy about that .

Review 15:Clean sheet s

Review 16:said parking on booking Web site. There was only 6 place.(that was only 3 really because 3 cars hung way out on the road blocking the other 3 in) it's the only reason I booked was for off street parking

Review 17:Being on the top floor and the ceiling is too low and I banged my head and a couple of times and the shower didn't work because the pump wasn't working properly but the man sorted it out really quick

Review 18:Pleasant people nice and clean rooms are being on the top floor above my head three times on the ceiling it was too low

Review 19:Excellent location. Loved the buffet breakfast with a choice of fresh fruit salad, Yoghurts, cereals, toast and full English. Free parking was a bonus. Rooms comfortable with toiletries provided. Useful bar very convenient for a night cap!

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:The friendliness and professional attitude of the owners the attitude of staff we were made so welcome a really good break would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a carefree stay lovely beds and food

Review 22:because of the balcony & view, we were on the 3rd(top) floor, the room had low roof beams near the bed & in the bathroom (i am 6ft 4in) so was banging my head. The bed was so uncomfortable i was awake from 5:30 & hurt for 2 days. The breakfast was buffet style, eat as much as you liked but poor quality.

Review 23:the balcony & view were excellent.

Review 24:Room 19 on the top floor. The owners had already apologised in advance for the floor creaking. This ruined our stay, every time you put a foot on the floor it creaked badly. God help the people below! Would never stay in that room again. Car parking! Council want money from 8am so no lie-in any day. £7 a day charge. Not likely we would every go back to Skegness

Review 25:lovely couple.

Review 26:The toilet paper was very cheap and wasn't very good

Review 27:The hotel was clean and comfortable, food was good. Although the lady and gentleman that ran the hotel seemed to be inexperienced.

Review 28:nothing

Review 29:we got a warm welcome and the room was nice and clean, the breakfast was lovley and you cold eat as much as you like,we would stay there again.

Review 30:if i was picky the only fault i found was the bed moved when you sat on it because the flooring was wood penalling which could be a pain at times.

Review 31:The young couple who run this hotel are very helpful pleasant and very accommodating. The hotel has been updated though not ultramodern it was clean well maintained and value for money . having also a prime spot on the sea front.we would definitely go there again.Breakfast was help yourself which we like as we could have as little or as much as we wanted, very nice it was as well.

Review 32:We liked the reassurance that rowdy residents would not be tolerated - and the hotel itself was quiet, with considerate residents. The staff were helpful, but not obtrusive. The breakfast buffet provided lots of options and was substantial and satisfying. Our room had a balcony and overlooked the sea - felt luxurious.

Review 33:I liked the hotel and its location are room had a lovely balcony with a sea veiw made a big difrence hosts was very nice couldn't fault the place .

Review 34:Nothing bad to say.

Review 35:Central location, large clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff and nice breakfast. Enjoyed our stay and will stay with you again.

Review 36:Breakfast between 8-9, an extra half hour until 9:30 would be preferred

Review 37:Couldn't wish for better hosts who are still planning improvements to enhance visitors stays. Excellent breakfast constantly replenishing the food and friendly happy staff. Rooms well equipped and comfortable beds

Review 38:I paid for a balcony , but they failed to state you had to share it with 2 other rooms and there was very limited space .

Review 39:Location,clean,friendly staff

Review 40:Not enough tables for breakfast. Only served for 1 hr. Had to stand n wait for table. No wifi. Bar drinks very expensive. Was welcomed with the owner demanding payment for second night.

Review 41:Location

Review 42:There was a little leak in the bedroom ceiling but the owners explained that in order to fix it they would have to call someone in to take the floor apart and there wasn't much that could be done that day - which is understandable.

Review 43:Every single member of staff is amazing, super friendly and they all make you feel really at home and relaxed. The breakfast is included in the price and there is a wide selection to choose from, very tasty!

Review 44:nothing ..the hotel is brilliant and i will be back

Review 45:everything ,very very friendly ,clean ,welcoming, great breakfast ,great location, great room ..ill give it 10/10

Review 46:Everything ..good position on the front ...lovely owners and staff..clean room ...great breakfast will stay there next year if availableon my dates.. Think they may get booked up quickly

Review 47:Did not like the horrendous noise coming from the boiler, you could not hear yourself think with the racket. Asked one of the owners what it was, he said he did not know, however his wife knew exactly what it was! Did not like the clompy guests above us, cases being dragged, wearing shoes on the laminate flooring clomping on the floor. 2 hours in the evening getting ready walking up and down the room, bang, bang, bang. Was told it would be sorted, but it wasn't, so had to put up with it every evening we were there and every morning as well. We were there friday - monday, the cups and spoons in the room were not changed once.

Review 48:Staff were friendly, room was ok, located at the quieter end of Skegness.

Review 49:Not too happy that we were in the 3rd floor with no lift for our luggage. There was a beam in the middle of the room that my partner had to duck under to get to bed. The shower due to water being on a pump took a while to make it to us then we were informed it had flooded another room. Breakfast was a one hour window from 8-9 who in there holiday mood wants to rush out of bed at that time?

Review 50:Lovely view from the balcony.

Review 51:The owners were more than helpful, couldn't do enough for us,would recommend this hotel highly.Nice and clean only had a two night stay but was good

Review 52:We would of liked to have had a bath and a mirror above the dressing table would be useful. It would also be nice to have two pillows each. Breakfast ran out very quickly as only small amounts were put out at a time so there was a bit a wait for more to come out.

Review 53:The owners are very friendly and helpful and the view from a sea view room was beautiful. Clean and tidy throughout.

Review 54:Felt the wifi kept going down and the breakfast although plenty of it I prefere mine freshly cooked, I don't like my food kept warm,

Review 55:Very welcoming couple, the beds were super comfy, the room with sea view was great, propiators were very accomadating nothing was too much trouble, would go back.

Review 56:Was a fan of the bathroom could do with a refurb shower was falling apart and toilet didn't flush very well. Breakfast was too early for my liking other hotels usually do breakfast 8 till 10

Review 57:The sea view, and the comfort of the bed was good

Review 58:We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel and we would recommend it to everyone. the coup[le you ran the hotel could not have done anymore for us, from our first day until our last they made us very welcome and looked after us. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean. 10 out of 10, would highly recommend and we will be going back.

Review 59:- Small room (not stated when we booked, but were told this on arrival) - Water pressue in shower very low - Small breakfast slot (8-9)

Review 60:great location close to all amusements and bars also parking was really close.

Review 61:Three flights of stairs but a sterna lift if required

Review 62:A modern furnished room and bathroom with patio doors leading onto small balcony with fab sea view

Review 63:The room we had was very small, regardless of whether we had a baby with us or not I think it's quite overpriced for what we had. Bathroom was tiny and on the whole very squashed in! Also breakfast is only 8-9, which is quite early, would've preferred 8-10 in case we wanted a lay in!

Review 64:Liked the location, very close to all the attractions but still quiet! Very helpful with baby pushchair.

Review 65:Great staff that go out their way to offer an excellent stay, lots of very happy repeat customers there when we stayed always a very good sign :-) We would definitely book again !

Review 66:Check out at 10am was a bit sharp on a Sunday but they let us malinger for a while.

Review 67:This was a nice hotel where we were made very welcome. A modern room with a great view. The breakfast was great and the staff really went out of their way to help. No complaints and book room 20 if you want a great view.

Review 68:I liked the position, so near the beach and town. The room I had was spacious , very clean and well equipped. I was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, buffet style and constantly replenished. The staff were polite and friendly.

Review 69:Can't think of anything I didn't like!

Review 70:The owners, Smeta and Andreas were very hospitable, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed. Fresh towels available any time. The lounge and bar was very useful, particularly if the weather turned rough.

Review 71:No white bread only 50/50 or brown and I don't eat either.

Review 72:The Hotel was very clean and the couple that run the hotel were really lovely and helpful. The hotel is in an ideal position not to far from the clock tower and not to far from a bus stop if you are wanting to go into Ingoldmells.

Review 73:On arrival were made to feel as if we had made a last minute booking but we booked November 2014 for our stay on June 6th 2015 Hotel fully booked No parking left ! Breakfast good but just a little too early 8-9am on Sunday Noise kept us awake (very thin walls) !

Review 74:Owners did not mind us all re arranging the lounge so we could all sit & chat & have a drink :-)) Very comfortable bed

Review 75:There was no fried eggs available at breakfast and the tv didn't have all the channels

Review 76:Staff were friendly, location was great, bed was comfy enjoyed our stay.

Review 77:Shower poor and leaking view from the window poor . Friendly staff and a comfortable bed made up for these points . Overall average.

Review 78:Spacious room and comfortable bed

Review 79:we had a bad experience the guests in the room next to ours was playing music loud at night reported it 3 times a slanging match was coming from the room as the family got into a verbal fight and foul language it lasted 2.1/2 hrs and only then the guests were removed 1pm to 3.30 we had no sleep and left the hotel at 3.30 no breakfast and no phone call as promised also waiting for a refund very very unhappy

Review 80:the room would of been good

Review 81:Didn't like the balcony think it needs to be looked at as it was on a slope and didn't feel very safe. Also they're no refrigerators either wasn't a fan of that. Very basic. Shower room tiny.

Review 82:The bed was really comfy a lot of storage space and free wifi

Review 83:The only fault I could find, was the TV, the free view was very poor, and no channel had a good reception. I don't sleep all that well and a working TV is always a bonus.

Review 84:Very clean, bed was super comfortable. Exellent view from the balcony.

Review 85:Absolutely nothing. Lovely stay

Review 86:The owners were brilliant, the hotel was spotless, the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much for these two very hard working friendly people. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Review 87:upon arrival staff very welcoming , upgrade to sea view at no extra charge, room clean and warm, tv shower coffee tea in room . stayed only 1 night (new years eve) had great night . full breakfast next morning included in price. will use again.

Review 88:Both of us were pleased with our stay at the Grand which was made very comfortable by Andreas and Smita, and we hope to go back perhaps in the springtime

Review 89:Poor parking facilities but due to the location of the hotel it is understandable.

Review 90:As my elderly mother was a lone traveller she found the single room beautifully decorated and really a well lit room. As she was on the first floor there was a stair lift which was really helpful to her.

Review 91:no communication when you ring the night time bell for extra tea and coffee and no assistance with anything

Review 92:the breakfast was very good the waitress in the dining room was very pleasant and good at here job

Review 93:Loved the Room 16 balcony. I didn't realise you could ever see the sea in Skeggy. The buffet breakfast was great - and the location couldn't be better. Very handy for the Pier and Natureland. Smita, Andreas & all the staff were all very friendly.

Review 94:On arrival checked in no help with parking and given key to room and had to ask where it was next two days I had made the bed but the towels were never changed and there was no phone in room and did not see any staff only breakfast did not feel welcome at all and will not return morning of departure still no one on desk we felt there was no welcoming from owners .and there was only one chair in double room Mike and Tina solihull

Review 95:Breakfast was very good and the person who worked in the dining room was very helpful and nice top marks to her

Review 96:Overwhelming smell of curry Overwhelming smell of paint in the room Dodging a bulky stair lift down the middle of the stairs 8 till 9 breakfast or you dont get one which we didnt Bar advertised never open Parking Overpriced Two nights no sleep On the whole a terrible stay

Review 97:Not a lot

Review 98:Would have been nice to have been pre warned about the scaffolding covering the front of the hotel.having booked a sea view room.

Review 99:Breakfast was lovely and owners are a lovely couple. The rooms are actually a lot nicer than the photos on web site maybe they should update it .

Review 100:Asalready stated noise from people retuning to their hotels after nightout, however lwill make it clear this as nthing to do with the grand.

Review 101:Found the owner friendly and proffesional.

Review 102:Room very small but adequate for a one-night stay. To be fair, given a chance to upgrade for £10 but not necessary for our needs. No soap in bathroom, unusual in a hotel or B&B. Female receptionist (joint owner?) not very welcoming and didn't even smile or say 'good morning' when we went down for breakfast. Eggs for full English poached not fried, bacon was pale and tasteless - it had obviously not been grilled or fried. Healthy but bland. Coffee stone cold, undrinkable.

Review 103:Spotless room. Nice dining room. Beautifully fresh fruit salad and yoghurt.

Review 104:Hosts couldn't do enough for us, very personal service and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was brilliant all freshly cooked and great fresh fruit salad. Room spotlessly clean. Definitely recommend and would stay again.

Review 105:The baked beans in the morning had a tangy sauce that I just didn't like on my toast, but they probably would have tasted better with sausages and egg.

Review 106:Good little hotel, plenty of suitable furniture in the rooms for unpacking, but not cluttered. Excellent TV reception with built-in DVD. WiFi was easy to access and good quality signal. Comfortable bed, and good breakfast buffet is included.

Review 107:The hotel was being refurbished so there was scaffolding all around .But it didn't really cause any problems . And the Shower wasn't very good very weak and the holder fell down whilst I was in there .But I would definitely use this hotel again .

Review 108:I was pleased with the reception I got on arrival and I loved the cleanliness of the room the size and also it was lovely and warm too .The buffet style breakfast was done to perfection and the waitress Sugar was so lovely . The place is centered in a great place !

Review 109:Double room on the small side and in need of decoration as very dated, shower not very spicy but understand couple who run the hotel are in the process of a refurb and would be happy to return once this has been completed.

Review 110:The location was very handy for the town centre.Food was good. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Review 111:The owners Smita and Andreas were unbelievably friendly and couldn't of welcomed us more, the room and breakfast fantastic and the sea view from the balcony was quite beautiful

Review 112:All good

Review 113:Great location, my mum came to visit staff gave us extra cup coffee and even biscuits for room. 3 of us stayed and we were provided with extra key, Breakfast buffet lovely with plenty of choice. I will be staying here again

Review 114:met at the front door and made welcome , clean and well laid out rooms for the purpose we needed, very understanding staff, very helpful, central . would recommend to anyone and would use again.

Review 115:Not enough parking available ( 6 cars max) which is not the hotels fault, as the buildings are fairly old, and there wasn't much use for parking back in the day.

Review 116:The proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and all the staff smiled. Breakfast was amazing. My room was a single, but perfect for my needs (Room 12)

Review 117:did not realise the grand had new owners, first clue was the change of colours in progress when we arrived. Andreas and Smitta were frendly and welcoming, Andreas breaking off from his painting to carry our case up two flights of stairs for us, after pointing out to me the new addition to the residents lounge, a huge flat screen television, roll on Saturday night. Else where no changes, same comfy beds, good wifi, and great breakfasts.

Review 118:The WiFi network is not very good on the top floor the rest of the hotel was very good

Review 119:We only book for two night not long enough. The young couple that run the Grand are very good and have lots of the time to chat if you want to. The traffic sound in the room was very low.If the weather was a bit better we would have stayed a lot longer

Review 120:Loved the room very clean beautiful views balcony a bonus.Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The owners very welcoming and have good plans for the hotel will definitley be going back .

Review 121:The breakfast because all cooked was in water in chafing dishes. So breakfast hot food had no taste did not eat it . for the price should have been to order.

Review 122:Ok for our needs good room great views

Review 123:I liked my room it was spacious for a single room and a good sized bathroom. The single bed though was too soft for me . Also the almost black coloured duvet was a bit depressing!!

Review 124:Staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was most enjoyable. Bar was very comfortable and decor throughout the hotel was easy on the eye.

Review 125:I would just say that parking isn't the best but there are plenty of side streets and car parks, literally not far from the hotel.

Review 126:Staff were very friendly, gave us all the information needed. Room was clean and beds were very comfy. Very pleased and would happily book to go again.

Review 127:3 flights of stairs to room Could have been more of the Continental style breakfast items, like rolls etc. toast was the only bread type.

Review 128:Great room with seaview Fabulous en-suite Very good English breakfast Close to beach and all amenities

Review 129:Poor & restricted parking. Poor disabled access from parking area. Buffet style breakfast(not very hot).

Review 130:Excellent position. Friendly staff. Room good size & clean.

The Fine Print
