Reviews for La Maison Bord'eaux

Review 1:We only had 1 night, and an early departure so I can't comment on the breakfast but the staff were very and helpful. The hotel was very nice with its own closed courtyard and the room was lovely.

Review 2:Parking is a nightmare. You can book one of the few, very small, hotel parking spaces otherwise the street parking is difficult and costly.

Review 3:The staff were helpful The hotel was clean and a bit quirky in a nice way. The location was good and within walking distance of many restaurants and sites.

Review 4:Above all, no lift on our side of the hotel which meant we had to restrict comings and goings. Room was tired, sink and shower leaked.

Review 5:Quirky charm, good location (shops and cafes), easy and quickbus access to/from centre, spacious room, plenty of room for luggage, very pleasant and helpful staff, good TV

Review 6:The hideous colour schemes throughout the hotel. Badly designed rooms especially storage space.very noisy bedroom. Attention to detail certainly lacking, especially furniture in courtyard. On final day very surly staff on breakfast duty and we had to go and find someone to get extra coffee paying 17 Euros for this inadequate meal a poor show! No one asked if we had enjoyed our stay.

Review 7:Comfortable bed, tv in room, the actual building was lovely and the courtyard could have been an oasis if better, more comfortable furniture had been used. Initially we were warmly welcomed and most of the staff acknowledged us as we passed through reception.

Review 8:Too far from the center of town, street seems run-down, lobby not staffed after 9:00 pm, entrance not well marked

Review 9:Helpful staff, clean, good air conditioning and breakfast

Review 10:The area was poor and staff leave at 9pm - access is then by a key code and people were arriving late - the reception has wine and spirits and computers - there is no security - and it felt unsafe

Review 11:The place was trendy and slick - with a nice courtyard

Review 12:Parking was extremely tight, even by French standards (although we have a large car). Room was also very cramped. We should have booked a larger one which would be well worth the money and would have improved our stay considerably.

Review 13:Nice modern adaptation of older building. Lovely courtyard. Excellent location.

Review 14:First the hotel is very difficult to find. After a search around theblock we ended up infront of an ugly metal gate, which can be used toput trash cans out but definately not as a main entrance of a 4 star (!)hotel. Second the personel has to be definately better trained (or maybeeven partly exchanged). We were let in by a rather grumpy young man witha thick silver chain(!) around his neck. He insisted on talking to us inrapid French although it was very clear that we barely understand him.Why in the 21 century in a major European city a 4 star hotel haspersonnel not speaking a foreingn language is a mystery to me ("MyEnglish not good" is definately not an argument to be used at a 4star level). All in all, very unprofesional! Third, although the househas been nicely reinovated it is clear that it is not properlymaintained. Most of the hooks in the bathroom were basically freelyturning, the door towards tha balcony was very difficult to close, thewooden panel under it had fallen off and was lying on the floor, thesofas at the sitting corner on the ground floor of the hotel had to beexchanged already years ago (were discoloured an rather durty looking),etc, etc, etc. And last but not least, the price of the breakfast is anoutrage for the choice and quality offered. The hotel is definately notworth the money we paid for it and I do not recommend it.

Review 15:An old house that has been nicely reinovated and the room was big but...

Review 16:Too many stairs

Review 17:Our room had a private balcony with beautiful views of the city and ancient ruins. The staff were amazing in providing us advice on where to go, how to get around and made our stay extremely comfortable. Amazing service

Review 18:On a minor point only, a broader selection of fruit at breakfast would be nice.

Review 19:Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Good hotel, well-equipped rooms. Only 15 minute walk from the centre.

Review 20:The location is great but if you are not interested in walking about 10 min to the center I would search for another location.

Review 21:Well done renovation of the building with a modern touch but keeping 'historic' elements.

Review 22:The combination converted heritage house and designer bedroom did not make for comfort, hardly room for suitcases and no surfaces for all the small travel paraphenalia. No chair to sit in and small fridge almost inaccessible.

Review 23:The staff were great and very attentive when I was travel sick. Quiet paved courtyard..

Review 24:Breakfast was not so good, although we were told that breakfast was to 11 am we came down at 9.30 and trays had not been replenished and they were slow to do this when told.

Review 25:Very few negative points, very good location

Review 26:The stairs were not ideal for carrying luggage to the upstairs room. The room was very small. No milk was provided for tea/coffee but we did get some on request. Noisy at night from party goers.

Review 27:Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 28:The only bad experience we lived was during our late check-in, there were no bellboys or staff to help. Our room was on the 2nd floor and we had many luggages. So we had to carry all of them through the stairs.

Review 29:The staff was very helpful and kind, the rooms were clean and spacious. The location is walking distance to the centre.

Review 30:Nicely styled rooms, all different, some with large balcony. Good staff. Location was fine, near public garden and good public transport. breakfast of good quality (yet an extra 14 p.p.).

Review 31:The toilet was about the size of a telephone booth - knees under your chin if over five feet tall.

Review 32:Unusual boutique hotel, very modern, open plan bedroom, in a quiet location, ten minutes walk from the main restaurant and shopping area. Receptionist (Alice) was very welcoming and helpful.

Review 33:Nothing big, but just a few things like the absence of washcloths, dodgy showehead and one tiny rubbish bin onky in the bathroom. The spiral chairs to our room were fine fur us and there is a lift but the stairs would not work for everyone.

Review 34:The staff, particularly Alice and Cecilia. The bed, bath, room, terrace and some nice touches unexpected in a value priced prperty, like wine before dinner, great assistance with bookings for activities, and the cool quirky decor. Great location, comfortable accommodation and excellent service made it a successful stay.

Review 35:We have specifically requested for a twin bed while booking as as it was two friends travelling. The hotel staff didn't have a clue and they didn't arrange for one. They made it up by giving us complementary wine but doesn't help if someone is very finicky. Staff needs to give attention to detail regarding clients requirements.

Review 36:the hotel was in great location, very convenient to go to city center

Review 37:The Hotel, is set back away from the city centre but yet close enough to walk, staff are very helpful and really do go that extra mile to make you feel welcome... I would defienatley return in the future.

Review 38:The snotty receptionist who seemed to think that we had never been in a hotel before, the noise from the street, poor lighting above the sink, broken Venetian blind

Review 39:The bed was comfortable, the location was convenient, separate wc, large shower, silent aircon/heating, parking available (€10 extra), clean enough

Review 40:There's nothing to really dislike about this hotel - just a few tiny points that niggled... bulbs out in the bedroom and bathroom area, a wonky toilet seat, dust on top of the vanity unit, dirty terrace furniture.

Review 41:Staff here are friendly, attentive and condsiderate - a slightly early check in, a pre-dinner glass of wine, a restaurant recommendation - all done with a smile, flair and a minimum of fuss. The location is great and a 10 minute walk from the centre. The decor is stylish and the addition of original works of art throughout gave it a touch of class.

Review 42:Having stayed previously for a week in 2011 with the Bonnet family we were expecting something similar. Now there is no parking of your car in a difficult to get to car park, No in house restaurant dinners and the showers were not hot.

Review 43:Apprehensive with a new team but the excellent service and recommendations from Alice put us at ease. Nothing was to much trouble for her and with her guidance we discovered a few hidden treasures of Bordeaux. Enjoyable breakfast's and conveniently located.

Review 44:We had such limited time. Wish we had stayed longer.

Review 45:The reception and dinner recommendations excellent! The best ever...including the historical significance of its location.

Review 46:The shower didn't have a fixing on the wall so you had to hold it above you. There was also some historic damp issue on the wall in the bedroom that was flaking and hadn't been repainted. Overall quite expensive for what it was.

Review 47:The staff we're really helpful and very friendly.

Review 48:Difficult to identify as hotel from the outside as the plate is very small and not really high on the wall.

Review 49:The reception was very friendly. The rooms are not to large as it is an ancient town house. The breakfast in the inner garden is a great moment. The location is a 10 minute walk away from the centre, but you are in a quite area!

Review 50:The breakfast buffet did not have a great selection. The dining room and living room are kind of dark. Also I did not feel safe because of some agressive homeless people leaving nearby the hotel and insulting us and even following us one night walking back to the hotel.

Review 51:The room was big and comfortable also quiet. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Review 52:Not one thing :)

Review 53:The staff! Alice was so helpful and Cecilia corresponded with me ahead of time to make sure we had all the information for wine tours and restaurants. They had a yummy breakfast for us each morning set out by a very nice young man. Everyone that works there just makes your stay that much more comfortable. We could walk easily from the hotel to wherever we wanted to go and the private parking garage was a plus. I highly recommend this as a destination. Oh - and in honor of our 25th Wedding Anniversary, they had a bottle of wine chilled and ready upon our arrival. What can I say? This was a special hotel for us.

Review 54:Nothing

Review 55:This is a boutique hotel and the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. The staff were wonderful, the rooms spacious and spotless. We have recommended La Maison Bord'eaux to all our friends.

Review 56:The hotel share with the Monaco consul so was very difficult to find. After 9pm no hotel staff so if you don't remember access code - can't get in. No bar to use. When returning after 9pm to hotel, no staff around did not feel very secure .

Review 57:Nice modern room Nice staff

Review 58:Lighting in rooms poor, lack of privacy (Overlooking courtyard with only option to fully close blinds) and some minor faults to rooms unrepaired (one blind mechanism broken and wooden surrounds to sink worn).

Review 59:Excellent location, 10 minute walk from centre, quirky hotel in a quiet location

Review 60:Nothing!

Review 61:We were a group of friends and fell in love with the hotel first and then Bordeaux. The staff were wonderful and the hotel, which has 14 very individually decorated rooms, is the lovliest boutique hotel ever.

Review 62:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 63:Beautiful hotel. Nice bedrooms. Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff

Review 64:Room om the 3rd floor (no lift) very overpriced breakfast, hotel a bit pricey for accommodation only.

Review 65:Classic French hotel with character

Review 66:Our room was spacious, comfortable, and quite. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 67:room basic and tired and airless we expected more for the price

Review 68:staff very friendly

Review 69:Hip decor and nice bathroom products

Review 70:Parking is very difficult.

Review 71:City center is a ten minute walk.

Review 72:We lost our luggage on the trip there, they went over and beyond in helping with phone calls, translating etc

Review 73:breakfast 16 Euro per person, a bit expensive

Review 74:cute little hotel, very friendly staff

Review 75:Parking poor. No lift to the 3floor. Breakfast not much choice. Hand held shower, not the best.

Review 76:No a lot

Review 77:Nothing.

Review 78:Staff could not have been more helpful.

Review 79:Garage was booked, only a Fiat 500 could get in. We hat to park the car 3 km far away from the hotel.

Review 80:Breakfast pretty basic

Review 81:Location good, staff young and pleasant, architecture and design lovely

Review 82:Difficult to find and best not to take a car

Review 83:It was peaceful and had a lovely secluded courtyard

Review 84:A 10-15 minute walk into old town. No tea or coffee facilities. Breakfast only average.

Review 85:Large rooms, clean and charming with lovely garden

Review 86:A beautiful hotel on a quiet street in Bordeaux. A lovely court yard where you can enjoy breakfast.

Review 87:Breakfast should have been included given the cost of the room per night

Review 88:Great location

Review 89:No stand-up shower, 63 stairs to my room, breakfast too early for business guests, dangerous ceiling head whacker in room 6

Review 90:Quiet, pleasant ambiance

Review 91:Lots of street noise. Truly one of the smallest rooms of our month in France

Review 92:Location is good as is staff

Review 93:The hotel was very noisy due to the lack of sound proofing.

Review 94:The hotel was lovely and the room was a good size.

Review 95:Traffic , creaky noise from floor boards above.

Review 96:Room away from busy traffic. A bath ( my fault for not saying sooner) Better refreshments in room

Review 97:Room + bathroom were small. No safe + no miror in room

Review 98:Excellent staff, very helpfull

Review 99:The position was perfect the experience Bordeaux. The building was great and fit the city well.

Review 100:The weather ;)

Review 101:Location and the room were perfect. Staff were super friendly also.

Review 102:There's no elevator

Review 103:Best place, best staff, awesome interiors. They even advised us their own parking place. Surely will visit it second time!

Review 104:nothing

Review 105:Excellent customer focused service

Review 106:Nothing really

Review 107:Location Clean Room size Port in the evening

Review 108:Room was a bit on the small side, but fine for a weekend brak

Review 109:Staff were very helpful and friendly, stairs and the grounds were very nice

Review 110:The staff were lovely. Very friendly and helpful. Lovely hotel with a very relaxed feel and lots of character. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 111:Roos at front of house are noisy with traffic during the day and passing local revellers late at night. Earplugs on the bedside tables told the story.

Review 112:The contemporary art on the walls, really interesting pieces. The shower was lovely, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast really good. The staff was fabulous, helpful, and spoke very good english.

Review 113:The breakfast could be better - subpar choice of offerings, "cappuccino" made from powder. No elevator, so if you have heavy bags, it's a pain (in all fairness, the hotel staff helped, but I just felt so incredibly guilty asking girls to carry big suitcase)

Review 114:Lovely place, friendly staff, beautiful peaceful garden, close to everything

Review 115:The breakfast was OK but rather expensive for what it was. Parking was difficult and again somewhat expensive.

Review 116:Located in a quiet area and within easy walking distance of central Bordeaux. The staff were exceptionally kind, attentive and helpful.

Review 117:Poor breakfast: 18€ for bread, jam and croissant. Inedible scrambled eggs. Most importantly, a dreary, depressing breakfast room where you did not wish to linger. There was a beautiful courtyard which would have made a lovely space to eat.

Review 118:Location, atmosphere, friendly and very helpful staff.

Review 119:Too far from services, really far from train station, and a 10 minute walk to catch local tram...not located in a very good part of town as far as a tourist is concerned

Review 120:Nice, secure, location, nice people, very helpful, good size room, comfortable bed

Review 121:Room was decent size but awkwardly shaped. Hotel was sort of out of the way, there are better locations for Bordeaux. Some of the staff was very nice, some not so much towards us. When we had to leave, no one was there to check us out. It's not a bad place, but probably our least favorite in the 7 cities we visited.

Review 122:Building has character. We were well received at check in.

Review 123:The shower wand was not mounted which made it difficult to wash my hair and to avoid spraying water all over the bathroom.

Review 124:We had a superior room that was very spacious and included a huge balcony with a great view. The property has a very nice outdoor courtyard.

Review 125:there is no big mirror in the room, it is hard to make-up for girls at morning .

Review 126:the staff are friendly and recommend traditional restaurants and wines. there is free map on the reception. Room is clean and comfortable.

Review 127:A little bit pricey when you take into account that the room was tiny, there is no lift and the parking lot is a little bit far away (and pricey too!)

Review 128:The location was good. The breakfast was OK, the staff very helpful, the place was neat.

Review 129:There is no elevator in the building in which we stayed, so either request a ground floor room or be prepared to lug your bags up a narrow staircase.

Review 130:The staff here is excellent, incredibly friendly and helpful. They gave excellent restaurant recommendations and even went out of their way to make reservations for a later leg of our trip, very accommodating. The room was huge by European standards and very comfortable. The price was very reasonable for a higher-end hotel. Cozy and quiet location, just a 10 minute walk to restaurants, the city train system parks. Lovely courtyard, library and lobby.

Review 131:Some of the staff weren't greate. Cecile particularly was very unhelpful on a number of ocasions, even borderline rude... the others were great however.

Review 132:Beautiful decor - tastefully done. Lots of character. Spaciouse rooms.

Review 133:Excellent service. Emmanuel helped us to book restaurants and to tell us about Bordeaux. Great service!!!! I asked for a room with a great view. The room that I have received was big with different vies on Bordeaux.
