Reviews for Hussar Inn
Review 1:Really cold draught coming from the window. Bed was quite hard Hot water ran out after my shower so my partners was cold.
Review 2:Good size room with big bathroom. Friendly staff on arrival and good location for where we needed to be.
Review 3:Received a warm welcome from the young lady (whose name I forget) behind the bar, checked in and was shown to my room. The room was clean and warm, I ate in the restaurant and again the service from the staff was excellent
Review 4:I had an enjoyable stay and staff were very welcoming & while the bed was comfortable it would benefit from a foam or padded topper. Breakfast could be served until 10 am on w/ends (rather than 9.30).Satellite TV signal was patchy & radiator wasn't working but staff said they would sort it ASAP for next guest (as I was only there a short time) This is a hotel above a pub so bear that in mind - loud music on Fridays/ w/end so either join in the fun in the pub or stay out until midnight!
Review 5:Friendly staff , about 20 mins to walk into the old town.
Review 6:I liked the pub atmosphere..... but others may find it a bit much
Review 7:Very friendly staff Great Breakfast Good atmosphere Easy walk to the Pleasure Park
Review 8:The hotel is right next to a busy main road. There was no sign of the free Wi-Fi (apparently they were aware of a problem) and the TV reception was awful. I wouldn't have minded all of this but at £110 for one night, I expected better.
Review 9:The family room we had was spacious and had three beds rather than the usual two you get in family room. The staff were nice and they do a decent breakfast.
Review 10:A little overpriced at £80, I've stayed at much better for less! Pretty loud music from the pub below, TV had very poor reception
Review 11:Great friendly staff, Room clean but a little tired
Review 12:Quite dated Bar, although we didn't use the facilities due to a wedding taking place. Breakfast timings were a little early for us so we missed out
Review 13:The Family room was large with a separate bathroom and toilet, toiletries and hairdryer & towels provided. Very comfortable. Although a wedding was taking place downstairs in the bar area it was very quiet in the room.
Review 14:Room noisy, music from pub below. Winding stairs unsuitable for less mobile. Stairs dirty and not hoovered. Pub old and tatty. Tiger Bills more like a cafe with sticky wooden tables. No continental breakfast or de-caf drinks but that's just my taste. Although the room was nice I wouldn't return.
Review 15:Clean modern refurbished comfy room. Lots of hot water. Food in Tiger Bills excellent and good value for money. Staff very good, helpful and friendly
Review 16:The hotel is right on the main road so there was always road noise. Street light shone in through window all night.
Review 17:Friendly and relaxed. Room had everything for a short stay. Easy access from the main road. Food was excellent.
Review 18:Wifi can be a bit patchy, but lets face it that's not why we stayed here so can't really grumble.
Review 19:Great reception from the staff, lovely room, just a really nice place.
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:Plenty of space for three adults sharing family room. Comfortable beds. Convenient location. Down to earth place. Very good value for money.
Review 22:Not a bad experience, but we had to free the tucked-in bedding to make the manoeuverability of the bedclothes a comfortable experience.
Review 23:Ease of parking, and the ability to get straight out into active traffic. On the main road into and away from Margate.
Review 24:The room was very clean and spacious, lovely friendly staff and the bar had a friendly atmosphere. Very close to bus routes. It was a nice 10/15 min walk to the beach.
Review 25:t/v to small if on the bed to view it was too far away to see any de tail
Review 26:everything was what you would expect nothing to writhe home about bus stops near by
Review 27:As a young family, we did feel a little uncomfortable walking through a busy pub to check-in and find a staff member. The owner seemed nice but pre-occupied as he seemed to be multi-tasking a pub, a restaurant and the B&B, so lacked a little personal approach as he simply didn't have the time. He did show us to the room and told us about how to travel into Margate, which we greatly appreciated and we were able to leave our car there, so he was being helpful. We had dinner there and sadly one order got missed off, so we had to wait for that, especially as it was for one of our children. The following morning, we went and had breakfast, again the owner was very busy and seemed to be working alone. Unfortunately he had missed off one of our child's order again, and so settled for the cereal provided and just toast as opposed to the full breakfast as described. Sadly the breakfast it self was very small and disappointing. The b&b has great potential especially if it had more members of staff and therefore a little more attention to holiday makers.
Review 28:The Family Room was very spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the comforts it provided such as space to relax as well as children to play, a lovely en suite and separate toilet. And it was nice and bright. We did all walk in a say 'wow'!
Review 29:I always run out of coffee, but it's topped up daily, and i've no doubt if i'd asked for more i'd have been given some!
Review 30:My 3rd stay at The Hussar, always enjoyable.Everything i needed here, bed, shower, kettle, food, booze (nice pub).I like the location, although it's not central, the nicest walks and quieter beaches are a few mins walk away.If you like it busier, head towards town along the front. There's no fridge in the room,BUT i got back to my room and an ice bucket had been left for me with my milk in :D
Review 31:Since the Hussar Inn is located right at the A 28, it is a bit too loud to leave the windows open during the night.
Review 32:Both Renny and Elaine were lovely and very welcoming. The room was spacious, the breakfast very good. Food choices from restaurant also very good.
Review 33:A lot of noise from the pub on Saturday night (my room, room 4 was immediately above the bar so other rooms may have been better).
Review 34:Spotlessly clean spacious room. Excellent value for money. Freindly staff. Nothing too much trouble even when I wanted breakfast an hour earlier than usual on the Monday morning.
Review 35:Extremely poor WiFi connection in family room 1, almost none. Hot water for shower stops at 22:30, making me awkward with face mask on and having to finish with cold water. My most terrible experience ever in a hotel.
Review 36:Spacious and clean room.
Review 37:Noise level was unacceptable from music in bar. You couldnt hear tv or have a rest early evening before going out.was like being in a disco. Breakfast was ok. But no coffee pot. Choice was limited.
Review 38:Not far from town. As we had scooters they kindly let us use there secure yard. Rooms were very clean.Management and staff friendly.
Review 39:On arrival the bathroom was unclean, in particular the toilet but on mentioning it to staff it was taken care of immediately.
Review 40:Convenient location, friendly staff, comfortable room and good breakfast all for reasonable cost
Review 41:Wasn't told that there would be a party in my room noise was unbearable, there is pub below the rooms not a place to stay if your looking for a relaxing weekend or have kids
Review 42:Breakfast was good
Review 43:I am in disbelief that the Hotel charging £80 (for two BB)was a pub ,not a hotel and not designed to be such ,I am surprised that they have a fire certificate, the noise from the road was horendous, there was a air vent Machine that kicked in every 20 minutes of the night,,like the sound of a lorry starting up,therefore we had virtually no sleep, bearing in mind we had a 3 hour motorway journey the next morning.would I go again,?never, conclusion I'd like my money back, looking like a business due to fail.
Review 44:nothing
Review 45:The noise level as there was a live band until 11:00 pm , and the rooms are just above the pub. It's advertised as a hotel not a pub
Review 46:Room was clean, staff friendly and breakfast was okay
Review 47:Dried my face with hotel towel which smelt heavily of mildew. The staff were apologetic and had replaced the towels by the time I returned to go to bed. However the new towels were barely better. After my morning shower I had to dry myself with a tshirt! The bed was pretty bad. I could feel the springs pressing into my hip and shoulders. I wouldn't stay there again as I have no confidence that they appreciate the issue with the way they dry their towels given they replaced like with like.
Review 48:The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was adequate.
Review 49:the noise from the road a constant 22 hours a day the noise from the pubs reception party on first night inconsiderate live band next night very very inconsiderate
Review 50:Hosts ok room clean breakfast one of everything all would have been nice without noise
Review 51:The road noise at some times of day could put some off in some rooms, but after 2300 it's fine.
Review 52:Friendly staff and locals Lovely breakfast - great start to the day Good price Comfy room and good night's sleep
Review 53:rusty radiators and bins no handtowels dirty sink very cheap and tacky bathroom floor corridor was outdated and smelt
Review 54:very comfy beds Very nice, family feel Large bath The pub below was very nice bedroom was overall very comforting
Review 55:If you`re looking for a quite break, then I wouldn`t go there. Very loud evenings, until about midnight. Breakfast, nothing special. But for the price I quess it was ok !......
Review 56:Room was very clean. Barman, was a nice friendly guy.
Review 57:Intermittent Wi-Fi Rooms could have been cleaned slightly better and vacuumed
Review 58:Bright light modern room Very comfortable bed A desk with lots of sockets to plug in phone & computer charges Very close to local amenties
Review 59:The room was great and the breakfast was wonderful! You can eat take-away food in the pub if you like and go on have a bear afterwards! Just a great place to be.
Review 60:Nothing. You are above a pub though, so if you have a problem with noise until 11 (or I think midnight at the weekends) then it might not be for you. Such things don't bother me, though. The hosts are very amenable, so if anything is missing or not to your liking, I would be very confident that where possible/reasonable they would fix it for you!
Review 61:Good, friendly hosts, comfortable bed, excellent wifi, great breakfast, good-sized bathroom
Review 62:Parking is limited !!! Was informed the pub closes at 12pm, which we thought was reasonable, and thought the noise would calm down by 1am (no chance). The premises is extremely noisey considering there are guests staying upstairs. The music, and loudness of punters was still in full flow between 3am / 4am If your looking to stay somewhere peaceful, I would not recommend this hotel. There is no consideration to guests staying within this hotel.
Review 63:The staff are very friendly and helpful. No food served within the evening, but there are take aways to choice from, you also have the choice to take the food back to the hotel to eat within the restaurant area :)) Breakfast was nice, good selection to choose from.
Review 64:Being kept awake by loud music and very loud voices that went on until the very early hours of the morning which oblivously meant we did not have a good night sleep due to this. I am aware that it is a pub and noise is to be expected but this was like having a lock in until 3/4 in the morning with no regards to the PAYING GUESTS in rooms above. The lady that booked us in did say they were having a beer festival, which they do every year would be finished by midnight!! Room 4 was lovely but on reflection£80 was a bit excessive for a twin room.
Review 65:All of the above
Review 66:Cannot think of anything!
Review 67:Staff were very friendly. Was out most of the time so didn't use the bar facilities, however, the Breakfast was good and plentiful.
Review 68:I don't know if this was a thing with booking.com of with the hotel, but I was charged £15 for a child's bed that in reality was not needed, as the room had three beds already. The Hotel seemed to be expecting 4 people so had set up the sofa bed as well. No reduction was offered.
Review 69:There was some sort of party on the first evening which disrupted my ability to enjoy my tv viewing and the first hours of my sleep
Review 70:Accommodation was clean and comfortable. The room was about right for the price charged. Breakfast was delivered quickly and efficiently by a very helpful staff member
Review 71:The bed was too soft
Review 72:It was very convenient to get to the beaches. Separate entrance to the hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean room/bathroom.
Review 73:- Location a bit away from the city centre - Breakfast not the best; I would have preferred a buffet - but OK for the price
Review 74:- Very nice staff - Room was very clean - The price tag was spot on - Option for bringing take-away food and eat in the pub of the hotel, which is quite nice
Review 75:No evening meals but they provide crockery and cutlery in the dining room for you to bring in takeaway food. brilliant.
Review 76:the owners and their staff couldn't do enough to help and to make us welcome. the room (5) was large, clean, well furnished and very comfortable. breakfast was excellent quality and plentiful.
Review 77:Nothing to say really as compared to many places we have been.value for money a quiet place to relax.
Review 78:Breakfast was nice. We were able to go to Broadstairs within a few minutes.l could not get family commadation at the price we could afford.child friendly and lots of space for children to play.Very honest and reliable staff.lost my car key and they had found it for me you made my day.The pizza was very tasty.
Review 79:We loved our stay at the Hussar Inn, it really was the best part of the holiday, perfect for me, my son and 4 year-old grandson. He loved the garden and playground, we all loved the breakfast. The rooms were really well-appointed and comfortable, nicer decor in fact than many other 4* hotels. Best thing about it though were the staff: really welcoming and friendly.Thank you for a lovely holiday.
Review 80:having to go down stairs for a smoke i am not very good at walking and use a stick so i found this hard and very painful
Review 81:the staff were very nice and welcomed us, the room was clean and comfy, coffee and tea in the room was a very nice touch, the garden was lovely with a play area for the little ones, he food was well cooked
Review 82:From the moment we walked into the bar area to book in we were made to feel welcome, not only by the excellent staff but the friendly locals. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, we were facing the main road, but unlike a previous review did not feel the noise levels were bad at all. We had a good nights sleep. The breakfast room "Oscars" was clean and well stocked, and the breakfast was fantastic. The staff were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Yea it is situated slightly outside of Margate but its a pleasant walk in and we knew that when we booked it. The wifi may be a bit slow but who cares you're on holiday is that really an issue, and anyway they have a lovely dog to keep you occupied! We would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. Thank you for a lovely stay Charlotte and the staff.
Review 83:The only minor issue was the wifi connection was poor and the rooms do not have a mini bar or at least a small fridge
Review 84:The room we stayed in was perfect for a family, large and clean, the locations was good, free parking and wifi, lovely breakfast and perfect service
Review 85:1. Breakfast did not start until 8.00am a bit late for me getting to work commencing at 9.00am in an unfamiliar area. 2. Air-conditioning noise in bathroom lasted for about 15 minutes......it seemed to be a very long time although, positively, it was not excessively noisy.
Review 86:1. Up-graded from single room to double room for the original price. 2. Very pleasant room which was quiet with double-glazing window closed although on a main road. 3.Kind, helpful staff. 4.Near a petrol station with M&S shop.
Review 87:The mattress from the sofa bed was a bit thin, which was OK for a child but may be uncomfortable for an adult. The wifi was weak in the room, much better in the pub
Review 88:Very friendly staff, big ensuite family room, plenty of towels, good choice of breakfasts. The pub was very pleasant too.
Review 89:The bar area is looking very tired , and needs new carpets . The area that serves the breakfast chairs need replacing , as they are cracked . We were asked to pay for our room on arrival before we saw the room . The staircase carpet needs replacing or at least cleaning . Not happy at all with our stay . Over priced for the service provided . We certainly will not be back .
Review 90:The only part of our stay was the bathroom , that was spacious and reasonably clean and well fitted .
Review 91:Noise until late.
Review 92:Staff were polite, and the food was good.
Review 93:N/A

Review 95:Very friendly, comfortable bed

Review 98:The room was up some narrow windy stairs.
Review 99:Parking is a little limited.
Review 100:A clean, smart hotel. The staff welcoming and very friendly.
Review 101:unfortunately the boiler packed up as we arrived so we had no heating or hot water. landlady did her best but it was a bit grim. not her fault.
Review 102:staff
Review 103:loud music coming from downstairs, quite uncomfortable bed.
Review 104:we were only there for a night, so can't really say what there was to like.
Review 105:Great staff - friendly and efficient. Great parking too, very nice and easy.
Review 106:The only thing I can fault is how low the bed is.
Review 107:It was above a pub and noisy- didnt realise this when booked
Review 108:price
Review 109:Friendly clean and comfortable.
Review 110:full monty breakfast was quite small- mushrooms were thinly sliced , sausage was tiny and no beans!
Review 111:Location was great- close to the beach
Review 112:half hour walk to centre or 5 mins from bus stop outside hotel, family day card £4.20
Review 113:Really nice room, very spacious and clean. Breakfast was lovely and staff were great.
