Reviews for Chateau Du Four De Vaux

Review 1:Extremely friendly and obliging the Host prepared us a beautiful platter,Champagne and prepared the sauna and spa for our private use the breakfast was excellent also Lovely stay

Review 2:Oh, only little things: TV remote didn't work, someone's electronic alarm clock rang on and off for about 30 minutes in an adjacent room, smokers on the porch fumigate your bedroom if the window is open, that sort of thing.

Review 3:The ambiance of this chateau and its park were very special, very nice breakfast and a wonderful sauna and jacuzzi. Of course, the outdoor pool is closed now, but there is one!

Review 4:The chateau was completely remodeled and elegant. Beautiful grounds with lovely pool that I wish we could have taken more adavantage! Wonderful staff with excellent dinner recommendations. Great bed and spacious room. Included breakfast was fantastic.

Review 5:The shower could do with a little holder for the soap. This is very minor

Review 6:Lovely old building and very friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent room and very comfortable bed. I would happily return here

Review 7:Bathroom/toilet had no curtains/blinds. No food ( other than breakfast ). Wooden floors, although part of the charm were very noisey and disturbing at night. Lack of room sound proofing again disturbing.

Review 8:Very helpful reception. Location was relaxing after a long drive.

Review 9:evening dining facilities not yet available, but we understand this may change in the near future.

Review 10:the room, the service, breakfast, surrounds, atmosphere, comfort, etc very satisfactory

Review 11:Owners were caring and exceptional Rooms were beautifully appointed You could tell they loved the Chateau and this was expressed across all parts of the house

Review 12:I would recommend this place to anyone who wishes to stay in lovely surroundings in French countryside. Chateau is beautiful, our room was obviously recently renovated but yet respecting the old building and it's history. Lovely french breakfast, yet enough to start your day. I will be returning to this place for a longer stay.

Review 13:Breakfast was average & unexciting. The room in which we ate it was unimaginative and without atmosphere. No kettle/tea making facilities in the room was disappointing. And then there was the biggest shock of all.... our taxi ride organised by the hotel to their recommended restaurant (less than 2km) cost us 40 euros!!!

Review 14:The bedroom accommodation was really lovely - very comfortable & attractive. We had a view over the garden and the room itself was excellent. It is a real shame that silly things were missing - these little things could have made the stay superb - such as; a waste bin in the main bedroom!, a kettle with tea/coffee making facilities (you have to order from reception - the only other places we have had to do so is in 5* luxury hotels - and this is not!), and water in the rooms, better lighting and a full length mirror. Sounds like nit picking - well, the prices they charge, you expect more attention to detail.

Review 15:No staff available when required. No wifi and generally left to your own devices. Breakfast tables left uncleared.

Review 16:Large room with good bath

Review 17:A beautiful place, we especially loved the bathroom in the turret!

Review 18:bed too soft

Review 19:atmosphere and host

Review 20:The chateau and gardens The rooms are beautifully decorated Friendly host Good breakfast The rabbits!

Review 21:Beautiful location. Very Tranquil. Rooms decorated beautifully.

Review 22:We loved the sense of space and the swimming pool.

Review 23:beautiful place with fabulous park.I recommend this hotel. Przepiękne miejsce z wspaniałym parkiem

Review 24:The reception was nice the room was large and inviting and the grounds were immaculate.

Review 25:Got to make sure wifi in the rooms!!

Review 26:The decor and the grounds.... And the breakfast!

Review 27:Facilities a little tired, also a little isolated from town

Review 28:Nice setting, friendly helpful staff

Review 29:Distance from the restaurant, being on bikes

Review 30:The peace and quiet, the pool, the grounds, the breakfast, the general ambience of the chateau, the turret toilet.

Review 31:Too much climbing to room - steps to reception and stairs to first floor.

Review 32:Availability of swimming pool. Ability to stroll in wide expanse of grounds. History of the building.

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:We liked everything about the Chateau. The host was most welcoming and attentive. The room was very comfortable. The bathroom was great. The breakfast was really good and there was great attention to replenishing the buffet. We have noticed that some of the reviews commented on the lack of tea and coffee making facilities. Having researched the Chateau before we booked this facility was not expected and as usual we had our travel kettle and supplies with us. As a car is essential for this location a space can always be found for such supplies, even in my old man's folly. Long may places like this continue to prosper.

Review 35:A bit far from town. You would definitely need a car to get around.

Review 36:Barend was a very gracious host. He made us feel welcome and talked to us about the history of the chateau and made suggestions about places to eat. The place is beautifully restored. I would recommend this place for travelers who are looking for a very quaint, quiet, relaxing and beautiful place to stay. The free breakfast was great too.

Review 37:The hotel has no services, I can say Zero service. No garbage baskets in the room, no tissues, no drink waters at the hotel, the the bathroom washing hand is very old with separate hot & cold water, no cafe at all after the break fast. Well the place is nice but they really need to improve their services for the customers. For me I will never book in this château again because of a very bad services.

Review 38:The nature of the place was nice

Review 39:The charm of the 17th century chateau was just beautiful. The room was spacious, bathroom was modern and clean. The owner was vey helpful and recommended a great local (in Nevers) French restaurant. This place was a great escape and exactly the experience that we were looking for after a driving from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Highly recommend staying here!

Review 40:No food after Breckfast No Tea and Coffee in rooms

Review 41:The building is great and the pool is lovey Its a great place with lots of history and you feel it when you walk in

Review 42:Could have used a few more basic amenities, A tissue box in the room would be a good start, a telephone and perhaps some more counter and towel space in the bathrooms.

Review 43:I liked the setting of the hotel, the ambiance and the charm. It was set on beautiful grounds, and most comforts of home were available even though it was very old.

Review 44:Third year in a row for an important family reason. And it's still just exceptional in style and comfort. When we told guests that we invited to stay with us last year that we'd been back to repeat the experience again they could all see why!

Review 45:Breakfast room was small and quite cramped. Given the good weather they should have the option to eat outside.

Review 46:Comfortable spacious rooms, great bathrooms, good service.

Review 47:Excellent domaine and castle, seems the same architect like the chateau of dukes of Nevers, I tried to find historical references but I did not find... The staff was very helpful and kind. The atmosphere was of real charm / calm and silence. The domaine has a chapel and small lake. Swimming pool was ok. Breakfast was ok. Internet no problem. The region is a must see (Nevers, Vignobles Sancerre Pouilly sur Loire etc)

Review 48:We liked everything about this hotel, it is fabulous and we will definitely be returning for a longer stay. Beautifully restored and a really friendly welcome.

Review 49:Beautiful old small chateau, room charming with period bed and modern plumbing.Lovely grounds with superb pool. Very quiet and relaxing stay for 3 nights. Close to Nevers, lovely town on the Loire.

Review 50:Maybe a fan in the bedrooms to help move some air on warmer nights, otherwise nothing.

Review 51:We had a wonderful two nights in this amazing chateau. Host was fabulous, facilities were great and the place is just a beautiful place to relax and explore the surrounds of Nevers and the wine country, a great spot we would love to come back to!

Review 52:This place is amazing. You really are made to feel welcome. The bedrooms and communal areas are beautiful and comfortable. The grounds are lovely too, we just wished we had the weather to enjoy them more. The breakfast is really great, an excuse to have croissants every morning. In addition to this we were given so many great recommendations of things to do in the area, it really made our stay memorable. We cannot wait to go back again.

Review 53:We loved this period designed, importantly historic (quite a WWII story), gem-in-the making. The spirit, enthusiasm' and sincerity of its owners make it easy to look past the few foibles in the place. 'She's' got great bones and if you let your imagination go toward what she'll be like when she's fully finished, you'll enjoy your stay all the more now. Breakfast was simple but most adequate. The rooms are large with high coffered ceilings, yet quaint and cozy. The 'honour' bar in the charming and elegant drawing room reveals the true hospitality of the chateau. The refinished antiques are a pleasure to view. Bathrooms are upgraded and the beds very good. Linens, draperies, area carpets and the refinished original hardwood floors were spotless. The pool looked great (a bit inclement to try it). This was a fun adventure...to see dauntless entrepreneurial spirit in action. France's answer to 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. Hope I can still afford to stay there when it's fully finished.

Review 54:This is a delightful small chateau in a peaceful location just outside Nevers. The welcome was warm and the proprietor could not have been more helpful. Our "superior double" was large, warm, comfortable and well-equipped. Breakfast was good. There is a large pool in a good position, but we were unable to take advantage of it because of the poor weather. Next time, perhaps.

Review 55:The host could not have been more helpful or friendly. Every request wasmet with enthusiasm to help. Charming Chateau with large rooms. All therenovations that have been undertaken have been done in the bestpossible manner. Very good breakfast and lovely common rooms.

Review 56:nothing !!

Review 57:Beautiful location, fabulous chateau, excellent staff

Review 58:The building and grounds. The amenities, The renovation. The welcome.

Review 59:The room was lovely and warm, the service was great, we were the only couple this off season Monday

Review 60:The Chateau du Fours de Vaux had historical interest for our group.

Review 61:Beautiful hotel , gorgeous room ! Owners so helpful . We cant wait to go again
