Reviews for Hotel Igloo

Review 1:We were in touch with the owner, Josette before we arrived via email. She answered all our queries really quickly and in perfect English, which gave us confidence before our trip to France. When we arrived, Josette upgraded us to a wonderful studio apartment after we requested a quieter room from the front of the building which was next to the lift and the main road. The fact that she didn't charge any extra for this at the end of our stay was really appreciated and shows a compassion not often found in larger, corporate Hotels. The breakfast was lovely, the staff were always very helpful and the Cleaners especially were a real pleasure to be around. They're good fun and positive people who are genuinely nice. The location is ideal for access to both Ski lifts and so far, the best bar in Morzine; "The Haka". I say so far because we would definitely stay again in the village and Hotel l'igloo to sample more of their wonderful atmosphere.

Review 2:Bit noisy being by the road.

Review 3:Great location in town for skiing and for local restaurants and bars. Staff lovely, breakfast ideal and hotel really clean.

Review 4:Nothing - we would happily stay again.

Review 5:Friendly staff, brand new bathrooms, great location by Bec Jaune microbrewery. Was an error with the bill - and was sorted out quickly and painlessly by the very nice owner/manager.

Review 6:Nothing to fault

Review 7:Hotel was spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly & accommodating. The bathrooms were excellent as was the bedding & towels. The owner (jo) should be very proud of her hotel. Breakfast was great as was the ability to cook your own food in the communal kitchen.

Review 8:Cheapest ingredients for breakfast, no eggs - only option - cheap baguette and ham. Last day even yogurt was missing. For the hotel with daily rate ~100 Euro it should be better. We were forced to bring our own ingredients for breakfast..... Hotel staff unfriendly making impression you are not welcome in the hotel...

Review 9:Surroundings, nature

Review 10:Staff in the hotel is not nice making impression you are not welcome. Just waiting to take money.... . Breakfast quality / content is not acceptable for the hotel which cost ~100 Euro - Cheapest baguette without taste, horrible piece of ham, no eggs etc. Last day it was even no yogurt.

Review 11:View from the hotel surroundings.

Review 12:Great location, for a 2 stay break it was super. Nice South facing balcony. New bathrooms and work now commencing to create new social space for winter season.

Review 13:Beds very small and uncomfortable plus one of the matresses smelt horrible! Had problems getting WiFi.

Review 14:Very good and central location. Breakfast was basic but did the job.

Review 15:cramped in for breakfast. Needs better bread, rolls and some fresh fruit

Review 16:Close to lifts, town, and the staff really helpful and friendly and Sauna would was lovely

Review 17:We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Igloo, the location was fantastic, very central. The staff very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean with good facilities. We couldn't have asked for more and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation in the Morzine area.

Review 18:Staff do not speak English to well, Breakfast choice a little limited, but this would not be a reason not to stay here. I enjoyed my stay

Review 19:nice level of comfort, easy to access the Pleney or Super Morzine lift and close to the town. very clean

Review 20:Wifi a bit intermittent. Also bbc world TV was not available for a couple of days.

Review 21:Good location for ski lifts and town. Easy to get to from Geneva airport by Alpy bus. Good variety at breakfast, eggs, cereal, pastries, ham and cheese etc. Room very comfortable with double glazed window and good size balcony that faced the Pleney gondola and ski runs into morzine. Also able to leave baggage and have a shower before leaving for airport.

Review 22:Sometimes some noise from the streets Didn't at first realise you could shut the shutters on the door to block out the light when going to bed

Review 23:Kitchen facilities Breakfast

Review 24:As a regular user of Wifi, although it was available, it was very slow on regular occasions.

Review 25:The facilities were great with a good selection at breakfast. The availability of kitchen use worked well for us and, our type of vacation

Review 26:This is a lovely, cosy hotel with plenty of Alpine charm but gorgeous modern bathrooms. Both the Pleney and Super Morzine lifts are about a three minute walk away, making the location perfect. Rooms have balconies overlooking the slopes for a fabulous relaxing view.

Review 27:Wifi didn't work and telly was all French. These were the ONLY downside. Can live without those for a week tho. Fantastic hotel, would DEFINATLY book again. Highly recommended. Many thanks josette. X

Review 28:Fab hotel. Josette was ALWAYS at work, making sure everything was taken care of. Great staff. Location..... Vurtually ski in ski out. Cleanliness was superb, loads of towels and pillows.

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:Service, comfort and location. 5 mins walk in ski boots from Pleney. Does exactly what you need. Breakfast is very good. No restaurant but there are loads to choose from within 5 mins walk. Great value highly recommended.

Review 31:A guest bar would have made it perfect.

Review 32:Equally in between the Super Morzine and the Plenny lifts. So easy access to either Avoriaz or Morzine areas. Close to shops and restaurants, great view.

Review 33:We loved everything about Hotel Igloo. The staff are amazing and very friendly. We were surprised with a lovely bottle of wine in our room too! There is plenty of choice for breakfast and it's all really tasty. The location of the hotel is also very good as it is close to both ski-lifts. Merci to the staff there! We would 110% recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Morzine.

Review 34:Excellent B&B, right in the town centre and less than 5 mins walk away from one of the main ski lifts, very friendly and helpful hostess (Josette). Comfy, good breakfasts, nice kitchen area for making your own food!

Review 35:The manager Josette was especially helpful when another guest took my ski boots and went out of her way to ensure that I had some free hire boots from a local shop until my own boots were returned.

Review 36:The ambience at the Igloo is very laid back and easy going whilstl being very professionally managed, everything you want in a basic family run small hotel. Clean, comfortable and in a great location for skiing too......

Review 37:It's on the main road so can get a bit of noise if you have a room on that side of the hotel. Wasn't a problem for us though.

Review 38:Location is great, near to the to the town centre and both the Pleney and Super Morzine lifts are only a short walk away - perfectly manageable even in ski boots! Josette looked after us very well and was super-helpful; even had our room ready for our early midday arrival. Hotel is clean and comfortable.

Review 39:The rooms are clean and warm, as is the whole hotel, It is a family run hotel and the family work very hard, to make it what it is. The hotel feels genuinely French, though very good English is spoken. Love the buffet style breakfast, it really sets you up for a mornings skiing.

Review 40:The owner and all staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a great time, the hotel was newly refurbished and very comfortable, we had a lovely view from our balcony of the village and the mountains. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The facilities were great including a sauna and the the breakfast was lovely. This is by far the best hotel we have stayed in for ages, far better than the impersonal larger chain hotels, we are definitely coming back to stay the next time we go skiing. Highly recommended.

Review 41:Take ear plugs! A lot of noise from road and piste bashers in middle of night!! Room smelt of stale smoke on arrival despite no smoking signs. Make sure you let them know if you are arriving after 10pm as we got told off!!

Review 42:Nice breakfast. Plenty of hot water and power shower. Good wifi in bedrooms. 2 minute walk to Pleney lift. Excellent maid service.

Review 43:This was our first proper ski trip, first time in Morzine. So I can only compare to my other trips in other areas. And I found it very expensive to pay €1540/week for a small 4-bed room in a small family run hotel with limited facilities. Although the room was nice and clean, but it's too tiny for 4 of us - two adults and two children of 12 and 8 years old. We were not impressed with breakfast. We had breakfast there for 7 mornings and the choices were very limited and the same every single day. After 3 days, I really felt sick to think of eating the same things again. There was a basket of fruits (oranges and apples) but the same fruits stayed there for the whole week (as noone ate them) and they didnt replace with new fresh fruits. As our room was at the end in the corner, WiFi was very poor and I had to go to the communal hallway each time I wanted access to Internet.

Review 44:Location of Igloo is excellent, only 5mins walk to the town centre, shops, restaurants, supermarket, tourist office, literally to everywhere you need. The hotel looks nice and clean. They cleaned our room everyday. The kitchen in the lower ground level has every necessary equipment if you want to cook a proper meal and there was a large dining space. We cooked and ate our dinner there a few times and felt very homey which was very important after a long day out skiing.

Review 45:Very good location for access to slopes , transport and resort facilities . Clean , comfortable , and practical ski hotel . Excellent , friendly staff . All overseen by the knowledgeable , helpful and ever present owner , Josette . Highly recommend Le Grillon half board option .

Review 46:No problems, but I specifically asked for a room on the side opposite of the road so that it would be quiet.

Review 47:Easy to find and well located for visiting the Morzine area.

Review 48:The hotel has no bar.

Review 49:Stayed at the igloo for a 4 day MTB trip. The hotel is in a very good location to walk to the bars and restaurants. The staff were very good. hotel had bike storage and hose to clean the bikes at the end of the day. The breakfast was continental ham, cheese, cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs and fresh bread.

Review 50:Would've liked a tea/coffee making facility in the room. On the corner of a main road and a busy cut through side road, therefore quite noisy.

Review 51:Josette, the owner, was welcoming and helpful. Friendly staff. Clean - comfy beds - hearty and tasty continental breakfast. Close to centre of Morzine - easily accessible.

Review 85:Good location very clean and nice staff

Review 86:Friendly staff and good central location between the 2 main gondola. Short 5 min walk to the town centre

Review 87:Josette really makes the experience as best as is possible. She will always try and help you if she can and she is an asset to the hotel.

Review 88:Location of hotel is perfect for both ski lifts, choice at breakfast was good, although quite busy and a little cramped at peak times.

Review 97:Wifi a little erratic

Review 99:The bed was really comfortable and bath/ shower really powerful. The room had recently been re docorated

Review 100:No restaurant on site.

Review 101:Location excellent, breakfast great.

Review 102:Perfect location- really clean and friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious too :)

Review 103:Excellent place to stay

Review 104:The hotel was very clean and we were made to feel very welcome. It was easy to get everywhere from, parking was great. Good value for money.

Review 105:Our visit was during the first week of June and there was not a lot to do in Morzine. The weather was wonderful and the hiking trails were nice but the lifts were closed, many of the restaurants and businesses were closed, and summer activities had not yet begun so we were not able to enjoy many of the local amenities. June is not the best time of year to visit this town. It is also strictly a resort town and the prices are high for everything. If you are going to visit this town, brush up on your French. The people were relatively friendly but very little English is spoken and almost all signage for trails, directions, etc. are only printed in French. You can easily get turned around. We did find that if we attempted to communicate in French (as bad as our French is), the local people were wonderfully forgiving and helped us as much as they could.

Review 106:We liked the small village setting. Breakfast is provided with local breads and an assortment of cereals, yogurts & jam, and cheeses along with coffee, juices, teas, and hot coco. The room was clean and comfortable and there is free parking on site. It is located on a main thoroughfare and there is a lot of street noise during the day but it quiets down after dark. We slept well. The innkeeper was very friendly and really went out of her way to make sure our stay was comfortable.

Review 107:Would have been nice to have fresh fruit at breakfast

Review 108:Josette is a fabulous host. The hotel is warm, comfortable and has copious amounts of hot water. Good location near shops bars and restaurants.

Review 109:We loved the spacious room and the great view. The freshly baked French pastries were superb. My darling girlfriend reckons there wasn't enough fruit but she can't get enough. She's a bit of a fruit bat.

Review 110:The wifi was a bit bad at times.

Review 111:The breakfast was incredible; so much choice. Everything was clean and comfortable and there was a sauna which was a lovely end to the days on the slopes. The hotel is well located for all the town amenities such as ski rental, shops and bars. The staff were very helpful with ordering the ski passes.
