Reviews for Best Western North Shore Hotel & Golf Club

Review 1:door not locked to the full when cleaner left . . cheap toilet tissue . . shower bit difficult to get just the right temperature .

Review 2:large bed. lovely towels . shampoo and body wash . clean crisp sheets comfy pillows . TV and tea making facilities .quiet . friendly staff good food . . nice beer .

Review 3:The room was located above the kitchen and the noise from the chillers/extractors etc was disturbing through the night.

Review 4:The room was clean and warm and the food is of a good standard.

Review 5:Grubby, food (fish and chips) tasteless and soggy. Ordered early morning call and newspaper, neither arrived. When I told them, I wasn't offered a newspaper. Didn't eat breakfast after previous nights experience.

Review 6:Close to where I wanted to be the next day.

Review 7:Shocked to find out when checking out that breakfast cost £28 for 2 people. Despite being served a cold pot of tea, the breakfast was tasty but not worth £28!

Review 8:The bed was very comfortable.

Review 9:This is not a hotel that is suitable for disabled people. To many stairs, no lift to different floors other than a small stair lift from the back door. The main entrance is impossible for anyone who has mobility problems and being sent to the back door to ring a bell is not 21st century.

Review 10:The beds were satisfactory

Review 11:Staff hard to find, not very friendly. Room didn't appear to have been cleaned and had mold on the walls. Very off putting.

Review 12:Good location and price was reasonable

Review 13:it was very windy the weekend of our stay and a gate at the end of the building somehow came open in the early hours waking me and my partner up,i got up and closed said gate and reported it to reception when i went for breakfast that morning.i was informed it should be locked but nothing else was done about it.

Review 14:our room was excellent and very comfortable we were upgraded to what they call the lodge which was on the edge of the golf course, and if i wanted to pick fault with anything it would be that the window internally could have done with a good clean.

Review 15:We wanted to open a tab for our evening meal and drinks in the bar but we found out that the card was kept by the bar staff and put on a stand behind the bar this we found was an easy target for anyone to be able to clone the card or use it for other things. Needless to say we refused to do this and paid as we went along.

Review 16:A warm comfy hotel good food.

Review 17:My room had windows that opened directly onto an outside staircase (strewn with cigarette butts) that meant it was not secure. This would have been a major problem in warmer weather, as the room was too hot even in wintry weather, and with the radiators turned off. also, there was a noisy fan running 24/7 just outside below the room.

Review 18:It was reasonable value for money, at the Booking.com discounted rate.

Review 19:This is a lovely, older, seaside hotel. Almost shabby sheik, it's worn but comfortable like a pair of your favourite slippers. Very relaxing. The staff are fantastic!

Review 20:Room was near bar and a bit noisy with some sales type meeting going on.

Review 21:Friendly staff, competitively priced accommodation. Very convenient for where I was working. Very prompt food service

Review 22:The bed was a little uncomfortable. Room small. Damp patch on wall and water running down window. Located next to an office so phone ringing. Woken at 6am with loud talking and banging about from room/kitchen above.

Review 23:Location to beach and a base for sightseeing the area. Heating and hot water excellent.

Review 24:sorry to say we have nothin to dislike

Review 25:the friendly atmosphere, plus the lovely views the golf course looked excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful :-)

Review 26:I thought the location was excellent, we had great access to walking along the beach paths in both directions. The views over the golf course were lovely. The quality and presentation of the food in the restaurant for evening meal was incredible, the menu choices were extremely good, if we return it will be to sample the restaurant food again. The large double bed was very comfortable too.

Review 27:Breakfast in the bar was offered at £5 ish for a light cooked breakfast - ideal! But only available when the restaurant version (too big) was finished :(

Review 28:Car parking awful. It was full on arrival and yet we managed to squeeze into a space. Looks like some visitors to the beach, park there too, along with the golfers.

Review 29:close to the beach and a great walk down into town. We stayed room only and the rooms were just right, comfy beds, clean and quiet.

Review 30:Price for solo persons, would like to see more done for return customers, I've stayed there 4 times, would be nice to have a free weekend stay soon. Would show I'm being looked after. Bathroom showers could be a lot better, quite poor if honest.

Review 31:Location setting excellent, very close by to all amenities. Staff were fantastic, hotel very nice, will return.

Review 32:Breakfast was expensive was not explained that we could of have maybe 1 slice of fried bread instead of the half a slice and one saysage half a slice of black pudding it was fine for me but not very filling for a grown man and for £12 very expensive for what you got.

Review 33:Reception staff was lovely

Review 34:Staff couldn't call us a cab but handed us a business card to call ourselves. Loud drilling in bar over lunch to fit a TV.

Review 35:Fast check in Great hotel

Review 36:I realised I couldn't have the use of my room before 2pm.,but not being allowed to book in on arrival at midday did irritate me, and could only put my bag in conference room.

Review 37:I have used this hotel for many years and find it very good.

Review 38:We were put into the lodge. Think they should tell people before they turn up as a bit of a surprise and when raining the walk to the main hotel a bit of a nusance

Review 39:Staff very good. And helpfull

Review 40:Showerhead was loose and had minor problems selecting bath or shower on the tap, but no big issues. My friend's single room (127) was quite small, and the noise from outside fans interrupted sleep.

Review 41:Location of hotel. Breakfast and Bar Food very good.

Review 42:Couldn't fault it

Review 43:Hotel was in great location, and staff was really nice, bedroom was a good size for me my fella and 2 boys and even better had tv in each room,

Review 44:We ordered room service which was very quick and hot. Unfortunately my husbands steak was not well done as requested. They took it back and cooked it again but chips and scam pie where freezing cold. Not cheap at over £14. Needed fresh chips etc. onion ring burnt. My sausage and mash was ok.

Review 45:Staff where amazing always ready with a smile. We asked for an early check in and late check out and a sea view and all where granted. Bed very comfy.

Review 46:Bit noisy in the morning from 7am - Golfers chatting under the window! Golf carts and general opening up of the place. Not everyone stays there for the golf!

Review 47:It suited our purpose just away from busy Skegness on the north shore whilst visiting friends in Chapel St Leonard's. Access to the building was by steep stairs back and front and there was no lift. A very adequate car park even with a large car.

Review 48:We only stayed 1 night at north shore and Was woken up early in the morning at 6.30 by the groundsman cutting the grass with a tractor. When I approached reception about it they were very rude and unhelpful

Review 49:Only thing that marked the review down a little was the cleanness of the room whether that's me being picky but could of done with a dust around, wipe down on skirting and radiator where there's was few tea stains, bit of mould in the bathroom a print the tiles/taps.

Review 50:Lovely hotel, close to beach and skegness.friendly staff felt very welcomed.comfortable beds and accommodation.access to WiFi and tv. Bedding was crisp clean and fresh. Great view from our room onto the golf course. Slept very well. Only wished we had booked for additional nights to extend our stay. Room service was available but we didn't have this nor did we have breakfast because of the price. In room there was tea/coffee making facilities and bottles in bathroom to use. You could get more things from the reception if u needed it

Review 51:the room was not up to the standard that we would have expected for this hotel.

Review 52:the facilities were excellent. although we were not impressed with our room, the manager was lovely and couldn't apologise enough

Review 53:Very noisy on a morning, golfers setting off at 7am chatting loudly outside our window. We had gone to relax not to get up early ever morning.

Review 54:Good location. Clean rooms. Nice size room. Complimentary tea and coffee

Review 55:Very near beach. Lovely room with sea view. Well equipped room. Had de caffeinated tea bags as well as normal first time we have found that small welcome touch.

Review 56:The bedroom was not clean, found sugar crumbs on desk and around the floor probably from previous guest that was not cleaned. Bedroom was by stairs and had steady stream of guests walking up and down stairs at all hours. There was a constant sound of the aircon units outside so I couldn't open the window to let cool air in. Not a pleasant nights sleep.

Review 57:cloud wifi.

Review 58:Had an excellent room which consisted of a double room for my two children and a single room for me. Meant I could stay up, make tea and watch tele all night without disturbing the kids.

Review 59:Asked for a quiet room but unfortunately was allocated one just above the kitchen & the very noisy fan/cooling system kept me awake most of the night.( Room104) Changed rooms for the rest of the stay, very nice then!

Review 60:Very comfortable & clean beds. Lovely tasty hot breakfast!

Review 61:Undrinkable coffee at breakfast - had to leave it. Water pressure in shower non-existent; constant hum in the room (a generator) including at night; as a Best Western thought interior décor could do with an update

Review 62:Hotel location good for visiting friends; comfortable room and good facilities; friendly helpful staff; apart from the coffee, food quality and quantity excellent

Review 63:Stayed midweek in a family room for one night while visiting the beach & Butlins with the kids. Lovely setting, friendly staff and a relaxing nights sleep.

Review 64:The hotel was not disabled friendly. From the car park there was a 200yd walk to find disabled access, and once inside there were differing levels to negotiate. Our room was cramped for size.

Review 65:Had to leave hotel at mid night due to the noisy extraction fan,as there were no other rooms available. Staff did tell us the fans went off after kitchen closed at 9.00pm which was untrue and we were told they had no right to say that. Will not be staying again.

Review 66:The rooms window was facing inward, directly opposite other rooms, (so no view) and there was a constantly running air conditioning unit running all the time outside the window, so it was quite noisy.

Review 67:Location of hotel, free and plentiful parking and good standard of cleanliness.

Review 68:no complaints to spoil our stay hope this continues on july 1st which is our next visit.

Review 69:relaxing atmosphere from the start , enjoyable stay thanks to the staff.

Review 70:A larger selection of breakfast pastries would be nice. there seemed to only be a small selection on offer which quickly ran out without anymore being made available.

Review 71:Really friendly and helpful staff, lovely warm feel to the hotel, the beds were very comfortable, resulting in a great nights sleep!

Review 72:One small thing there was a baby in the bar the first evening until after 10pm and the parents kept squeesing a squeeky toy to pacify it. They could easily have gone into the front lounge which was empty. I have four children and five grandchildren but we never took ours into a pub at any time never mind after 10pm. A polite notice on the bar requesting all young children to leave the bar area at least by 6pm would be a step in the right direction. Even the barman mentioned that a young baby should be in bed by that time - and I couldn't agree more. Also the thermostatic valve in our room (123) was faulty and should be replaced as the room was far too hot initially (but we managed to tone it down eventually). Another thing. We requested a twin room (two single beds) but got two single beds looped together with one super king size douvet which wasn't quite what we wanted but fortunately, due to the very large size of the beds and douvet, it was fine and very comfy. Thankl you.

Review 73:It was very relaxing and laid back with very friendly and helpful staff. The waiter Marius in particular at breakfast was very professional and even addressed me by my name on the second and third mornings - which was a first! He obviously took great pride in his work and made us feel special. He is a natural and I'm sure will go far! Excellent food, lovely location, lovely sandy beach with miles of sand for walks and hardly anyone about. Nice pleasant view out the back over the golf course. Plenty of easy parking - very important. Near the "Seaview" pub which was really nice - excellent food and drink and very friendly staff and athmosphere. The people in Skeggy know how to live! Thank you.

Review 74:Our room was like a cupboard, they did change it, but should never have been offered it lunch and evening meal was poor do not know how the got 3star AA

Review 75:Outlook was good with golf course Very good breakfast

Review 76:Breakfast was good but dinner in the dining room was very poor. We both had different dishes but both had too much garlic and far too much salt. We could not eat the dinner.

Review 77:Staff were helpful and general standard of accommodation was acceptable

Review 78:The deal on the accommodation rate was excellent, as long as you don`t expect 3 + star facilities. Food and service in the bar / bistro was very good and excellent value.

Review 79:radiator on full blast in bathroom whole stay(no towel rail...this was apparently it!) as was hot/humid weather...we boiled! no lift....wifi hit and miss....décor faded and old fashioned.

Review 80:location.......being able watch golfers whilst having a meal/drink in bar....car parking

Review 81:Room was hot & stuffy. Noise from refrigeration fans for the kitchen were situated below so was unable to leave the window open for very long. Broken crisps on the hall-way carpet, broken blind in the bath-room. Noise from next bed-room due to poor acoustic insulation. Did not expect a golf hotel to have a screaming baby in the bar when I tried to have an early evening drink before dinner. I booked this hotel thinking it would have adults only and no 'holiday families' as would be found in town.

Review 82:Conveniently situated within short walk of Skegness centre

Review 83:could not fault bar service however perhaps a little more training on how to keep & dispense real ale would not go unrewarded.

Review 84:hotel warm & comfortable

Review 85:Mould in window and en suite extractor fan not working. Half used soap and shampoo bottles still on soap dish in shower and marks on tiles.

Review 86:Value for money, good location, excellent bar food and comfortable

Review 87:Room 101 is located next to a mechanically vent or pump (above kitchen??) and the noise went on all night and caused loss of sleep....

Review 88:Staff and food good!

Review 89:The bar staff were really friendly. The hotel was set in beautiful surroundings right by the beach. Not good for children as it is a mile walk into town and 3 mile to Fantasy Island. (We didn't have children so was fine for us).

Review 90:That we didn't book to stop longer!

Review 91:We stayed here Friday evening and had no complaints about anything the room was clean, bathroom was lovely toiletries were included, even the little touches like bottles of water were available!bed was comfy and clean,no noise was heard during our stay but I do believe we were above the kitchen we will definitely be stopping here again

Review 92:only complaint I have with regards to the hotel was others staying there.we had our 1 year old son with us and was rudely woken up at 4am by people on the same floor banging doors screaming and shouting. We had to wait till 7am for breakfast as our son would not go back sleep.

Review 93:We liked the location the golf course and views And the staff all were very friendly.

Review 94:The room wasn't clean at all I work in cleaning industry so I can tell it didn't had a clean for months just a quick fix up on a bathroom and change of the bed linen. I think compare to other Best Westerns it's not acceptable.

Review 95:We had a sea view room even we didn't asked for it. The location is quiet and by the sea. Food was excellent but overpriced

Review 96:Nowhere to store our bicycles, so we had to attach them to some railings.

Review 97:We liked the fact that it was close to the sea. Comfortable room and friendly staff.

Review 98:The only thing I would say was the staircase needed a fresh lick of paint.

Review 99:The room was very clean and airy with a lovely large bed with crisp white sheets, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We found the breakfast had everything you could wish for, if you wanted anything different you only had to ask. We felt the breakfast was one of the best we have experienced. Over all a very enjoyable stay, we will be returning.

Review 100:Only minor quibble was that being out of season, the main restaurant was not open,. Having said that, the meals in the bar were of a high standard.

Review 101:Good Location, Good Food, Extremely helpful and friendly staff

Review 102:the bath would benefit from some kind of handles to assist with entering and exiting the shower

Review 103:the location, the friendly staff and the general ambience also the food and service.we are looking forward to a return visit in the near future

Review 104:Room servicing was not brilliant, but the room itself was fine. Good bathroom.

Review 105:The staff I dealt with were always cheerful, helpful and very willing to assist. Perfect food too.

Review 106:Room 127 was located next to some sort of generator which runs through the night. the room was warm with the radiators off and opening the window made the noise even if worse!

Review 107:Friendly staff, comfortable hotel

Review 108:Perfect location. Excellent room with really comfortable bed. Great facilities. Enjoyable breakfast. Polite and friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 109:The extractor fan/air conditioning outside my bedroom was annoying as it hummed all night.

Review 110:It was relaxing and in a convenient position not too near busy centre.

Review 111:The bed was too hard for me, and sometimes, there was too much noise made outside the window, in a small outside picnic area.

Review 112:Breakfast very good, room good and bathroom facility good.

Review 113:The view from our room which was room 136 but it certainly didn't spoil our trip

Review 114:We thoroughly enjoyed the whole New Years experience, from the canapés at the start of evening until the music finished at the end.food was of fantastic quality. Staff freindly, room clean and comfortable all in a welcoming aptmosphere

Review 115:There was a slightly unpleasant smell in the bathroom that may have been the product used to clean.

Review 116:excellent bed and pillows. great view from bedroom of the sea. friendly and helpful staff great breakfast.

Review 117:Noisy guests late at night after their night on the beer!

Review 118:Easily accessible and centrally located. Warm and comfortable on a cold and windy day. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable bar and tasty bar snacks. Good value.

Review 119:We had an excellent stay. Lovely meal with great atmosphere. Room good with nice shower. Could not fault our stay.No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Review 120:Very disappointed this time with the room, it was very small and not very clean.

Review 121:Attended a wedding here last year and was very satisfied with our stay which is why we decided to book again. The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff were very polite.

Review 122:The food portions were too large even for people who like too eat. The cost was still reasonable but too much food!

Review 123:Location was excellent and we had a sea view which made it really special. Our bed was very comfortable and with the sound of the waves we had a great sleep.

Review 124:The noise and bad language the party of men in the lounge bar were allowed to make. Not very nice for the other people in the lounge bar to eat and drink in. Although this party was probably a one off unless they attend more than once a year.

Review 125:the pleasantness of the staff. Their ability to put anything you ask of them into effect as soon as they can.

Review 126:Booking in was chaotic on arrival, hotel also part of golf club so language in public bar was somewhat colourful!!

Review 127:Food was excellent and piping hot, staff friendly and chatty, rooms warm and nicely presented.

Review 128:The room we have stayed before and it was excellent. Unfortunately this time we had two beds pushed together which was very noisey and uncomfortable.

Review 129:Excellent food and drink at reasonable prices,

Review 130:Car park had joy rider in middle of night speeding round car park near our and others cars so husband slept was disturbed keeping look out that car was safe!!!

Review 131:Convenient for Skegness, very clean and staff pleasant and special diet gluten free catered for very well. Good value for money!!

Review 132:The restaurant was booked for a function, so we ate in the bar. The tables and floor in the bar area were very dirty. As a vegetarian I was disappointed to find only one hot meal to eat. The barman was also very surely.

Review 133:The location was wonderful. Close to the sea and overlooking the golf course. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable.

Review 134:What I think was a generator near my room outside stopped me sleeping well. Newspaper not delivered as promised on 2nd morning.

Review 135:Friendly staff especially at Breakfast. Excellent breakfast. Clean comfortable single room.

The Fine Print

The restaurant has a dress code after 7 pm: gentlemen must wear a collared shirt and pants. Stylish jeans are acceptable.
