Reviews for Woolpack Inn

Review 1:Although waterproof mattress protection is required, an entirely plastic mattress was not comfortable to sleep on. The bed got too hot and the sheets don't stay in place.

Review 2:Traditional English pub atmosphere, friendly staff, great breakfast.

Review 3:The walls between rooms were very thin, could hear people next door very clearly! Bed not very comfortable.

Review 4:Good cooked breakfast Good value and clean

Review 5:Thanks fact there was no information anywhere in the room about when breakfast ect was served we had to phone up no phone in the room...to find out.

Review 6:It was simple excellent value fir money very clean and just whst we needed

Review 7:Extractor fan & heater in bathroom not working so the whole place smelt damp all the time. No internet when we arrived at b16:00 as no one knew how to re set the modem until son arrived at 18:00. Only 1 hard backed chair in very small room.

Review 8:Cooked breakfast when we got it as they would not do it New Years morning??

Review 9:Smelt damp and dirty, tired beyond belief. Stained carpet, walls paper thin- kept awake by snorer all night next door. It was the night of 26th Dec and breakfast was included in our room rate the morning of 27th. Had email from owner the week before stating that they would not be doing breakfast the morning of 27th but would provide a picnic breakfast for our 2 rooms.....it was inedible....uht milk to have with cereal, day old croissant. No reduction in rate. We paid Aussie $124.00 per room....not worth more than $35.00. Would love the hotel inspecor to visit...we certainly would not again. Overall appauling accommodation

Review 10:Nothing. It has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Review 11:Shabby, old and in need of a complete makeover. Curtains hanging off runner one side and barely stretched across window. Big cobweb at other end. Staff far from friendly. Reasonable cooked breakfast (in shabby pub bar) but no 'would you like this ..or that' and no reference made to my wife's need for gluten free food which was noted on the booking. Not recommended!

Review 12:The room was cold and the lamps by the bed didnt work the bulbs had blown the staff replaced them we got a disabled room even though we didnt request one the sink was very low and the beds were uncomfortable. We couldnt get the channels on the tv.

Review 13:The staff were very helpful and polite

Review 14:The beds are uncomfortable and the walls are very thin, with noise traveling between rooms

Review 15:The location is very easy to find, just 1 minute off the A27

Review 16:Although the double bed was comfortable, it creeked every time either of us moved. We could also hear everything from next door! So unfortunately although hubby slept ok, I was awake most of the night.

Review 17:Both the room & bathroom were spacious & clean, with all you needed. Breakfast was adequate. It was tastey, well cooked.

Review 18:a bit more choice than full English breakfast would suit the health conscious a little better

Review 19:near to where I needed to be cheap basic accommodation

Review 20:Staff very unfriendly Room very plain and basic, and could do with a refurbishment. Pub was very old fashioned and didn't have many customers, which considering it was the weekend and near Christmas you would have thought it would have been fully booked and bustling with life. No central heating, just a wall heater that kept flashing so didn't seem safe and turned it off. Room had interconnecting door, so walls very thin and could hear the conversations of the people next door and TV. Smallest TV ever seen, must have been 15"!

Review 21:I suppose the breakfast was OK, but there wasn't anything else that I liked about the accommodation apart from the location but it did have a Free car park.

Review 22:Enjoyed the oldie world style. The location was ideal for the purpose of our visit. The food was excellent.two lovely breakfast,s and the carvery meals Friday and Sunday were very good.

Review 23:Damp smell from bathroom completely ruined our stay. We could not smell the damp initially as the air freshener used was so strong, probably to mask the damp. It is such a shame as the room was clean, large and comfortable.

Review 24:Food was good

Review 25:Bedrooms have all the required elements but at the minimum level. Lighting very poor, beds hard, pillows worse. If staying in winter make sure there's enough to keep warm. I froze. Bathroom fully equipped - but plumbing extremely noisy - keep the door shut. Sound- proofing inadequate - I heard every word of my neighbours' conversation and their doing everything that one does in bathrooms. Plus snores and night sounds....... Th PR photo of the place is nothing like the reality: it's a tightly cropped pic of the back garden - out front it's not a sweet country pub in the middle of rural England but a 1950s or so roadhouse right on the main drag.

Review 26:Great cooked breakfast, served superfast, super hot and as ordered 'without beans'. Good coffee too from machine with freshly ground beans. Shower good and hot, Friday night carvery only menu perfectly OK standard British grub and value for money: good meat decently cooked, OK roast spuds and Yorkshire, and passable cauliflower in cheese/cream sauce. Fast WiFi.

Review 27:I felt the decor needed updating, the carpets need replacing and the bedding is very tired looking.

Review 28:The people were very friendly and break fast was good.

Review 29:cold on arrival not very comfortable atmosphere rather bleak decor looked on to car park, so had to keep curtains drawn

Review 30:reasonable cost breakfast was filling breakfast staff were friendly good car parking

Review 31:There was a bad smell throughout the accommodation. The bed was not good at all. Bathroom was inadequate. Tv was very small. Just very disappointed all round.

Review 32:Moudly shower curtain.smelly bathroom as fan not working. small uncomfortable bed staff not welcoming or sociable. very limited menu due to steak night no flexibilty.

Review 33:The food was well cooked

Review 34:Staff unhelpful., breakfast staff were awful bedside lamps did not work, bed was lumpy bathroom was not great, will not stay again

Review 35:location of the Woolpack Inn is easy to find

Review 36:Everything - words cannot describe how bad it was; humourless landlady at pub who barely looked up from her newspaper at the bar when we arrived, dank smelling room, blocked shower tray (overflowed and flooded bathroom), uncomfortable bed, postage stamp size TV, hanky size thin duvet. Didn't even want to risk the breakfast after seeing the state of the place. You should remove this hotel/pub from your listings. It really lets you down. At £65 it was a total rip off.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:The room wasn't cleaned properly we found a cigarette packet which was visible on a shelf. Dirty stained sheets, stale smelling towels lots of stains on the carpet. Both of the rooms we had were depressing.

Review 39:It was close to where we had to be and they had a car park

Review 40:Bathroom was very smelly , carpets dirty , overall the whole place could only be described as "tired"

Review 41:The breakfast was nice and the shower was hot.

Review 42:The Hotel is trying to be something that is not. Although the room was clean, it was very basic, writing decorations?? Dont really know what that was all about. Although breakfast was included, walking into the pub to sit down, it was very unwelcoming - As though it had been set up for breakfast at last minute, so we did not stay. The Pub is too open to make you feel comfortable.

Review 43:The room was clean

Review 44:Not a major issue, but the water from shower come out to the floor, because curtains are too short. Nothing else.

Review 45:The staff was really nice and friendly, the room was alright and was very quiet next to a pub.Breakfast was ok.

Review 46:The value for money is shocking, having travelled a lot I would say that this should be priced no more that 30/night. Plastic cups in the bathroom, flimsy shower curtain, basic wardrobe, wonky shower and charging 70+ a night! Who in this day and age provides accommodation with maroon coloured bedding and chocolate brown towels may well have been clean but it's not 1970!

Review 47:The room was nothing like the photo very dated ànd two small single beds that every time you rolled over you nearly fell out of it.

Review 48:Good cooked breakfast

Review 49:Very strong 'damp' smell in en suite but told it is being addressed.

Review 50:Convenient location. Nice touch with chocs on folded towel & v.g. sausages & bread with breakfast. Plenty of hot water.

Review 51:Uncomfortable Bed , Smelly bathroom due to water leakage..A very dull room with little furniture. A minute TV. Breakfast only served between 8am and 9am although the food was good the bar area in which it was served was just as grim as the room.

Review 52:Dismal, room tired and lacking. No comfortable chairs, bed springs creaked, no headboard. Breakfast no choices just fried and served as was. Left after one night and consider Woolpack owe us for the other night.

Review 53:Close to Chichester and Bosham

Review 54:horrendous air freshener smell in the room no hot water, so could not have shower,no headboard and nothing matched even the mugs

Review 55:close to chichester and goodwood

Review 56:It was obvious there had been some problems with damp in the accommodation unit. The smell was awful particularly in the bathroom. It was part of a birthday gift for a friend, so very disappointing. I doubt I will go back

Review 57:No bad experience whatsoever.

Review 58:Really enjoyed it here. The locals and staff were extremely friendly and the room was clean, quiet and spacious. Lovely breakfast and not too far from the station, the Roman Palace and wonderful Chichester Harbour.

Review 59:The bedlinen was dirty and although we were given another room forsecond night we were treated rudely on departure. . . I handed key inand lady was silent. . . Not goodbye or thank you for staying . . .?

Review 60:The breakfast was excellent fresh and hot

Review 61:pub itself dirty dark and like going back to 1950s without the smoke! Garden and interior photos in website must have been taken years ago and very misleading. Grossly overpriced for unacceptable standard of facilities. Would never stay there again and considering taking further action to claim compensation.

Review 62:nothing to commend it

Review 63:No food available on Sunday evening and there didn't appear to be very much close by. We were told we could order a takeaway but would have to eat it in the room.

Review 64:Inferior property with sub standard facilities. The price we paid for our room was outrageous. Only saving grace was The Old Greenhouse Restaurant across the street

Review 65:The pub has definitely seen better days and the pictures posted are obviously very old. They call the rooms "suites" - no way. Our double room was two singles pushed together and you could feel the springs in the mattress! Didn't bother with breakfast as we just wanted to get away from the place.

Review 66:Very basic accommodation in a block with about 8-10 rooms. Our room smelt very strongly of cats pee. Although supposed to stay and had paid for 2 nights, could not face the 2nd night in such a smelly room. No staff available when we left so just had to leave the key.

Review 67:Nothing.

Review 68:No hot water in the morning which seems a regular occurrence. Very uncomfortable mattress. Noisy neighbours, but that's hardly the hotel's fault.

Review 69:A pleasant little pub with decent bar food. Well situated for Chichester and Portsmouth.

Review 70:We stayed in the 'Nero' room. It was a nice twin room with plenty of hanging/storage space, hair dryer, tea making facities. The only minus to all this was the stench from the bathroom pipe work. We slept with the windows open but it was so strong we could still smell it

Review 71:The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the best breakfasts ever

Review 72:The room was pleasant & clean on arrival but a bad smell of drainsfrom the toilet. The next day our cups were left dirty in sink, sheet notsmoothed on bed Duvet just pulled over, bathroom bin not emptied &large window left open( ground floor)security not thought about.Ownernot really interested.

Review 73:The breakfast was very good both quantity & quality & served"with a smile "

Review 74:Room had horribly strong smell of synthetic air-freshener. Hot water for shower in the morning ran out. Breakfast tables sticky with beer from the previous night.

Review 75:Quirky bath-towel "sculptures" with some chocolates. Short history of a Roman emperor for each room.

Review 76:Noise during the night from some other guests which was very disturbing

Review 77:Breakfast was very good Only a 20 minute walk into town centre Room away from the main building in a separate annexe

Review 78:The place was terrible. Our room smelt of damp and cheap air freshener. Sheets barely fitted bed so ended up sleeping on mattress cover by middle of night. Had extremely noisy group of men also staying who woke us up shouting and laughing at 1.30 in morning which went on until 3.30. could not leave place fast enough, truly horrible

Review 79:Nothing at all

Review 80:Rooms are very basic, bed is hard, shower in poor condition & loud noise from other "in mates".

Review 81:Good location for the A27, free car park, food is good "Pub Grub".

Review 82:Soap container in shower not maintained.

Review 83:Proximity to Roman Palace. Separate bedrooms block to inn. Convenient and free car parking. Friendly staff and bar staff.

Review 84:Awful! Damp smelly room. Cheap furnishings. Strong smell of disinfectant. Mouldy pipes, noisy aircon. Thin walls. Extremely overpriced for shoddy room/facilities. And so far no response to complaint to management, after 2 weeks!

Review 85:The breakfast

Review 86:The beds must be the most uncomfortable I have slept in. The mattress and pillows were as hard as rock.

Review 87:Conveniently located. Inexpensive. Substantial breakfast.

Review 88:No plug for basin, toilet seat was broken, water not very hot, I will say that the problems we had were quickly resolve.

Review 89:Location was Good, staff were friendly,

Review 90:The bathroom was infested wiht black mould and the smell filled the room when we left the bathroom door open. The bed was not very comfortable.

Review 91:Breakfast

Review 92:décor was rather tired needed redecorating , Wi-Fi was differcult to get on to

Review 93:staff were good and helpful , food was fine / it was comfortable , and bathroom shower was easy to use

Review 94:The attitue of the management they didn't even atempt to say sorry for the toilet situation it was almost as if we were an inconvenience to them. We had our television removed on the grounds of it being broken so we asked for another one and was told it wasn't something they kept in stock & as looked like it had fallen on it's front it was removed for our safety well funny cos it was already broken when we checked in and that didn't seem to bother them then and neither did the live plug socket coming out of the wall, or infact the said toilet because that clearly was on ongoing issue as the room stank of damp!!

Review 95:The 2 young chamber maids (Male & Female), we had a problem with our toilet it was filling up all night and and it sounded like Niagra Falls we didn't get a wink of sleep and the 2 members of staff the next day was very appologetic and really tried to help us! I will also say that the breakfast on Saturday Morning was very good!

Review 96:Stayed here for a wedding nearby.... Ideal for its purpose but quite possibly the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in!

Review 97:Girl behind the bar very friendly :) Tea and coffee facilities in the room were good

Review 98:pub a bit spit and sawdust - not a place would choose for an evening meal.

Review 99:good accom. in convenient position for visiting the many local interesting places.

Review 100:The smell (cheap carpet shampoo), the check in, the lack of knowledge re food available, the old bed

Review 101:Breakfast, the effort made to make the bed look nice, the shower.

Review 102:The rooms are a bit sterile. A few pictures on the walls would brighten it up considerably. There was a slight damp smell in the room.

Review 103:Breakfast. Although this place has some mixed reviews it was cheap and cheerful. No real complaints.

Review 104:I feel the price was exaggerated with 40% discount as no way would I have wanted to pay anymore

Review 105:the location was just what we wanted as we didn't know the area

Review 106:Rooms smelt damp. Beds lumpy and so noisy. Used tissue on floor in bathroom behind bin. The shower was very high, no grab rails and the shower curtain rested inside the tray. When wet it would have been slippery and we didn't risk it.

Review 107:Pretty pub, very nice landlord and hearty breakfast. Woolfest music festival was on and as guests, we had free entry and parking space was kept for us. Wonderful music and atmosphere, and all for local charities.

Review 108:Uncomfortable beds with plastic covered mattresses. No hot water in morning and bathroom in need of refurbishment. No wifi in rooms or DVD/CD players which were mentioned in description.

Review 109:Handy location near to road network and Chichester.

Review 110:Actually nothing I didn't like.

Review 111:Room very clean and the bed was very comfortable - good nights sleep! Lovely garden which was a bonus being the hottest day of the year - plenty of shade with all the lovely trees.

Review 112:Far too expensive for the standard of accommodation, very tired requires complete overhaul. Shower faulty no hot water!

Review 113:Breakfast and location for our event ideal. Friendly staff.

Review 114:It began with a bed that had not been changed from the last occupants, to a dispute over whether we could have our salad on a separate plate or whether we had to have it on the same (hot) plate as our carvery meal to being told the wrong time for when the cooked breakfast finished and the chef not believing what we had been told, to the manager who clearly was not in the least bit bothered about any of this. He promised to get back to us on the Tuesday after our stay, needless to stay we dare still waiting! This is the worst place We have ever stayed in! What really got to us is that the manager, who us also part of the family who own the pub, clearly was not bothered and never had any intention of offering any small gesture of compensation St all, he didn't even offer a complimentary drink when we had to vacate our room so that the bed could be changed. This place really does not deserve custom so be warned!

Review 115:Close to road for getting into Chichester

Review 116:The room was over priced. The room was damp with absolutley no extras ie: no shampoo or shower gel in the bathroom dispenser, a paper bath mat. Very average certainly not worth 4 times the usual price!!!!!!!

Review 117:We left a message for the manager to call us (there was no oneavailable at check out) as it saddens me to leave feedback this way -but no response. Our room was so damp that the sheets and towels felt wet. We had no hot water during our stay. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The television was broken and displayed an Argos error message. The 'decal' on the wall had been drawn on the wall in felt tip pen and was gaudy and tasteless (the word 'Love' with a red heart around it. It was Goodwood weekend so we paid a premium granted but £250 (TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS?!) for no hot water and a damp ridden room is just disgraceful.

Review 118:Mattress on bed very squeaky. Every time I turned in sleep squeaks woke me up.

Review 119:Relaxing atmosphere. Ample food. Good choice of drinks. Breakfast bar plentiful. Breakfast chef quick.

Review 120:the place is not quite up to what I mean a B&B should be.worn and noisy. Partypub with rooms attached..not central at all and not far enough out to be special to other than locals partying or those in need.

Review 121:The friendly staff and a good breakfast.

Review 122:Tired shabby pub and accommodation, shower base held together with gaffa tape, Mainly Used by builders working in area, noisy early am, Bed not good quality.

Review 123:Breakfast good value and plenty of it. Room size good.

Review 124:It was very expensive. Shabby. Basic. And breakfast wasn't the best. No choice of tea. And staff obviously new better than to ask if everything was alright.

Review 125:It was close to location of where I needed to be.

Review 126:Stood like a lemon while the lady could not findy booking . The son then ce down after I had been waiting for some considerable time and found booking. He did take 5.00 off for inconvenience but I had been told by the lady there was wifi in my room. Got to room to find no info about wifi or anything. And no wifi so I could not do business from my room. Had to drive in evening to find a suitable place to do some work.

Review 127:Location to area

Review 128:The carpet in the bedroom was wet, we think it flooded out from shower as it didn't drain very well, but the room did smell "musty".

Review 129:Convenient to reach the other places which were on our agenda.

Review 130:Hi this is not worth the money the beds were hard ended up with a bad back the show was not clean and had tap holding the side on the there was stains on the lamp shade. The pictures on the website look nothing like it does we could here every one else through the walls stay clear .

Review 131:Although the rooms had everything I needed I thought they could do with a bit of a refresh.

Review 132:Convenient location just off the by pass. Bed was also quite comfy.

Review 133:We chose this hotel because of the price, but the is only 1 bus that does go frequent after 6pm. Had to take luggage in to Chichester as it was to much hassle to go back. Not the hotels fault, just something to keep in mind.

Review 134:Tidy rooms, friendly personel.

Review 135:This B&B is situated 3 minutes from some of the nicest and well maintained walking paths around Chichester Harbour, outlining streams, nature trails and Fields an Ideal location.

Review 136:Shower curtain useless. Lack of shelves to put bottles cream etc in bathroom.Dining facilities are antiquated, poor selection of cereals etc.at breakfast.

Review 137:Friendliness of staff
