Reviews for Mistral Hotel

Review 1:This was a very nice hotel with a lovely patio where a wonderful breakfast is served. The staff was very helpful. There is no elevator in the hotel. Our room was smaller than we like. It was quiet and clean and set back from the water. The hotel is located close to restaurants and shops.

Review 2:I would have preferred a shower screen to a curtain and a shelf for my cosmetics etc.

Review 3:The staff were very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the location, the breakfasts were very special and the beds were comfortable. It was a beautiful little hotel and the outside area looked wonderful. Unfortunately, at the end of October, it was too chilly to eat out there but in warmer temperatures, it would be perfect.

Review 4:We've developed a sense of 'home-sickness' since departing.

Review 5:Gorgeous island, gorgeous place, gorgeous owners, gorgeous staff, gorgeous breakfasts.

Review 6:Excellent location: easy walk to port but quiet. Beautiful garden where wonderful multi-course breakfasts are served. Staff goes to great lengths to be helpful. Charming, charming, charming! Our favourite stay while traveling in Greece for 23 days.

Review 7:Based on reviews we expected a lot and our stay lived up to expectations. Location is in the back streets which we liked as a little quieter and enabled you to explore more back streets of Hydra than you might otherwise. The breakfasts were amazing and huge, different each day, which meant that you didn't need lunch! Staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the loft room which was huge with an amazing view from terrace. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 8:Breakfast was served until 10, but the woman at the front desk (co-owner?) seemed quite displeased when we arrived at 9:48, making a point to tell us everyone else had already had breakfast (though she did lend us a mask and snorkel later that morning). A fairly large centipede (stinging kind) crawled out from under the dresser our first night. The floor didn't seem especially clean.

Review 9:Quaint and picturesque facility with lovely, lush courtyard. Fabulous fresh breakfast, with kind and charming chef (owner?). Not far from the port, but far enough to be removed from the noise.

Review 10:Permanent noise from the outer air conditioner just under the balcony, so we should've keep the door closed.

Review 11:The hotel is very close to the port, fabulous breakfast, nice staff

Review 12:Too short a stay, great hotel on a beautiful island.

Review 13:Mistral Hotel is a great hotel to stay at, nothing but good comments on our entire stay. Excellent, if large breakfast and staff very obliging with any requests. Very clean and comfortable room with view over the courtyard. All the staff were very helpful and made our stay an utter delight. Highly recommend staying here.

Review 14:1. The air conditioning was minimal (this was August, so the stuffy room was uncomfortable for sleeping). 2. The huge breakfast was lovely to look at but was actually more food than any of us would have eaten at an evening meal. We nibbled on bits of it but left most of it.

Review 15:convenient location and friendly staff

Review 16:The daily breakfast was great everyday with varied and numerous dishes. The owners were very helpful with any questions we had. The location of the hotel was great as it was close to the hustle and bustle of the port yet far enough away so not disturbed by the noise etc.

Review 17:The hotel was small and very nice. The staff was great...friendly and helpful. The breakfast, included with the price and served in the well shaded courtyard, was probably the best I have ever had at a hotel. The hotel is close to the port. Overall, it was a great experience.

Review 18:TV signal was a bit weak at times and the channel offer scarse for English speakers, but then again, I didn't go to Hydra to watch TV.

Review 19:Great family-run hotel. Very friendly staff. Comfortable room with all the basic facilities. Good location. Big breakfast with daily variations (I only have a small continental breakfast so most was wasted on me but surely appreciated by other travellers). Even when I was told that wi-fi was only available in the common areas, I was probably lucky to get signal without problem from inside my room (last one in the top floor).

Review 20:Nothing not to like!!

Review 21:Jennie and Theo are wonderful hosts. Theo is a marvelous cook/chef and the breakfasts are delicious (and enormous!) - enough to see us through most of the day! The breakfast menu changes daily; we never had the same breakfast twice the four days we stayed there. Our room was immaculate and extremely comfortable with windows overlooking the lovely, cobblestone courtyard and garden. The plantings are lush and when you walk through the gates, one truly feels like you have escaped to a little piece of paradise.

Review 22:I have got no bad comments. The wi-fi is only working in the hotel lobby.

Review 23:The hotel is very close to the harbour and it is a very nice old house turned into a hotel. The breakfast is fantastic ! The owner and the stuff is very helpful. A very choice for your stay on Hydra.

Review 24:The breakfast is extraordinary: fresh, homemade, creative, varied, and served in a lovely courtyard. Beautifully aesthetic, clean, peaceful hotel that we love returning to.

Review 25:No wifi access in the room but available in the foyer. The room safe was overly complicated and we made a mistake setting it up and had to seek help.

Review 26:This hotel is well placed in central Hydra but is quiet at night. Lovely floral courtyard with spectacular open air breakfasts. Cool marble interior with spacious rooms.

Review 27:Jenny and Theophilo run an A-1 place here. From the first glance through the patio garden (where the SCRUMPTIOUS breakfast is served every morning), one can feel the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere of this place. And if you should be out late and have to come in with a key, the classical music, candles, lighting, and tasteful decor in the downstairs living area remind you that this place is well cared for and you are a treasured guest. I also liked that someone met us at the dock when we arrived and transported our luggage while showing us the way to the hotel.

Review 28:It was fun finding this boutique hotel up a curvy cobblestone road from the port. It was convenient and quiet with great amenities. The breakfast was amazing! Well worth the value!

Review 29:Bathroom Cramped and a bit in need of a re-fresh

Review 30:Good location for port Maria at reception - delightful and helpful and through sheer kindness gave us a complimentary breakfast.

Review 31:-I would expect wifi to be available to every room. It is easy to achieve that and costs almost nothing. -The bed mattress was harder than I am used to.

Review 32:-Clean and spacious room -Very nice, quiet location in the city -Helpful and friendly owners -Excellent breakfast, different every day.

Review 33:The top quilt was thick and heavy, it kept me warm and snug-hand made perhaps in the area. The weight for me was a bit overwhelming.

Review 34:The breakfast had to rate among the very best I have ever had! The garden beautiful and inviting! Room spacious and comfortable. Great view from my window! Staff friendly and helpful!

Review 35:There is nothing I could find to say in this category

Review 36:Very friendly staff and extremely comfortable room with free wifi The breakfast was enormous with home made bread and Apricot jam on the first morning accompanied by an omelette and fresh tomatoes and olives as well as tea and coffee We also had home made yoghurt and home made Apple Tart The second morning was a repeat of above with some variation. The total experience was incredibly good. I am happy to suggest this hotel as a must for anyone who waists a special Hydra experience

Review 37:The beds were a little hard but The rest of the experience made up for this.we all had a lovely time and highly recommend this hotel.

Review 38:The hotel was a little out of town which was great. Easy walk to town and the waterfront. Very well marked with signs boat leading to the hotel. The staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms were clean and tidy. The common rooms were beautiful. The outside patio was gorgeous and that's where we ate our breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was outstanding. All homemade items

Review 39:It's a great hotel! Staff and owners are very hospitable. The hotel is clean, boutique, with own unforgettable atmosphere. The location is very convеnient . The breakfast is wonderful. We had a very nice stay here.I would warmly recommend this hotel to all my friends.

Review 40:the bathroom : could be renovated the welcome : the owner is not friendly In such a nice place we expect more smile, more exchange but her husband is very friendly and the staff too

Review 41:the location Very close to the port but calm the atmosphere hotel de charme the breakfast : delicious

Review 42:Matress could have been more comfortable.

Review 43:immaculately clean hotel, large room with a great view. Fabulous breakfast area with a great breakfast. Welcoming staff.

Review 44:All good, really.

Review 45:I liked them, Jenny is my kind of gal. Dry, funny, helpful. Adorable simple hotel. Too much breakfast! Amazing variety. Get up early and work up an appetite. ;)

Review 46:That we only had 3 days and nights. We could have stayed longer!

Review 47:Theofilos and Jenny treated us like family. Theofilos cooked impressive breakfasts and shared recipes. We were never hungry! Jenny arranged our departure by water taxi and suggested a better route than the lengthy one we'd planned. Artemis, at the reception desk brought us afternoon drinks and appetizers in the private courtyard garden. A plus is the rooftop terrace where we sat late at night to see the town, the harbor below and the hills dotted with evening house lights. Theofilos even recommended great restaurants for dinner!

Review 48:It was near downtown, but out of the noise and bustle of the port; The couple who owns it are very fun, helpful and always smiling. The other guests were pleasant. Breakfast was substantial, varied and tasty. It almost felt like you had a personal maid in your room. If your wet clothes are on the floor, you find them hanging on the line.

Review 49:This isn't really a negative, the breakfast was substanital and filling but a little odd (culturally for a U.K visitor). Dishes are randomly brought to your table, we started with hot tomato soup, followed by Olives with Oragano and Cherry tomatos with Oragano. Then a spinach and cheese pastry, a sweet pastry, melon, chocolate mouse, coffee and tea a-plenty. I guess I enjoyed it actually, but it seemed a little confused. The staff are friendly and great.

Review 50:Hydra is beautiful, this Guesthouse is beautiful, great location, friendly staff. Good value for money. We had a standard double room, the accomodation is basic, but adequate. The Guesthouse has a lovely terrace. Recommended.

Review 51:This is a lovley guest house with a friendly, homey feel. We got treated very well by all the staff who provide excellent service (always with a smile!) and had the best breakfast I have possibly ever had in a hotel. It is in a calm area, in the middle of the old part of town (rather then by the sea) but is in a historic building full of charm which extends to the rooms and general feeling of the place. We had an amzing stay.

Review 52:No view from the room, aircon blowing streight at the bed and the bed fairly hard.

Review 53:Hotel staff are friendly, location is fine, rooms are clean and the breakfast vey good.

Review 54:Our room was not very large and with a view on a narrow court yard.

Review 55:The hotel is in a very good location. It has a beautiful patio where they serve a fantastic breakfast (a lot of fresh and home made dishes, better than many luxury accomodations). The owners are very kind.

Review 56:Wifi only in common areas

Review 57:The owners: she is a severe, kind and very efficient manager; he is a fantastic breakfast cooker... The water boiler in the room for my early nescafè: I asked to add it as an extra, and it was given freely to me!

Review 58:Our 6 night stay at the Mistral was just wonderful. The location is in a quiet street but close to the port and all the attractions that Hydra town offers. We were met at the port as we arrived at the island to pick up our luggage. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was extraordinary: Hand made special dishes every morning in abundance. One cute thing was that since I am pregnant, we had one more piece of everything. Also the hotel owner (who I suppose is the creator of these wonderful breakfasts) went out of his way and changed his program and included his special cheese pie, because we briefly mentioned him about my pastry cravings. What a great gesture! We are truly grateful! We would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there, if we make it to Hydra again.

Review 59:nothing really

Review 60:Friendly staff, great location, large rooms, cute breakfast in a lovely garden!!! Hydra is a lovely island perfect for relaxing and enjoying your time.

Review 61:The doors (of the room and the bathroom) needed some effort to close. There was no space to put the sea towels and swimming suits to dry.

Review 62:The property is very beautiful. The room was nice and clean, sunny although there wasn't any view, and comfortable enough. The staff was very polite and friendly. The breakfast was homemade, quite imaginative, tasty and hearty.

Review 63:The owners and staff went out of their way to make all guests welcome and extremely helpful in advice on how to enjoy the island of Hydra. Breakfasts prepared on site were marvelous. The hotel was recommended by a friend who had stayed 1 year previously. It lived up to his rave review. The decor (paintings, antiques and artifacts) were superb, garden courtyard beautiful, well maintained. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 64:The garden patio is lovely and it creates a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel maintains a quiet and serene atmosphere, making making an ideal contrast to the bustle and noise of the harbor front only a short distance away.

Review 65:Not a thing, I rate Mistral 10/10

Review 66:Fabulous welcome, beautiful room with gorgeous linen and artwork, fantastic breakfast served under the wisteria canopy with great music playing. Fabulous restaurant nearby. Hydra is a gorgeous island.

Review 67:Bed was hard and 1 pillow per person was thin and also hard. Breakfast was extensive but weird things served for the time of day e.g. vine leaves, creme Brulee, soup???? Windows opened by cleaning staff that allowed mosquitoes in. (We had a room over the garden)

Review 68:air conditioning worked well and hotel is in a quiet area. nicely furnished with very pleasant courtyard outside
