Reviews for The Tally Ho Hotel - B&B

Review 1:Room was not totally cleaned after previous occupant..... Plate of half eaten food and dirty glass greeted me

Review 2:Nice quiet location, spacious room, friendly staff

Review 3:we had the second floor room, it was not very convenient for the us two girls to carry everything up and down ourselves . The staff did help us to carry out stuff up to our room since we arrived early and went straight to the outland village. We didn't have a car, it's £10-£11 pound a trip from the station to B&B and another £11 if you wish to take the taxi to the outlet village. It was a last minute booking so we don't really have that much to complain expect being placed on the second floor. However, I wouldn't pay £109 if it wasn't the last minute. It also really depends on the purpose of the individuals.

Review 4:we like the the room with the comfy bed and that spacious bathroom . The service was alright. Good breakfast.

Review 5:nothing really bad about the hotel , it served the purpose we wanted , breakfast was ok .and staff were friendly

Review 6:close to Bister village shopping outlet so very convenient , nice bar in the hotel, to be fair the weather was terrible so didn't get to see the hotel at its best

Review 7:None that spring to mind. The room was not ready when we arrived which was no big deal we just went to the bar and had a drink whilst it was being cleaned

Review 8:The Staff were welcoming and friendly. The Hotel was clean and tidy the room was nice and warm. Had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was very well cooked. The Hotel has a very good chef.

Review 9:The orange juice - we don't think there were any oranges involved!!

Review 10:The room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable The staff were welcoming and pleasant

Review 11:There was no light in the bathroom! and no bath plug for the bath! we contacted the reception who sent two people immediately. The light was traced to an intermittent fault with either wiring or strip light itself. They offered to move us to another room, but we said it was OK as we had already unpacked. We put a table lamp in the bathroom and I had already packed a large torch. I think of everything! The foreign speaking other young person didn't understand what a bath plug was, so we showed him. He then got one straight away. The wine in the restaurant was very expensive for what it was.

Review 12:The room was very clean and tidy and totally suited our overnight stay.

Review 13:Bar and restaurant not available on Friday eve due to private function. Had to stop for meal on way so arrived very late ( 10.45pm) Not appropriate for full paying guests. Cold water from a bath tap is a basic requirement ... This should have been checked before we arrived as it was late on in our weekend to report it.

Review 14:Perfect location for function we attended on Sunday

Review 15:the lady that checked us out was rude, we also had no idea the bar and restaurant was closed for the evening which we would have paid more to stay somewhere else

Review 16:Very slow internet connection. I really did not like that 2 beds where pushed together because I could feel the split in the middle and it affected my sleep

Review 17:Staff friendly. Enjoyed the dining area. Food was good and I would recommend it to others.

Review 18:Gazebo area was dirty.

Review 19:Loved the apartment style buildings with parking at your room. Enjoyed the gazebo/pond area. Bedroom was lovely and big with a comfy bed. Excellent chips from the room service menu!

Review 20:As a group we had attended a midweek wedding and requested a later breakfast on a Friday morning. Their timings are 7 to 9am (which we think is an early finish as most hotels go to 10) but they could not accommodate. Otherwise a good hotel.

Review 21:Lovely setting and very friendly staff. Rooms very spacious.

Review 22:Lovely place! Bed was comfy and having your own little front door was great. I can't lie, I had a steaming hangover the next day and couldn't eat my breakfast (although hubs said it was gorgeous) but the man serving got me a huge pint of water and kept me topped up with toast until I was feeling almost human again. I'd definitely come back again.

Review 23:Food and drink drink bit expensive but it was good quality so I suppose you get what you pay for. Wifi was very very very slow. Borderline unusable.

Review 24:Really nice staff, room was clean and comfortable. Great parking and the limited facilities were very good.

Review 25:I would have liked more choice of evening meal, I wanted something with salad and there was only an al a carte menu with 4 choices, none of which suited my need. That said, it was easy enough to go out and get something

Review 26:The self contained 'flat' feel

Review 27:Room in need of update. Badly in need of dusting, big cobwebs on the ceiling. Mould on shower head & around bath.

Review 28:Good sized room. Very comfortable bed.

Review 29:Despite advertising free WiFi it was impossible to connect to it and there was no mobile data signal either. I felt a little intimidated being on my own as there were groups of workers everywhere I went. I ate here for my evening meal and although this was fine (tomato soup and salmon) the breakfast next morning was a different story. I ordered scrambled eggs, black pudding, bacon and beans ....... the scrambled eggs were rubbery (felt like they had been cooked for about 10mins in microwave), I was chewing the bacon for about 5 mins and don't even start me on the black pudding. It came in small balls and was full of huge lumps of fat and the wrapping was even through the mixture.

Review 30:The rooms were very spacious and clean

Review 31:Staff very friendly and ready to go the extra mile to accommodate my friend's vegetarian needs... they chef made a veggie sausage for her! I am impressed...:)

Review 32:Disappointed only sandwiches or burger on offer for eve meal, but close to other pubs and restaurants so not much of a problem.

Review 33:Quiet location a short distance to Bicester, Oxford and Aylesbury. Excellent breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 34:Arrived mid afternoon having booked online the day before. Waited 25 minutes before anyone appeared. Rang bell many times and even made a call from my mobile phone. Eventually someone showed up and made a half hearted appology, and seemed quite offended when my wife said that she had read the newspaper and sat in the garden while waiting. Pointed us in the direction of our outside room and then vanished again.!!!

Review 35:Comfortable room. Breakfast OK but nothing outstanding. Friendly and helpful waitress.

Review 36:Its more like a Motel, the rooms are in in other buildings so you are detached from the main building. This is not a great negative though. The Bar/Restaurant is a bit soulless, could do with a bit more character.

Review 37:Staff were very helpful and approachable

Review 38:We stay here as often as we can - cheaper than Premier Inn (so much for TV prices !) and breakfast is much better - cooked to order instead of conjealing under a ban marie all morning !!

Review 39:Only bar food available and a limited range. The place seemed empty - we were the only ones eating that evening! We wondered why when all the other hotels in Bicester were full up.

Review 40:Friendly, helpful staff and the place was nice.

Review 41:Car park was covered in clay which when arriving in the dark at night was not easy to see. Got this stuck to sole of shoes and inevitably onto carpet in room. Car park surface should be cleaned up.

Review 42:Helpful staff and peaceful location.

Review 43:room door faces the corridor. breakfast should be included in the room price.

Review 44:located in a park, near a lake, it is quiet and beautiful. breakfast is good.

Review 45:The restaurant was massively overpriced and had a very limited choice. On top of that the bar / restaurant is soulless. The accomodation was good but if I stayed there again I would eat elsewhere before arrival.

Review 46:Friendly, pleasant staff.

Review 47:road noise standing outside in the morning waiting to check out When booking I asked for a quiet room. Seems this wasn't read. Woken 4 or 5 times during the night

Review 48:the actual room was ok if a little dated

Review 49:Excellent location, the style, design and size of the room were superb. The staff were very helpful even though I didn't ask for help. (Directions into Oxford to miss traffic) All round great experience!

Review 50:Badly broken bath panel, all walls very badly marked and damaged, carpet well trodden and in need of replacing. General freshen up and maintenance required.

Review 51:Clean sheets, comfy bed and pillows, bathroom toiletries a plenty. Biscuits in room and big screen digital tv. Very spacious room.

Review 52:Stains on the carpet and cracks in the bath side panel. Both things easy to fix and would finish things off nicely in an otherwise neat and tidy hotel.

Review 53:Staff, food, quiet room, location (near Bicester).

Review 54:Some staff made us feel a little unwelcome and especially rushed to finish breakfast and check out on our day of departure. Despite check out time being recorded as 11.30am at 10.30am we had staff knocking on the door asking if they could come in to clean. When we replied no were still packing she then responded by saying are you staying another night otherwise you only have 1 hour..... In addition to this the hotel was closed during the days of the weekend for a wedding which we were attending and another the following day. This meant we were unable to get a drink or snack from the bar throughout the day until the function started in the evening. When we asked for a cup of tea the member of staff became stressed and very reluctant as she needed to watch reception (despite the fact that she had been sitting on the phone making a personal for at least an hour!!).

Review 55:The size of the rooms, beds and ensuite is fantastic. The function room and garden is lovely. Breakfast was very tasty too! Staff during the wedding were very attentive and very eager to do everything right on time.

Review 56:The extractor fan in the bathroom perhaps wasn't powerful enough. After showering the humidity in the bathroom remained high, as a consequence the towels didn't dry properly when hanging up. Perhaps they could have been replaced the next day.

Review 57:Attitude of staff was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The size of the room was such that two could move around easily and there was plenty of wardrobe space. Breakfasts were good and the food in the restaurant at night was excellent. The location was quiet but within easy reach of main routes. The motel style of the hotel meant that you could park outside the "front door" to your room.

Review 58:Felt it was really overpriced at 180.00. Some mould in the tiles around the bath. Little bit difficult to find but again maybe that's just me! Would visit again if price was better

Review 59:Staff were friendly, breakfast very nice. Nice sized room but bed too hard but that can't be held against the tally ho as we all have our own preferences. Good tea making facilities. Good car parking.

Review 60:very close to Bicester village shopping, nice bar and food with friendly staff

Review 61:Good Breakfast

Review 62:Big room with lots of storage space . Spotless !

Review 63:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Evening meal generous proportions. Good size rooms.

Review 64:All round comfort, relaxed, perfect

Review 65:Staff great nice big clean room.

Review 66:Man upstairs banging on outer door 11.30 at night then coughing his heart out at 6am waking us up on both occasions.

Review 67:Location,parking,staff.

Review 68:The layout of the hotel, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Review 69:Nothing

Review 70:Ideal for a Relaxing break with great food at the resturant

Review 71:Quilt on bed was very thin and wonder in winter if in winter it would be warm enough

Review 72:Staff were very professional but friendly

Review 73:The loud music until 12.15am from the party that was being held there.

Review 74:Poor mobile phone reception in rooms (however the peace was very welcome)

Review 75:Fantastic hotel. Would most definitely stay there again.

Review 80:The wi -fi was not good at all.

Review 81:The room was comfortable and staff was very helpful.

Review 82:Wifi not that good at times

Review 83:Good friendly staff good location good size room

Review 84:no food or bar available on Saturdays so have to go out again.

Review 85:comfortable and clean room

Review 86:not really a bad experience but room furniture and décor could do with a revamp

Review 87:Wifi is very slow. Would have been willing to pay for premium wifi, if it was available.

Review 88:Pleasant room and friendly staff.

Review 89:Wifi connection by ISP very slow/poor (sub 90k), local connection fine, it was just the ISP speed

Review 90:Décor a little dated.

Review 91:Very quiet, very spacious room with good facilities and very clean. Delicious breakfast. Able to park outside the room.

Review 92:Dining room a little dull Wifi not good

Review 93:Great value for money Clean & comfortable rooms Food very nice Service excellent

Review 94:Clearly aimed at the "wedding Market" . Lacks the comfort feel and dining room cramped with "canteen"ambience.

Review 95:We've stayed here a few times and we have enjoyed it every time. Clean and spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Fab breakfast

Review 96:Pricey for what you get and the standard of the hotel. However it was a last minute booking.
