Reviews for Chycara
Review 1:Breakfast, a bit on the skimpy side. The payment card machine was broken down, had to pay by cash - luckily I had some on me.
Review 2:Comfortable room, warm and nice spacious on suite. The grounds were well kept and flowers were in bloom in the middle of January.
Review 3:very confused by TV remote controls - some instructions would be useful, some unwelcome noise from next room's bathroom fan
Review 4:Sue and David happy to accommodate our late arrival and large van. Breakfast excellent, room and bed very comfortable. Loved the sound of tawny owls in the garden.
Review 5:It was one of the most delightful places I've stayed at in a very long time. The whole experience was like being a valued, private guest in a rather splendid country manor.
Review 6:Only thing for here is there is no food in the evenings available however this is easily rectified by visiting the local restaurants. A small concern.
Review 7:Overall, just an excellent place to stay.
Review 8:Need to sort post code issue
Review 9:This establishment is set in some really nice grounds, away from everything, really relaxing and with the pool and facilities a great little hide away, staff were fantastic, room was clean and comfortable , breakfast was sound, would like to go back again for a pleasure trip
Review 10:We rarely felt so welcome and at home in a hotel or B&B as here. The location, the room and the people where just perfect for our stay in Cornwall. The location feels remote but is close to towns and restaurants to which our nightly rides quickly turned into a night safari on which we saw badgers, foxes and owls.
Review 11:Our only issue, if you can call it that, is that the pool is occupied for such a long period of time over the weekend for swimming lessons meaning the pool, hottub and sauna are off limits for residents.
Review 12:The lodges are set in lovely grounds, the staff are great, in particular Catherine was really helpful. It's a great location to stay if you are exploring Cornwall, with Falmouth just a short drive away.
Review 13:The host greeted us at the door, showed us our accommodation and offered us tea. The B & B was very comfortable with a private sitting room for guests and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. She recommended restaurants for us and gave us perfect directions to them. Breakfast was fantasti
Review 14:Difficult to find if you don't know the area, Sat nav's do not pick up the location so maybe a signpost would help
Review 15:Warm welcome when we arrived after our long journey from Kent it was very much appreciated to be brought a cup of tea on our arrival.Lovely choice of breakfast
Review 16:Bit pricey & disappointed we couldn't use pool
Review 17:Lovely location beautiful grounds very spacious comfy lodge bit disappointed as picked lodge for kids to use pool but this was booked out for swimming lessons the whole 3 day stay so couldn't use so we paid premium for facility we didn't use
Review 18:The hotel was lovely and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Willing to answer any questions we had. The grounds were beautiful. We would definitely stay again.
Review 19:Tom and Daphne (the cats) were purrfect! Loved Chycara - so warm and welcoming with attention to every little detail. Comfortable beds, tea and coffee in the room, sitting room with lots of books and games. Lots of choice for breakfast, beautifully cooked and presented. Home from home.
Review 20:I guess if I had to pick something, Ideally I'd like a super modern bathroom...
Review 21:Owners were very welcoming, friendly. The house has such a lot of soul, interesting decor/ornaments lighting etc. Breakfast was awesome- locally sourced and delicious. Next visit I'll definitely take advantage of the lovely indoor pool!
Review 22:Made to feel as if I was part of the family! Lovely house and grounds. So sorry I was unable to stay for longer. I will certainly return for longer next time.
Review 23:a few issues that ultimately didn,t spoil our stay but if not encountered would have led to much higher score. The swimming pool was a nice extra however in one corner of the pool the tiling was coming away and didnt look good. There was a lot of dust in the guest living room and although the breakfast was nice there was limited cereal choice and the breakfast was not too filling ( sausages very thin- personal choice )
Review 24:characterful property with spacious and lovely guest living room, hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Allowed to view the lodges. peaceful with lovely grounds, a very relaxing stay
Review 25:Lake lodge was HUGE. The owners were very friendly, despite our late arrival. The lodge was enormous, far bigger than we were expecting, & utterly lovely. In the morning we saw the amazing view we had of the lake from our veranda. We didn't have time to try the pool or tennis court.
Review 26:Excellent stay at this beautiful venue. The grounds are stunning. Room was more than adequate. Will certainly stay here again if ever in area again
Review 27:The bed was adjacent to the next room's bathroom and you could hear every WC flush, water running through pipes to refill the cistern I could hear the shower running along with normal talking. This woke me several times. Plus they forgot my Hogs pudding :-(
Review 28:It was fair value for money
Review 29:The property was amazing, beautiful well kept acres of garden. Great welcoming couple. Great breakfast and close proximity to many attractions in Cornwall.
Review 30:No complaints, nothing to not like.
Review 31:Relaxed and homely atmosphere. Super hosts who couldn't do enough to ensure our comfort. Bonus was the use of a swimmimg pool and hot tub. Fabulous gardens with free access to explore. Opportunity to book massage therapy sessions on site too. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately return again.
Review 32:Hot tub kept switching off We used it only once
Review 33:Welcoming was personal by the owner. Although we were early we were allowed to check in which made holiday to organise our trip We were guided well by the owner.
Review 34:Wonderful location. Peace and quite. Close to Truro. Lovely hosts. Very helpful. Separate lounge was very nice area. Beautiful grounds, great walking areas.
Review 35:The house is lovely. The grounds are excellent. The breakfast varied and tasty. The hosts very friendly and helpful. Would recommend a stay here - it's relaxing and peaceful and so much more than what one would expect in a B&B
Review 36:David and Linda were very friendly, hospitable and helpful. Lovely clean room and beautiful grounds and gardens to stroll. Fantastic breakfast. No one could complain about anything.
Review 37:What we liked best was the warm, friendly, nothing-too-much-trouble attitude from David and Linda the proprietors. But the breakfasts come a close second.
Review 38:The welcome was lovely and friendly, as were the cats. The facilities were fantastic, easily accessible and available at convenient times throughout the day. The location was peaceful and tranquil.
Review 39:The towels in the en-suite were old and in need of replacement.
Review 40:The ambience of the house was good as it had the feel of a family home, which of course it is. Unfortunately as we were only passing through on our way from Penzance to Grantham we were unable to experience any of the other facilities.
Review 41:This was a great find! Beautiful surroundings tucked away in the countryside in 16 acres. The house and rooms all tastefully presented and spotlessly clean. The owners could'nt have been more pleasant and helpful.Would certainly book again.
Review 42:Only one thing was the pool was only available after swimming lessons
Review 43:Beautiful lodge set in beautiful surroundings. Eveyone was really friendly and welcoming
Review 44:Pool disappointing-very limited access and very much in need of refurbishment
Review 45:Wonderful breakfast and very hospitable owners-always a warm welcome and a cup of tea. Lovely guest lounge.
Review 46:Lack of signal on mobile phone but due to the location this couldn't be afforded and meant the stay was tranquil.
Review 47:Lovely staff - made to feel very welcome
Review 48:The property is a little way out from Truro, down narrow country lanes, which could unsettle some travellers. Locals seem to rush down the lanes, round 'blind' corners etc.
Review 49:Property & it's ground were excellent, as were Linda & her husband, great hosts. Accommodation couldn't be faulted, with everything required for a short stay.
Review 50:The noise transmission is quite noticeable and being an older property. The floorboards creak a great deal. I could hear the conversation of the guest in the room next to me. Remeber to Bring earplugs.
Review 51:Lovely grounds and guestt lounge
Review 52:Unfortunately there was a wedding reception in the grounds on our last night and we were troubles with the noise from the disco. We suggest that the owners don't take in any other guests if there is a wedding reception.
Review 53:The setting of the place - the gardens etc - and the convenience.
Review 54:Beautiful house and comfortable, well furnished room! Wonderful setting and idyllic countryside location - perfect for exploring the local area. Hosts made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed! Breakfast was, of course, delicious with plenty of choices!
Review 55:Chycara is a wonderful B&B. Our room was large with an also large bathroom, everything is spotless and when we arrived we got tea in the garden. There is a sitting room and the breakfast was large and great.
Review 56:Nothing, it was all good.
Review 57:Excellent facilities, great hosts and delightful surroundings highlighted our stay. Access to all of Western Cornwall was easy.
Review 58:Rates on the higher side. Breakfast not offered as an option for guests staying in cottages.
Review 59:Nice, quiet and laidback place in a serene environment. Genuinely friendly folks who run the show.
Review 60:Difficult to find without GPS & needs some larger signage on the lane its on & the major turn off. Due to costs not all international travellers have GPS.
Review 61:Had a wonderfully comfortable stay with great hosts. Central location for Cornwall.
Review 62:The fact an 80ft tree nearly fell on our car....Cornish weather...!!!
Review 63:Warm welcome as soon as we arrived, David and Linda were great hosts, great facilities and not a long drive from Penzance which was the purpose of out stay.
Review 64:A small gripe but the additional travel instructions ( which were a good idea because of Sat Nav problems ) were not accurate at the beginning and could have been somewhat simpler.
Review 65:Large room and bathroom plus separate lounge to use. Beautiful grounds to walk in plus an indoor swimming pool. Lovely owners very helpful and large choice of breakfast combinations.
Review 66:You need to follow the directions carefully, although it is on Google maps
Review 67:Breakfast with other guests, comfortable sitting room and the swimming pool (but check when it is booked out for lessons and things) Good places to eat a short drive away
Review 68:Leaving!
Review 69:Charming hosts, excellent facilities, good choice at breakfast and the whole situated in idyllic surroundings far enough away from the busy towns but within ten minutes drive from Truro. Lovely gardens. Heated swimming pool.
Review 70:Linda and David are perfect hosts! Warm, friendly and relaxed, nothing is too much trouble for them. Their house and the surrounding area is beautiful! A very restful stay. Highly Recommended.
Review 71:There are good places for evening meals but you have to use the car - so no wine with the meal for the driver.
Review 72:Good directions emailed in advance. Nice sitting room. Good breakfast and excellent swimming pool.
Review 73:A really lovely place to stay. Excellent breakfast and Linda and David were so hospitable and welcoming. Amused to find we had several friends in common! A home from home. I hope to return.
Review 74:a bit too buried - had to use the car to get to nearby restaurants.
Review 75:We received a lovely welcome; host and hostess were lovely; house absolutely amazing - worth a visit just to view the house! breakfast was lovely - especially their own eggs. Very quiet at night - lovely. Were shown a lovely lounge to relax in.
Review 76:Nothing.
Review 77:The hosts were so friendly making us feel at home and comfortable throughout our stay. The gardens are beautiful and maintained, perfect for picture oppertunities. The pool is clean and very warm. The hot tub is beyond belief HOT!
Review 78:Chycara is more than just a B&B it possibly the home you dreamed of owning! The feel of this establishment is that you are in fact staying as a guest in a "friends" house. Quality oozes from every facet of the place and the grounds and the facilities are excellent. Breakfast cooked by the owner "David" has got to be believed. The menu is extensive and yes, home produced eggs "do make a difference". Although a little out of Truro it is definitely worth the 15 minute journey out into the beautiful country-side. Recommended!
Review 79:Couldn't use the swimming pool on Sat am as was being used for private lessons, but was free most of the rest of the time
Review 80:Lovely pool, great view from decking, good facilities
Review 81:Nothing
Review 82:Set in an idyllic central location, perfect for exploring the whole of Cornwall. Owners David and Linda are the perfect hosts where nothing is too much trouble. A well appointed B&B with a wide choice for breakfast and an added bonus of a separate lounge room for guests, with smart tv and music / dvd players.
Review 83:The room was a little noisy in the mornings from the room next door but very quiet at night,
Review 84:the location is central for for visiting anywhere in cornwall. the breakfast is second to none.
Review 85:Linda and David were so welcoming, they couldn't do enough. The room was lovely and very comfortable and being able to use the lounge was great rather than having to sit in my room all evening. The pub they recommended for dinner was lovely. Overall a great place to stay.
Review 86:Linda and David were kind wonderful people, extremely helpful, and knowledgable about the local area. The house, it's setting, and the accommodations were delightful.
Review 87:vert nice owner, they gave us some useful accommodation. hearty breakfast and charming sitting room. you can feel free to live in their house and that house is fantastic, btw, they have two lovely cats, and owner is very kind.
Review 88:Our GPS couldn't find it so it took a few attempts at driving up and down dark country lanes. Wifi in the room was patchy at best although it worked perfectly in the main areas.
Review 89:The owners were very welcoming and happy to provide tips about places to visit. The farmhouse is large, but very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are of a good standard and very clean. Bathrooms are also very modern. Breakfast is excellent and prepared to order Overall - we just loved this place!
Review 90:Very nice house, spacy, own library, dvds available in room, hosts very nice, very relaxing, excellent breakfast options, clean and confortable rooms/badrooms
Review 91:This is not a dislike but a warning to read the excellent directions given by the owners as the sat nav will take you in to the nearby village!
Review 92:Set in 16 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside, Chycara is only 4 miles from the Cathedral city of Truro and offers easy access to all the tourist attractions (by car). Very comfortable accommodation and great breakfast. We stayed here over the New Year period and look forward to returning at a different time of year.
Review 93:I got lost when coming from a nearby supermarket, but when I rang the owners they managed to give directions.
Review 94:Excellent service and the owners were very helpful
Review 95:Sat Nav will send you to the wrong place so follow the instructions supplied by Chycara.
Review 96:From the call to confirm my reservation from the moment I said goodbye after a great stay Linda and Dave were very polite and hospitable. The breakfast was first rate and their accommodation more so. Without a doubt it was the very best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at.
Review 97:Nothing to mention, perfect stay
Review 98:Owners very helpful and Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very spacious with top quality furnishings. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and a large lounge was a available to relax in. Heated pool/hot tub was amazing. Fantastic, well worth a visit Breakfast was lovely

Review 100:nothing.
Review 101:Our stay was enhanced, firstly by the setting. The grounds were well-kept and a pleasure to explore.A warm swimming pool was just the job. The owners went out of their way to make us comfortable,to the extent of searching for a suitable mattress to ease my husband's troubled back.So very thoughtful. Breakfast was delicious.
Review 102:I got slightly lost but that is the councils post coding problem not Chycara, please go careful and follow instructions when you arrive.
Review 103:The customer service and politeness of the staff was flawless. I felt welcome from the moment I walked in the door. Fantastic accommodation and brilliant facilities. I was away on business but it felt like a holiday. I am already planning a holiday trip back with my partner. ten out of ten rating.
Review 104:Chycara is in a beautiful spot, the grounds are a joy to wander around. There is the added bonus of a swimming pool, hot tub and massage parlour. The hosts are lovely and the food perfect. What more could you ask for!
Review 105:There was some building repair work starting as I was checking out, which was a little noisy, but this didn't impinge on my stay.
Review 106:I had a terrific 2 night stay at Chycara, Linda and David were wonderful welcoming hosts - who cook up a fantastic and hearty breakfast. The house and grounds are huge, set in a lovely peaceful valley. The bedrooms are a good size and comfortable for a solo traveler or a couple. There are several good pubs where you can go for dinner within 5-10mins drive. Overall I had a terrific stay at the homely Chycara B&B and would thoroughly recommend it.
Review 107:Being just outside Truro, in a quiet country farm house environment, it is a great point to start exploring Cornwall. Most towns / points of interests are within a reasonable travelling distance and time, typically 20 to 45 minutes. Truro is about 10 minutes away.
Review 108:Owner's were delightful and very helpful. Setting was beautiful and refreshing after previously staying in accommodation within townships / cities.
Review 109:Restricted hours in the pool. It was hard to find and then it was easy to get lost as the setting is so rural.
Review 110:Lovely room, bathroom and sitting room. Linda and David were very pleasant and helpful with directions.
Review 111:Nothing, it was fab.
Review 112:The location was perfect and the staff were very friendly and welcoming (including the resident cat). The surroundings of the hotel were stunning, we would definitely stay here again :)
Review 113:nothing
Review 114:everything this B&B advertised twin bedded room which my friend and I needed with an ensuite I put down a mature couple but we were obviously not a married couple
Review 115:Limited service to mobile phone and the TV did not have a service but I was not too bothered by that
Review 116:Very relaxing very quiet it reminded me of a little Port Meirion. Nice ambiance and atmosphere. I wish I could have stayed longer!
Review 117:Nothing!
Review 118:Loved the old house and all the art inside. The gardens were lovely and the welcome was warm and friendly. Rooms had everything we needed and lovely crisp linen. Super breakfast in the morning topped off a great short stopover.
Review 119:Could be difficult to get to by train.
Review 120:I liked my room and especially the ensuite as it had a bath.Good after a long walk. The setting was beautiful and relaxing and Dave and Linda were very friendly.
Review 121:Despite a small double room we had a beautiful stay at Chycara and our hosts and the ambiance in the main house made us feel at home from the first minute. From here you are just in the middle of Cornwall with short drive distances to all its attractions. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice and since all guests sit at a large table we had the perfect chance of exchanging experiences.
