Reviews for County Hotel

Review 1:Fabulously friendly welcome by someone who then remembered our names at breakfast the next day. Very good breakfast. Room is dated but warm, clean and comfortable.

Review 2:Poor shower water flow over bath. Many disabled people would prefer a shower tray and a shower that was effective. Climbing into a bath without sufficient hand rails is a trip too far for many aged people.

Review 3:Value for money.

Review 4:Really Liked the hote.I personally did not quite like the mix of modern period furnishings.fully understand but if turned back close to original it would be stunning.

Review 5:Nice clean hotel. very pleasant staff really made welcome.amazing period mirrors on stairways.

Review 6:The place was spotlessly clean,it was also very warm. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was lovely( + hot!)The location is dead central,5 minute walk to everything.

Review 7:There was only few people staying when we were there so the bar closed from 6pm luckily over the road there was kids pub with soft play and food! Check out should be a bit later than 10am

Review 8:Great place will come back

Review 9:The shower wasn't an enjoyable experience and the bed rolled away from the wall at night.

Review 10:The staff are delightfully jovial, we like a nice happy place, the location was perfect for us, opposite the pier on the beach front. Lovely cooked breakfast.

Review 11:My only problem was the room was far too hot and we couldn't turn down the heating

Review 12:The hotel was a perfect location for the show we were attending.

Review 13:Nothing - everything was lovely

Review 14:The whole experience including value for money, friendliness & helpfulness of management & staff, our room (19), ease of parking, in fact, we enjoyed our experience so much that we stayed for an extra night! The food was lovely & plentiful but we missed breakfast because the bed was so comfortable! This was our first visit to Skegness and our first stay at the County Hotel - we loved it so much that we will definitely be back. We arrived too late for dinner on Sunday night but were pleasantly surprised to find that Ross reduced our bill for the meal that wasn't taken - thanks Ross. Thank you all for a lovely and relaxing break. Sue & Rik.

Review 15:Avery warm and jolly welcome when arriving. The Manager was very helpful when booking in. Plenty of entertainment at the Hotel, which was in a good location for the Towns facilities. The food was excellent and plentiful. Will definitely have a return visit.

Review 19:Loved our stay deffinately will go back next year wish we'd had a longer one xx the staff were lovely too talk too nothing a problem to sort very polite

Review 20:The weather was awful on the night we stayed - very windy. We experienced a poor nights sleep due to a "whistling window"

Review 21:Great location for embassy theatre, staff very friendly and breakfast was perfect.

Review 22:Friendly atmosphere, nothing too much trouble, Ross & Wendy made the stay memorable. Would recommend as a weekend stay, as really handy for the town & night life.

Review 23:Although the hotel was fully booked, the staff made me feel welcome and made sure my stay was comfortable. They were friendly and kind. I noticed a lot of other smiling, happy guests.

Review 24:The mattress could have been better.

Review 25:All was good if not very good , loved the manager, he was excellent and one could tell he loved to please his guests.

Review 26:breakfast excellent especially as black pudding was an added extra Room was clean and a good size for a single traveller. Lots of coat hangers which is not always the case when you stay in hotels and/or b and b's. Staff very friendly and helpful. I was able to check in earlier than advertised.

Review 27:breakfast quite good but could be more varied from day to day

Review 28:friendly courteous staff not being disturbed like in some hotels by noisey stayers after say 11pm banging doors and talking loudly

Review 29:Lovely stay here. Friendly staff. Offered us the use of the car park after check out :) had no complaints. Was upgraded to a sea view which was nice to wake up to. Obviously a little dated however you know this upon booking due to the theme of the hotel. Breakfast was a okay size but perfectly cooked.

Review 30:Nothing we dont like about this hotel deffo cant be beaten for service!!!

Review 31:Have stayed here several times with my elderly parents always a warm welcome from the manager and frendly service from all the staff yes the hotel is a little old fashioned but cannot beat it for being clean and comfortable and a decent breakfast for the price....5 stars from us *****

Review 32:No control over heating to the room which made it hot and uncomfortable, since it was too wet and windy to open the windows much.

Review 33:Friendly efficient staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 34:Sad old once grand hotel. Bed well past sell buy date. ONE power socket in a double room. Simple mixer tap for the shower, not thermostatic.

Review 35:Nice staff who tried hard.

Review 36:BOOKED DINNER ONE EVENING . BUT IDIDN'T ENJOY IT, OR THE PUDDING, WHICH WAS BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING, I WAS GIVEN 2 TOUGH OLD CRUSTS WITH CUSTARD

Review 37:MY BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND THE BREAKFAST WAS VERY NICELY COOKED.

Review 38:Car park rather full caused a few probablems but nothing the manager couldn't solve.

Review 39:Very friendly manager and his staff always pleased to chat and help in every way.

Review 40:The hotel itself would benefit greatly from redecoration and updating. More caters for the older guests

Review 41:Staff generally were very friendly and helpful. Location for me was very good

Review 42:first hour got trapped in lift, ros got us out very fast. then lift broke down for 2 days very hard to manage stairs to 3rd floor at 76yrs old with breathing problems.

Review 43:hotel in very good position on sea front, good for my mobility scooter, very clean hotel, staff very good indeed,.

Review 44:wasn't anything I didn't like.

Review 45:Everyone was so friendly.Got good value as I was upgraded to a twin room with sea view. The breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel.

Review 46:Payment was taken before I got there. From friends card that had booked for me. I wasn't late. Only 7 pm so wasn't pleased with that.

Review 47:Lovely.Good location on the Sea Front.

Review 48:Decor in hotel a little tired but clean. Being a lone traveller I would have preferred a single table at breakfast instead of being in the middle of others.

Review 49:The manager and staff very friendly

Review 50:Room was quite dated, the mattress was a bit too soft and bouncy and the wifi didn't work in our room on the second floor but we didn't spend much time in the room to be fair.

Review 51:Top location along the sea front. Nice breakfast.

Review 52:The lift was old and dated and was dependent on other users closing them properly in order for them to reach other floors

Review 53:The staff were so friendly and accommodating they went out of their way to serve us. The best hotel staff we've come across in a long time.

Review 54:The hotel is dated In It's decor but very and warm close to the shops , Nice , we had a fiid welcome from the manager and staff are great. We wil be staying again

Review 55:No shower gel and towels tiny, shower was weak and unpredictable, grout behind taps needed cleaning. Breakfast was very basic (eg sausages poor quality) and porridge made with water. Staff attentive and coffee excellent

Review 56:Room had amazing view, loved the history of the place. On the whole it was very clean and staff couldnt be more helpful

Review 57:Mattress has seen better days

Review 58:Great staff, great location, room clean and fresh. Nice to have a little teapot, also a hairdrier. Feels like a really decent place to stay, and evidenced by so many return guests.

Review 59:Shower pathetic - I can pee faster and warmer Facilities badly need upgrading We were told we had been upgraded to a better room - fearful of what our original room must be like Shame the real ale pumps in bar have "not been used for years"

Review 60:Position Staff friendly and hard working

Review 61:None

Review 62:Ross muirhead best manager ever makes u feel welcome from moment u arrive till u drive off. Five star customer sevice. Catering and cleaning staff excelent service and very polite

Review 63:Needed a lick of paint here & there, no luggage room when you check out, although they did look after our cases at the back of reception when we checked out so we could look around the shops.

Review 64:The staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble, anything you asked for was there.

Review 65:We can't fault anything.

Review 66:The service was fantastic; nothing was too much trouble and we felt comfortable enough to ask for anything. The room was traditional and in keeping with the County Hotels history and it was absolutely spotlessly clean. Bed was really comfortable too and we had a great nights sleep. Our free upgrade to a sea view room was brilliant and the view was breathtaking. Breakfast was cooked to perfection. We will definitely return.

Review 67:Just poor wi-fi sygnal in 3rd floor room, but great view to sea side:)

Review 68:All was fantastic, the best holiday at all. Friendly people nice food and lovely weather:)

Review 69:The welcome by Ross was great and the rest of the staff were very friendly. Got upgraded to a seaview room which was lovely. Everywhere comfy maybe a little tired in places but for the price paid excellent value for money. will definitely be back. Bar prices good to they have house spirits. Only slight gripe could have had a nicer quality sausage at breakfast especially as it's in Lincolnshire.

Review 70:Loved it all :-)

Review 71:Couldn't find fault, lovely room, staff couldn't do enough especially Ross and Wendy. Nice breakfast and fantastic location with free parking.

Review 72:Lift was out of order but that is nobody's fault.

Review 73:Staff are nice.manager is great, even helps out at breakfast.seafront location with a large FREE car park.

Review 74:Friendly & helpful staff at this very well located hotel. Only a short walk to the main part of the town yet far enough away to be regarded as relatively quiet.

Review 75:Have stayed in smaller b&b's and have had far better breakfasts ( thicker toast ) for instance . The lift should work well if people read the instructions of use but 2times while on our stay it was abused having to walk 3 flights of stairs with bad knees not good.carpark could have a better layout.

Review 76:Bed and pillows, clean bathroom, decent working shower, stayed 2 nights so we could be close to theatre.

Review 77:After reading booklet in our room, advertising extensive menu, we decided to eat in the bar on first night. Menu in fact was same as restaurant and very limited. Went to order sweet at 7:10pm, (Bar food served until 7:30pm according to booklet), and was told, apologetically, they stopped serving at 7:00pm. A notice to this effect on the bar would have helped!! This was the only mishap on an otherwise most enjoyable stay.

Review 78:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the lift.

Review 79:Over bath shower connected to taps (no pressure)

Review 80:Style (Art Deco) of the Hotel and the original features. Even the 80 year old lift was an experience. Ross (Manager) was also very friendly

Review 81:Very friendly staff Food was fresh, varied and plentiful. Beds were really comfy with pillows you could sink into, lovely. With easy access car park

Review 82:The staff are very helpful and friendly. As a young couple we took my Nan away for a few days (who is disabled) and the staff were great and very accomodating. Would recommend staying here, great location and the breakfast was lovely.

Review 83:Decor a little dated would of been nice to sit outside and have a drink

Review 84:Manager exceptionally friendly and helpful great breakfast fantastic location great value for money

Review 85:As a young couple we only wanted somewhere to sleep really, but as we got there we were greeted by a lovely friendly member of staff. Room was lovely and the food. Definitely coming again

Review 86:The politeness of staff, and was a bit cheeky when I asked if I could put my car in the car park some six hours before we were due to check in(saved paying nearby car park charges)and was more than happy to oblige.

Review 87:There wasn't anything.

Review 88:The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was lovely. The room was clean. The room was spacious and had plenty of room for our toddler to play.

Review 89:Perhaps some areas could use a coat of paint.

Review 90:The staff and particulally the General Manager where very helpful . The hotel is a traditional seaside hotel and much used by its regular guests. Really nice to see that skegness still have this type of esablishment.

Review 91:one down side which would alter some peoples opinions is if some wallpaper in some of the rooms was stuck back peeling wallpaper doesn't look good.

Review 92:The staff are all friendly nothing is to much trouble for Ross the manager.

Review 93:Unfortunately Skegness has become a 'stag / hen' destination and this encroaches on all the hotels etc

Review 94:The staff were so friendly and efficient. Although very busy the breakfast staff were excellent and breakfast was served very quickly. The manager with the lovely Scottish accent greeted us whenever we saw him and the bar man / night manager, was The barman/ night Manager was also brilliant, although had an unfortunate allegiance to a 'Piggy' football club. Thanks for the banter.

Review 95:No outdoor furniture on balcony which was a pity as it would have been nice to sit there in the evening as no outside seating at hotel. Plastic 'glasses' in room. Tired looking decoration in room.

Review 96:All staff were excellent, so welcoming and courteous. Breakfast beautifully cooked. Room clean.

Review 97:The hotel staff could not do enough to help, the manager was friendly and accommodating. We were allowed to use the carpark prior to booking in time, and the cost of the room including breakfast was very reasonable. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice of foods!

Review 98:No room incar park. They took the money for the room long before we arrived which they are not supposed to do. They did not want to give us a travel cot

Review 99:Breakfast

Review 100:Had back facing bedroom where a generator was a bit noisy first thing in the morning and evening. Had shower over the bath, where the shower curtain attached itself to you when showering. No decent sized bath towels.

Review 101:Nice friendly staff, good location and parking, good breakfast, old fashioned lift.

Review 102:just a moan on my side. It would have been nice for some where to sit outside for the smokers. But I know you don't have to cater for this.

Review 103:food very good and great value for what you pay for.

Review 104:Alas the quality of the ingredient's at breakfast were poor(possibly trimmed down to fit the room rate) and this was a disappointment.

Review 105:The building was interesting and many art deco features have been retained. The staff without exception were superb and the room comfortable. Excellent value for money.

Review 106:Minor irritation - free wifi did not reach my room. However, it was available in public areas but I think it should be in all rooms as well.

Review 107:A comfortable hotel at a very good price. It is a short walk from Skegness Town Centre and has its own Car Park. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 108:all staff were very friendly and help full. breakfast and evening meals were really good room was great. really lovely stay looking forward to next stay there.

Review 109:Very friendly management and staff nothing was too much trouble it seemed, booked in earlier than expected, extended car parking offered for following day, room spotless and appeared to have new bed linen. Free upgrade to seaview room was appreciated, room décor/fittings a little tired but otherwise provided all that was required. Plenty of tea/coffee etc . Breakfast was excellent and service second to none, I will definitely be staying overnight again when next at the theatre.

Review 110:the noisy pub opposite which played loud music every night until 11.30 could not have our window open

Review 111:the staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean

Review 112:The window in our room was full of mould you couldn't hardly see through it, there was a long dark hair stuck on tiles at side of bath obviously not ours n bed room was cold when we came back at night.

Review 113:Location n managers friendliness

Review 114:myself my partner & sister took our 87yr old dad to stay the night at the county hotel we were really pleased & satisfied with finding this hotel & I ask that we could have our rooms near each other to which they obliged.

Review 115:The crockery at breakfast was very stained. The staff were very busy do didn't like to mention it.

Review 116:It was easy to find. Beautiful sea view. Helpful and friendly staff. Car parking.

Review 117:SEA VIEW CONSISTED OF MASSIVE WIND FARM. CROWDED CAR PARK BECAUSE OF MANY COACHES.

Review 118:POLITE AND FRIENDLY STAFF . GOOD CHOICE OF BREAKFAST. EVENING BOWLERS ENTERTAINING

Review 119:The hotel is a little dated but this does not effect the overall stay

Review 120:We had a great stay at this hotel. It is in an excellent location with a big car park. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff very friendly. For the price paid no complaints

Review 121:Friendly, caring staff to whom nothing was too much trouble, resulting in a relaxed, happy atmosphere. All rooms comfortable and tastefully decorated. Excellent hotel situation on the North Parade, all facilities within easy walking distance, and free parking greatly appreciated.

Review 122:It's a shame that we couldn't get Wireless internet in the bedroom. Any one who has a small internet business needs this to keep in touch with things.

Review 123:Friendly and very helpful staff, room comfortable. Unspoilt Hotel which took us back into time, Could do with a little updating but not to much to spoil the original design.

Review 124:room needs upgrading like wallpaper and bathroom. it was sad that we had to eat in the bar instead of the restaurant also we could not order the turkey as it had run out the food quality was average.

Review 125:I was extremely happy that on arrival we was met by a lovely chap and had upgrade us to a sea view room which was also very large.Staff are credit to this hotel.

Review 126:This is nmy 3 visit to the hotel but will be my last. The waitress that served me for breakfast was a waste of space 2 other staff had to ask me for my order as though I had a foreign acsent. I got the breakfast approx 40 mins later I dont think I will be returning.

Review 127:The staff member that greated me was a happy chap although he had to tell me there was no lift and I had to walk up to the 3rd floor. I use sticks and a motor scooter.

Review 128:not bad but the evening meal's could do with a rethink they're a little bland plenty but not much taste

Review 129:ross the manager can't do enough for you and this is passed down to the staff

Review 130:it was cold outside and windy

Review 131:we had a nice time and would go back there the staff were loverly and couldent do enough for you the breakfast was nice and had a good joice of different foods and it was comfortable. we had a loverly break
