Reviews for Hydra Hotel

Review 1:Many steps to climb to get to the hotel but worth it.

Review 2:Beautifully designed small hotel, great personal welcome throughout our stay, delicious breakfasts, great views, very relaxing. Close to great restaurants.

Review 3:Great location amazing view . We Loved the breakfast . The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly . I will definitely recommend this hotel

Review 4:All good - from our perspective.

Review 5:Hydra was our last island destination in Greece. We wanted to end the trip in style - the Hydra Hotel was a great choice. Even though we had the only room without a view - we were not disappointed. Outside the room was a small table and eating area. This was a perfect place for enjoying a quiet breakfast or sitting outside to read. The property is immaculate and Katerina was very helpful in arranging transport of our luggage and in recommending restaurants. We loved our stay at the Hydra Hotel and appreciated the opportunity to have the beautiful view of the harbor each time we arrived at and departed from the property. Thanks Katerina for your excellent hospitality.

Review 6:We stayed in the sea view apartment with private terrace. The apartment was spacious, beautifully appointed and very clean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Thank you for the delicious breakfasts!

Review 7:100 odd steps we had to walk up and down each day. With a baby, pram and nappy bag, this is not for the faint hearted.

Review 8:The rooms were very very clean. We had a town and sea view with terrace which was amazing.

Review 9:The steep climb till I got used to it . It made me stay in town longer instead of to and fro from hotel to town and back. Town only 10 minutes away.

Review 10:Very courteous, immaculate, very clean and classy. Manager Katerina is super efficient. My departure transport came on time and gentleman was efficient and very polite.

Review 11:The only thing I can say is the wifi was spotty at best but it was due to the storms and windy weather.

Review 12:Absolutely loved the location, room itself and especially the staff.

Review 13:The stairs can be daunting especially if you're there to party but we felt it was our little workout

Review 14:Overall feel of the hotel was great, breakfast was outstanding, Katarina was wonderful and made us feel special going to lenghts to satisfy our needs. We will definitely be back

Review 15:Nothing! I would definitely return to Hydra Hotel!

Review 16:The Breakfast was out-of-this-world! The staff were so friendly and pleasant and the hotel rooms and facilities were wonderful. Everything exceeded our expectations.

Review 17:I managed to leave a piece of cake given from the wedding I attended on the shelf. It was covered with ants the following day... Also the shower head rest wasn't properly set. It doesn't really matter though.

Review 18:Our room had a private balcony where we could have breakfast. It was lovely. The hotel manager is flexible enough to accommodate our requests such as swapping sweets with another plate of cheese etc. Small considerations like nice tea and little sweets made our trip very pleasant and sweet.

Review 19:Nothing! The steps may be a problem for some people but we took the view that if we walked up the steps at speed we could eat the breakfast pastries!

Review 20:We have loved Hydra for the past 30 years. Usually stayed in rooms but wanted to try Hydra Hotel with a/c as we knew it would be hot in July. Loved the personal service and attention from Katarina and Michelios. They are wonderful Ambassadors for Greece and the hotel. They move effortlessly from one language to another making everyone feel special. Loved the breakfasts, free water, laundry, little treats and variety of pastries at breakfast. Loved the advice for restaurants etc. Missing the place already!

Review 21:About ten less steps to the hotel would have been perfect.

Review 22:The location overlooking the harbor is fantastic. That said it is also proximate to a museum and the other parts of the town. The comfort was more than we expected and the tender care provided by the staff was unmatched during our three weeks of travel. I had lived in Greece previously and this was a trip to revisit and to recall. The kindness and care was restorative and rejuvenating. All I can say is thanks.

Review 23:Nothing! It was all gorgeous and perfect.

Review 24:Michael and Katarina, the hotel managers, made our stay so wonderful. The hotel itself is beautiful, white and pretty and clean with amazing views of the port, and add in their warm hospitality, and it was a perfect start to our trip to Hydra.

Review 25:The rooms and premises are elegant and designerly; the views are stunning. The hotel staff is helpful with just the right mix of suggestions and leaving us to explore on our own. It was nirvana - I will be daydreaming about my stay at Hydra Hotel for months to come!

Review 26:Walking up and down stairs. Unfriendliness of people in Hydra - this excludes the hotel staff who were more helpful and friendly.

Review 27:Free laundry, great view. Breakfast very plentiful.

Review 28:Pillows too big & too hard for us WiFi failed in room in the evenings Water failed in the evenings

Review 29:Nearly everything, breakfast, bed, staff, position, information provided, beach towel provided, views, flowers in room, safe, spacious rooms exceptionally clean

Review 30:Great breakfasts, amazing view from balcony!

Review 33:Great location. The staff are friendly and most accommodating. The breakfast was of the highest quality produce.

Review 34:Balcony view room has stunning views and staff are terrific. Rooms are very private and hotel is close to everything you need.

Review 35:Great location, beautiful view, rooms gorgeous, staff very friendly and helpful!

Review 36:Nothing.

Review 37:Pretty much everything.

Review 38:would have been perfect if there had been a balcony but garden terrace was perfect for breakfast

Review 39:Room, space and decor Facilities and lighting

Review 40:The staff were fantastic and great with small children, fantastic location, delicious breakfast, clean, spacious, relaxing and friendly.

Review 41:Exceptional personal attention from staff, comfortable bed and seating and delicious breakfasts with special treats.

Review 42:I loved the view and where the hotel was situated. Adored the island - it was a great experience.

Review 43:all.

Review 44:Kitchenette needed a kettle

Review 45:Decor, lovation amd friendliness

Review 46:Beautiful, both friendly and elegant. Facilities were excellent and hosts were extremely kind. Breakfast was an indulgence.

Review 47:Being only three days at the hotel!

Review 48:Hydra Hotel is a unique place. Where can you find a hotel where laundry is free and you can have breakfast where you choose it? The team is superb in charm and in the art of receiving and being preventive of guest needs. And, by the way, in Hidra island there is no cars and all the noise you can hear is the singing of roosters and the tolling of bells!

Review 49:Everything. Charming staff and charming hotel in charming Hydra. It was our wedding anniversary and we had hoped to have a front room with the gorgeous view of the town as displayed on the internet - we were not let down. We enjoyed the Easter traditions from here as well as the enormous delicious breakfasts served in our room. After three weeks on the go - Hydra and this hotel were the perfect respite for travellers to catch our breath. There are wonderful places to eat off the waterfront each night - after the breakfast you wont require lunch!

Review 50:The boutique hotel was a mansions once and everything was perfect and beautifully done in warm pale colors. We had the best room with 4 panoramic windows looking at the bay and the mountains; day and night the view from those windows was breathtaking. The hotel has a lovely smell like of aromatherapy. Really splendid.

Review 51:The cats in Hydra are more overwelming than the cruise ship daytrippers. Not a decent beach on the island.

Review 52:Katerina was voted by my wife and I as the" Perfect Hostess"of the year. Great setting and atmosphere. Looks and feels like a Greekisland should

Review 53:Was not able to shower without holding the shower head (nowhere to put it).

Review 54:Super nice hostess. Location (view) is wonderful. Good service (whatever you need they will get).

Review 55:High stairs must be climbed to arrive to the hotel. If you are tired, book a donkey to wear your luggage...

Review 56:Beautiful hotel with a nice view on hydra. Friendly service. Well decorated rooms. Very clean.

Review 57:Breakfast could have incorporated local produce rather than mass produced ( not sure if possible - but would be a nice touch)

Review 58:Staff extremely friendly. Room had good views over the town. Very clean Decent sizes room

Review 59:There was nothing we didn't love, but since this hotel is up on the hill and you have to walk up and down the stairs on the hill, I won't recommend it to families with very small kids in need of strollers, or adults with weak knees/legs. Otherwise, I guarantee your legs will be super fit by the end of the vacation.

Review 60:Hydra Island itself is a magical destination to travel to, but Hydra Hotel definitely made our experience even more memorable. Just a perfect boutique hotel situated in the middle of the hill, Hydra Hotel is clean, quiet, rooms are spacious with ample closet space, even with kitchen if you like to cook or just to prepare a quick morning tea (which I did). Breakfast in the courtyard is relaxing, and delicious. Manager Catelina's thoughtfulness can be found everywhere from a little plate of local sweets and fresh flowers, complimentary bottles of water in every room, beach towels to borrow, etc. The whole hotel had the very slight almost unnoticeable aromatherapy scent which I loved. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful, gave us tons of tips on where to go and what to do. We were there for friends' wedding, and everyone was asking about our hotel. Even the wedding couple said they will stay at Hydra Hotel next time they are back on the island. Of course, we would definitely stay here if we have a chance to come back to the island. (We almost wish we can keep this place secret!)

Review 61:Access very steep and lots of steps. Need a donkey to carry luggage from harbour.

Review 62:Very friendly. Clean. Good facilities. Amazing view. Comfortable. Separate sitting room and kitchenette.

Review 63:There was nothing I didn't like, although I can see that number ofsteps and high climb might be an issue for some.....i think I counted143 at one point (there are different routes up and down) but for methis was a great opportunity to exercise, a good way to counter-balancepigging out on wine and feta - and better than being stuck in a gym!!!

Review 64:The staff are definitely this hotel's greatest asset, they arecompletely welcoming, warm and friendly at all times. Nothing is toomuch trouble. Everything is spotlessly clean, light and bright, and verypeaceful too as it's up high away from the town so you aren'tkept awake at night by Hydra's famous meowling cats!!! The littlecourtyard where you sit for breakfast is lovely and plant-filled, andthe delicious fruits, yoghurt, pastries and great coffee set you up forthe day! Highly recommended!

Review 65:Just our mistake in bringing large luggage. We should have come with light luggage or backpacks. It would be helpful to advise people of this on the website far before they travel.

Review 66:I loved the interior decorating of the room, and the wonderful breakfast. I also appreciated the location near swimming, the coastal walking path, and coastal restaurants.

Review 67:Difficult to find, stairs steep and unlit, slow plumbing in shower, broken sink faucet in bath, light by bed burned out,no one at boat to take bags which could not be carried up steep stairs by us.

Review 68:Quiet friendly

Review 69:Pillows were very comfortable as well as beds. Courtyard for breakfast and relaxing was shady in the morning. Staff attentive to every need. Free laundry! Great view from rooms. Be sure to book room 202 with balcony for best sunset view.

Review 70:breakfast was nice, but would have been better with some additional fresh fruit

Review 71:Beautiful room, great air-cond to beat the heat, great view, lovely management staff

Review 72:Breakfast .

Review 73:The location with a very nice view dispite the fact that there are 150steps until you reach the hotel.Katerina the person who runs the hotelis very helpfull, polite and always there for anything that you mightneed.Very nice rooms/app.with kitchenette.

Review 74:My 20 year old daughter and I stayed three nights at the beautiful HydraHotel. It was the most wonderful experience of our trip. Katarina, theinn keeper was warm and amazing. Our room overlooking the harbor wasexquisite; the only complaint I have is that we ever had to leave! Icannot imagine having a better experience anywhere.

Review 75:Small details like the showerhead which is very unpractically mounted

Review 76:A real gem in Hydra, nice room and very welcoming owner. A real feel good place.

Review 77:The view, the staff, the food, the rooms

Review 78:The service was exceptional. The location excellent.

Review 79:many stairs no view

Review 80:Design- cosy comfortable rooms polite personnel

Review 81:The balcony of the panoramic view room is probably the best place in the town.

Review 82:The manager Katerina was very helpful and the hotel is beautiful

Review 83:Small boutique hotel. Apartments with kitchen facilities. Fabulous views. Very helpful friendly staff.

Review 84:the excellent renovation of the old building

Review 85:Everything was perfect

Review 86:Beautiful, classy, clean, excellent hotel staff
