Reviews for The Falmouth Beach

Review 1:We are used to a superking bed, and so the double bed felt a little small, perhaps king sized beds would be better.

Review 2:Breakfast and staff were excellent, we even got an upgrade to a sea view room.

Review 3:The falmouth beach hotel no longer really exists, it is an annexe of a bigger better hotel. I felt very much a second class citizen as the systems and processes of the main hotel would not accomodate my needs in the falmouth beach

Review 4:Convenience to sea and town

Review 5:beds lumpy had no sleep so poor for the money , much better hotels the same price in falmouth , i would rate 2 to 3 star. the room was not the one in the photo with doors looking out to the sea, i would say your a second rate customer because your not booking st michaels spa thats the money side

Review 6:food was nice and room was clean

Review 7:Room was quite hot, very mild for time of the year, however we turned down the heating.

Review 8:Friendly staff, the view, the size of the room and the opportunity to have breakfast on Christmas day and Boxing day at St Micheal's and the box of chocolates on our arrival on Christmas eve. Perfect for a relaxing break visiting relatives over the Christmas period.

Review 9:The breakfast room was never open and guests at the Falmouth Beach had to walk across to the St. Michaels for breakfast and with an invalid partner this was difficult and we ate out after the first 2 mornings. The hotel was never "manned" and we felt like the poor relations. Was not aware that the FB was a satellite to the St. Michaels or would have booked elsewhere and for that reason would not stay there again.

Review 10:position of hotel was great.

Review 11:We didn't really have a bad experience, but I would describe it as disappointing. The room was largish, however the decor needed refreshing. The style was very much as one might expect in the 1980's, ( textured wall paper, peach tones, shiny orange pine furniture). The bed, I have no doubt, complied with the information on the site as falling between 130 to 150 cm. However, it was definitely at the bottom end of that scale; one of the smallest doubles I have seen in a hotel since the early 70's in France. A window was broken and had a label asking us not to open it. Breakfast too was a time-warp experience. The bread was packet sliced and one was expected to toast it oneself. The coffee was of the push-button variety. The hot breakfast had been "pre-cooked" and presented on a warmer, including the scrambled eggs which had been cooked in a microwave, in bulk, and allowed to separate. The fault lies with the processes that the staff have been asked to carry out rather than the staff themselves. Some more caring management and appropriate staff training would go a long way to making the customer experience much better at minimal cost.

Review 12:Good location. Staff all friendly and trying their best.

Review 13:It was clean but the furniture was old & worn and it made the room look quite shabby. Glad we got the room at reduced price.

Review 14:Staff were friendly & polite.

Review 15:Being really picky here but the car park entrance was a little difficult to find (although it does explain this on the website), you have to check in at the adjacent St Michael's hotel (which I didn't see explained on the website) and the hill down/up to the beach could be a challenge for some people, plus it was a fair walk to the town centre and back

Review 16:The value for money was fantastic! Full breakfast was included with everything you could possibly want. The staff were great and the room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony and a great view. We'll definitely be back here - highly recommended!

Review 17:Poor signage to find exact location, no indication when booking of this and the image on 3rd party site was of the former building that's been destroyed by fire some years ago!

Review 18:Quality of room, friendliness of staff

Review 19:The rooms were a bit Fawlty Towers - also most people in the town think the Falmouth Beach hotel doesn't exist any longer having burned down (including our taxi driver).

Review 20:Location was excellent and staff friendly and efficient.

Review 21:Clean and cosy rooms; wonderful location just up from the beach. Use of St Michael's hotel's lovely swimming pool. Perfect for a short break!

Review 22:The bed was like a rock, the bathroom fan very noisy and the furnishing were dated and tatty

Review 23:Great Location, pleasant staff and reasonable included breakfast.

Review 24:Booking in at one hotel then going to the other hotel

Review 25:Staff very very good very help full breakfast was ten out of ten staff very happy people The breakfast was great

Review 26:Not a bad experience but heating seemed to go off about 8.30/9pm so room cooled down and no extra bedding in room, though am sure we could have had some if we had asked at main reception in St Michael's Hotel.

Review 27:It was nice and quiet, not too far into town for evening meal, bed and bed linen beautifully comfortable.Breakfast was in main hotel, St Michaels all within same car parking area and was superb; wonderful view from dining room in St Michael's. Also within a few yards of beach, gardens and coast walk. Had read some not very good reviews but was pleasantly surprised.

Review 28:Breakfast was pre cooked in the St Michaels hotel and brought to the Falmouth Beach. This meant only eggs available were scrambled and no other choice for cooked breakfast except English.

Review 29:friendly, helpful staff

Review 30:Well there was no lift no reception you had to go to another hotel to book in no bar what staff that was there were very helpful we paid £118 which was not worth the money we overlook a building site really disappointed

Review 31:No receptionist, I was a solo traveller and put in a room at the end of a corridor very isolated, had to go to St Michaels hotel for breakfast. Very scary walking around a hotel with no staff.

Review 32:The proximity to the beach.

Review 33:There was confusion over breakfast on one occasion - my order seemed to be repeatedly 'lost in transit'. However, this was only one occasion, and otherwise both the breakfasts and the staff were pleasant.

Review 34:This hotel is a 'subsidiary' of the adjoining St Michaels Hotel and guests can use the facilities of the rather more luxurious St Michaels on a pay-as-you-go basis. The Falmouth Beach is a good value hotel in an excellent position - two minutes walk from the beach.

Review 35:We paid for sea view room. We were upgraded (supposedly) to an apartment which had only a sea view from the edge of a patio/terrace. Was also about 500 yards from hotel. No bedside tables. Very dark dull looking apartment in need of updating. Not the sea view I paid for. Blue hording blocking part of the view too.

Review 36:The room we were given had the feel of a motel not a hotel, noisy water pipes from the room above and one flimsy lock on the door of the room which opened straight out to carpark. Breakfast choice very poor.

Review 37:The location is excellent.

Review 38:I found it difficult to get to our room on 3rd floor as there was no lift & I had foot surgery back in June, also the hot breakfast was cold,on these reasons we left a day early, thought it over priced for the value

Review 39:I liked the veiw from the room

Review 40:Having to book in and out in neighbouring hotel, so I had to leave my heavy suitcase in the lobby. Very small single room with a poor shower. Over priced at this time of year with poor drink selection in room and no complimentary biscuits.

Review 41:Great location, clean. Pretty good breakfast selection but no vegetarian sausages/meat substitute option and no fresh fruit salad option. Large bath towel, often unusual in hotels, so a 'well done' here!

Review 42:Dated decor. No edible fresh fruit at breakfast and no tomato juice. Strange chocolatly smell throughout the buildings. Difficult to find hotel

Review 43:The St Michaels restaurant

Review 44:I don't like the rooms think for 200 a night for each room , we have been put in a standard room with wiev on the car park and building site :/ could not see the sea at all! the rooms wasint also ready for our arival ( I have made special request as we drove for 5 hours ) :/ we still been asked to wait over hour :(

Review 45:I really lieked the location , close to sea , view and easy access to the car park

Review 46:the fact that it was not clear that the hotel was joined to the neighbouring hotel who initially put us in a room that required us to climb a very steep hill to get to the dining room and lounge

Review 47:the fact that the wifi was free

Review 48:The breakfast was awful because of a shortage of practically everything when we arrived at 9.30. The self service option was not good enough for the price we paid.

Review 49:The peace and quiet of our room and a very comfy, clean bed.

Review 50:The location of the hotel is poor due the area still being boarded up after the fire. I think it is a little pricey considering the area is boarded up and we couldn't see how to get into the hotel at first.

Review 51:Staff were really helpful and friendly

Review 52:two or three sentences will not explain our basic problems with this hotel. It was burnt down 18 months ago. The address was wrong. The next door hotel was trying to manage it. there was not lift and an 83 year old had to climb four flights of stairs. The bed was appalling. I am surprised that Booking.com even listed the building. Your description was false and totally misleading

Review 53:The close proximity to the beach

Review 54:Breakfast was a let down as they did not have a hob to fry the eggs all they had was a microwave

Review 55:Hotel location was very good and the parking was very good the staff were friendly and the room was spotless

Review 56:Dodgy 70's carpets, room / skirting boards not as dusted as I would have liked. On two different occasions; apparently my shower leaked through to downstairs hallway.

Review 57:Location, staff, breakfast room, coffee. Staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful. One guy even brought me a charger as I forgot mine!

Review 58:I asked for 2 rooms together but got 2 rooms in separate corridors. Not very good when this was the specific reason that I had booked with this hotel and I spoke to them before I booked. They tried to help but were unsuccessful. A discount would have been nice! Also at breakfast there were no fried eggs so a bit dissappointing.

Review 59:Location was great for our party.

Review 60:Parking was full and tight and WiFi was intermittent

Review 61:Great location. A 10 minute walk or £3 taxi from centre. Decent sized room and clean. Lovely staff.

Review 62:Impossible to find (as burned down) and no indication of where to go on boarded up site, Accommodation only just above B&B but expensive for poor standard . Way below expectations based on Booking.com site etc etc etc

Review 63:The weather

Review 64:Small point but the lighting over the mirror in the bathroom does not lend itself to easy application of make-up! Bad positioning.

Review 65:Friendly and accommodating staff. Bright and cheerful room with a sea view (we were upgraded to the St Michaels Hotel)

Review 66:We drove for 40 minutes trying to locate the hotel and eventually went to another hotel only to be told we should be looking for St Michaels as Falmouth Beach had been taken over. No where on the website mentions this. The website needs to be changed because after a 6 hour drive i was not happy. The room was clean apart from the toilet that still had marks from the previous customers.

Review 67:The room was small but over looked the beach and the view was stunning. The staff were polite and professional.

Review 68:Range of main breakfast food very limited e.g eggs -only scrambled. full English no kippers. Would have expected more for price of room. Address faulty- there is no Seafront road. Arriving in rain couldn't find it. Locals told us it was burnt down 4 years ago! Eventually found it in Gyllingvase Hill, but on entering it was deserted and saw note to go to next door hotel to book in.

Review 69:Room had 2 arm chairs, and was very clean. Breakfast food quality was excellent.

Review 70:To enter main car park we had to go through the car park at St Michaels Hotel which was tight and awkward. There were closer car parking spaces but these were limited to 4.

Review 71:The beds were really comfortable

Review 72:Breakfast was a let down. Coffee from a machine with a constant queue. No enough selection on the breads etc. Better on Day 2 than Day 1. Was in the building which was unmanned at Reception. Had to use card for entry late and on both nights the side door was unlocked which slightly left the property wide open to non residents.

Review 73:The beans at breakfast. Some veggie sausages might be an idea. Having booked way in advance last year and expressed a desire for a sea view was a little disappointed not to get one but understand that it isn't always possible.

Review 74:It was very quiet. Near a lovely beach and not far from centre. Spa facilities sounded good.

Review 75:Clearly this hotel is an annex to the main hotel and reception was across the car park, which was all a bit muddled, think that is a temporary arrangement

Review 76:The staff were excellent, bed very comfy, nice tea and coffee making facilities.

Review 77:Very friendly staff, room was clean and a good size. Lovely view of the sea both from our room and from the little sun terrace. Very enjoyable stay, would recommend.

Review 78:Very confusing - when we arrived we were told the original hotel had burned down 2 years previously and it was only by chance that we found the location of where we were staying by asking at St Michaels Hotel and Spa, just up the road. They then told us that they had taken over the parts of the hotel which hadn't burnt down which existed as an annex. Staff were very helpful and we were pleased with the hotel when we finally got there. However, we had tried to call the number stated on booking.com form and it was disengaged so we were unable to contact the hotel to start with. Also, the photos on the booking.com website relate to the old hotel which has now burned down, which we feel is deceitful.

Review 79:Staff helpful - very kind after our traumatic start to the trip.

Review 80:the only thing that let down our stay was the cooked breakfast, bacon was over cooked could not even cut it, sausage was only cooked one side, this meal should not of been presented to the table, could not fault the rest of choices available for breakfast.

Review 81:breakfast was not brilliant the beans was hard the hogs pudding was so small it was a waist of time being on the plate .

Review 82:it was an ideal location and the room was very nice even though it needs a bit of TLC in the bathroom

Review 83:No help for disabled, pokey bathroom,to many stairs for disabled.when webooked We told them that I was disabled but still put us up stairs.Thishotel is just an annexe to the main hotel next door,no staff on duty, alldo it yourself, wont recommend it,WONT be back.

Review 84:The 'hotel' is difficult to find (no signage), and turns out to be an annexe of the hotel next door. Reception, when we found it, was dismal, and the mattress had deep dips in it, damaging for ageing backs. Breakfast on the first morning was rather frosty.

Review 85:The staff member who cleaned and tidied up the room did a faultless job. Thank you

Review 86:Rooms are outdated (old carpet, no breakfast in the building have to walk over to St Michael), difficult to find the place, when we arrived we been told that meant to check in at St Michael what was never mentioned before and they called me up to take payment as the booking person take only 20% of the room rate. Room not includes the use of pool and steam bath have to pay £5 extra and when I arrived just been told to pay £1 for towel. Find this very cheep and was not impressed at all. Will never go back to this place

Review 87:Staff in the restaurant very polite excellent food and service.

Review 88:The address directions were not accurate. We were told these directions were for a place that had burnt down. We had to gain entry via the rear street to the property, not the front esplanade street as written in the directions. This took some time to work out and caused anxiety.

Review 89:Our room was very good overall.

Review 90:we were in the annexe part of the hotel which seemed to have no security.. we walked straight into the bedroom corridors from the street, looking for reception as could any one.

Review 91:staff were extremely helpful, cant fault them

Review 92:Stairs ( with heavy cases ) The fact that there were few staff around Security issue? Front door open and nobody on Reception to monitor visitors ( tho' we were aware of CCTV ) Otherwise, all great!

Review 93:General ambience Fantastic location and walking proximity to town centre Easy parking Proximity to Gyingvase Beach and Gylly café Value for money

Review 94:The staff and hotel itself are very disorganised. Worst breakfast ever (undercooked, dry bacon; plastic eggs; terrible sausage). Broken coffee machine was reported on day one but no alternatives offered for the rest of our stay. Decided to have breakfast across the worad on the beach which was lovely - I recommend eating breakfast out if you plan to stay here.

Review 95:Rooms were fine, staff were friendly enough, location was amazing.

Review 96:Great location, very clean and comfortable room, staff were really friendly and professional and managed to change our room and upgrade it when we wanted to prolong our stay. Although the hotel itself does not have it's own pool, gym and fitness classes or spa you can use the facilities at the sister hotel next door St.Michaels for a small fee (£20). Falmouth has lots of excellent restaurants and beautiful beaches and coastal walks.

Review 97:Warm water through both taps in evening & cold water in the morning.

Review 98:Very handy for walkies with the ''boys''. Surprisingly quiet. Parking right outside room.

Review 99:picture on web site of hotel is misleading as it no longer eexists as it has been nocked down and we had to go next door to get keys st micheals

Review 100:comfy bed

Review 101:Nothing

Review 102:Dog friendly with bowls and bed provided. We had an ensuite room under the apartments basic but quite spacious and clean. Parking was easy and wifi was good.

Review 103:That we were not advised that we would have to go to another hotel for breakfast etc. If we had not been moved to adjacent hotel our break would have been disappointing

Review 104:Being moved to different accommodation

Review 105:I realize the hotel will be completely re vamped to match the St Michael' s ( it will become part of that hotel. My daughter and I were so cold at night...no extra blankets given. We got dressed and got back into bed !! The heating was on but I think the walls are not insulated and all heat was being lost, through walls and window. I had paid rather a lot for what we received, and seeing the hotel advertising a room on another web site since booking, they were including breakfast which I had not got. I phoned and explained and they gave us breakfast . I was there to visit the university with my daughter, a better night sleep would have been nice !

Review 106:the view

Review 107:Paid extra for dog friendly room and got put in what they called 'the apartments'. Bed was very uncomfortable (very lumpy mattress), could only get hot water out of taps (no cold), walls were very thin and room was not very clean.

Review 108:The breakfast and location were both very good, lovely eating breakfast looking over Falmouth beach in the morning.

Review 109:Breakfast was terrible, cold and over cooked. Beds very uncomfortable and could feel the springs.

Review 110:The staff very good, food at St michael's excellent. The towels very fluffy. The location was excellent

Review 111:We booked into one hotel, had to check in at a sister hotel over the road, was then walked down to a seperate building again where we stayed, then had to walk back over to the original hotel for breakfast the following morning....very confusing!!

Review 112:We were happy with the standard of the room and the facilities available to us and the location was nice.

Review 113:The bed was so soft it was like sleeping in a cross between a water bed and a hammock - so glad we only had to sleep in it for one night.

Review 114:Great location and lots of parking space. Very quiet.

Review 115:The special I booked didn't make it abundantly clear that it was a'room only - no breakfast'. The first morning we therefore hadbreakfast with seaview (buffet) and wonderfully friendly staff. Thesecond morning we were not welcome to have breakfast and when themisunderstanding became clear, I - in their place - would have invitedmy guests, knowing that they would feel much better treated and not feltpublicly rejected. This, in turn, made me not want to look at thefacilities for my upcoming retreats. However, I must say to the benefitof the reception manager that day that he was kind enough to not bill usthe first morning extra since no one had told us that their special wasexclusive and with 14.99/per person per breakfast would not havebeen so special after all. I was really sad about the breakfast part soshortly before having to drive back for 8-9 hours on the road and tohave one last view across the sea before turning inland again. Thisspoiled my feeling of 'fabulous'. Seen that it was amisunderstanding, I would have served my guests differently, butthat's just me. I was raised to find that you always see each othertwice and it always pays to add that extra bit of happy. I justdidn't expect this, so I left sad (and hungry) rather than happy.Other than that, it was beautiful - and we enjoyed our stay. Falmouth isabsolutely stunning and magical. All people involved had greatintentions, and sometimes it just pays to go beyond :) We do appreciatethough, and this is a plus, that we were not billed extra for the firstbreakfast, and that is what I choose to focus on now. All in all (otherthan the A.M.) Wonderful experience. Thank you!

Review 116:Location was by the beach, or at the bottom end of the road leading toit. Staff was really friendly. Breakfast was in the fabulous 'MotherHouse', the St. Michael's right behind it, with sea view.Wonderfully furbished and great feel to it all. Very friendly people!

Review 117:Had to call someone from a phone at the front desk to check in only to be advised by another member of staff to go to the other hotel managing this hotel. I told them I would not do this with so much luggage. The room was cold; I needed two blankets at night. The hotel was loud! I was constantly woken by banging of doors and people in the corridor. The hotel was badly signposted; I had no idea I would have to go through the entrance to another hotel to get to this one. I also rang the hotel for directions and at which point the person on the telephone said she did not know and would have to get someone to ring me back! By the time this person rang me back, I had found the hotel myself and checked in! Would not stay here again!

Review 118:Not much

Review 119:Small double bed for two people. Small room. No reception staff. Noisey. Dated furnishings. Grubby bathroom. Not represented by pictures of room on website - felt very misled.

Review 120:The location.

Review 121:Buffet Breakfast was a bit iffy. The standard egg offering is scrambled eggs which were watery.

Review 122:The location is just by the beach. Excellent spa facilities. Staff know what they are doing. I booked for the The Falmouth Beach Hotel but it has been taken over by St Michaels Resort Hotel.

Review 123:Expensive for the room we got, which was external to the main hotel. Cleaning staff did not properly secure the door, so there was a security issue. Attention to detail poor overall.

Review 124:Excellent location

Review 125:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 126:I like the location of the hotel being so near to the beach. The staff are helpful and friendly. The prices are reasonable too. I have stayed twice and I shall be returning when I can spare the time.

Review 127:being woken up every morning by housekeeping slamming doors which was apparently next to room 102 didnt complain as this was only a 3 night stay I am deaf and i still heard them please consider guests at 07:00 in the morning

Review 128:Staff are wonderful polite friendly and well mannered I am part of the best western chain well done

Review 129:Hotel tricky to find! No signs up to this hotel, so drove around the location in the dark several times looking for clues. Nobody had told as at the time of booking that we had to check in at an adjacent, different hotel until we we eventually phoned up for directions. Small, basic room, springs in the bed a little tired, old fashioned bathroom fittings, some worn out / broken bits and pieces.

Review 130:nice location: near seafront and a good walking distance into town centre; bright conservatory with seaviews; friendly staff (once we managed to locate the hotel!); ample parking on site; quiet room, nice bedlinen and fluffy towels, the Flying Fish Restaurant next door was THE highlight of our stay

Review 131:Just 'doing up' this hotel so felt 'out on a limb' but room clean and comfortable! Grateful for the use of the restaurant and bar at St Michael's Spa! Will be good when hotel refurbished! All staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 132:This hotel has been taken over by St Michaels Spa hotel - so loved using their restaurant and bar!

Review 133:I just felt that for the money on the first week of the new year it was a bit pricey.Being able to spend time in the St Michael made up for it.

Review 134:On the whole the Falmouth Beach was O.K.We spoke to several people who had the same trouble as we did trying to find it ,not helped by locals telling us it had burned down.Had a lovely meal in the St Michael , small on portions ,and now we know what to expect would go back.

Review 135:How difficult reception was to find. Perhaps you could let guests know they need to register at St Martin's? Grubby marks on wall near bed Lumpiness of mattress View from window ( but maybe this was because I asked for a quiet room

Review 136:I asked for a quiet room and got one Big fluffy white towels Good variety at buffet breakfast Attentive and pleasant staff The fact we could get a meal in the bar even though the restaurant was fully booked.

Review 137:In this price range there really was nothing to complain about.

Review 138:Everything. Particularly grateful to Amy on the front desk - I booked the wrong dates and didn't realise until we arrived. My mistake was sorted quickly by the hotel without fuss or cost to me.

Review 139:Being told the second day that we were relocated to Another location for breakfast having been told we were in the Flying Fish. Breakfast was poor at second location. No choice of eggs and no marmalade

Review 140:Was told we were in Flying Fish for breakfast which was excellent

Review 141:Nothing.

Review 142:Lovely big room with all round sea views. Only used the bedroom as we were in Falmouth for Christmas and spent rest of time with nearby family.

The Fine Print

Guests for The Falmouth Beach will need to check in at St Michael's Hotel and Spa, which is located next door to the hotel. The Falmouth Beach shares a car park with St Michael's Hotel and Spa.
