Reviews for Sleep Lodge
Review 1:Couple of little Maintainance issues, but nothing that affected our stay at all, would just be a shame if such a lovely accommodation was allowed to deteriorate; window locks insecure and tap on bathroom sink broken
Review 2:Location, staff, decor, it was a fab stay
Review 3:Nothing major. Ironing board was broken and couldn't fit in car park on one night.
Review 4:Clean spacious room. Good view. Short walk to centre of Bakewell. Warm welcome on arrival.
Review 5:The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was on time and first class. The staff were very friendly and made our stay very homely. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to others.
Review 6:The location was great, just a stones through away from the centre of Bakewell. Monsal Trail is a 5 minute walk away and Chatsworth is just a 10 minute drive. The room we stayed in was spacious and modern, and you couldn't ask for better facilities. I honestly couldn't recommend staying at Sleepy Lodge enough.
Review 7:Soundproofing between floors could be a lot better.
Review 8:Stayed on the coldest night of the year so far but very warm and cosy inside. Convenient for local facilities. Very friendly staff.
Review 9:Excellent location just a short downhill walk to Bakewell town centre. Very clean spacious rooms with large comfortable beds and good ensuite facilities. Kitchenette a bonus with generous provisions of tea/coffee. Overall photos don't do the accommodation justice. Good private off street parking adjacent to our accommodation. Would definitely re-visit if in the area and good to know dogs are welcome too. The warm welcome and informative introduction to our accommodation and surroundings from Georgina was excellent.
Review 10:No floor length mirror Bed was 2 singles pushed together and they weren't at the same level
Review 11:Excellent location Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming Room was stunning everything had pretty much been thought of Cleanilness was great
Review 12:Nothing we didn't like. Older visitors may need to consider the short but steep walk from the hotel to town centre.
Review 13:Clean, modern, spacious accommodation with everything you need. Having a small kitchenette is a useful addition. Staff are excellent and knowledgable of the area. Great location.
Review 14:it was a bit hot! Could have done with a lighter duvet. (we did turn the heating off too)
Review 15:A central location just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Bakewell. Had facilities to make our own breakfast/packed lunches. Room was cleaned every day with clean towels etc.
Review 16:The car park was only just big enough so one carelessly parked vehicle can cause problems. Not a problem with the apartment but prices in Bakewell are too high (it's too popular)!
Review 17:The quality of the bathroom and suite. The comfort of the extra kingsize bed. The free Internet connection.
Review 18:We were 5 people and had 3 apartments. One had an incredible view of the town and the other two apartments because of the location, there was no view or restricted view.
Review 19:The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and apologised profusely when there was a mistake with the booking. The apartments were immaculate, well stocked and inviting. The accessibility to Bakewell town centre was a bonus.
Review 20:The cooking facilities. It was advertised as self catering but it was literally a sink, kettle, microwave & two each of plates, knives, forks & spoons. This meant we had to continuously wait & wash a knife so we could use it for the next job. There weren't any cereal bowls and we struggled without a proper grill/hob. We chose self catering because we like fresh, healthy food. Not everyone wants to simply heat up ready meals :(
Review 21:The location is excellent for walking/cycling in the Peak District. Bakewell itself is lovely and worth a visit on its own. The view from our bedroom window was to die for and the shower was really hot & powerful. Perfect after a day out in the hills!
Review 22:We made use of the sofa bed as there were three of us, but it was an uncomfortable sofa bed, and I would recommend fitted sheets as the flat sheets kept sliding off as there was no where to tuck it into.
Review 23:The location was fantastic, and the lady that greeted us when we arrived was extremely helpful and friendly. The accommodation was very good.
Review 24:We ordered breakfast in the dining room but the staff were not prepared for the numbers who had ordered their breakfast. The food was only fair. The plate they served the cooked food on was cold therefore the food was cool. The quality of the meal was of a low standard. If I stayed again I would use the self catering facilities or go out for a cooked breakfast.
Review 25:Room was lovely but for self catering - there was only a microwave, fridge, kettle and sink no cooker. The bathroom was modern and clean.
Review 26:1- wifi was so poor that i would say it doesnt exist. Cannot connect. 2- bed is very unconfortable. Twin bed put together to form double bed. 3- as we were on the ground floor, could hear all noises from room above. 4- No hot water.
Review 27:Great location
Review 28:Bakewell lovely place to visit. Room really modern and comfortable. Lovely view. Shower great though I personally prefer a bath and there was no bath.
Review 29:Nothing.
Review 30:Staff were on hand immediately. Friendly & helpful. Staff were trustful allowing us access to our room early & not having to check in. Room was clean & very comfortable. Great views.
Review 31:soundproofing. very noisy baby in room below
Review 32:location. very helpful staff when I couldn't work the TV. parking space. Very comfortable and well equipped.
Review 33:The room was clean, comfortable and the kitchenette perfect for our needs. The staff are so helpful and friendly and the location perfect, only a few minutes walk from the town but far enough away to be quiet.
Review 34:Could not get DVD to work properly despite quick responsive help from staff. Could not get connection to wi-fi.
Review 35:Friendly, helpful staff, privacy, good self-catering facilities, well-stocked tea & coffee etc. Close to Bakewell town centre. Able to park next to accommodation
Review 36:The pull-out bed - had done in my back a few days before and this was very much felt in the morning. Also, the bathroom was a little cramped for 4 people.
Review 37:The lovely hosts and breakfast. Stayed at the one-bedroom apartment and enjoyed the great kitchen facilities.
Review 38:The hotel was on a hill and made the return trip on foot quite a feat for two wrinklies. When I say that the footpaths have handrails then maybe that will explain.
Review 39:Clean, good sized room with a lovely view. All the fixtures and furniture were good quality and well maintained.
Review 40:We didn't like the fact that we couldn't pay by card at the lodge. We had to drive into town because the phone number was continually on answer machine
Review 41:It was good value
Review 42:The toilet wasn't working when we arrived we reported and were assured a plumber was called , however by early evening still no plumber . I phoned again to query this and was shrieked at and suggested that we should leave as there were no other available rooms. The lady was astonishingly rude. We did leave . Also light bulb missing every knob on bedside tables fell off ..an awful place.
Review 43:View was lovely
Review 44:We never did manage to work the induction hob, even when the useless instructions came sfter 2 days.the television only got viewable pictures in the mornings and for short times in the evenings.
Review 45:Plenty of space to store clothes and luggage, and to sit in the lounge. Good parking facilities.
Review 46:Ideal place as a base for attending a nearby family wedding. Liked that we could feed ourselves. Sofa bed would be better with fitted sheets as the others slide off. Unexpected maid service was very nice saved me doing a bit of cleaning up. Tight car park and it is on a hill but these didn't worry us.
Review 47:Steep climb back up from the town. Good exercise for my recent knee surgery!.
Review 48:Ideal facilities for self catering. Very close to the town centre. Bakewell is a very picturesque market town.
Review 49:Only downside was that you could hear the footsteps from people staying in the apartment above. And also a weird noise came out of the kitchenette during the night which lasted for about 2-3 minutes. Otherwise everything was great.
Review 50:Location of the hotel was very good, less than 5 minutes from the centre of Bakewell where all the shops, restaurants and buses are. We were on a basement apartment and still had a lovely view from our room and the room didn't smell. Everything was very clean, good kitchen facilities with tea and coffee and even toiletries supply. Wifi and TV worked well in our room. Comfy bed and modern styled room, good enough for a 1 night stay during travelling. Wouldn't have mind to stay longer.
Review 51:The bed was a bit soft for me but otherwise it was an excellent place to stay
Review 52:great location and good facilities. it was nice to have a table and chairs in the room which were comfortable.
Review 53:Apartments seem to have gone downhill since we first stayed. Needs updating, walls are all dirty and scuffed. Runner on bed had suspicious stains! Heated towel rail in bathroom didn't work. water didn't drain in shower, also water came up the plughole in the bath when the kitchen sink was used. Fridge was dirty and not properly fitted. TV didn't work. Sofa torn. Also there was a power cut, this wasn't the owners fault, but we would have expected a small discount.
Review 54:Location close to centre of bakewell.
Review 55:Took money from card when no preference selected. A reminder that it was going to be taken. Car park issues Tv signal weak if you plan to stay in but DVD player Headboards - not secure so in night could hear ours and the apartment next door
Review 56:Location Bathroom lovely fo relaxing after walks Spacious room with lovely view Walking distance to Monsal trail/ pubs Quiet / privacy
Review 57:There was no wifi in the room and staff had no answer for that. There was no electricity in the room for four hours and we were sat in the dark room whole evening. Heating was switched off and room was freezing and most of the electric sockets in the room was not working. we requested for double bed and they joint two twin beds to make it double bed and it was not comfortable at all to sleep.
Review 58:There was nothing to like at all !
Review 59:Being very picky the both towels could be larger Location not suitable for the elderly with mobility problems due to steepness of hill
Review 60:Close location for Chatsworth and good size bed and shower
Review 61:There was nothing to like
Review 62:It was nice to be able to get up when we wanted, and even better nobody to knock on the door as your room needs to be cleaned relaxing.
Review 63:Furiture and decor looking old broken tiles in bathroom plug not drainning needs a new shower head lots of lime scale bedroom furniture cheap sound insulation between rooms was awful could hear everything not what you need for a relaxing stay I would not stay again for the price
Review 64:Great location and amazing views
Review 65:Very thin walls. Don't know who was in the next room (hotel staff?) but they were talking loudly till 2:30 then up again at 6. Couldn't find the WiFi as promised.
Review 66:Lovely and clean and warm. Great facilities.
Review 67:Friendly, extremely helpful staff. Facilities were excellent. Flexibility on check out was wonderful as we have an eight month old baby who cares not for time restrictions!
Review 68:Although the bed was clean and well presented the duvet was very lumpy where the stuffing had clumped together after many washings. The door handle fell off the main door to the room during our stay. This was fixed in a temporary way immediately by a staff member with gaffer tape until a more permanent fix was possible.
Review 69:Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything we needed was provided for a whort break. The level of cleanliness was very good. There was a wonderful view of Bakewell which was an easy walk away.
Review 70:It wasn't noisy but could have better soundproofing. Beware of walking up/down Fly Hill. Although a direct route to Town, it was treacherously steep and slippery on wet leaves. (Not the fault of the Lodge) No lighting on the steps from the car park.
Review 71:Most unexpected. Light, modern and had everything we needed. Only stayed one night and would have been happy to stay longer. Felt relaxed and at home.
Review 72:The parking. Access to the hotel is down very narrow roads and the car park is cramped so we had to park blocking others in. There is no additional parking anywhere close.
Review 73:The self contined room was very good and check in and out worked fine. The location was good for walkng into Bakewell or going other places
Review 74:Only one armchair and bed a bit soft for our liking but comfortable. Windows frames old but in keeping with house. However likely to be drafty in winter if windy since could only close one window with latch, other taped up since latch missing.
Review 75:Thought this was simply a hotel room but found on arrival that in fact there was limited self catering (microwave, cutlery and plates etc) which was a bonus for us. We stayed in the ground floor of the Hall with a great view over front garden. Good sized room, TV, wi-fi with walk in shower. Limited parking if full, but great location for Bakewell provided you can manage the hill back up from town. Plenty of places to eat in Bakewell
Review 76:Don't stay here if you have trouble walking up a very, very steep hill from the town - it's worse than expected. Nearest supermarket is Co-op in town so you have to lug bags up hill if you don't have a car. Cracked shower tiles. Strange not to have a reception - just a mobile phone number to call on arrival and departure. No-one to ask about local services, etc., although book in room fairly comprehensive.
Review 77:Lovely view of Bakewell from room plus everything you needed in the kitchen for a few days' stay. Clean and comfortable bed, clean room and lots of privacy. Great to get away from everything.
Review 78:Sleep Lodge was an excellent place to stop for one night one several it is in a perfect location for traveling around the peak district or if you just want to relax in Bakewell I know we will visit sleep lodge again in the future we was lucky and stayed in the old hall and this has loads of character. It was an excellent stay
Review 79:We had to call a mobile number from the car park to check in and the wait was around 15 minutes. It appeared they had allocated our room to someone else and when we finally got into the room, we found it only just large enough for two to share comfortably and the towels were dirty. Whilst the room had certainly been cleaned, we discovered a greasy handprint on the wall and signs of mould in the grouting in the shower. The towels were definitely not luxury, being small and rough, there was inadequate lighting, especially for doing makeup, and to cap it all the beds creaked at the slightest movement. It's not the worst place I have ever stayed, but we chose it because it promoted itself as a luxury venue, and it certainly isn't that.
Review 80:Water not draining from basin and bath. Lumpy duvet. No room servicing. Inadequate kitchen equipment. Unacceptable towels/tea towel (not luxury as described). Window handles missing. Furniture tired and worn. Ignored request to pay by debit card and charged credit card thus increasing the cost.
Review 81:Reasonable location.
Review 82:Had constant problems with tv in room. Kept either sticking or turning itself off. We feel we should have a refund as the friendly young man who was trying to sort out the issue spent a lot of time in our room
Review 83:Good location and friendly staff
Review 84:Room a little tired could do with fresh lick of paint, nothing major.
Review 85:Very close to centre of Bakewell, literally only 5-10minutes walk into town. Also very close to ChatsworthHouse.
Review 86:Can hear noise and doors slamming from other rooms. Not able to shut bedroom windows- handles had been removed! Overall enjoyable stay though
Review 87:Short walk into centre of town. Comfortable bed. Staff answered phone calls promptly.
Review 88:It's not in the town centre and up a steep hill not suitable for elderly. Hotel is dog friendly but the rooms are in blocks and guests with dogs are in same blocks as those without. Guests in room next to us had very nervous dogs that growled and barked at slightest noise all night long. We suggest that some rooms / blocks are dog free.
Review 89:Kitchenette to make breakfast and drinks
Review 90:You would have to be quite fussy to find any problems.
Review 91:Large comfortable bed. Splendid view. Friendly helpful staff.Martin even helped us with our dog conveyance. Basic cooking facilities are useful. Walks are easily accessible.
Review 92:Having been "up graded" from the sleep lodge and not havingany knowledge of that accomodation did not really feel comfortable invernon suite. No door knob on arrival saturday and still not beenreplaced on depart weds. Lack of opening windows in room made itoppresive. Damp patches on wall gave room musty smell. The showercontrol falling off on morning of departure really left the impressionof a bad or tired room conversion
Review 93:Bed comfortable
Review 94:wifi didn't work in my room but was good in carpark. arrangement with calling to pick up the key was confusing
Review 95:comfortable, quiet location that was close to town (albeit with a large hill on the way back)

Review 123:Massive, comfortable and relaxing bed. Spotlessly clean. Great location for centre of Bakewell.
