Reviews for Castle Inn
Review 1:Room was above the function room which allowed noise through the floor. Not a major problem, but could be an issue for some. Electric shower was a bit weak.
Review 2:Great staff. Great breakfast. Clean and modern room. Lovely location.
Review 3:Absolutely nothing to complain about
Review 4:Very welcoming and hospitable. Lovely bedroom with a decent TV and free wifi. Generous and very tasty food menu. Lucky timing for monthly quiz night and Folk on the Train night. Great couple of evenings full of entertainment.
Review 5:Excellent location for our trip around Wales. Excellent accommodation and food. Try the steak & ale pie (+ a lot of chips), washed down with good traditional ale.
Review 6:We could not have selected a better place to stay. Hospitality was second to none. Food was outstanding and we are looking forward to returning in the very near future.
Review 7:The window had to be either closed or fully open as it had no pin for the extending bar. The room was not cleaned during our stay and we had to ask for the towels and bed linen to be changed
Review 8:Sue in the kitchen and Hayley in the bar are very good, friendly and fun. The shower was fine but the shower unit was of poor finish. The breakfast was very good and the evening meals of limited choice but well cooked. Good place to stay for a short term only.
Review 9:Were made very welcome and a staff member and customer helped us over the phone with directions when we got lost because of divisions and arrived late.
Review 10:Room was a little cold and bathroom was a little dated but not a negative by all means
Review 11:Best feature would have to be the quality of food, especially breakfast. Very homely surroundings.
Review 12:Very long wait for our meal on the 2nd night and the food wasn't as good as 1st and 3rd night - don't know why the service was so slow on that evening.
Review 13:Staff accommodated our early breakfast - location was good for our visit.
Review 14:My Wife and I had an excellent evening at the Castle, we had planned a visit to Stokesay Castle earlier in the day and in the evening we had the famous steak and ale pie for our supper. BRILLIANT
Review 15:I had to hike 2 miles outside Knighton to get there. Backpackers: use train to knuckles from Knighton. Saves time and feet.
Review 16:Room exellent. Service very good. Beer tasty
Review 17:It's a traditional country pub - wake up to the sound of birds and cockerels. The food is exceptionally good quality and the portions are very large. We needed a very early breakfast and this was no trouble at all for them.
Review 18:Creaky floorboards mean disturbance from neighbours! Cracked basin and parking is a bit haphazard.
Review 19:Staff friendly, breakfast is lovely. Food at night good but they run out of some things early on. Comfy beds.
Review 20:This was a good base for us as we walked Offa's Dyke. Our room was warm and comfortable and the pub had plenty of character. The dining room had an open coal fire
Review 21:Sue, the cook, makes lovely home made pies. Chris, the Publican, serves locally brewed Clun beer .and Butty Bach. Walls so thick, two wifi providers, one up, one down.
Review 22:Probably the hot water heater in the bedroom - it didn't really get the water hot enough
Review 23:Excellent Sunday evening meal - even though I arrived late Well cooked breakfast - spot on scrambled egg
Review 24:Would have preferred to check in earlier than 6pm which was the earliest we could on the terms and conditions.
Review 25:Friendly staff Great reasonably priced food in the bar.
Review 26:The only thing I can fault this b&b for is they need to update their TVs in the rooms otherwise we had a lovely stay and everyone were so friendly
Review 27:We stayed at the Castle Inn while visiting the area and were very happy with our choice. We had a wonderful dinner in the delightful period bar, a cozy night in a snug room and a fantastic breakfast, crowned with that most rare of commodities in these isles, real honest to goodness coffee!
Review 28:We booked 24 hours earlier but booking.com's notification had not been picked up by Inn. We were a surprise to the staff! Since we were the only guests, there was no problem. Meal options were restricted due to folk event.
Review 29:Ample room but short on shelves. Spacious bathroom with electric shower. Rooms well away from bar but over function room. It turned out to be the monthly folk music evening. Great entertainment with one band in function room and several other performers in the bar. We were very lucky!
Review 30:We had a twin bed room in the annexe. It was perfectly functional, but small, sparsely furnished and not at all friendly. At night, external lighting was on all night and windows could not be opened because of noise from the kitchen extractor fans.
Review 31:The pub rooms are great, spacious and comfortable. Beer is first class. Food was really good, all cooked on site, and service was friendly. It must be good, since it attracts lots of local custom.
Review 32:Very friendly staff. Pretty location. Good food and beer. Homely atmosphere. Excellent breakfast made with quality produce. Dog friendly. Will visit again.
Review 33:Access to bedrooms via metal steps on outside of building Squeeky bed Could not get internet to work Slightly dated decor in rooms and bathroom Overpriced but it was bank holiday
Review 34:Food - excellent Staff - very friendly Dogs - able to take our dogs and good dog walks in area Old fashioned pub Spotlessly clean

Review 39:The was a warm welcome from locals and staff alike. It is a great base for walking in beautiful upland countryside. Food was fresh and well prepared, breakfasts excellent. The garden / patio was a wonderful area for pre-dinner drinks and we were joined by friendly collies. Choice of two real ales in excellent condition.
Review 40:Not a huge problem but we wished we could have booked in a little earlier than 6pm. Ended up waiting outside for a while at 6pm. Someone from a house nearby told us to keep ringing the bell and someone did come eventually.
Review 41:Staff welcoming and efficient. Excellent value for money in restaurant. Clean bedrooms with all we needed. Lovely setting with a pretty garden to use in the evening.

Review 43:Excellent welcome. Very friendly and staff accommodated my need to store a bike and provided with an alternative breakfast due to my very early start. Food very good and nice local beer.
Review 44:Being picky, the Wi-Fi and the mobile phone signal were a little patchy but you are in the middle of nowhere so what do you expect!
Review 45:Really friendly staff (and locals in the bar). Clean, comfortable, modern room. Peaceful location. Tasty food and generous portions. Excellent Ales!
Review 46:I was made to feel very welcome by Michelle and she couldn't do enough to help when I arrived. The room was lovely and breakfast was yummy! Both my little dog and I enjoyed are stay. Thank you.

Review 50:Excellent breakfast. Fresh fruit. Cafetiere with good fresh coffee. Tea, coffee and herbal tea in room. Very quiet. Three extremely friendly dogs. The whole stay was very pleasant.
Review 51:No instructions for the shower - if too hot and I turned it down (I thought) it turned to cold. I tried several times and it turned cold each time......that was probably me as the other two managed all right.
Review 52:We arrived early and were waiting outside when we were told "...she was out but would be back soon and would let us in even though it was early." Comfortable bed, nice room, good evening meal and breakfast, friendly staff, attractive building. We'd certainly go back again.
Review 53:The food was outstanding, especially the homemade Steak and Ale pie, breakfast was also lovely. All the staff very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfy.
Review 54:The breakfast had options for vegans and vegetarians without any problems whatsoever, which is refreshing as we usually have problems being catered for. They had a side gate so we could come in late to our room without having to enter the main pub and disturb others. The food and the room were good and it was good value for money.
