Reviews for The Kings Arms Hotel

Review 1:I booked a budget room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom had no heating and it was the first real cold weather of this winter so too cold to shower.

Review 2:we arrived at 9pm we asked was the restaurant still serving food as people where still eating but I was told no and in the bar they had no crisps or nuts so no food for us :(

Review 3:The breakfast was lovely I had freshly made pancakes and bacon and the waitress was fantastic so helpful and friendly and the Buffett was spotless :) one thing I didn't like was the sausages my husband asked for bacon and sausages on toast he got the bread cut into triangles so couldn't make it a butty and I do not think chippy style sausages (frozen kind) are appropriate for restaurants

Review 4:The free WIFI is a joke, it is the slowest and poorest internet connection I have ever encountered and I travel a lot! I need the internet for my work and booked this hotel over others because I assumed the WIFI connection would be good even though I booked a budget room but it was so poor I just couldn't use the internet. It is the second time I have stayed here so it is not a one-off and will not be staying again because of it sadly.

Review 5:The staff are brilliant, always eager to help and willing to go out of their way

Review 6:Staff discussing how unhappy they were to be doing secret santa, money there on Tuesday and not there on Wednesday morning, staff smoking by my room door and complaining about there managers, these were all conversations I heard whilst sat in my room, even though it was classed as a budget room I was shocked to hear so much of staff comments which was a shame as the lady and young man that signed me in and showed me my room were both excellent.(Tuesday around 16.00 ).

Review 7:The room was nicely decorated and very clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom spotless. Staff members that signed me in and showed me to my room were both very friendly and polite.

Review 8:The shower pressure was poor in my room and there was no towel rail in the bathroom.

Review 9:The location was great as we were shopping at Bicester village. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for you. It is the second time I have stayed at this hotel.

Review 10:The water pressure was terrible. Impossible to take a shower - just a dribble of water coming out. Tried to take a bath but the stopper did not work. Asked the staff to change floors but she said the whole hotel has poor water pressure. Asked her to fix the bath water stopper and she was surprised it did not work, said she would send someone to fix it but no one came. Food was also appalling.

Review 11:Location.

Review 12:We were woken up in the night by drunken people outside the pub. As the windows are old it was really loud and really impacted our sleep as they were outside for ages.

Review 13:The room was lovely and spacious and very clean. Lots of towels and coffee machine.

Review 14:Awful shower - please put this right as it was the only thing I could fault!

Review 15:Lovely room with wonderful bed and linen. Restaurant was very accommodating and food was simple but excellent.

Review 16:The room was very cold and had a plug in heater which had to be left on to warm up the room. I believe there was an issue that day, but the shower water pressure was terrible, barely a dribble and when we told the staff that we were unable to have a shower and had to run a bath each, they didn't seem too bothered. It was quite busy in the morning for breakfast and the service was very slow, this accompanied by the non existant water pressure made us late checking out. We had two phone calls reminding us our checkout was 11am and I didn't get the chance to explain why we were running 30 minutes late.

Review 17:The hotel is lovely and welcoming. Our room was large and comfortable, Aldo everywhere was spotlessly clean. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious.

Review 18:We wasn't happy after travelling for 2 hours-that the boiler had broken down and no heating in our room it was freezing ?

Review 19:After we arrived and there was no heating:-( the waiter went out of his way to make us happy at dinner He was so attentive and nice

Review 20:The staff were so friendly, courteous and helpful. Great rooms and facilities. Lovely position in Bicestor, useful for taxis as well as we had to use them for travelling to and from a wedding at The Tythe Barn, locally

Review 21:I was in a budget room and should have checked the small print!! Shared bathroom (which was dirty), room was nice but damp walls and no tea or coffee making facilities and not even a glass so you could have a glass of water. All round very inhospitable and for the price, you get far better at a Travelodge or similar.

Review 22:Nice main hotel and the restaurant is good with pleasant staff.

Review 23:The breakfast wasn't great. It looked and tasted as if it had been prepared hours before. The dining room was fine and the tea good, and staff were friendly. Shame about the food.

Review 24:The location was excellent and the room lovely.

Review 25:Refurbished to a high standard, spacious, comfortable and very clean room. Staff all very friendly and helpful. A bonus that we could leave the car in the car park after checking out, whilst we visited Bicester village. Which is only a 10 minute walk away.

Review 26:Staff and location t Bicester shopping village. And also given 10%discount voucher by the hotel . Restaurant was great and Jose, a brilliant waiter, very entertaining.

Review 27:No water pressure with shower and was too small. No heating working not told on arrival issued a heat at midnight! Night club across the road very disturbing police and fights broke out.

Review 28:Location short walk to Bicester outlets

Review 29:Bathrooms were lovely , but not fitted by professional plumber, the worst DIY job I've seen anywhere, taps turned wrong ways , the whole pillar of tap moved all way round, shower sprayed everywhere. My friends rooms were the same, we were laughing how bad it was.

Review 30:Staff were fantastic, location good, food good

Review 31:On arrival we found unflushed turds in toilet which had a " Cleaned for your Hygiene" paper sticker over the closed lid!!!!! Baby and Children in Bar took over the place- too noisy a disturbance.

Review 32:Staff excellent, food very good.

Review 33:Not particularly a dislike ,but I thought that the prices for the restaurant were a little high, although the food was excellent.

Review 34:the hotel has been very well refurbished but still allowed to keep its old original feel of a 17th century hotel, all the staff were very attentive and friendly, namely Louis ,the restaurant manager and Margaret and Sally the Receptionists. The hotel chefs serve up very good dishes. Very comfortable new beds.

Review 35:No towel hooks or rails. Room a bit to warm. Water pressure not good. Noisy toilet

Review 36:Location! In the sweet little market town of Bicester. But only a 5 minute walk to the outlet. Charming staff and nice dinner. Lovely breakfast. Free parking.

Review 37:A what a lovely experiance. My husband and I were caring for our 9 month old grandaughter . The staff couldn't have done more, we arrived for breakfast to find a highchair waiting for us. Breakfast was lovely. Kate was given a cuddly lion and later a member of staff gave her a balloon. Everyone chatted to her making us feel very welcome. After booking out we walked round a local park with the baby and decided to return for afternoon tea. The cakes were decilicous . Once again we felt very welcome Kate was given a lovely wooden toy. Amazing .

Review 38:The toilet chain kept pulling off!

Review 39:I admit to being pleasantly surprised by the quality of this place. The staff are friendly, the rooms are large and very comfortable and the breakfast is super. We got back late from the rugby and the night man was very accommodating getting is a nightcap! I'd definitely stay again....

Review 40:Nothing was disappointing.

Review 41:The location of the hotel was perfect right in the town centre and only a few minutes from Bicester villiage. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and lots to choose from. The hotel was nice. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 42:Budget room very noisy - gave me a headache. To get a decent night sleep I asked to be moved. There was only a double available away from noise - I was charged a further £51

Review 43:Double room nice

Review 44:Concerns with decor of route to room then smoke and other alarm in room were covered banister on stair was dangerously loose and bottom of stairs was a drain cover that sagged as you stood on it I left as soon as I could

Review 45:Breakfast was disappointing & the staff were far to slow. Evening staff were brilliant we couldn't fault them.

Review 46:The hotel facilities were excellent.

Review 47:I stayed at this hotel for two nights as I was attending a wedding, in the early hours of the morning my friend had been woken up by some text messages from a member of staff at this hotel trying to contact me personally unfortunately it was my friend who had made the booking on my half and it was his details on the booking, I was shocked at the members behaviour and how a break in confidentiality could happen, as a single woman travelling alone this is not acceptable. I later spoke to the owner of the hotel who firstly didn't apologise for any upset that was caused, if a woman wants to give her phone number out that's her choice for a member of staff to go through booking information to obtain this information is very scary and my last night's stay was just that! He did go on to say that the member of staff obtained this information from the restaurant which personally I think was just a cop out for poor behaviour from this member of staff, he later did say that the member of staff had been given the sack and there was no crime committed, in my eyes there was a total breach of confidentiality and luckily it never went any further. I'd say if your staying at this hotel I would be very careful what information you give them as it seems everyone can assess it!

Review 48:The only small issue was I was in room 14 for this stay, the room looks out over the village which is good but the old single glazed windows (look lovely and in keeping with the building) struggle with the noise from outside. The people leaving the bar below can be heard quite clearly chatting away.

Review 49:Business stay for one night. The room was flawless and immaculate this was the same for my first stay at the Kings Arms. The breakfast was brilliant and all good quality (especially the sausage). .

Review 50:The bathroom facilities was not of a very high standard.the water pressure from the shower was particularly poor.

Review 51:The food was fantastic and the waiting staff very sociable.

Review 52:Our bath tap (including mixer for the shower) didn't work and we had to shower in an opposing room. With the explanation that it would be fixed it wasn't. They did move us to another room but of a lower standard and tried to charge us the same. The staff are all new and new to the industry by the looks of things. The simple tasks of the registry and Bering skilled on the IT systems were basics this place lacked. The staff didn't turn up to serve breakfast which lead to a faulty towers approach th the meal. Wrong food, toasters on fire. Calamity.

Review 53:Well presented hotel. Until you lift the lid.....

Review 54:I had requested a travel cot but they didn't get the message from booking.com and I didn't chase it up. They couldn't find a travel cot anywhere in the hotel to put up for me. I had bought our own since I worry about the quality of products away from home but wasn't ideal.

Review 55:The staff were so lovely. Really helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help me with my baby The room was lovely and very well kitted out. The bed was comfy and the linen was fresh and crisp. The coffee machine was brilliant. Breakfast in the morning was really tasty with good selection.

Review 56:Nothing really !!

Review 57:Great location. Lovely decor, attention to detail, didn't want for anything. Good atmosphere, staff lovely nothing too much trouble.

Review 58:Not having an en suite which I class as a basic need in any hotel . Don't like sharing a bathroom. It was an adequate bed for the night . Would definitely not stay for more than a night

Review 59:It was near the location I wanted to be

Review 60:Staff lacked customer focus Breakfast experience was awful. Best avoided and certainly not worth the £15 they charge non-residents. The bedrooms were very warm and had a very noisy extractor fan outside the bedroom which was kindly turned on at 6.40am

Review 61:Location Good car parking Nice decor

Review 62:The property was described as being refurbished , it has not been refurbished in all areas , including room 19 . I am still waiting (2days for a VAT ) receipt.

Review 63:Location

Review 64:Room was on the front of the hotel overlooking the market square. Very noisy in the middle of the night from 12am until about 4am (Saturday night)!

Review 65:Lovely hotel, high quality rooms, friendly staff

Review 66:Room was over smoking area and window let smoke in. Delivery area below room too. Kept awake with stinking smoke and a delivery at 6.30am. Staff could not care less. Bad value for money.

Review 67:There was nothing I didn't like about this stay, and the reason it isn't a 10 is because the beds, even though good, could be better. Location being good for Bicester - it's still in Bicester.

Review 68:Very friendly and accommodating staff that greeted and treated me exceptionally despite me entering in MC-leathers. I arrived on a Friday and the bar was lively, while the surrounding are ws nob-busy. As a solo traveller I could therefore socialize in the bar if I wanted to, but the "noise" settled quickly after midnight. Rooms are very clean and beds comfortable. Big car park on site belonging to the hotel. 24 hours porter service. Free Wifi with descent speed. A little pearl in Bicester! :-)

Review 69:Very little water, so my morning shower was a challenging experience. Friendly staff explained this is due to old pipes and not so easy to fix. Although this was not the best experience, I still rate this hotel as very nice

Review 70:Very nice room and friendly staff

Review 71:Noise from the street at 2am which went on for about an hour. Shower didn't work properly , water just trickled put. No milk for tea/ coffee.

Review 72:Good location and spacious room with comfortable bed.

Review 73:some staffs are not very nice No elevator, if you bring some heavy baggage, it not easy for you to take them to your room!

Review 74:very comfortable quite clear for the room

Review 75:We were unable to have a bath or a shower because the bath taps and fittings were broken. We were offered another room to shower in though the water pressure was poor on the 2nd floor. However we were given a discount by way of compensation.

Review 76:The friendliness of the staff and the food. Excellent dinner and breakfast.

Review 77:The noise from 'revellers' on the Main Street outside in the early hours (but we were all young once!).

Review 78:Large, clean, well equipped, beautifully decorated bedroom and bathroom. Very friendly and switched on night porter (Martin?).

Review 79:Beautiful building looks newly refurbished and to a very high quality standard. Restaurant manager fabulous great service - bar manager needs to slow down he was manic we had to move as he was making us feel hyper with him!!! Bad point is very very noisy from the street at 0200 with people going to the nightclub a few metres away and again at 0400 when they close so ask for a room at the back off poss. Stunning hotel with some great staff and a fabulous drinks menu. Restaurant was ok nothing overly to shout about all a bit bland but was good for the price - we would stay again.

Review 80:The shower water pressure was hopeless - like standing under at trickle. Complimentary toiletries are a lovely idea, but these were cheap and nasty... really unpleasant to use. The plumbing was quite noisy, and we'd also have appreciated a towel rail in the bathroom - possibly just an oversight?

Review 81:The room and hotel are attractively furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and we really appreciated the complimentary mineral water in our room. Dinner in the restaurant was superb - excellent food, beautifully cooked. Staff were lovely and very welcoming.

Review 82:Was told we couldn't leave the car in the carpark after we checked out as they were fully booked. The carpark seemed very empty and we only needed it until 3pm.

Review 83:mostly the staff were good fun, conversational and helpful. food was good also.

Review 84:We were on the top floor and the water pressure in the showers needs serious attention. When paying 129 a night the very least you should be able to do is have a decent shower. My partner almost had to abandon washing her hair it was such a dribble coming from shower head. It was such a shame as apart from that it is a great place. My assumption would be that the pressure in the lower bedrooms is likely to be better. I hope so!

Review 85:staff were great and the room comfortable albeit smallish, but it is what it is a pub style small town hotel and the freshly cooked breakfast was outstanding.

Review 86:Poor shower water pressure on second floor. Noise from main road and night club opposite on a Friday and Saturday night.

Review 87:Room , cleanliness , nice decor , free wifi ,excellent food and wine, pleasant and helpfull staff.

Review 88:The room was huge, there was a pod coffee maker, the bed was really comfortable, in room fridge, dressing gowns, bath and shower. Couldn't have asked for more. The food in the restaurant was very good.

Review 89:The hotel is situated in the centre of Bicester and our sleep was TOTALLY destroyed by the incredibly noisy residents of the town leaving pubs etc until after 3am.. The duvet was also of winter weight which made for a hot and sticky summer night.

Review 90:The restaurant staff were extremely efficient and professional, caring and pleasant. The food was average but the vegetables were poor (a mass of green soggy leaves). (Even leaves on the cooked breakfast)

Review 91:Not a lot if anything.

Review 92:Very clean and helpful staff. Listed building with character and the breakfast service was awesome. Affordable and convenient location.

Review 93:Bar prices are a bit excessive.

Review 94:This was the first time I had been back since the refurbishments and it was delightfully unrecognizable. Not just to the building and furnishings but the quality and friendliness of the staff. Well done.

Review 95:Wifi connection needs some attention

Review 96:Everything was perfect, from the position of the hotel for ease of access on foot to the town, and closeness of buses into Oxford. Staff splendid, rooms well furnished. Value for money

Review 97:The shower is too slow and not hot

Review 98:Room a bit cold. Electric heater supplied but took a while.

Review 99:Great location, and nice big room. Big Bed too.

Review 100:coffee machine in bedroom

Review 101:The staff were so lovely and accommodating, I felt so ill but they were so kind in making sure I had everything I needed. It was beautifully clean.

Review 102:The staff were helpful and friendly and the room and facilities were great

Review 103:Breakfast was really good

Review 104:Bathroom was poorly maintained - shower did not work properly

Review 105:The waitress at breakfast was very rude

Review 106:The room was lovely and clean

Review 107:Very noisy at night outside, and from 6:15am with traffic noise.

Review 108:Nice room, bar, & location for Bicester shopping village ( 15 mins walk)

Review 109:No heating in the bedrooms and nowhere to hang towels etc, very expensive.

Review 110:Good location

Review 111:Stairway and lobby areas very cramped and claustrophobic

Review 112:Breakfast; cleanliness of room and bathroom; helpful staff.

Review 113:Very cold, not cosey and terrible water pressure in shower

Review 114:Fantastic staff and good location for the shopping outlet

Review 115:Our room was lovely but at the front of the hotel so there was some noise from the road

Review 116:The hotel is well kept, clean and the staff are lovely

Review 117:Over 30 steps on a winding stairs to what was supposed to be an upgraded room.

Review 118:Restaurant and food v. good.

Review 119:Great location, easy 10 min walk to Bicester Village. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel lovely , very nice interior and clean !

Review 120:unfortunately the shower is disappointing the water just trickles out.

Review 121:staff helpful, food good. Refurbished so everything new & clean.

Review 122:The homely feel of the hotel , the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly . The bed was also very comfortable

Review 123:Staff could have been a bit more helpful

Review 124:Bed was very comfortable , bed linen excellent , breakfast good

Review 125:Good position in town with car parking

Review 126:Decor, ambience large room and hearty breakfast.

Review 127:Very pleasant stay for a business trip

Review 128:Some issues with the bathroom A bit pricey

Review 129:Great location easy parking Minor issues resolved by hotel manager
